"I do have to agree with Aravol. I would not use the term 'Just' to describe the ultimatum we have been given. Nevertheless, I have no desire to fight with law enforcement, and will comply." I walk over to the bard, and whisper to him"and if you do not trust the guard, as I am not sure I do, think of it this way. In the sewer, we have a chance to escape them, should we not find the killer in time, but here we must fight them, and I can not assure we would survive."

Action Summary: Everyone agreed to the watch captain's demand's, some more readily than others, and soon they were removing the grate cover.
Current situation: Entering the grate, you find yourselves in a large room containing all manner of discarded furniture. Pews, chairs, candelabras, and low tables lie in jumbled piles, full of cobwebs and wood rot. This seems to be the basement for the abandoned cathedral above. A rubble-choked stairway can be seen to your left, and two empty doorways yawn at you from the far wall. The trail of slime ends here, fading into the wet layer of grime covering the floor, aparently washed in by the rainwater coming in through the grate.
Behind you you can hear the chatter of the watch standing outside in the street. Someone must have told a funny joke, because they are laughing vary hard.
It's dungeoneering time! There are only two ways to go, the rubble choked stair, or the doors.

I look up, cursing slightly"I'll bet that's some joke they're telling...and somehow I think we're the punchline."

"I say we first get them started on a drinking contest, get them drunken stupid then we come in, slaughter the whole bunch of them and steal all their gold." I say smirking at my monk-ally, who I see as a friend now.

"That's a shared feeling." Aravol informs the first speaker. "And as appealing as that sounds, I think I'd rather tryto stop this killer, then work those ruffians into a drunken stupor afterwards." He replies to the second.

"True, but I just hope the killer has some stuff I could use to spin tales for the folk out in the town to get some silver." I give a soft chuckle, "But I wouldn't mind a good looting right about now."

I chuckle a bit, looking around the room."Well, I'm not in to senseless killing, though they could use a sound beating or two"his tone becomes much more serious"and should they decide to betray us, I assure you that's what they'll get. But enough talk, we have a tight deadline, and pretty much no clues.I begin to search the room for any clues.

"This is going to be a long night." Aravol says as he holds his head in his hands. "Very long indeed."

Galvin followed them and watched silently as they made there deals with the guards, thinking to himself why he hates cities. He always feels uncomfortable in them. Now the forest he could handle but decending into the sewers of this stink pit was ridiculous. They clearly didn't kill the man. He looks at the others.
" I do not like this, I have a bad feeling..."
((Not to sound stupid or anything but how do I roll? ))

He glares at the bard for his first comment and shakes his head. He tries to ignore the banter of the other party members and searches around the room. He uses one of his zero level spells and tries to detect magic. He turns slowly in a circle trying to detect any thing out of the ordinary that may be in this church.

One of the things he should be able to detect is a ring on Galvins finger, it is a family gift and can cast light up to 10ft. Galvin watches him.
"I think you will find nothing of great interest here friend, this place was abandoned anything valubale has already been stolen."

He spins to face the direction of the ranger. "There was something unnatural about that murder. I don't want to be too careful." He points to the ring on Galvin's finger. "That do anything useful?" He returns to his search of the area.
