______________The Narrator Snarls...| tab Charlotte put her hand up to forestall Tatsuki's words even as Finn looked to her and she turned her eyes to meet his. "Now, look, Lord Oragor aside I wouldn't let you go in there by yourself," she hastily responded, hoping to forestall the girl from entering without any sort of supervision. Crouching down she placed a hand upon Finn's shoulders with a look of concern. "I wouldn't be surprised if Lord Oragor put some manner of defense in here. Finn, if that door is open someone is within. Can you see them? Anyone in there from here?" Eyes searching his face for answers she held up a finger to forestall Tatsuki's likely response to forestalling the boy's own. tab Focus would be his best tool if he turned his eyes to the mess of yellow within. They would crisscross, back and forth, but always above head height as if watching from above. And there, within the browns and greys of foundations of the world, being earth and stone, there was a mass of human-shaped mana that looked red in nature. Different, less bloody, but more passionate and fierce than Oragor's, the red stood out against its field of greys and browns. tab"You can see things we cannot, my friend," Charlotte continued as she observed his expression with utmost care. "What do your eyes see? What awaits us in the dark?"

Like a child pretending to serious, Sundance's brows scrunched and his lips pursed. Kagerou smiled compliantly, not uttering a word about how she knew he was acting. Her opinion of him had almost improved as he talked seriously on the topic of affections.
Almost...
If only Sundance's look hadn't suddenly changed. The green haired preteen shuffled a little bit away as the monkey boy's eyes glinted with an emotion she, admittedly, found disturbing to see on such a youthful face. However, despite the awkward sweat drop running down the side of her head, Kagerou's amiable smile preservered. "Ahaha," Kagerou laughed off her discomfort, "The answer, of whether you should only show your real self or actively try to shape yourself into something someone else desires, is something only you can answer for yourself. I... um... My only request for showing you what I do, though, is if you'll kindly... not look at me like that?".
「XXXX Finn opened his mouth to respond to Tatsuki, but she continued before he was actually able to find words. Something about her words had...irked? him. Maybe not, but it did upset him. He didn't appreciate being talked to like he was a child, despite his nervousness. While, as far as he could remember, he'd never made it to the point of being considered an 'adult', he didn't want to be rewarded as though he'd gotten a good grade on a test. Still, he found himself smiling sheepishly, even if his heart wasn't in it. In doing so, he gave Charlotte the floor to answer the girl's request to look after her bird.
Charlotte spoke up, directing her words at both of them and explaining that she wouldn't allow the pair of them to go in by themselves. Further, she pointed out that someone must have gone in ahead of them and rather poetically asked Finn to take another look. Feeling a bit confused, he turned his gaze back to the opening. He placed his hands on either side as leverage to pull himself partially inside of the cave--no more than his head, but enough to look around. To the side, previously out of view, he did indeed find another form. Bright red rather than dark like Oragor's greeted him. Whoever they were, they weren't moving around, but they were alive, he guessed, otherwise he probably wouldn't have been able to see the body.
Unsure of the person's intentions in being there, Finn didn't make a sound, freezing instead when his gaze settled on them. Shifting his grip, he silently pulled himself free of the hole and sat back on his heels. "There's someone inside," he said quietly. "I dunno if they're friendly.XXXX」

Tatsuki turned around to look at and listen to the older girl speak. Looking down at the ground before meeting the ladies gaze. Hakaze began to leap off the womans shoulder and circle in the air As Tatsuki took in the woman's words to heart. She didn't know much about teamwork other than the ONE mission where she was just starting to go in a squad with her mentor and that ended in her being a rock for years on end... The only other cooperation she knew of was with Hakaze and her trying to be friendly with the girl who she had gotten in trouble because of her words. Tatsuki looked as the woman asked Finn for another opinion on what maybe lurking inside. Tatsuki looked to Finn and his... what was she anyway? a sponsor like farm Hand? a bodyguard? Well whatever the case Tatsuki gave a indifferent look as Finn began his scope. When he was finished he told them someone was in the way which left Tatsuki a little wide eyed before returning to normal and softly smiling.
Tatsuki looked at the lady and Finn together she gave a nod and said, "I guess.. that means we should team up.. right? I have to go down there as per my mission mandate by my 'sponsor' If you and Finn want to help though I have no complaints just worry... I dont want you guys getting hurt over what I have to do..." With that Tatsuki looked to the both of them and sighed her expression solid, "So.. what do we do from here then?"

Takeda's eyes caught on to the strange movement of the shadows quickly. It wasn't an odd thing for him to catch on to irregularities so easily, especially when his past was considered. A voice that wasn't his own whispered of darkness and hidden truths. They echoed throughout the room yet he knew it was only meant for him to hear. Whether it was a trap or a boon to his curiosity, he'd press on regardless. Whatever it was, he was certain that it would answer some of his questions about the village. The pulse at the center of the room made the hair on his neck stand up, and he was prepared to duck back into a defensive stance until he saw the figure before him. There was no use trying to decipher what the figure was reading, and nothing was familiar with the flowing silhouette itself. Only vague indications that were possibly meant for another, or something tied to memories he could no longer recall. He tried to focus more, force a face or some other appendage onto the image in front of him but nothing came from his efforts.
He was just about to conclude that whatever it was that played out in front of him had no connection to himself until a new trail of fire drew his red eyes to a burned message. His name right before his very eyes.
"Takeda."
His gaze hovered over the burned text until the embers finally faded, a sinking feeling settling in his stomach. It was unsettling. Everything else could've been his eyes playing tricks on him with the help of some basic illusions but there was no mistaking what he perceived then. What kind of enchantment went that far? He was on the verge between continuing or leaving when he heard voices come from behind him. Were guards already sent to retrieve him? Could it be that the enchantment notified its owner the moment it came down? If that was the case, there was no mistake that it was created by someone with the influence to send guards out on such matters. He turned his head towards the sounds and managed to just barely see movement before there was nothing once more.
He briefly thought of what his odds of escape were. Blitzing past them and leaving seemed like a solid option but he didn't know how many people were outside. There was probably a hiding spot past the split wall that he could lay low at until the coast cleared. If not that, he'd have an element of surprise should his weapon need to be drawn. Besides, if he left right then there was a large chance that he wouldn't get the present opportunity again.
Steeling himself and confirming his decision, Takeda made his way to the wall and worked his way through. It was a tight fit, but the small bit of light that made its way through the crack helped him enter without too much trouble. Once on the other side, he'd activate his blindsight to continue his exploration without hindrance. If he was lucky, the ones who were behind him would take their sweet time catching up to him.

______________The Narrator Snarls...| tab Echoes resonated from the hall as Takeda pushed his way through the crack, the emptiness amplifying what should have been a whisper. Yet his presence did not go unnoticed as a calm, steady light steadily rose to a dim radiance just above that of a torch. It revealed a hall of grey stone and silver accents that extended quite some length into the distance, the end of which was lost in shadow. Yet the slope at that edge, the way it dropped off suddenly, painted the picture of a stairwell or ledge that couldn't be seen from this angle and distance. If he were to study it he would find odd pictographs upon the walls, depictions of figures in ropes of tattered black and silver jewelry dotting them in different places. Each seemed to show these figures performing different acts, one a figure on their knees in prostration before a large stone figure without detail, and another figure in another mural strangling an infant to death over a great swirling maelstrom. In another, the beings' cloak spread wide as strange dog-like beings with heads in the shape of stone disks climbing from the depths of the cloak. tab Strange indeed, but besides this, he found that the floor spread out before him appeared to be made of some sort of smoky quartz, all fused into one sheet that revealed nothing beneath them. Nothing, at least, that would make sense. At the very edges of his perception and mind, he could feel that something was down there, something beyond what his mind would be able to comprehend. Something that might well be looking back.
tab Charlotte nodded to Finn as her eyes followed where he had been leaning a moment before. Setting herself to readiness she held her hand out to her side as the metal upon her body hummed. "Ma'ey su farus, la'in fyurn tik'kyan!" she chanted forcefully, her demeanor becoming less of support and filled more with the promise of violence. To Finn's eyes a silver light of mana would bud within her right hand as the metal around her, dark grey in color, became as liquid strands and writhed through the air to her fingers. Twisting and twirling about her digits the metals would form in a long, thin blade reminiscent of a thin-edged saber which she twirled in on hand as she tested balance. The mana continued to glow, forming patterns in the blade before Finn's eyes, though Tatsuki would not see the glow only the metal as it became a sword from the remnants of jewelry as they melted to form the weapon. Her hair would splay out around her as the band that held it in place was used, giving her a more wild look than what she'd had moments ago. tab She gestured to Tatsuki to move forward."Tatsuki, lead the way. I'll cover distance while Finn covers recon. Finn, keep an eye on what you can while within. If Mana changes rapidly I need to know, okay?" She turned her eyes to him suddenly, her expression softening. "I'm sorry, that was rude of me. I can have someone cover for me here while I take you somewhere else if you prefer. You need not continue, and it is your decision solely."
「XXXX Physically cringing at the suggestion of being taken elsewhere, Finn looked away from Charlotte, unwilling to meet her gaze. Of all things, anger flickered to life in his chest. Sure, he would have rather gone anywhere other than there, the thought of someone else making the suggestion for him hurt. He was sure it wasn't with the intention of calling him a coward or useless, but hearing it stirred something primal. "No, that's not--" he started, but stumbled over his words. "I want to go." His gaze returned to the woman with as much confidence as he could muster.
Why was her weapon a different color than the rest of her mana? Shaking it off, he pushed himself to his feet, and gave a small, half-hearted smile. "I dunno what those strings in there do, or if that person is friendly, but its dark. And if you can't see them, I... don't want to know what will happen if you..." He trailed off, his brief overcoming of his anxiety waning into nothing again. Instead he just stood awkwardly, letting them finish the statement for themselves. After a moment, his attention fell away too and he fidgeted. XXXX」

The sound of drum beats played on loop through Sunny's head while he was busy completely ignoring whatever it was the Kageoru was talking about. Or maybe ignoring was too harsh of a word, more like replacing the words that came out of her mouth with his own scripted thoughts. OH Sundance you're so hot. I don't even deserve to be in your presence~ Please, I beg you. It would be enough for me just to be your wing man (err- woman). Just let me show you my magic. Well don't you worry my little imaginary honey biscuit. I do know how gracious it is to be in my presence. I'm afraid it just comes with the territory.
Looking back over her now with a twinkle in his eye it was then that the perfect idea idea came to him. "Oh yes yes of course. Anything to keep you happy my dear. Ya know I kinda dig it when you take charge of me~ But if we're gonna make this work then I wanna see your smoooooth jazz magic put to work nowhaddaImean queen? You can't just play that record for anybody, otherwise how will I know you aren't trying to squeeze a fast one by me?" Mind already made up, Sunny skimmed over the crowd of bystanders, his radar love searching for that perfect being whose soul screamed out in need of being uplifted. "There!" His eye locked on a woman moving between stalls. "Trust me she's lonely, I have a knack for reading this sort of thing. So why don't we see who can make her smile first then hm? Would you like to have the first crack or shall I?" With every second the edged past Sundance could feel that burning excitement welling up inside of him ready to burst like that volcano he is! God it suddenly felt GOOD to be alive. He couldn't put his finger on it but something about this girl got him hyped up, so much so he could even feel it in the way he jittered back and forth now.. Maybe it was because her advances made him ready to defend his title as 'love master' or maybe it was because he was just absorbing energy from her like a plant. Well she does have green hair... wait is that how that works? Plants don't give off energy do they? Whatever! Focus Sunny!
Snapping back to reality so hard his glasses almost fell off, Sunny stood waiting for Kageoru's response with nothing more than a pleasant smile about his face (for once).
______________The Narrator Snarls...| tab An appreciative whistle came from behind Kagerou as two figures made their way closer to the duo. One, a young man with long red hair that bore effeminate features but a revealed, sculpted chest, hand a hand to his chin as he eyed Sundance up and down with a calculated, predatory look. It was likely he who had whistled. The girl beside him had one arm draped over the male's shoulders as she watched the spectacle before her. Looking to Kagerou her grin grew into one of appreciation and assumed camaraderie. "Aye, it's good to see another girl who's open to a boy with an appetite as strong as these two's," she proclaimed with all the certainty that only one who truly knew nothing could provide. "How long have yeh been together? You look like the cutest couple I've seen in this city to date, and perhaps ones with a curious interest in even curiouser things~..."

tatsuki looked over to Finn before diverging her attention back to the lady in glasses. At the orders from her new 'team' Tatsuki nodded and looked to Hakaze in the Skies and whistled a command. Hakaze looked down before slowly descending onto a nearby building. Tatsuki gave a nod and said, "Hakaze will have to be stationed out here, birds and caves dont go well together... I'll do my best to give clear details in the cave You can count on it." Tatsuki looked to Finn for a moment before flashing what was probably her cutest smile she could produce. As he gave mention on not wanting to imagine what might happen to them if he stayed Tatsuki walked over to him and gave him a peck on the cheek as she said, "Thank you for your bravery, Finn. But dont think I will be easily to kill. Nor do I assume your... Bodyguard? Anyway She doesnt look like most anything can cut her down like paper." Tatsuki gave one more smile before she turned to the cave entrance And slowly slid her way into the cave. She would wait for The other two to enter. When they did Tatsuki would ask, "I got Finn's name I'm sorry that I didnt ask yours miss bodyguard.. May I ask it now?" Tatsuki would then look around the entrance and used her eyes to brighten the cave as much as shee could to identify any features they should be aware of
The instant Sundance looked back at her, Kagerou knew he hadn't been listening to a word she said. "Rule one of basic social etiquette," Kagerou advised with a smile as she looked over at the target Sundance picked out, "Actually listen to the other side."
Unfortunately, it seemed their game was doomed to end before it even started. Kagerou hadn't even had the chance to graciously give Sundance the first twirl when a flirtatious whistle from behind caught her attention. The 14 year old looked at the two physically older strangers that so boldly approached Sundance. She had to admit, eyes looking back and forth between the two, they did look cute, which was already more than Sundance had going for himself, but in the end, she wasn't interested in anything of that sort. Not when her body was so immature and her own place in this world so uncertain.
Playing it safe, as she almost always ever did, Kagerou quickly cleared away any misunderstandings, waving a hand in front of her face as she explained, "Oh, no no. I think you've got it wrong, Miss. Sundance isn't my type at all. Even if I do have a thing for animal ears and fluff, Sundance is... How should I put this? He isn't a cute monkey at all?". As innocent as can be, Kagerou smile and thoughtfully poked her cheek with a finger as she answered. Her hand sliding down, Kagerou finished her explanation, "He's just a new friend and I'm just trying to help him get a little better at flirting."
Maya was a bit dizzy. You would be too in the light of so much new stimulus. That was ok, her ship was broken and she new this. Her eyes followed the various people as she popped up her collar and kept moving through the crowded streets. It seemed like some sort of festival was going on. Only explanation her mind offered her in this situation. Rainbow eyes? Dragons head? The actual hell? These costumes were top notch. She was stopped by a girl that seemed to notice her, a fruit offered. She was hesitant at first but the woman was making a clean living selling these. People were eating them. She smiled slightly and took the fruit in both hands taking a large bite. The juice swirled over her tongue as she chewed and made a happy sounding noise appreciative of the fruit. Wait. She understood the woman. She was quite sure that she didn't speak any common language with most of the people she heard. Were those fangs? Vampire costume. That she understood! "Your costume is amazing. The fangs look like ivory!" She said a little quiet, trying not to seem too nerdy by even opening her mouth. She swallowed hard, letting the now fruit pulp slide down her throat as a bit of juice hung from her lip. She didn't think too much of the speech impediment, though when she heard it she stood up more straight to emphasize her height. A subconscious stiffening at the back that had been drilled into her to hold herself higher than people not of the aryan race. Not that it was a true ideal in herself, but an captain no matter how hastily promoted needed to maintain a modicum of etiquette. "Thank you for the fruit. It was rather necessary. Is there a festival of some sort going on? I feel incredibly under dressed..." She mentioned a little bit, chunking off another large bite that once again left the purple juice droplet hanging off a small scar on her lip.
______________The Narrator Snarls...| [Apologies. Tenshu said he was going to post and never did. As such, I've waited long enough and am posting now] tab The confidence that Finn bore was something she could never undermine, nor would she wish to. It took strength, the kind that would be insulted were it to be acknowledged. She moved to speak with Tatsuki interrupted, kissing Finn upon the cheek and offering words of encouragement that made him look the child, doing exactly what she'd intended not to do. A part of Charlotte wanted to backhand the girl for unwittingly tarnishing the advancement that Finn had just displayed but the action had been just that, unwitting. It was obvious no insult was made but a look at Finn's expression told her it likely carried as such either way. tab Rather than compound what had happened she instead moved on, stepping forward to follow the girl and keeping her voice low as she answered. "I am Charlotte, and I am his companion, not his bodyguard," she corrected, for as much as she would protect them Finn was meant to protect himself. She was not assigned to assist him in that manner, after all. tab Within the cave it was dark, but a small flame at the center of the following cave gave them a flickering light that cast shadows every which way. It was clear from the movements that it wasn't a strong, growing flame but that barely of a torch or, in fact, a candle. It cast the small cave in a strange light, in many cases giving the impression of something being in the shadows when a closer look would reveal nothing. A hearth at the center, boxes stacked on one side, and a small book about the size of a journal laying on the ground near the hearth. Above lay only haphazardly strewn rocks, roughly hewn or perhaps stuck in place, but nothing of the lines of mana that Finn had explained earlier. That, and not a sign of the figure he'd seen. tab To Finn's eyes, there was more, however. The webbing of light lay across the rocks above, binding it in place, perhaps no more than six feet above their head. Anyone taller would not be able to avoid brushing it. The flames at their feet burned with the inner workings of magic, some sort of mana fueling its life and...the book beside it? Difficult to say, as one moment he saw mana in the book, and in the next it was faded, if not gone altogether. As for the person he'd seen previously he witnesses a flickering of that mana deep within the back of the cave, somehow behind the stone wall that way. Worse, it looked like something moved before him, a wave, an echo that spread out from the figure that bounced off of walls, carrying his sight further than he would be able otherwise. It was brief indeed that he saw parts of the dungeon before them, but it was enough to show that there were things there, in the dark, waiting for those who would enter. What they were defied explanation or definition at this time. For Finn, he simply knew they were there in the moment he could see them. And there were many.

Sundance couldn't have been more offended in that moment if he had tried. First it was Kageoru having the audacity to tell him that he wasn't paying attention and then she put the metaphorical nail on the coffin by SAYING HE WASN'T CUTE? Well his overly dramatic gasp showed very well just how hurt his little monkey feelings were. "Well now MA'AM. I am quite sure that I have never been so humiliated in my life! I may not be able to control certain facets of my appearance, but I work very hard to keep it in the shape that it is. Besides, isn't that something that's left up to the individual? Because I seem to recall that whistle being for me~" Looking over to his red haired amigo for support Sundance took the opportunity to return his lusty gaze. Like a naughty milkmaid caught churning butter where she shouldn't in the stables. "Actually my good new friends perhaps you can help us settle a bet! You see my friends with benefits, of the purely academic mind you, seems to have gotten it into her head that she is somehow better than this self proclaimed, god of valentines. So, how about it? Willing to help us test that theory?" Following his words Sunny's body would become corporal for the first time since he's been in Kageoru's presence. A fact that was both exaggerated and presented with a cool swipe of his hand through he hair. His shift into cupid mode was complete.
「XXXX Though Tatsuki came close to him, Finn didn't expect her to go so far as physical contact. Just that close was discomforting, but when she pecked him on the cheek and gave her response to his brief moment of bravery, he lit up like a cherry. His blind gaze dropped to his feet. It was all he could do not to die of embarrassment--though a large part of that chagrin also came from anger. Not white hot, but the type that made your throat tighten and jaw clench. Humiliation. Was that the word? What was she implying by saying that neither she nor Charlotte would be easy to kill? That he was the weak one? Charlotte wasn't his bodyguard... was she? He... he could protect himself... right?
Who was he kidding? He couldn't even protect those girls. They still... they still died.
Tatsuki said something else but he hardly heard. Thankfully, Charlotte was listening and responded, her voice bringing him back to the present, making him realized they'd moved to the entrance to the cave. She introduced herself as his companion, not bodyguard, and that made him feel a little better. It wasn't entirely wrong, he supposed. Sure, he could throw some punches if needed, but he was no fighter.
He followed them into the cave, crouching slightly as he stood to avoid brushing the glowing webs above his head. Being nearly a head taller than the two women, at least they didn't have to worry about it. He cast his gaze around the relative darkness. A candle provided some light, but what caught his attention was the mana within it. What that meant, he had no idea, as the light source was just a blob of yellowish white to him. A square next to it he swore for a moment bore mana as well, but the flash of color was gone as quickly as it came.
A... pulse? of mana pulled his gaze away from the floor to the path leading further into the cave. He could make out the figure from before, and when it moved--no when something with it moved, the mana pulsed again, lighting up other parts of the cave, and things that lay within it, briefly. Sort of like echolocation. His grievances forgotten for the time being, he skirted around the others and moved closer to the wall the mana seemed to be behind, looking for a way further in. "There's something on the ground next to the fire," he relayed, distracted. "And... I can see parts of the cave for some reason, as well as that figure. There was a burst of mana and the place lit up like a...radar?" He placed a hand on the wall, to search it by touch, or maybe just to steady himself. "There are... things in there that... they feel dangerous..." As usual he trailed off, unsure how exactly to explain. XXXX」
