The 9 tailed refused to have another animal help Naruto through merging. Meanwhile, the new animal summoning pain is revealed to be a corpse reanimated.

After learning about Naruto's location, the Pains retreat and the final one uses his Almighty Push to destroy the village. Naruto is summoned by Lady Shima who is one of the elder frogs.

Minato talks with Naruto for a while then redoes the seal. Promising that it would be the last time he did so. Naruto then confronts the last fake Pain and beats him with a rasengan after withstanding his almighty push with shadow clones. He also found out where the real pain is.

After hearing the remainder of Nagato's story, Naruto chooses that although he still cannot forgive Nagato for what he did, he believes in Jiraya more and chooses not to attack Nagato. Therefore Nagato chooses to undo some of the damage that he had done.
