Stewart suddered at the thought of turning into a snake. A goat was bad enough but a snake? He didn't even want to start thinking about that. "And I though turning into a goat was bad." He muttered before catching Ambrose's last question "Legally yes, I'm still a priest" He said nodding, then added "I've been trained to preform weddings, mass, baptisms, and much more. Why do you ask?"

Ambrose nodded again at the sentiment of becoming a snake - while it didn't hold the same religious connotations as it did for Stewart, it still scared the hell out of him - the idea of losing his hair, his legs, even his eyelids? He shuddered a bit, his fur ruffling.

"W... weddings you say then..?" He chewed on this piece of information consideringly, and took a thoughtful breath. "I just... well... before I came here, I had a girlfriend I was very serious about. But we were both still going to school... I was trying for the olympics with my fencing... there was no time to think about settling down. Now... well... now there isn't anything BUT settling down, you know? And... she was brought here too. And she's really helped me through all of this, you know? She doesnt' care about... all this.. And I was just wondering.... if it would be an option? To kind of make all of it mean something more than just saying she's my "girlfriend." I know there are no real laws here, at least not as far as that goes. But... maybe... you know.." Ambrose rambled, fidgeting.

"I used to do them all the time back in Boston" He said remembering the past ceremonies. He did love weddings, and Ambrose was old enough to make that sort of decision. He wouldn't have any problem perfoming the ceremony. He then added with a sly smile "Are you thinking about asking her to marry you?"

Ambrose immediately looked down at his feet, a big dumb grin spreading across his face. Even through the fur, it was pretty evident that there was a blush on his cheeks.

In a quiet, nervous voice, he finally put words to his response. "I... was thinking about it. I wanted to... you know... make sure that it was something I could do first, you know? Before I asked and got her hopes up... you know what I mean?" His eyes ventured back up to the caprine priest.

Stewart smiled as he listened to Ambrose's plans. He had such a soft spot for true love. But he couldn't help thinking of himself in Ambrose's place, discussing future plans for him and Chana. "I see what you mean, and I'd be delighted to help you two out...That is if you're okay with someone like my performing the ceremony." He said hoping that his recent behaivor wouldn't change all of this.

Ambrose smiled widely, shaking his head. "Honestly, at this point, I coudln't think of anyone better - and I mean that. We're all in this together. And I know that unlike anyone else - from the labs, or even if I had the chance on mainland for some crazy reason... you understand the situation." He smiled widely, tail wagging again.

"And... uhm... if there's anything I could do to help you out.... let me know, alright?"

Did, did he really mean that? Stewart was almost in awe, no one had ever told him something like that before. For the first time in such a long time he actually felt like he was accepted, like he belonged. He blushed a little before saying "Thanks Ambrose, this talk we've had has really helped me out" Stewart said looking out over the lake, then adding "I should really be going though, I've been neglecting my prayers. See you soon okay?" He waved goodbye before starting back to his duplex.

When I stepped outside, the first thing I noticed was that the sun was setting. Is it really that late already? I guess it's about eight now. Jeesh, I slept in until like two!

I was a little nervous to leave the room, at first, because I had no idea what the place looked like, other than what I could see out my window. I mean, this was a medical facility, right? I don't like hospitals. But when I got outside, it was just a pretty little foresty place, with nice small apartment-y buildings all around. Not bad. I actually wouldn't mind staying in a place like this, you know? Like a time-share, or something. maybe I'll ask Dr. Duvert about that later...

What's that noise? Is someone coming?

Zach stretched his arms up behind his head, yawning. The summer heat was getting to him, and he was torn between basking in the sunlight and retreating to any place with the air conditioning on full blast. The afternoon was the worst, too, the humidity making things even more unbearable. He didn't wear a shirt or shoes any longer. His toes were extremely tough and calloused on the bottom from all the time he'd spent abusing them from extensive walking. His tail, wings, scales, horns, all of his vivid and visible changes, were quite open to being seen, given all he was wearing were pants with the belt looped above the base of his tail.

He stopped at a bench to sit down, his tail curled beside him.

I ducked nervously behind a tree when I heard the footsteps approaching. Who was coming? I didn't want to disturb anyone, and after yesterday's events, I was kind of wary around strangers.

The mystery person came out from behind the trees, yawned and sat down on a bench. It was a man! But not just any man...he looked like he was...a lizard or something! he had horns, and scales, and wings and even a tail! This was shocking. This was terrifying. This was...cool!

"Uh, excuse me, mr. dragon person.." I said shyly from the bushes.

Zach turned at the sound of an unfamiliar voice. Mr. Dragon Person? Now that was a new one. 'What the hell are you!?' or 'Oh my god!' felt more like the standard way to address him. The tip of his tail gave a twitch.

"Er... yeah?" he asked, somewhat bemused. He squinted at the foliage. "Who's over there?"

I stepped out, a little bit embarrsed, but eager to get a better look at him. "My-my name's Ivy Ferris. Um...Dr. Duvert told me I'd be here for a few days until my embassy comes to find me. What are you here for?"

"Ah... hello Ivy. I'm Zach." He stood up slowly, holding out his right hand unsurely as though in a halfhearted offer to shake. Maybe it was just the heat, but the calmness to this whole conversation so far was quite new. He winced visibly at Duvert's name. Whatever shred of moral Zach had suspected the man of after he'd defended Zach had ultimately vanished from sight. The doctor was back to kidnapping more subjects.

"Apparently I'm here to be Dr. Duvert's hand-picked experiment," he gave her an odd, wistful grimace. A thought struck him as her words were re-evaluated in his mind - she didn't sound like she was aware of what was going on around here, and it was doubtful she'd understand what he'd just said. "Oh, no... I'm... I'm not the first islander you've met here, am I?"
PostPosted: Wed May 31, 2006 10:04 pm

I cocked my head, but took the hand that was offered. Meeting a dragon was way cool. "Experiment?" I asked. Then his last question clicked. "Uh, yeah, you are...why? Are there other dragon people here, too?" This island was starting to get a mystical appeal. Why hadn't the kind doctor told her about Zach?

"Yes, experiment... against my will." After breaking off the handshake, he motioned at the bench, a frown tugging at the corners of his mouth. "You should sit, this is going to be a little bit much to take in at one time. In fact, you probably won't believe me for a month. But it's better for you to know than to walk around believing Dr. Duvert's lies till you run into the next person."

He took a breath. "You're not going to be leaving this island. Ever, I think. You're a prisoner as much as the rest of us are. There's tons of people here, definitely over forty by now, and all of us are becoming animals. No one's exempt. By now they've already given you an injection... and you're going to turn into an animal yourself soon enough. I suggest you hope they picked a real animal, and not a predator. You do not want to be one of Dr. Duvert's obsessions. Believe me."

He closed his eyes. "No, I'm the only one... for now, I suppose. There's a winged snake and a komodo dragon, those are about the closest you get to this. So, uh, any questions?"
