Redressing in the few articles of clothing that she had managed to shed, Katrina was intrigued enough to follow this woman.
"Lead the way." THe surprise of this day would seem to be endless, and Katrina had half a mind to sleep with Drxisisliege tonight simply so that she would be left alone. Alas, she had at least one task to do before she sought the refuge of sleep.

------------------------------------------------------------

Father. Drxisisliege allowed herself to break into a grin at the sight of her own familial relation. Unlike Katrina, she had no contempt for the dragon who sired her from when she was but a dragon whelp.
How could you think I would forget you? It would take more than a couple of days in the human world to even blur your memory if ever it could happen. Drxisisliege said with affection for the other dragon, even taking the libterty to stretch her head to his neck and give him a playful nudge. She may have been one of the oldest to cross over, but she was not an old dragon by any means.
Your human is impetuous and stubborn, which he evidently passed to his daughter. He is anxious to have you cross worlds without the aid of the other bonded, but I see no way to do it without a brass dragon. Drxisisliege quickly explained that she expect a bronze dragon could make items that took the place of the psychic presence of other bonded. After she was done, she let him digest her theory

(I think you mean bronze since they favor the gift to create items? LOL Im trying to understand your theory too... Im not so great at this magic stuff)

Dheadrix rumbled quietly as he thought. At least, it was quiet to Drix.

We may be able to use such items as an anchor, he said. I'd have to bring this to the others to ask about the stability of the world. The older dragon refused to be embarrassed for his lack of knowledge in this area. Dheadrix was a dragon of war who had studied the usefulness of halting magics on natural objects such as falling rocks. Dragons all had their specialities and their interests, and most of them learned as much as they could about those, but often ended up too specialized. That was fine and dandy when they were all in the same world and could ask eachother questions with ease. They hadn't needed generalists since the germination of the dragon world.

A little lizard told me, he whispered to her, the meaning being the same as 'a little birdie', that there may be another way to travel between the world freely. A road, so to speak. Yet this would take a long time... and I too, am impatient. After all, humans and their dragons shared some basic aspects of personality, even if they dealt with them differently. Hearing the note of eagerness in her fathers voice and watching his tail twitch back and forth, Drxis might guess that Dheadrix felt just as excited as Cedric.

They also shared information. Where is that chicken brother of mine, any way? he rumbled in annoyance. I have been talking to him in the other world, trying to convince him.

(OOC:
Changed razz I did mean bronze.

While the PHYSICAL part is easily reassembled, there is a metaphysical element that must be guided into the vassel. If you want a medical/physical explination, what I was thinking it amounts to is that there could be a slight alteration in the physical brain of the person being transported that cause brain damage and causes a catatonic state. Without this kind of medical knowledge though, the dragons and humans assume it is a spiritual element that causes this.

Now the bonded switch places all the time. If they are too young, it is dangerous. But as they get older, they get more prescise. The presence of other bonded act like guides or reference points. If you have one bonded, the teleportation only has one reference to fix on. THe more bonded, the more reference points, the more idea of depth and relation that the spell has. Thus it is more prescise. This might be to either make sure there are no mistakes in the brain (physical) or to contain the metaphysical being and guide it back into tis physical body (magical explination).

The magical things that the bronze dragon can create would basicall give off the imitation of the magical presence of another bonded and act as reference points in the same way. Thus they accomplish the same task without having to tell anyone.

Makes sense?)

Drxisisliege was glad that Dheadrix had caught on much faster than his human counterpart and would take it to dragons that knew how to handle it. But that meant more time. She hoped her father could reign in the impatience of his human...but he showed his own signs of enthusiasm.

Uncle is not here. Cedric did not notify his kin of his intentions, and I believe he meant to bring you over tonight. I offered him the 'anchors' as you called them as alternatives to making his intent known, but I do not think he wants to wait long enough to have them crafted. In the end, your brother would not know to switch. Not even my human knows of Cedric's plan. Drxisisliege looked to her father puzzled.
I did not think you would need to convince uncle of the benefits of crossing over, esspecially if there is an alternative route back to the dragon world. Why would he resist?
PostPosted: Fri Mar 02, 2007 12:48 pm

(so they are basically anchors. That's cool. Thanks! When the time comes, if you want to play the bronze dragon or the kings dragon or whatever happens, that's cool with me since you understand the magic better)

Some abhor change. Our life in that world until now has not been harsh, nor was it boring for all. Change always brings danger along with opportunity. He snorted. Cedric does not wish to switch. We will wait.

In the meantime king Harlan was approaching the cave, and perhaps Katrina was as well. Harlan knew where his troublesome brother would go.

Katrina followed the other woman quietly trying to determine any distinguishing characteristic about her while at the same time trying to commit their path to memory, in case she had to beat a hasty retreat. Where ever we are going I better be on my guard. I dont want to alienate myself from the King or Cedric. Right now they are the only ones that can help me. Katrina thought to herself. In that trek through the dark, Katrina realized that she was a very long way from home, from friends and from anything familiar...save Drxisisliege. And knowing she had that consolation made up for everything...despite that fact that Drex wasnt ACTUALLY here at the moment....

_____________________________________________________

Drxisisliege nodded. There was not much else to do. When a dragon said that 'we' were doing something, you generally did it...esspecially when that dragon was your father. She respected him and his suggestion...

The woman who had helped Katrina stopped at the entrance to the cave. "I cannot go in," she whispered. "I must leave you here. Harlan, he may or may not be in there. But I think that his brother is." She bowed, and scuttled off without waiting for comment.

The entrance was intimidating in the dark, but Katrina saw claw marks where her own dragon had come inside.

"Wait..." The protest died on her lips as her guide disappeared into the dark. She cursed silently and hoped she remembered her way back. She would find that out as soon as she took a look into this strange place. Creeping into the entrance, a large opening that, on approaching, was barely discernable, Katrina squinted into the darkness trying desperately to make anything out. Great she guides me to a strange place and leaves me in a cave at night. Thats the last time I follow a stranger.
She made her way down the tunnel cautiously, sticking to the cave walls to hide in the shadows.

Dheadrix perked his head up, hearing at the same time as Drxis the sound of a human scrambling up the cave paths. Is that one yours? She may need our help to find this place. He lay his head back down, unconcerned with Katrina being in the tunnel. He was waiting on his own human.

But no, the first sound that they heard was Harlan, although Katrina did feel as if she were getting closer to them.

The king was, in fact, being over taken in the tunnel by Katrina. He was going slowly, hoping beyond hope to take his brother by surprise and maybe overhear a thing or two.

I'll find out. Drxisisliege said to her father, and then sent out her mind to search for Katrina. Feeling that the human bonded was awake she called to her. Katrina? Where are you right now?

I dont know right now...its kinda too dark to tell. Katrina said, looking around. Everything seemed so..black. Some woman led me to a cave, but I cannot tell you how far into it I am. I just can't see very well.

Drxisisliege looked up to Dheadrix. She is in the cave, but she cannot estimate how far in. I will go and help her. Giving herself a good shake, Drxisisliege made her way to the mouth of the cave and peered into the gloom with her impeccable draconic sight.

Harlan knew by experience that he was very close to the main room, the place he wanted to be. But just as he was gathering his confidence, he heard a sound behind him in the tunnel. As he turned, he heard a sound coming from the room, too!

Harlan flattened himself against the wall until he could discern which the bigger threat would be. That was a great plan, until he realized that the thing coming from the room was a dragon. "Wait!" he burst out, not wanting to be squished.

Drxisisliege heard the tiny squeak and looked down. In her opinion, the little King was safe, but he appeared aprehensive at the proximity of her claws in the tunnel.
Strange to see you about the cave, your Highness, without your Royal Guard. It could have been dangerous. As Drxisisliege talked to the king, she could her Katrina's footfalls stumbling along the rocky path. In two quick messeges, Drxisisliege informed both her father and her bonded as to the new found arrival.

Harlan stood rather embarrassed, not yet having come to terms with his awe of these great beasts. It didn't make it any easier that he was bonded to one himself, or that he had occasionally talked to his bonded. These were the stuff of children's fairy tales. Realistically, he realized, they are probably not as noble as they are made out to be. Neither is the king.

"Why need I an entourage of mere humans-- as dedicated and skilled as they may be-- when I have here a noble dragon?" Harlan drew back his hood, knowing that his identity was already known, and inclined his head.

Ah! Good, I thought I recognized your voice... Drexisisliege said, then quickly notified her father that uncle's bonded was here.
With a mini-cascade of stones, Katrina slid into view, catching King Harlan's last statment.
"The reason for a human escrot, King Harlan, is that a human escort cannot crush you incidently if it happens to misplace a foot." Katrina said, straightening your hair. She then looked up at Drxisisliege.
King Harlan going off in the middle of the night is fine, as he has no obligation to me...but you have to explain what is happening her, eventually... She turned to the King.
"Well now that I am here, who wants to explain where here is?" Katrina asked, craning her neck and standing on the tips of her toes to see as much as she could around her.
PostPosted: Sat Mar 17, 2007 7:02 am

(O JOY the EXPLANING mrgreen )

"My lady," he greeted her with collected wits. "If a horse can manage not to step on the king, a dragon might share the same grace." He grinned at Katrina like a boy caught sneaking out of his parent's house to meet a girl in the dark. Wait... yes, it was quite like that!

"May we proceed to the main chamber?" he asked Drxis politely before beginning his explanation.

"My lovely Katrina, my guest, this chamber that we are about to enter is the place where my people-- I'm sorry, our people!-- are traditionally baptized into their bond. While the bond exists since birth, since there is some danger of its use in the early years, the bond is surpressed by ignorance until we are brought here. Here the connection between the worlds is strongest, and that together with the help of an older bonded eases the first transition and compensates somewhat for the years of dormancy.

"Seeing as the connection between the worlds is strongest here, I think we can both surmise what my brother is monkeying up here." What the king didn't realize until they came into the chamber, was that it would not be his brother that he would see, but more precisely, his brother's bonded.

"What about those who have not been here and undergone such a ritual?" Like me, Katrina added to herself. "Is here some difference between those that accomplsht their first connection in here and those whod do not?" Katrina asked moments before the question was temporarily forgotten by their entrance into the large hallowed cave. The magnificant rock formations seemed to thrust themselves from floor and cieling, save for a round smoothed spot large enough for an adult female dragon to roost. In this hallow spot lay what appeared to be a perfectly preserved hatched dragon egg...or at least half of it, propped almost ceremoniously upon the equally petrified nest made of large branches, tree trunks and tufts of long grass. Katrina's eyes were round as saucers taking in the wonderous scene, especially with the large dragon silohuette looming in the bakcground...
