Mikagi-sama Grade 1 -COMPLETED 80/801 Stroke
 イチ、 イッ, ひと(つ)、 ひと one
and especially vvvv
ジョウ、ショウ, うえ、 かみ top, best, upper part
あ・げる、あ・がる、のぼ・る、のぼ・せる、のぼ・す to raise, to go up, to rise, to ascend, to increase
(I reread what you wrote about the kanji before the kanji lessons...) はい, I was confused about the Kunyomi and Onyomi readings. Really, I'm just totally flummoxed with all the readings of the characters... I know the kanji 一 is ichi or itsu イツ (an on reading?) by itself, but would it be ひと (an kun reading?) paired with another character? I know 人人 means one by one right? The only part I just don't really understand is.... how do you know which "kun"? word should be paired with another word?, Do you just simply learn it and just let it be? Especially ジョウ I just don't get why there's so many ways to read it...., I guess this is just too difficult to explain before I really start to learn all the basic grammer and particles to use...? Boy, I should just ask my boyfriend to explain this!!! *laughing* It's just one of those things where it's much simpler to explain in person neh? I'm sorry I bothered you with my dumb questions! I'll talk to my boyfriend tomorrow when he gets home from work and let you know if I finally understand what this all means to save you another long-winded explaination!

Okay! Kunyomi (訓読み) is the Chinese version. It is usually the literal meaning and word. 水 (みず) means water. Onyomi (音読み) is like the Japanese reading. It is used for compound words like (youth) 青春 (せいしゅん), the kunyomi of the 2 kanji are あお はる. Although, for words it can be onyomi+onyomi, kunyomi+kunyomi, and onyomi+kunyomi. You will just have to learn the word. Usually it's onyomi+onyomi. Also, some kanji have one reading and sometimes the onyomi is the actualy word. Station (駅) is an example. It's onyomi is えき, but that is the actual word. Too make this less confusing sweatdrop kunyomi is the literal/actual meaning/word of the kanji, onyomi is a reading with the meaning but is used in compound words with other kanji. Some kunyomi though can be used in compounds, and some onyomi are words on its on. Just learn the words. Make sense?

Things have been so busy last week, I finally got the chance to look at the guild again! xd Yes it helps a lot; I was only really confused with.... how words are compounded and the kunyomi and onyumi rules. Thank you so much for this info, it'll be helpful towards learning my kanji in the near future!

Oh wow! 43 votes for yes it's helpful and 4 for no! That's great! biggrin Sorry everyone for not updating. Just been a bit busy but I just have to relearn 20 more and I'm back to 300 kanji! Then I will definitely add more! biggrin
Also... for my Japanese class (yes! I'm in one now!) asked us to make a list of ALL the verbs we know... I made a list of 203 and he wanted them in て、ます. Then we did it in class and he said to add たい so... after finishing it all with dictionary, te, tai, masu, and meaning. If you want I can email you the LIST biggrin

good number here is all I can say. This will be fun when this is all done. If you think about it, if you follow this like I do when learning, think of what you people can read. Grade 1-6 kanji is 90% of what is used in a newspaper.
