Sunny

The snort had the woman in lace glancing with brows creased and confusion in sunset eyes, but she didn't hold Sunny's attention or concern long. Not when she could practically feel the distress rolling off her friend in waves.

She smiled at the nickname, her head dipping in a tiny nod, even if she wasn't sure she needed to offer any confirmation. "Hi." It was soft, as soft as the brush of fingers against Chauvet's arm as Sunny stepped in close enough for hushed tones. Chauvet didn't have to open up to her, she would have understood if it was something too personal to share, but she also hadn't sent her away.

She blinked as Chauvet let it all out in one rapid rush. "Not a squire?" Sunny shot a quick look up at Miss, agreeing with the question. Why did it matter if Chauvet wasn't a squire yet? She'd get there in her own time. Sometimes it happened fast, sometimes it took a while, and that was fine too. "She's right, that's not big deal. It'll happen when it happens."

A voice from above cut off any further attempts to comfort her friend, and Sunny startled as what looked like a ball of light coalesced into a girl. A girl that was scolding Chauvet for having told them what was bothering her. Dark lips tugged down in an unhappy frown Sunny watched and listened. Unhappiness warmed to irritation, and finally anger as the two continued on, and Sunny had to stop herself from stepping forward to jerk the fur from the smaller figures hands to keep her from forcing it on her friend.

Then tears, pain, shared knowledge, and finally--

Sunny gasped at the slap, a hand flying up to cover her mouth as she stared between the two. "Stop, this isn't-" whatever her protest might have been was cut off as the smaller of the two disappeared. Their Chauvet looked up then, out into the crowd, at them, and Sunny saw the red on her cheek before she was darting away. "Wait!"

Too late. She was gone.

Dark hands had balled in her skirt, lifting it out of the way to run after her friend, but she stopped short of actual pursuit, letting the lacy gown fall back around her legs.

Jägerin

Where ever they wanted. It had a nice ring to it, And compliance melted away into eagerness as Porsha's snapping heels picked up a little in pace to patch that long-legged stride of his as he steered the both of them easily through the crowd. And where his gaze swept through them, her's lingered on what she could see of his face, hidden as it was by the mask. Really, he might as well have not been wearing it. She could see the sweep of his cheeks, the cut of his jaw, all of it just as easily as if there was no mask at all.

They were headed upstairs. Away from the crowds? How far did this party spread out through the wonder? She certainly had no idea. It was still surprising to her that she was even allowed to be here. It seemed a gross overlook in security.

Not that she was complaining for the opportunity or what had become of it.

Champagne and a lighter. One of those was easy enough to get, and Alois proved as much as he effortlessly scooped a pair of flutes from a tray as they passed a waiter. The latter was not so easy a find, nor was it clear why they'd need it, but Porsha scanned the room they were moving through.

There, a pair of well dressed gentlemen, one with a long, thin cigar at the corner of his mouth and rectangular weight in the front vest pocket. A slight adjustment let her accidentally on purpose run right into him, and she as she apologized profusely for her clumsiness and relieved him of the lighter in his pocket.

She tucked it into the pocket of Alois' slacks smoothly.

Anubis

It was like looking through two lenses at once. Two worlds superimposed, one over the other. Bright colors and starlight battling against the dullness of age and something overhead that blocked the glimmer of sparkling light. Jackal felt himself sway as the overlapping senses grew to overwhelming, and he reached out to catch himself on a pillar, unaware that someone on the other side of it had just done the same. Unaware until he heard the faint movement of metal on metal and feet hitting the ground practically beside him.

Brows drawn down he leaned around the pillar to watch the blonde in black as she pushed a veil from her face and something clicked. Or someone.

Focus wavered momentarily as Adel was pushed aside to make way for someone else. Then he straightened, a hand coming up to push up the jackal mask. He leaned around the pillar, shoulder resting against it and arms folding as he stepped in closer. "Blacks not usually your color, but you do wear it well."

He was used to her in creams and blues and whites. Soft white hair windswept and wild, and the brightest of smiles perpetually residing on that lovely face.

Silent Knight

The gap between Alphonse and Lorne was not at it once was, and more to the point, much of the gap was due to his own fear rather than any profound division between the two. Lorne and Alphonse were soft and well-mannered, they were fans of the arts, of nature, of beauty.

They both loved Methone, both deeply, both profoundly. It was really only the words themselves that set them apart in the end - ironically, it was Lorne was all his stammering and blushing that did it. But here they were, once and again, walking in a memory on the cusp of a future shared.

He laughed at her joke, enchanted and bemused as always. "Hardly, " and take the lead he did, a hand settling warm and heavy at her hip while the other grasped tightly at her soft hand. "Everything may shine, but you, you glow.."

The redness of his cheeks would again be lost, although there was no obscuring his smile. It was funny, although he'd not say it as so, but it'd always been a dream he'd cherished himself, coveting on nights that he lost himself to music by candlelight. "I hope the reality does the dream justice. I'd hate to let you down, Aurora Night."

Reaper

At some point between transitioning from the foyer to gallery, Reaper had acquired a flute of champagne and when his companion had politely declined it, he had sipped on it himself. Undeniably, he was a whiskey man instead of a champagne man and normally he would have passed on a beverage from a place so order but he seemed to be in an almost uncharacteristically good mood.

"Not enough to warrant procuring one," he replied lowly, leaning in so that his voice didn't have to carry and his words were for her alone. While the pieces looked exquisite, they didn't look like anything that would fetch a price on Earth.

Whiskey gold flicked across the gathered, his gaze lingering on the intricately woven tapestry featuring the man in lavender and immediately he released Pumpkin Queen to reach into his pocket, as if he could find the pocket watch he tried to carry on him always. "Excuse me," he mumbled, before he left her side to approach the tapestry.

Nessy

Pendour nodded. "A designer, mostly. A-"

She cut herself off abruptly. These people weren't ringing the alarm bells in her mind the way the broken ones usually did, but she had no way to know for sure that they were friends, people she could trust, at least, to know things about her regular life, her job, while she was out wearing her knight clothes. Her half-mask would only hide so much.

She still smiled a little. "And a painter sometimes," she added.

Ghosts, somehow, seemed safer to talk about, and Pendour nodded. "Yes, ghosts. I don't know if it's what people call them often, but it's what they are." She turned to squint through the crowd but couldn't make out anything specific enough to know for sure. "Um, ancestors, I think, is the proper term. Only knights have them. Genevieve was one." She nodded, a bit more confident, before her brow furrowed again. "Oh, if you know what knights are. We're at a knight's wonder right now. It seems like a lot can happen up here.

Resilience

The concern slowly ebbed away after her response, though confusion (however slight) seemed to take its place. He could understand that she'd gotten the invitation in the mail...though that did make him wonder if she knew Chauvet, the current Chauvet, somehow...but what she said about "getting more from it than her" went a little over his head. Still, he offered her a comforting smile and slipped his arm over her shoulders to pull her closer and hold her gently against him.

"I'm not sure I follow. Is it something you wanna go into more detail about to explain?" Or did she perhaps also have an odd memory or something of the sort, like him just a little while ago. Granted his had been more fragments of a memory, but it was a memory all the same.

Observer

"Mmmmm I... I think I remembered something from her, when she was alive. Something about how this came to be here." Observer said, quietly, as she gazed at the telescope. "I think she really was me, once upon a time."

And if so... Whoever that other man had been, the Strange Man had reminded her of Resilience, and she felt a little lighter, in some ways, at heart, because it confirmed her belief that they were meant to be together, no matter how many lives they might live.

"I am ok, though, Babe. Promise." She hoped, hoped that he would not ask for more details about the memory, because it would come too close to things she did not want him to know.

Aurora Night - Methone

It was odd to be called such, but after all, they had been two different knights around different types of war. Her arms slid around closer to him and it was like an old ghost spread over her. Her body type changed just slightly to mirror the new inhabitant .

"Sometimes on my world, I look up to the lights in the sky and think of a painter..." She mused, "If he was on saturn, brushing the paint over my world and making it ribbon dance with lights." She smiled as they swayed.

"Did we ever go to a ball together before?" She rested her head against his chest. "Did we ever get a chance to dance before?

Silent Knight

In a perfect world, he'd never have to release her... in a way, now, he never would again. It did not undo the heartache of the past, but it made the future that much brighter. Bright like her lights.

"You give my brush too much credit, " he remarked warmly, savoring the feel of her cradled close to him like that. It felt like their own world in that moment. "None out there give Methone the justice she deserves." The senshi or the planet.

"We had this party, " Alphonse responded quietly, then amended, "We have this party." They were in the past, not the now. "You're quite good at this, you know - being danced with."

Chauvet

Something shuffled behind the door, but it didn't open.

"...Hi," came the page's muffled response. There was a moment of silence, and then a long sigh. "I...really mucked this up, didn't I? Just another reason I can't--I was never supposed to be this. I'm just a second-string page--that's why this is so hard. It has to be. It's so...much. I'm never going to be good at this, I'm so bad at paging I got my own guide yeeted from the premises."

Another sliding sound, and then a soft thud.

"Go hang out at the party, Still. You don't need to hang out with...Lame Petticoats McGee." Though it came with no accompanying sound, her voice had the tone of someone who was slumped and pouting.

Blackbird

Blackbird knew who she was. Her name was Zircon. She had the power to command dark armies.

Blackbird knew who she was. Her name was Kestrel. She communed with a mountain pass and it gave her its blessing.

She saw both of these histories in tandem, reaching through her thoughts and mingled like two breezes, ebbed and flowing, and when she glanced up she saw stars-glass-stars sparkling in her eyes. Sometimes, the streams would mingle, common points that threaded together in her experience. Blackbird knew she was looking for someone, and she ached.

She caught a flicker of silk before she heard the voice, but Blackbird turned all the same, folding her hands together under the wings of her sleeves. She didn't know him--but her starseed did, and recognition lit her eyes up like the dawn.

"Am--" She paused, the name twisting around in her mouth before she had the chance to say it properly. "Ab--Go--Oh, this is ridiculous." Instead, she said what words couldn't by reaching for his hands, unfolding them from his torso so she could selfishly hold them instead. "Are you well, Pageling? Does this life suit you?" As much as she was Kestrel-but-Not, Blackbird knew that this person must be Amon-but-Not, cast of the same mold but not of the same mind. She didn't know him, which made her wonder what sort of strange world this must be, that she hadn't yet become acquainted with her Uranian brother-at-arms.

She happened to glance past his shoulder to a creeping shadow and her heart lurched. Though his face remained covered, Blackbird would know the hue of those eyes across any distance, dusked gold and full of mischief. It was a color she never expected to see again, bound in greys and lavenders the way he was never meant to be.

Her lips parted, her eyebrows rose, and she squeezed Amon-but-Not's hands. She dared not move, in case she spooked the illusion and caused them all to disappear.

Aurora Night - Methone

"I had always imagined that you were on saturn still though, painting away." She had thought a lot of the knight of saturn that had allowed her into his room and into his life. Though nothing really came of it immediately.

They were at a ball, and that's all that mattered. "We do." She didn't know how else. She should've confessed her feelings there, but there wasn't the memory of those types of confessions.

Wasn't she just a memory in the body of someone who was a host of memories?

She giggled, bright and cheerful. "Well you know, they say the methone senshi all specialize in dancing." She swayed away, circling around the knight. "Do you like this dance?" She laughed now, as they continued to sway. "I'm so glad we could we do this."

Even if it was so long ago....or it was now .

She didn't know.
