"Aw...well that's okay, I guess. Maybe I can catch a fish next time and I'll TRY and fry it up, hm?" She flashed a weak smile, becoming self conscious about her battered legs and laying down in the tall grass in an attempt to cover them up.
"Try not to think about your brother now, alright? It's OUR time to relax, and I'm not gonna let that little s**t ruin it. For all we know, he's probably still in that cave." She sighed, beckoning the pup over to her side with a few delicate shakes of her head. "Let's just rest now, alright? Let's just forget what happened today, up until now, that is..."

He heaved a long sigh and nodded, then looked out into the cool waters as the orangey sunset in the distance reflected over the calm ripples. He looked over to Malaika. "You know this would be the perfect time to swim-" He padded into the water up to his midrift still rather shy to this new experiance. But as the water flowed around him he gave a grin and a chuckle. "You know this isn't half bad..."
He moved his body in abit further until he was barely touching the ground under him, then picked up his feet and started swiming about in sloppy circles; until he finally figured out how to keep himself afloat without splashing.

"No thanks." Malaika replied briskly, in a more harsh tone than she desired. She quickly cleared her throat, resting her chin on her paws, all the while continuing to focus her gaze on the now drenched Flash.
"I-I mean, you can go ahead and have fun. I wouldn't want to ruin the experience for you...I've...never swam before, and I might weigh you down."
She paused, her eyes widening though it was barely noticible.
"...Literally."

Padding back towards the shore now, his head was the only visable thing out of the water. "This is my first time to, surprizingly it's pretty easy..." He then walked into a shallow section. "You don't have to swim if you don't want to, but it would be nice to have your comapany in the water. It's really shallow here; and if I can stand in it; then you should be able to stand in it, without it much going past your knees." He nodded and sat in the warm water hoping that she would take his invitation and join him.

"Aww.." Malaika muttered, unable to resist Flash's persistance for any longer. She stood up, shaky at first, and padded over to the edge of the river.
"A-Alright..." She took a deep breath, and rose one of her front paws and placed it into the water to gauge the temperature. At once, she found it to be soothingly warm and calming, and followed through by advancing to the point where her entire body became surrounded by the water. The liquid seeped into the various cuts which lined her limbs, but she paid the faint stinging no mind as she moved closer to her counterpart, her motions slowed by the river's current.
After only a few moments, she found 'swimming' suprisingly easy, even if it was just walking. A smile formed across her face once she came upon this realization, and in no time, she was right next to Flash.
"Hey, you're right! This isn't so bad afterall!" She cheerfully exclaimed, licking Flash jubilantly on the cheek.

He blushed and licked her back tenderly. "See I said there was nothing to be afraid of!" He smiled and swam out abit further kicking up the speed. Slowly he rose out of the water with just his feet touching the surface. Apparently Mor was right...he could run over the water; he then dashed back to Malaika and skidded to a halt. "One day you have to let me transfer some of my speed to you- You might enjoy it..." He chuckled then floped over backwards and floated about abit as his backfeet propeled him like a boat.

Awed by Flash's new twist to 'walking on water', Malaika openly gaped at him for a few awkward moments, only after shaking her head in a delayed reply.
"Transfer...your speed? You can actually do that?" She inquired, struggling to keep her eyes on Flash as he sped around the stream. She pranced about anxiously, her paws remaining secure on the rocks which lined the otherwise soaked ground each time she moved.

He nodded. "Yup, I can transfer it to anyone I want and it won't drain me in the least bit- Mind you it's only temporary...but it's alot of fun!" He walked over to her and put his paw out. "If you wanna try just touch my paw- you'll get a sudden burst of energy; it kinda is like if you just ate a pound or two of sugar...expect you don't get the panging headaces when you slow down..."

"Erm...okay..." Malaika replied, cautious at first as she slowly reached out and touched Flash's paw. She acted as if though she were touching a steaming hot coal, than grasping the paw of her dearest love.
...But who wouldn't be scared? The very idea of superpowers should scare any NORMAL Tala, anyways.
A jolt of what felt like electricity jolted through the pink Tala at that precise moment, knocking her off of her feet and into the water that was previously below her.
In seconds, she surfaced, seeming more bewildered than anything. "Whoh..." She said slowly...looking from Flash to the water, then to Flash again. A strange power was surging through her, one she would never be able to comprehend be it if Flash had never identified the sensation as being part of having super-Tala speed.
"Hey..." Her gaze became locked on Flash, a smile creeping across her wet muzzle. "You wanna race?"

He grinned, "Of course I would- but don't think I'll go easy on you..." He chuckled, and gave her a head start. "Lets make this even more entertaining and have the race be accross the water- This way you can feel what it's like to run like the wind." He pointed to the large boulder up ahead. "We go around that once then come back here...first person to the shore wins!" He grinned again. He knew this would be a tough race being he tranfered the same power he had to her, the only difference was she didn't know how to use it yet, but he was confident that she would learn quickly.

"Alright." She replied hastily, anxiously eyeing the set track. Once she plotted the best course to take, she immediately flew forward, shouting "GO!" behind her back. The wind whipped around her, causing her eyes to sting and her fur to ripple almost as if it were a vast field of grain being blown about in a gentle summer breeze. She paid the tingling feeling hardly any mind, however; the race was the only thing she dared to focus on.
The rock was close now, only mere seconds away. Water splashed beneath the eager Talaye as she ran, causing various fish to dart about in total and complete dismay. Past the rock now, on the way back. Almost there. Where was Flash..?
Not even pausing to blink, Malaika continued to speed forward, eventually causing a cloud of sand which marked the point where she had reached the finishline. Taking a moment to catch her breath, she inspected her paws for any cuts, and upon finding no such thing, padded to the very edge of the shore and narrowed her eyes, looking for Flash.
In back of her, where she had stopped, lay a giant crater. Sand was in piles all around.
"Don't tell me he's been here already..." She said softly, a smile still present on her face. Even if she hadn't won, it was still an awesome experience. And to think she, at one time, loathed such powers...perhaps it was just jealousy disguised by hate?

Flash had barely even left the shore, by the time he felt Malaika dash past him spraying him with sand and water. He was so shocked and amazed; that he soon lost his concentration and sank from the surface of the water in a big SPLASH. He then knowing he had no way to regan his speed while in the water that he swam back towards the shore. He laughed, and saw that the running had completly dried her off. A playful grin spead across his maw, and shook his coat off with all his might getting her soaked. He stuck his tounge out in a friendly manaor and laughed out, "I see you've managed to learn how to use my powers quicker then I expected...So what would please M'dear now that she's stolen my heart and run away with it?"

"Being dry would be nice!" She retorted in a falsely annoyed tone, licking vigorously at her fur in an attempt to dry herself to at least SOME extent. Not long after did she realize such tryings were futile, and with a shrug, she peered back towards Flash, sopping wet tail wagging to and fro.
"You have to admit it was fun though, right? Keep in mind, you can beat me in races all you like in a few hours." Her tone dropped, try as she may to repress her slight dissapointment. Speed brought such a rush, such a feeling came to her as being so alien, but so refreshing. It certainly was hard for her to accept that her new powers were only temporary, but just like a drug's effect, such good things never last.
"But still...it's a great feeling when you're running like that...and I'm speaking on five minutes of experience, too. It must be like heaven every day for you, huh?"

Flash cackled abit. "Ya know, if you run around for a few seconds you'll be dry as a bone..." He grinned and darted about her then when he stopped he was dryer then before.
He paused, and looked at her. "I guess- but I'm sure If I worked on my powers I could transfer you a steady stream of speed that would last you a life-time. I'm not excatly sure how fast you'd go though..."
Knowing that Malaika was going to lose her speed he shruged and tried to make her feel better about loseing them. "Yea it's okie I guess- but sometimes it'd be nice to slow down for abit...I'm kinda envious of you..."

"Envious...of me?" Malaika replied, raising a skeptic brow at the pup. "I'm sure, Flash. Normal Tala would KILL for a power like yours. Trust me..." She looked down, paying his previous words hardly any mind.
"I know." She took a deep breath, unconsciously beginning to knead her paws as she continued. "I wouldn't want you to go through any trouble if you did indeed transfer a permanent kind of power to me, it just wouldn't be worth it...It'd make me seem selfish, too. Don't mind me, Flash, you do things with your powers that benefit people, human and Tala alike, everywhere. I'd...I'd just use them for my own reasons. You deserve them, and I don't. It's as simple as that."
