*thinks of some times se got embarresd by her drum* well, one time during band camp ( xp xd ) i tripped or a door the was leaning against a wall and when i fell,it was so loud that later on when my director came back,he gave a speech talking about not dropping our drums,he heard me from all the way over there('over there' was far away...i dont remember where anymore..) and another was when we were warming up in the Judson stadium parking lot before a game, and i apperantly was playing very loud cuz the car i was standing next to went off(the alarm...we were scrunched in there pretty tight,it was hard to play..),it scared the poop outa me...and there are many other instances where i'v run into a door, halfway tripped over an instrument case on the floor (Damn you saxophones! scream ) i'v also bumped into various pit instruments...i feel so clumsy... sweatdrop

oh i feel for you, our percussion equipment is in the corner where all the lockers are, so there is random stuff lying all over the place there. ESPECIALLY insrument cases, yeah, not fun at all, especially for football games... crying

Yeah, trombones and bassoons are worst for me...they just leave their cases open on the floor between the percussion room and the timpani, so we have to either kick them out of the way or cough, act innocent, and step on them just to spite them...muhaha! *cough* sorry about that...

I hate that. Most of the time the bassoon and bass clarinet people are good about that but today when I was going to get the tuner for the timpani and almost feel over. xp whee I kicked it aside and felt like stepping on it but we got it about 2 days ago so I would have gotten yelled. I'm my band directors favorite heart so it wouldn't have been that bad. I pass out all the music and make copies, and it took forever because she had me do every piece of music that we're playing for this whole year. Because of that I know exactly how many peopleare in each section.

Its not that bad in my band. My BD doesn't care if we don't play half the time. Just as long as we stand near what were playing for that song. My BD's also created the habit of saying thank you to me even when I haven't done anything, it gets kinda creepy at times 'cause I'll be half way out the door and she'll turn around and shout Thanks.
also people in my band are lazy. Me and this other guy are also the only people who actually bring out sticks into class with us. Everybody moches of me, but I don't really mind, I've got an extra pair of drum sticks because of that also.

well my brother was in the pit in marching band, and I never really saw him, but I always saw all of the other percussionists and I thought quads were so cool. Plus my brother says there like portable toms and so i figuered that would be awsome 'cause i've played pieces with the trap set/ drum set and there so cool.
i feel so bad for making asssumptions.

Don't be. The tenors or quads, whatever you call them, are a lot of fun to play. I have been taking lessons from our percussion director for about 2 years. They are a fun instrament that, I think will never get old.

I've marched both sides of the fence and I infitiely prefer pit. But: I don't like drums too much, mine was too heavy (I know, don't whine, but that's a reason I disliked Line), and I hated the leadership. Pit is a great place to start out, if you're new.... You'll usually march basics for a while, and then have a lot of time to learn and practice your music, and when you're not practicing your assigned stuff you can practice Line stuff. And sometimes they'll stick us on Line for cymbals and aux for parades only. So pit's a lot of fun, depending who you talk to.
