Marc winked at Hadrian. The man didn't get it yet, but soon, he would. And soon Marc would be the proud lover to a perverted mage who had access to new souls! Although honestly he wasn't thinking about THAT yet. Really. Not yet.

"Costumes." he said, trying to keep a straight face. And he grinned. "Of course it isn't her fault, but one must take responsibility for what one is responsible for." listen to that man try to pretend that he was smart and all knowing. Hah!

Deciding that maybe a couple more and they would be ready for the chillen, (Haki had a suspicious habit of eating little when strangers were around. Maybe that was a girl thing too?) he paused.

"I don't know. It adds... excitement." oh, it did. "Maybe we'll branch out a little bit more?" he flicked his eyes up to Hadrian from where he was ladling the last of this bowl of waffle mix.

"You haven't given me a complete tour of the compound yet."

While the last comment seemed completely unalligned with the rest of the comments made by Marc, Hadrian chose to focus on it rather then something he hadn't caught.

"Yes, there's a lot you haven't seen...the central building, for example. We're still working on it, but it will serve as a school for some of the history of our world, once the Souls are children."

Ahneta as the teacher, of course...though she had griped and griped when she got stuck with that job.

"And then there's a maze. It's a hedge maze - Dacian began growing it when we first arrived."

And with the help of a little magic, it had grown splendidly - and was kept under control, while it normally would take a battalion of gardeners to do that.

Excitement. Right. For a brief moment, Remi wondered how these two ever found each other. She had gotten the impression from Dacian that Hadrian was a bit more reserved. Of course, that impression has been dashed to pieces now that she's found him in the same apartment as Marc.

"So there's going to be a school?" Remi asked curiously. Would this mean that eventually she'd have some part of the day to herself? "When do they start going?"

When can I actually do things I like during the day?, was really what she was asking, but she tried to hide that well.

--

Gavin yawned a bit, as he really wasn't that tired anymore. A really delicious smell tickled his nose. What was that? He'd never smelled anything so delicious in his short-lived life! He carefully pulled himself out from under Haki, jumped off the bed, and walked toward the smell. It came from Haki's kitchen.

As he got closer, he could see the table where lots of food was. They were eating without him? How dare they!

"Mommee!" he cried, indignantly. He wanted food too!

((I'll let nae decide what breakable thing he's standing next to xP ))

((a lamp! It's probably almost in the open kitchen against the corner wall, so if he ran really fast and his wings went THUNK! It'll go CRASH and Haki'll go WAAH. Okay. Everything except for the last part. XD))

"A maze?" he asked archly, nodding his head. "And classrooms?" he grinned. There would be so many possibilities for him now. Teacher fetish roleplays, public hedge stuff... with a grin that couldn't quite contain itself, he nodded his head. "It sounds... promising."

Yes it did.

At the question, at the tone coming from Remi, he grinned. "If you ever need time alone, you can send Gavin over. Haki will probably enjoy the company." Accompanied by a "whatever it is a young woman needs alone time to do."

Marc's mind could provide a lot of answers. And none of it involved writing a serious novel.

At the sound and the shift of the bed, Haki stirred, frowning as she woke up. The food smelled delicious-- but more then that, something had left her bed!

Getting down slowly and rubbing her eyes, she started to walk out.

"Just don't expect me to know my way around it."

A wry comment, accompanied by a chuckle as he explained,

"I have a horrible sense of direction. If I go in there, I get lost within a few steps...Dacian is probably the only one who knows it well enough that he could find every little niche.

The man had made it, after all; it would make sense that he would know it that well.

Turning his attention to Remi, Hadrian offered a solution to her having time alone as well.

"Also, if one of us isn't available, see if you can track down Ismet; he's only a child, but he's very responsible. I don't know if you've met him yet...he's the first child we made."

Curses. Apparently they could see right through her ploys at trying to get Gavin out of the apartment for a few hours. Well, they did offer good suggestions.

"Thanks, both of you," she chuckled. "I didn't know I could be that transparent."

Then she noticed Gavin on the other side of the room. He was pouting, which meant he wanted something. Judging from his intent stare on the small pile of waffles, she guess it was food.

"If you want something to eat, sweetie, you can just come over here," she coaxed. Please don't break anything, please don't break anything, please don't...

Gavin smiled at the prospect of food and start running--well, toddling really fast. Of course, he never noticed that he was right by an outlet. An outlet with a cord attached to a really nice looking lamp. Remi's eyes widened as his little foot slipped under the cord, and pulled it straight off the table.

CRASH!!

Gavin halted immediately, looking at the pieces. Had he done that? Remi buried her face in her hands and slammed her forehead into the table. Crap...

The loud noise was enough to have Haki run out, bewildered and a little bit worried. Nothing ever sounded that loud, even when Marc was angry! All but tripping over Gavin, she was stilled by the bellow from the other side.

"Haki, don't move!" he refused to see his daughter hurt because of something another one did. Looking for the little broom thing that his housekeeper kept at the bottom of the drawer, he pulled that out, the attached thing to sweep garbage onto and a rubbish bin.

And then he moved forewords, noticing the way Haki stared at him with bewildered eyes, literally frozen in place.

Haki, are you okay?" he asked cautiously, prioritizing his daughter first. Then his eyes flicked to Gavin. "And you, kid? Is everything... working?"

Remi was going to kill him if her son was wounded at his house. Right?

And the lamp. His eyes went to the lamp. Well. There was no need to ask what had happened to THAT.

Jerking away from the counter at the crash, Hadrian was prepared to grab the broom and help - except that Marc beat him to it.

He didn't think either of the children were hurt, but just in case...

"Where do you keep the first aid kit?"

Or bandages. He didn't see any blood, but one of them could have gotten scratched pretty easily. And it was better then getting in the other mans way, or just standing there - he hated it when he did nothing.

Probably why he he worked so much.

Gavin just stared at Marc with a deer in the headlights expression not unlike the one his mother had a while ago. He had done something bad, hadn't he. And this time it wasn't Mommee yelling at him. Slowly he nodded his head, getting ready to turn on the waterworks if this man yelled at him.

Remi quickly sat up, getting ready to apologize one hundred times over. First she needed to make sure her son was actually okay. She ran over and knelt next to him grabbing his shoulders, looking him over to make sure there were no scratches.

"You sure you're alright," she asked him with motherly worry. Gavin nodded again. At least Mommee wasn't yelling at him. Remi smiled with relief, but then gulped as she looked back up at Marc.

"I'm so sorry," she gave a guilty, sheepish smile. "I really hoped this wouldn't happen."

"Why the hell would I have a first aid kit?" he asked, frowning. "Bandaids are in the top shelf, next to the knives." Ironic, really. "The iodine stuff is with it. And cotton buds." People rarely hurt themselves here.

Of course, people rarely knocked things down too.

Haki, glad to see that Gavin was okay and that nothing serious had happened, nodding her head and made some room. Marc relaxed as well. "It's nothing serious then?" letting go of the tension, he placed the cleaning tools on the ground and reached over to pick Haki up. "Come on sweetheart. You can sit on the counter with your friend, okay?" he frowned, looking down.

"The house keeper is coming soon. She can clean it up and..." then he turned as he realized what her last word had been. "You do know that the lamp is a priceless antique?" he purred.

Bandaids...next to knives. Well, that was unique organization. Though it was looking like nobody needed bandaids anyway, so it was a moot point.

When Marc purred out that phrase...Hadrian knew right then that this was not going to end on a pleasant note. Yet once Marc was angry, and one way he knew to calm him down was out - after all, they had guests.

And he had to refrain from commenting that there were so many 'priceless antiques' in the apartment, that one gone wouldn't make much of a difference. Though if it looked like it was going to go badly, perhaps he would mention that...if nothing else, it would keep the stranger from getting chewed out for a toddlers actions.

Priceless antique. She gave Gavin a desperate look. You just had to knock over a priceless antique. Gavin just sheepishly smiled in return, glad that he hadn't scratched himself and that he probably wasn't going to get yelled at. She picked Gavin up, knowing that at least in her arms he couldn't break anything else.

"What should I do?" she gulped, a thousand apologies in her eyes. She really wasn't sure what else to ask, or how to ask it. By the way he said that, she couldn't tell if he was angry or not.

Haki frowned. She didn't know exactly what a prysless antik was, but it didn't sound very good. It sounded like somewhat foreboding, for what was supposed to happen.

"Gavin k?" she asked, looking at the boy. She was moved with some difficult to the counter, and there she sat, watching the other one. Hmm. Maybe more of his feathers had been dislodged? No. It was no time to think about personal gains!

Marc stopped, and smiled. "We've already worked out an agreement." he said, velvet words. Lifting another waffle out of the set and placing it on the plate, he paused. "I told you, money doesn't concern me." Alright. So maybe it wasn't THAT expensive. It had come in a set, and maybe it had come from the attic somewhere too.

But it was still something. "We'll work it out, Remi." he promised. "But we should feed the children first."

That way, he could figure out just how far he could go.

Great, so now she might be Marc's errand girl for the rest of her life. At least, that's where the conversation had left off. She had no idea what other ideas were brewing in his head. She could scrub doorknobs for eternity. That she could do.

When he mentioned the children, she nodded and placed Gavin on the counter next to Haki. He was still slightly in shock.

"I k," he replied, blinking in confusion still.

Remi was still tense, even after Marc said they would work it out. She was the kind of person who--when she made mistakes--acted like it was the end of the world and would sell her soul in apology. She put on her best attempt at a sheepish smile, which was still laced with guilt.

"I guess I'll pour the kids' drinks. I know Gavin likes juice, what about Haki?"

It was the least she could do, after she had just shattered what was probably some treasured heirloom (as she wasn't aware of how much Marc actually had).

Catching Remi's eye, Hadrian gave a subtle but wry grin at her. Telling her wordlessly to not be too worried about it - it wasn't like Marc was going to make her clean his entire apartment every day. He had housekeepers for that.

As the other two adults in the room were taking care of other tasks, the mage set himself to the task of locating forks for the toddlers to eat with - after all, nobody wanted to deal with syrupy, sticky toddler.

As he set the forks on the plates, he followed that train of thought and grabbed some napkins.

He had a feeling they'd be needing them. Especially after the story about the stain on Dacian's wall.

After retrieving all that he felt they would need, the man caught sight of the clock, and gave a rueful sigh.

"I should probably be heading over to the labs soon..."

Normally - when he spent the night in his apartment - he was out there at the crack of dawn. Obviously that hadn't happened today.
