Confused Insanity

PostPosted: Sun May 21, 2006 4:21 pm

Seeming to follow his thoughts (Jessica had a tendency to do that) She looked toward Howie. Stepping out from behind him, she began to explain;
"It wasn't his fault; it's far from his fault. If anything he's been aiding me. He just had a little... accident earlier this evening." She wasn't going to say anything more about the incident, deciding that the rest should be up to him to tell. She would be pretty embarrassed, too, if she had gotten beaten up by a random person on the street and had to go back to some girl's house to get patched up.

When he mentioned the radio station, she looked sort of confused. She had never heard of that station. But then, she never really listened to the radio much and didn't have many friends to tell her about it.

Howie shrugged and his smile slipped a little. "I assure you, I can take care of myself." He wasn't exactly as convincing as he sounded, considering he appeared to be a scrawny, beat-up kid wearing a t-shirt in the chilly weather, but there was a confidence in his voice that challenged the other man's annoyingly helpful attitude.

Well, annoying to him at any rate. He eyed Jessica for a minute. "But don't let that stop ya, babes. Run along, or whatever crap. I can't stop ya." At the moment, pretty much all he wanted to do was find a quite place to lie down and nap until morning. Or possibley mid-day.

Well, at least the girl was sensible. His head was starting to throb again - probably the painkillers wearing off. He waved a hand. "Right, go off to that... studio. Or whatever." He edged around the side of the group, but stumbled a little as he passed Dai. His hand shot out and he braced himself on the wall for support.

It wasn't much, but it was there.

Dai had stayed quiet most of the time as they exchanged names. This new man... He was certainly nice, if not a little too informal, offering them a place to stay at his radio station, but you couldn't be too trusting around of these parts. But she didn't want to be left behind here, just after she had found some logical, sentient beings in need who weren't trying to rape her or cuss at her. And she'd look like the odd sheep out, and Dai certainly didn't like that. "Oh... Um, I'd rather go along. Concussions don't fix themselves, after all." The last bit she half-chided to Howie, but she had the sense to to anger this man too much. "And I have a gun and a tazer in my chair, so I think I'll be safe, thank you." She added to noone in particular. Dai didn't like people treating her like she was helpless, but it was only natural in a place like this, so she let it slide.

As Howie stumbled, Dai stopped her thoughts. This man needed help, and now. Her keen ears could hear his uneven breathing, and her sharper eyes could see the neaousious frown that was slowly creeping onto his face. And you didn't need a blind person to see his stumble. Rummaging in her bag, Dai brought out a small orange perscription bottle. Popping the cap, she picked out a single pill before carefully closing it. "Here... Howie, is it? It's Vicodin - And no, I'm not giving you any more. I'm not supposed to be giving this to you without a proper perscription anyway." The asian woman wasn't really sure that she was supposed, less even allowed, to give a man like Howie a strong, addictive painkiller like Vicodin, but he looked like he needed it. "Don't chew it, swallow it. Here's some water." She handed Howie a half-empty water bottle. "You can keep it if you like, I have like five of these in my bag."

There was a moment's silence. Long, agonizing silence. Suddenly she allowed herself a light chuckle as a new idea popped into her head. It wasn't that funny, but everything was funny to Dai in the right light. "Gallen, you seem like a strong guy, and I'm pretty light. We can put Howie in the chair, Jessica can push, and you can carry me. It doesn't look like Howie can stand for much longer, and it's easier carrying me than him, I think. Um... I mean, unless you don't want to..."

Jessica chuckled, but it was barely audible since she had grown very quiet since the other people showed up on the scene. She usually did that in large groups or while around a man she thought was... er... pleasant to look at.

She listened quietly to the Irish man's plan(and his slightly accented voice), unable to help the thought of being a little jealous. It was always the little, stupid things to make her blush, and this was one of these things. She could only hope that her hair and the dark night could hide the fact that her face got redder by the second.

Quickly taking her place behind Howie, she looked down at Gallen's shoes so she could follow him without having to look anywhere but down.

She nodded, continuing to admire his shoes. She had chucks on, also, but they weren't anything special or even new-looking. She wore them a lot, though they were comfortable, and thought nothing more of them. She didn't care for fashion or anything like that. As long as they were comfortable and she looked nice, she was fine with it.

"Ready when you are." she said, loud enough to be heard but still not very loudly, as was her way.

Gallen lead the way, carrying Dai in his arms. When he looked to the young Asian women in his arms he blushed a bit.
"so..ummm...Mrs...??? What where you guys doing in that alley?" Gallen felt better asking the question and taking his mind off the awkwardness.

As the we walk the streets seem to get a little nicer, a few buildings up the bright neon sigh that read WXXG The Cry could be seen.

"well this isn't a problem I sometimes crash at work, and we have enough space. Besides Mark and John I doubt will care. And the Boss man never cares as long as nothing happens in his studio."

Gallen grinned again, he always grinned, for him it was a way to hide his inner feelings and also remind himself of the good things in the world.

Jessica slipped another glance to the Irish man's face, finding it funny to see the same grin on his face as she often saw on Howie's. Maybe it was a custom for guys to grin to hide their emotions... but then again, maybe it was just coincidence.

She studied the studio carefully, happy to see that it was in a much nicer town than she lived in. At least they would be better secure from break-ins robberies and muggings... a little better, that is. Yawning, Jessica found out how tired she really was. This evening was hectic and she was getting late. Her house was far from here; she was tempted to ask to crash at the studio.

As she wheeled Howie in, she remembered something. She hadn't told the nice Irish man her name! Well, it was rather too late and a little random to just say 'Oh, and my name is Jessica' right in the middle of the studio. So she thought that she'd wait until he asked her name, it would kind of kill the awkwardness.

She gave the security man, apparently named James, a kind nod and smile, but was carefully not to look directly at his face. People's faces scare her, especially people that she didn't know.
