I'm not sociopathic and neither are my characters. blah you think that just because one time a guy plays something deviating from the norm you should just persecute him because of it. I'm fairly level headed. And Yes, you get bonus spells based on high scores. if he is a wizard, he gets extra daily spells based on his Int score. secondly, make sure you keep track of his spell book. if you just let a wizard prep any spell from the PHB every day, they are better than sorcerers by far. so you need to make sure he has a spell book of the spells he can prep each day. you can scribe scrolls into your book, and you get 2 spells added to your spell book each level (your choice)

Okay, Fuzzy, Raoh is not a sociopath, he just seens to be a powerplayer type.
Raoh, we don't like playing powerplayer types. We want to play for fun, not to play a race to see who gets stronger. You can play videogames that are made for that. When playing with other people, you should play something not so excessive.
And in case you don't know what I mean with PowerPlayer: Its the kind that want his character to be powerful. Okay, everyone want it, but the powerplayer plays JUST for it. The more he can get the better, somethimes annoying the others players, especialy when he decides to "show off" to others.
If you are not like this, I apologise, but by your posts, it did sound like that.

Meanparadox, check the player's handbook. I won't go out of my way to research for you when you have the basic information readily available. I told you it's in teh wizard section, at the end of classes, under the section on wizards' spellboks.
I wasn't basing it on one character incident, I was saying based on your description of how you play. From what you said it sounds like you will play an evil or "chaotic neutral" (read: not chaotic neutral) character who will milk every advantage and do whatever they can get away from him.
Actually dwarf summed it up pretty well.

Didn't I say I was a power gamer in my opening posts? lol. Power gaming is fun for one thing. but I don't play D&D just to power game. Plus, power gaming isn o fun if The dm isn't good enough or the players arn't enough to design compliments and foils to the game play. most people don't understand the idea of poewr gaming. its taking characters to the maximum of what they can possibly be and it requires a good dm to throw adequate challenges. Sure its fun to just raze an encounter once and a while, but it would get boring if we didn't end up getting trashed by stuff bigger than us. a Typical hard power game encounter stretches the CRs well above wha they should be, forcing the players to actually become more tactical and skilled with what they do. the player roles also become more defined. and just becuase I enjoy designing characters who are mighty, doesn't mean I'm not a superb roleplayer as well... by the way I am.

Besides, what good would it to be power gaming here? if I wanna design Ultimate characters I would go to D&D forums... Its good to design characters who you like as well as are mighty. (I love bards... well... its just that they are just too weak...). The best way to power game is Splash level anyway (where you grab the first couple levels of several top heavy classes to create a character with monster abilities incredible diversity). While I might multi class, I won't go into a massive splash spree and make some Monster fighter/rogue/barbarian death machine. death machines are fun, but not when they ruin the campaign. personally I would like to play a Monk. a strong single class character (monks multi class poorly). maybe a monk prestige class later if we go that far... I've played all Alignments from Lawful good to neutral Evil. My FAVORITE alignments are, however, Lawful neutral, neutral good, True Neutral, and Chaotic Neutral. I play all classes really, so if you were to let me in the game I would play any class. btw. how do you ahve a Fat rogue? it seems a little... counterproductive...

lol Someone likes tooting their own horn. But as far as the powergaming is concerned...I'm not sure if anyone else is...but this will be my first time playing. I'm bound to make mistakes. And it seems that powergaming won't really help me...infact probably confuse the hell out of me as I play. And I think that part of this game is to get to know people and have fun with them....not confuse and exclude them... sweatdrop I personally would like for you to play with us...but not if you are going to cause problems.

Not all the characters will be gaining weight, and Zeusthunder opted to be a fighter instead.
I have a lesser question for you. When you play chaotic neutral, do you actually play chaotic neutral, free spirit, Han Solo or Jay and Silent Bob chaotic neutral, or do you play "do whatever I want without suffering consequences of being evil" chaotic neutral? I apoligize for the assumption, but I find too many people just act as if chaotic neutral were a chaotic evil substitute, or as if it were insane, utterly rando, or stupid.

If I play Chaotic Neutral I play them as a Free do what I want sort of man. thsi doesn't mean I simply go around killing people, nor am I a back stabber of party members. but it means that the first thing I weigh in my options is myself, and then everyone else. I act based on how I feel it will outcome me. If I thought doing evil acts would benefit me most, my characters would be evil, not chaotic neutral. usually such a character feels that evil is a negative alternative due to the hastle that it causes. so in other words, no I don't just go around killing people. It is good to run the spectrum of different characters. Alignment is just a word, there are many many different ways to play an alignment

Ah, that's doesn't sound quite right to me, but oh well.
Yo, paradox, now that we have a wizard feel free to play another class.
