Kindra had just gotten Asparagoth settled when the call from Ostarath came for the clutch she had been carrying. She sighed and rolled her eyes,

"Mine? ... please? it would be lovely to have more than one cousin to keep me company"

"Really asparagoth?" she sighed "Alright... " She had to go get some warm sand for the pot holding the egg she already had... was that a twitch? ... Hatching sands, with a detour to the kitchens first then. She turned to talk to her dragon out loud but all she saw was a white tail disappering "I'll meet you there then?" she chuckled.

Asparagoth made his way as fast as his trembly legs would carry him, down to the hatching sands and made his way towards the younger green, "Greetings, thank you for letting us know little sister" he purred, settling himself near her while waiting for His to come from the kitchens, smiling how disgusted she had been when having to cut her own meat when he Impressed to her, she'd grown out of that revulsion pretty quickly since she hadn't wanted anyone else to do anything for him, except herself.

Kindra followed shortly, settling herself near the clutch, she'd had the forethought to bring a cushion from Asparagoth's wallow (she'd given him one of hers so he had a softer place to lay his head) so she wasn't burned when sitting on the sands. She took the chance to settle the egg she'd already claimed, on the sand in front of her, the hot sands better than a pot of sand that needed to be swapped regularly, raising an eyebrow at her white.

Cyrille

The Caverns now?! The Candidate sighed, lifting her instrument and moving for the caverns again. She stopped once only to collect some peices of meat from the kitchens in hope before moving on, instrument in oncee hand and mear in the other before enting the caverns. Her expectations were low and spirit defeated gor now, but she did approach, holding a hand full of fresh strips of marbled, succulent meat tenders out as she hummed her melody from earlier to herself quietly.

Robin (And Blue dlit Glory

Robin had fed Glory as soon as he hatched, but not seeing Cyrille triumphant in the Candidate barracks had worried Robin. That was her baby sister, and Robin rushed for the caverns -- if she could perhaps find Glory hope of a lady, she might get her sister an egg later, however shewas surptrised entering the Hatching Caverns to see Cyrille already there, holding out succuulent strips of meat. And so Robin smiled, moving beside her sister to hold out a handful of stew meat carefully, Glory watching from his perch in curiousity. Oh, but would His do good? He thought so!

Amila and Green Seistreth

BABIES! Seistreth nearly bowled her ridrtr over rushing to the caverns, her new green flit perched on her brow as Amila managed to stop Seistreth a moment to just ride in, the green sliding yto a stop with a triumphant look. However, aMILAmila slid down first and approached, providing a handfil of leftovers from feeding newly hatched green Cypress in excitement. Seistreth seemed to giggle, eyes whorling delight at her rider. It seemed Amila was as awful as she was after all!

Many of the eggs were moving now. #39 shimmied in place, #37 flopped over to one side and wriggled, while #23 gave a determined bounce, cracks rippling out from the top of the shell. Not to be left behind, #29 made a loud snap as a fragment of egg popped off the shell, flying through the air and landed gently on the sand outside the basket.

The first to appear was #26, tiny claws scratched at the cracks until a hole large enough for the firelizard was formed. The tiny blue looked down at himself with displeasure. Not moving from the basket he began to preen. No, he needed all these bits of shell and egg off. And this sand too. There would be none of that. He didn't even spare a glance as #27 beside him began to twitch, lines already criss-crossing the shell. No, he was far too caught up in his cleaning.

User Image

Cracks were forming across the shells of #38, #12 and #32. The majority of the eggs now were started to move in earnest, though a few still stayed in their warm sandy wallows. One that was not content to stay was #23. Their bouncing became more determined that ever, until they broke through with a thunk. A brown head popped out of the egg, shaking this way and that to dislodge egg shards. Claws pushed the opening until he was able to slip free, shaking to clean himself before hopping onto the side of the basket and looking around brightly. So, what was going on here?

lol Cyrille

Cyrille remained perfectly still, watching the firelizards begin emerging in silence, the tune on her lips fading as she considered compositions. Such a large number deserved a song of victory, and the candidate felt her sister's hjand rest on her back reassuringly. They would come; she needed only wait.,

Robin abd vkyw Glory

Babies! Well, other babies, Glory supposed, but the blue was still an excited newborn seeing others emerge, prancing about Ropbin's shoulders in excitemenyt. As for Robin, the Candidate chuckled at Glory's excitement, smiling as she rest her free hand on her little sister's back, hand extended forwards as well.

Amila and greens Seisterth asnd Cypress

Amila held still and patient, hand of food extended carefully. Cyp[ress had already eaten most choice bits, the baby flit nestling on Seistreth's head comfortably, as Amila watched, waiting. Cypress could do with a companion besides hearing Seistreth insist she was the flit's new mother, and the woman offered the freshly born males a smile of welcome. How cute!

Kauri

Kauri had not been egg hunting. She'd come to the caverns for a quiet reading spot with chores done only to find the anarchy and bedlam of the weyr piled onto one spot, and she blinked, head tilting as she studied the group silently befoire sighing. No escaping it then. Wren smoothed her coat and pants before spolitting open her meat roll, a treat from breajfast reserved for later, that now seemed destined for a firelizard, and she held half out to the haytchlings curiously. Would they like cooked meat? COULD they eat cooked meat?... She had no idea.,

A'no and Brown Hivapath

A'no rolled his eyes at his dragon. Don't you ever stop? Hivapath gave a good natured harrumph. It was worth a try. The pair headed off with their prize.

M'tha and Green Glafateth
The pair continued to search with no luck, until Glafateth lifted her head when Ostarath called that the eggs were hatching. Well I guess now's our chance mine! Let's see if we can get a firelizard! M'tha laughed and nodded. They headed to the cavern. She was relieved to see that meat scraps had been provided. "Thank you Ostarath!"

Claiming a small handful of meat for herself, the woman and green settled down a little ways away so they weren't hovering over the new hatchlings and tried to coax one to them.

Candidate Verria
Oh! They were back at the hatching cavern! She hurried over to see if she could be lucky enough to claim a little friend for herself. Shyly she approached. Some people were already there. Did they wait in line?

V'lla and Brown Ardnamuth
Mine, Ostarath is back at the hatching cavern. She says the eggs are hatching. We should hurry or they'll leave. V'lla nodded. "Right! Let's get a little lizard for ourselves!" V'lla and Ardnamuth made their way over and waved to the green. "They beat you to the punch hu?!" She laughed and helped herself to some meat. Seeing a candidate standing uncertainly nearby, the brown grabbed a mouthful of the scraps and brought it over to Verria, waiting for her to hold out her hands. You won't get any like that. Take this and think happy thoughts!

Candidate Verria
She was surprised when a young brown came over with a mouthful of meat. Verria held out her hands as a slightly drooled on pile of meat was put into her hands. "Uh..... Thanks." Right think happy thoughts. She crouched down and looked at the hatching eggs. She really wanted a firelizards, and she'd stuff their belly full of meat and oil them every day.

L'yan and Bronze Washawath
L'yan was surprised when his dragon informed him there was hatching firelizard eggs down by the hatching cavern. The bronze hinted that perhaps he should go down and see if one would be his. The rider smiled and nodded at the prodding. He headed down, waving to those already there and set him up to see if he could attract one.

F'ked and Blue Lerenth
Hatching firelizards hm? Well why not. Sounds like fun. The older rider also went to the hatching cavern. His green perched on his shoulder added her humming to the other 'lizards.

Oregano's Fair

It wasn't long before Oregano landed on the sands of the hatching cavern. The heat made the green firelizard begin to steam, evaporating the water from her damp hide. A small fish clasped in her jaws as she looked at the basket surrounded by people. The green was quickly followed by seven other firelizards, mostly blues. Another green has a shred of meat that she stole from a carcass in her jaws. Durian showed the leader of her fair the chunk of meat proudly, before she was nudged out of the way by Blackcurrant. The striped blue puffs out his chest showing the half eaten meatroll he had found. Meanwhile Gally, Gren and Goose all tried to wrangle the still living spiderclaw they had brought. Strawberry's jaws were pointedly empty. At least he'd showed up. Meanwhile Acerola peeped sadly, noting that the scrap of meat he had brought was smaller than Durian's.

It had been a long while since the fair had tried to take on new members. Oregano had hoped that either she or Durian would successfully clutch to increase their numbers but turns had passed and they had not been successful. More members were what Oregano desired for her fair, so she would seek out opportunities to get them. Hopefully the green and the firelizards with her would not stop her fair trying to lure the youngsters to their number. They had brought food, she had told her fair to gather whatever they could find. Hopefully appearing with a ready supply of food would show what good survivors they were and that they could provide for any youngsters that came their way.

#26 was entirely caught up his cleaning, until he wasn't. The little blue seemed to finally be satisfied with the state of his hide. He turned his head sharply towards the adults of various species that had surrounded his hatching place. He sniffed the air and felt his stomach rumble. This sensation was new. Hunger. The blue did not like it at all, and he knew immediately what needed to be done to solve this sensation. Looking around the newborn launched himself at Cyrille wrapping his tail around her wrist and sinking his teeth into the strips of meat into his hand. You! You would feed him. Now!

Daffodil Blue - Fussy, Erratic, Impulsive

A thick crack split down the centre of #34, beside it #38 crumbled, a small green left surrounded by the fragments. Climbing to her feet she quietly looked at the crowd gathered around her. She quickly climbed out of the basket, pacing away from the main throng of attention. As she climbed her keen eyes trained in on the lines spreading across the surfaces of #17 and #4.

User Image

No sooner had the green left the basket than #22 exploded, a rich brown sitting on the sand. His eyes whirled a dull and irritated orange and he looked around at all the faces looking down. What were they all gawking at? Picking himself up the brown slunk away, stepping over #10 as it started to rock back and forth. The newly hatched firelizard was almost out when the pale pink #1 rolled into his path. The brown gave an irritated snort, hopping out of the basket and landing on the sand with a soft thump.

User Image

Now left alone by Daffodil Blue, #27 shook in earnest. Cracks lined the egg, but refused to give as it rolled back and forth. The firelizard inside could be heard irritably peeping as they thrashed about. The egg jerked back and forth, colliding with #29, #34, and #25 cracking the last egg it slammed into. The egg collapsed, sending the green firelizard rolling head over tail into #13 and cracking that egg too. Picking herself up the green looked around with a happy cheep. She'd finally managed to get free. Pouncing forward the green accidentally landed on #1, breaking the shell and tangling with it's occupant. The much darker green gave a shriek of surprise at her sudden entrance into the world. She snapped and hissed at her sister, sending #27 quickly darting out of the basket, leaving the dark #1 to hiss her displeasure.

Asparagoth resisted the urge to nose the basket as flits began hatching, watching as one prim little blue impressed "Hurry up Mine, they're all hatching"

"Patience Asparagoth" she said quietly, forgetting for a moment to use their mental connection to talk as she was concentrating hard on the fire lizards, wondering which would be good for training, who was going to behave, so far the one she'd eyed first impressed elsewhere, leaving a brown perching on the rim. The first thing she offered was some slices of fish, knowing most wild flit eggs were laid on beaches, fish was usually the most available source of food for hatching babies, she made little noises to try and attract the attention of the now, multiple flits that had hatched.

cYRILLE AND bLUE aDVENTURE

cYRILLE ALMOST FLINCHED, ALMOST -- BUT SHE'D sTOOD FOR DRAHGONS, AND THIS WAS NOTHING. wHEN THE BLUE ENTWINED HIMSELF WITH HER WRIST, vcYRILLE WAS WIDE EYED WITH WONDER, LETTING HIM FEED. aS FOR THE NEWBORN BLUE, HE PICKED OVER THE OFFERING CAREFULLY, CHOOSING THE TENDEREST SLICES FIRST AS HE SETTLED IN TO CHASE AWAUY THE UNPLEASAnt gnawing feeling in his belly. Cyrille smiled as her sister cast her a questioning look.

"His name's Adventure, of course." Cyrille noted, stepping away slightly. Adventure grumbled at the movement, but didn't fight it, pudhing a few slices of meat that did not suit him to rhe ground, before snapping up another peice happily.

Robin anf Blue Glory

Robin breathed releif as her little sister Impressed the small blue and smiled at the name Adventure. Her hand remaoined out for the hatchlings, however, as Glory shifted to reposition himself on her shoulder, watching affairs with brilliant green eyes as he stayed patient. There was plenty of good things all around, and he hoped the others could see, oh he did, and the young blue trilled brilliantly to his fellows. Welcome welcome, friends! Come see the variety!

Amila, and greens Seistreth and Cypress

A blue Impressed one of the Candidaters, and Seistreth resisted a bugle of celebration for the new pair -- for not dragon, but still a good little life in good hands, and the green raised her head, shutting her eyes contentedly as Cypress cheeped and shifted on her head, indignation evident until she saw the view. Well, okay, if theirs was just getting a baby she supposed it was fine. Amila giggled at Cypress' cheeping, hands still out before looking to L'yan.

"How's Wosjawoth holding up with all the excitement? Seistreth... Is excited, but... Not all dragons seem so....?"

Kauri

A blue Imprrssed, but there were []So many babies hatching. Kauri was getting a little overwhelmed, and the woman blinked before looking to the newly appeared newborns, still holfding the half meatroll -- the half with plenty of seasoned, tasty meat -- out awkwardly before sighing.

"Am I even doing this right...?" She muttered. "Shards, what's Firelizard procedures....|"

K'kar and K'kaw made their way to the hatching sands, being spurred on by their dragons, brown and green, who'd decided to stay back at the barracks, giving the twins some vital time together, both had a bowl each, filled with likely tidbits to tempt a flit.

K'kaw, urged by brown Caffieth, had decided some meatrolls, scrapfs from lunch and all sorts that had been set aside, had also brought a stool to sit on, knowing how hot those sands could be. He grinned at his twin, looking at the flits that had hatched. "That bright green is pretty don't you think K'kaw?" he asked, eyes twinkling as he'd dragged his brother along.

K'kaw of green Leucourth, or inn private, his precious leuleu, initially had groaned at the idea but he'd been urged by his dragon to spend time, fixing the bond between his brother, gathered scraps of meat, different kinds, some fish and some sweets to keep his mouth moist on the hot, dry sands. "Very pretty Kaw, but that brown is impressive too, and those other greens" he said, making sure all the flits picked up from him was welcoming thoughts and the fact he, and his brother had food, precious FOOD...

Both brown and green dragons, more than a little smug as they observed from where they relaxed.

Two eggs hatched at the same time, seemingly unrelated. #17 broke apart easily, spilling a green into the basket. She picked herself up, intelligent eyes glancing from face to face. So many options. #32 had been struggling since early in the hatching, the hatching not being so easy. The egg gave way and a blue trotted free of his confines. The blue looked around at all the people that seemed to be trying to get him to come to them. Giving a small groan the blue flopped down. Why did he always have to do all the work? He'd just gone through all the effort of hatching, you know? Now they wanted him to go to them? Behind him, quietly, the spotted green slunk out of the basket, she had searching to do.

User ImageUser Image

#6 and #39 were starting to break, the two eggs spiritedly shaking and twitching. #4 beat them both, however, the egg splitting down the middle and leaving a surprised green blinking in the sand. She sniffed gently at the eggs around her, peeping encouragement into the crack that had opened up in #25. The green began to nose through the eggs, pushing fragments out of the way and humming encouragement to the other eggs and firelizards that were looking around at others.

User Image

Slinking away from the basket #17 searched for someone to call her own. There were so many people. So many that already had firelizards, or dragons, or people to call their own. #17 wanted someone all to herself. Was there nobody like that here? Casting her eyes around she saw people with firelizards sat on their shoulders, or friends standing close. That wasn't what she wanted. It was then that she spotted what she was looking for. A young woman holding half a meatroll and without anyone else. Letting out a quiet peep the green hurried forward, standing in front of Kauri and crooning up at her.

Columbine Green - Cunning, Sneaky, Lonely

#8 bucked suddenly, bumping into #30 and sending a crack darting along the colourful shell. The egg in turn rolled away and collided with #25, splitting the egg in half. Another green was in the basket, flaring out her wings and admiring herself. Tucking her legs in carefully she sat, poised, looking up at those that had gathered for her arrival.

User Image

Meanwhile, sneaking along was #38. She slipped between feet and further away still from the basket and where everyone was looking. A grumbling in her stomach had the green's steps slowing. Looking back, her eyes focused on the tidbits in various places. It all looked so good, but she didn't really want to go back to where all the other people were. A specific voice among the humming had the green craning her head back to look up. The was a person beside her, #38 hadn't even noticed. Maybe he would feed her. Rising onto her hindlegs the green gently placed her foreclaws against F'ked's leg, quietly peeping.

Saris
With so many other people now joining for the small hatching, the candidate felt herself getting pushed out. Maybe it was better this way, she didn't quite share the enthusiasm. Maybe that wasn't right, every little firelizard that broke shell brought her great joy though it didn't show on her face. They were fine beasts, each blue, brown and green that had hatched so far. What she didn't share was the desire to claim them, they could all fly free and she would not be disappointed.

One the other hand, If one wanted to be her friend... that was different. She wouldn't say no.

Dratani
The hatching of her egg detracted her from the group, let the others whom might not have been lucky try for the others while she focused on her one. Slightly away from the others, yet close enough to clearly see what climbed out of the basket and into whom's arms they climbed into when bonded if she looked over. Would hate to miss the story still unfolding.

The brightly coloured shell finally started breaking away, revealing the marvously surprise inside. She would have been happy with a happy green or a serious brown, charming blue or a serious bronze, But this... this was beyond expectations. A gold! The little queen was shrieking before she was even completely free from her shell, but all the food she could want was presented for her approval and approval was what she demanded. She picked around this bit and that as each one started disappearing down her throat and her belly started to expand. The harper picked away any shell fragments still stuck onto or under the little marvel she she wouldn't hurt herself, murmuring praises to it as she went. What a fine creature she was, how strong and beautiful she was, eat your fill as there was plenty more.

M'tha and Green Glafateth
More and more eggs crack and spilled their adorable contents onto the sands. M'tha cooed over each one. They were all utterly adorable! Whoever they picked, would surely be happy to have them!

Candidate Verria
She tried to ignore the fact the meat already had drool on it, the firelizard wouldn't mind would it? Verria shifted the pile to one hand and held out a piece in the other. She held her breath as more young fireliazards emerged from their shells.

V'lla and Brown Ardnamuth
V'lla smiled and moved to her dragon's other side. Don't hold you're breath. You wouldn't look pretty in blue, unlike a firelizard. Ardnamuth hummed at the firelizards. Two good ladies right here boys!

Candidate Verria
Oh right! She took several calming breaths and glanced over at the dragon's obvious rider when she stood on his other side. "Why is he doing this?"

L'yan and Bronze Washawath
L'yan laughed to Amila's question. "Cool as a cucumber, thanks. It was his idea I come down here actually." He gave a shrug as he held out meat. "Some notice them and some don't."

F'ked and Blue Lerenth
Tiny paws on his leg and a quiet peeping caused the rider to look down with a gentle smile. "Well hello there little darling. Hungry are you? Here have some of this." He fed her a tiny piece as she dainty grabbed it and ate. The older rider knelt down and gently scooped her up and continued to pop pieces of meat into her mouth each time it opened.

S'var

With so many young keen faces crowding around the big basket S'var didn't want to intrude too much. He'd always liked the idea of having a firelizard but life and duty had got in the way, how could he take time off to care for one? Here and now however he finally had the time, and even with as many people pressed around as there were he was confident that there would be one left for him if he bided his time.

So it was that with a little handful of assorted pieces of meat and fish S'var quietly waited his turn, keeping his mind warm and open and calm for any little firelizard that might be looking for such a thing amongst the chaos.

Robin and blue Glory

Ah, more hatchings. Robin smiled, holding out her offering of stew meat chunks as she watched. Cyrille had ducked back to allow her sdister to wait, and Robin was considering what to offer her lizard whom wasd watching. Glory, however, wanted nothing more than to cheep encouragement to the others. They could do it!

Amila and Greens Seistreth and Cypress

"That's how it was with Seistreth." Amila smiuled to L'yan, nodding to her green as Seistreth ctreeled softly in greeting. "She wanted a nbaby to love. Empty nest syndrome I suppose. But I do admit, I love Firelizards too." A smile and a chuckle.

Kauri and green Emerald

Kauri was surprisded to be greeted by the tiny green as she came to the woman, but the candidate smiled awkwardly as the green climbed her arm.

"Goodness, you look like a little emerald, don't you?" Kauri crooned, and the green cheeped, nuzzling st the woman as Kauri afforded her some meat roll. The treat, before delicately accepted the cooked meat as she ate tidily, but she did hope she got a nice sdtrip of raw meat soon. Oh, please provide, and not the icky discarded peices!
