Bloodoath caught his step a bit and looked over Goldenleaf's face as they walked. For the last couple of days he had been staying very close unless ordered away. Which with food becoming more ready it was easier to trust the rest of the clan to finding food for goldenleaf and his kits. His jealousy was all but set aside as the clan had to move on and of course goldenleaf was going to have his kits. So much ore important things in life. He pricked his ears as Goldenlead waddled... there was no better word for it.... to the front of the clan to talk with sunsong. He heard those words and he felt his hair stand up. "today?" It was a whisper but he trotted back up next to her. "The kits?! Our kits?!" If goldenleaf;s quiet statement didnt get attention then Bloodoath's youthful, anxiety sure would. Dawnbreak flicked her ear as she came back through the underbrush. She had been hunting but had come across something discouraging. She heard bloodoath panicking a bit and assumed that goldenleaf was getting ready to kit. She blinked kindly to the she-cat as she moved up to Sunsong. "While hunting... I found something... A twoleg nest... we probably should give it a wide birth normally... but from what i could see and smell... its abandoned...." she glanced to Goldenleaf and then the sky where soft grey clouds were rolling. "It may be a good place to shelter while the kits come... and if the sky decides to open up and pour on us." She flicked her tail. "I can take another group out hunting too if you want while we all wait." Dawnbreak had been hunting her paws off these last weeks... she didnt want another cat to starve... By leaving they were supposed to be safe from hunger! And yet they had lost another cat... their leader... she was determined not to lose another.

Seeing Goldenleaf approaching, Sunsong slowed, stopping while the rest of the clan moved forward around her. Once her deputy was by her side, the two continued slowly, speaking in soft tones. "Are you sure?" She had never had the time to have kits of her own, "Alright, if you think so. We will let Littleflower know and--"Her ears pressed down and her smile dropped as Bloodoath blabbed loudly, bringing the situation to all cat's attention. She sighed, "Yes, Bloodoath. Your kits." She was about to stop the clan then and there so they could prepare for their arrival when suddenly Dawnbreak padded up to her. "I see... And you are sure it's abandoned? Alright, Littleflower, if you would, try and find what you might about the area to prepare for Goldenleaf's labor. I will take a few cats to patrol this... nest."She looked to the brown tabby, "We will find you somewhere safe to have your kits, Goldenleaf. Rest a while, we won't take long." Sunsong looked around, "Dawnbreak, you and your sister, please lead another hunting patrol. We will all need our strength. Deadeye, Dawnstride, Silverstreak. You three come with me, let's make sure this nest is safe."

Much of his time had been taken up with scouting, and Dawnstride found himself having a bit of revelation about their journey. He loved this. Venturing ahead of the group, roving unfamiliar territory only to bring news of his sightings back to Sunsong - the exploration was invigorating. The cream-and-ginger tom's mood had appropriately soared over the moons. Surely it was only the scouting that had done so; that he had spent more time than ever in the thick of the clan, fraternizing with other cats, had much less to do with it. Right?
Silverstreak in particular tended to be close to paw. Dawnstride had grown accustomed to, and even welcomed her presence He even found himself pointing out things she would enjoy when he was out on his own. What to make of that, he wasn't quite sure. He agreed with her, though. That also tended to be rather common. "It'll be nice to see them, yes, but I'm concerned. Newborn kits will slow us considerably, and Sunsong has given us no signs of where we might stop." A frowning tom glanced her way. He knew that unspoken thought, and it played a large and ominous part in his answer to the question that followed. The male parted his maw to reply --
-- only to be cut off at once by Bloodoath, and the furor his words caused. Dawnstride's ears perked as soon as he heard Sunsong's voice. She had affected rather a commanding ring, of late. "At once, Sunsong." Even as he mewed, his paws made a beeline for the pale female. A rapidly-hardening green gaze glanced significantly at Silverstreak before his head lifted, trying to catch a glimpse of Deadeye's pelt in the throng.

Sunsong was pleased to see the growth in her cats. It had been a difficult and challenging journey so far and with more to come, it was good to see that most of the clan was going well despite the fact. She nodded to her patrol group. On they went, following the instructions Dawnbreak had relayed. It wasn't far off, the two-leg's nest. Spying from the bushes, Sunsong noted that it was different than the ones in the mountain. Sharper, more colorful. Or, at least, it once was. The once brightly colored shiny parts were mostly broken and strange cat scratch covered the stone walls in a myriad of colors. The white she-cat opened her mouth, scenting the area. Sure enough, there was no scent of two-leg. There was a bit of cat though, and beneath that the rare hint of dog. "Patrol the area, I'll make sure no one is inside. Stay close."And with that, Sunsong padded over on silent paws, slinking past the leaning doors.

Son had been the first one to notice the approaching cats. With a nudge he had woken Preacher, the older tom yelping as he was stirred from his sleep. He leveled the great beast with his most withering look, only to be licked all over in response.
"I'm up, I'm up!" Preacher snapped, stirring from his nest and getting to his paws. Son laughed, a raucous sound with its barks, and the two departed the back of the church. If there were to be guests, he had to be certain things would stay just as they had been- peaceful. Calm. No fighting between cats or whatever else they wanted to start.
Son was the first to catch sight of Sunsong, of course. The dog turned and nudged Preacher, drawing his attention to the entering cat.
"Hello there," he greeted, voice rough and tired as it ever was. But he was friendly enough, sitting by the door and hackles unraised. Just an old cat, sitting with his child (even if that child was a great dog, dwarving any of the cats entirely.)
"You seem tired, my friend. Are you perhaps seeking somewhere to stay the night?"

Once in the door, the scents were stronger. Sunsong resisted the urge flatten her ears. She hated the smell of dog. But when a voice echoed out over the long, strangely shaped logs, she swiveled her head and let out a yowl of surprise. "D-Dog!" She should run, every muscle in her body was telling her to, but her sharp eyes saw no malice in the beast's wide maw. There was no fear scent from the cat. Her fur was stuck out in all directions, her eyes wide, nose flared. But she did not move. Her mouth opened once more and she realized that the dog smelled more like a cat! Her voice was small, "What... what is the meaning of this?"

Silverstreak was listening with close attention to what Dawnstride had to say, but she never got a clear answer, for her attention was pulled back to the present at her leader's command. Following after the pale and ginger tom, she perked her ears to find that Goldenleaf's kits were coming, now and that Dawnbreak had found a place that they might be able to safely arrive. But the place, a supposedly abandoned Twoleg den, was to be patrolled and Silverstreak was on the patrol. She waved her tail in farewell to her siblings as she headed out.
As Sunsong directed them to look around the den while she explored the inside, Silver nodded and started to glance around the entrance, catching the whisper of dog on the territory, she was just about to continue on when she heard Sunsong's yowl of a dog. Whirling around, she darted back to the entrance of the den, slipping through it and bristling as she came in with a snarl.
Dashing to Sunsong's side, she flattened her ears, looking with slitted eyes between the new cat and the canine. While the dog may not have attacked yet, for whatever reason, they had to run before it changed its mind. "Sunsong, we have to get out of here." She mewed to her leader. Supposed nine lives from SunClan or not, she was not ready to see another one of her leaders die so soon after the last. Dustfeather was unsure of who to go with in the moment that it was announced that Goldenleaf's kits were coming. When he heard that Duskwing and Dawnbreak would be leading a hunting patrol, he hurried over to the dark grey-blue she-cat. "Can I come along?" He asked. If they were leading it, they'd need more cats, right? Robinpaw purred her ears when Littleflower mentioned that it was a good skill. Then, when she mentioned about SunClan sending her a message, she perked her ears.
"Oh! Well, I'll help you get Sunsong's attention now and-" Cut off by the commotion, she looked up in surprise when Bloodoath made it clear that the kits were coming. Looking forward at Goldenleaf and then back to Littleflower, her gaze became more serious. "What can I do to help?" She asked the Medicine Cat.

”Settle down, Will you two? There’s no need to be so loud,” Preacher sighed, ears flattening. As if to demonstrate the lack of urgency, he got up and wove in between Son’s legs. The dog, delighted by the company, lolled his tongue out and wagged his tail in delight. Preacher looked up to him and smiled, murmuring about being good for company, then looked back to the other cats.
“This is my son, Son. Go on— say hello.”
Son tipped his head to the side, and in gruff and stilted (but still understandable) speech, managed
“Hullo.”
“He came to me when he was a puppy. His owners didn’t realize how big he was going to get, and dumped him in the woods. I took him in and raised him as one of my own.” Preacher seemed to puff up with pride at this, sitting at Son’s paws.
“You’re in my sanctuary now, so I would kindly ask you behave yourselves. There’s quite a few kittens and cats I’m looking after, and I would prefer things stayed as calm and peaceful as they are. If you need shelter and can get along with Son, you’re welcome to stay as long as you need.”

Dawnstride eyed the she-cats, a noncommittal noise brewing low in this throat. But Sunsong skirted past the two-leg doors alone. He watched her a moment, lifting his head just afterwards to judge Silverstreak's direction, before choosing one of his own. Was he terribly pleased about splitting up? No. But with their being so few, and many needed back at the camp for Goldenleaf's kitting... The tom huffed, hopping atop one of the crumbling stone walls. Perhaps Sunclan meant to teach them temperance with this journey: how to see the wisdom of things when they really didn't seem like the best idea.
Ah, well. This was the part of the whole adventure that Dawnstride liked, after all, might as well get on with it. He skulked around the top of the wall, taking in the ruins of two-legs past with wide, curious eyes. There were cats here, that much was clear. The other smell, though... He parted his jaws, inhaling the unfamiliar scent. He'd tasted something like it before, but-
The realization came to him about the same time as Sunsong's yowl. Eyes narrowing, the cat darted further in to join his leader only to find her confronted with a strange, scarred tom and... Oh! Dog. The ears that waned against Dawnstride's skull might have been taken as fear of the shaggy beast, but it was more annoyance at himself. Should've known it was a dog, shouldn't he?
Still, that it was a friendly dog was a bit strange. Raised among cats was even weirder. Despite himself, Dawnstride's ears rounded forward again, clearly directed toward the canine. "Hello." A tame dog! How could he resist responding in kind? The tip of his tail crooked, an intrigued question-mark that promised much more interest in Son than malice - but until Sunsong gave the all-clear, the tom moved no closer.

Despite the praise the older cat gave to the so-called "friendly" dog, Sunsong could not tear her eyes from the beast's strong jaws. There was no way, no way, she would allow her clan to stay anywhere near the monster. She may as well take Goldenleaf's kits and place them at its paws! She opened her mouth to say just as such when suddenly the sun came out from behind the clouds. A beam of sunlight enveloped the cat and his dog and, for just a moment, she caught the scent of Sunseer. 'Trust them, Sunsong. Not all animals are as they seem.'She released her held breath. Forcing her fur to lie flat, she looked to the cats beside her. "I... I see." Determined not to show any more weakness than she already had, she slowly padded forward, sitting herself before the tom and his dog. "My name is Sunsong. This is Dawnstride and Silverstreak," She gestured to each with her tail, "We are of MountainClan. We are journeying to find our new home but one of our queens is about to kit. If..." She glanced once more to the dog and swallowed, "If you are sure it is safe, we need a place for us to stay. Just until the kits are old enough to move."

Sunsong, Deadeye, Dawnstride, and Silverstreak were gone for a while, and Pigeonflight had a bad feeling about this. She did not want to worry herself, knowing that her mentor was probably okay, but then again, they were in a different environment than they were once used to. 'Come on Pidge, they'll be fine. They'll be fine.' she kept repeating over and over.
As much as she wanted to stay close to the rest of the cats who were camped out with her, she did not want to stick around.
Goldenleaf's kits were to arrive anytime, and she did not want to be around for the welcoming of the kittens. She thought that they would be able to wait until they reached their new home. Having kits in an unknown place could easily bring predators, and her clanmates were vulnerable right now.
Pigeonflight sighed, plopping herself a distance away, simply just watching everything around her. She would keep watch.

Silverstreak's eyes had narrowed to slits when the cat spoke, glancing around at their surroundings, but widened considerably when the dog spoke. It... It wasn't natural! She glanced at her leader, Sunsong, to see how she was dealing with all of this, when the soft sound of more paws caused her to glance behind and she felt a wave of relief to see Dawnstride approaching. Reinforcements, sure, but there was something about seeing Dawnstride, in particular, rather than Deadeye that caused her to relax slightly and turn her gaze back to the unusual couple. She could not bring herself to address them as Dawnstride had, but she no longer felt the need to lash out, either in fear or defensiveness at the sight of them, especially when a beam of sunlight came down upon Sunsong. Was SunClan watching over this interaction? Surely they must be.
And indeed, Sunsong's fur stopped bristling and she padded forward towards the others. Silverstreak followed half a tail-length behind her leader as she listened to what she had to say to the strange cat and his...son.
When she was introduced, she nodded her head in curt greeting to the family before them. She was unsure of how it would play out, hearing that Sunsong wanted to house Goldenleaf here to be kitted, surely Goldenleaf would have her own reservations about the dog, but... maybe this was their best option. Besides, the cat, whatever his name was, had said that there were other kittens there. Surely they wouldn't mind a few more, right?"

“MountainClan,” Preacher repeated, a slow blink as he tried to understand. Well. They seemed a friendly enough lot, as evidenced by the cat greeting som so kindly. He gave a nod, and turned to lead the cat deeper into the church. Over time, he and son had collected a bed of grasses and hay from the countryside for cats in need. It seemed this was the perfect opportunity.
“If you need anything of Son and I, you need only ask,” Preacher responded, showing the cat to her bed.
“I do ask, however... there were kittens I fished up from the river. If it isn’t too much— could your mother to be tend them? I’m clearly, ah,” he laughed gently, shaking his head,
“Not equipped for nursing kits.”

Bloodoath was hovering... Jabbering. His normally cool and contemplative self shaken with the news of his kits coming. Even goldenleaf seemed much more calm than the expectant father. He crashed into a few cats as they moved about and when he stepped on Dawnbreak's tail the she-cat rounded.
"Come on! You are coming with us.... Goldenleaf is gonna keep them inside just out of safety at this point." She gave a bemused look and looked to her sister. "Ready Duskwing?" She lead the way out.
Bloodoath gave a huff and looked back to goldenleaf once more. He licked her ear and then designed himself to hunting duty. His paws fell silently in behind the two sisters.
Once down a rocky face and into lush grass, Dawnbreak twitched her tail. "So there are trees there Duskwing... Im gonna head up the river a bit more and hunt right down there.... Bloodoath... Dont get lost...." She laughed and nodded to her sister and the tabby before plodding off to hunt. Alone she followed the river, scenting for any prey. What she found instead though made her breath catch. The Sun danced on the river as it went in two different directions. Causing the land to be split into thirds. She stared at the blinding reflected light. Which way to go... She couldnt think much of food now as sunseers prophecy rang in her ears. Split as the river does... Was now the time?! She turned and raced back to where she had left the cats. "The River!! It Splits!!!" She called loud enough to scare prey, but alert both her patrol mates.
Bloodoath looked up from where he was watching the water, waiting for more fish. One already next to him. "It Splits?! Have we found it?! Our new home?!" He looked from Dawnbreak to the trees where Duskwing would likely be an his red eyes burned. "Lets tell Sunsong! The prophecy.... may be happening now!" Frazzled tom from earlier was replaced with a determined cat. Once they ere all again gathered, Dawnbreak led them back to where the clan was. Bloodoath's one fish would be at least food for goldenleaf. As they got back Bloodoath glanced aaround for goldenleaf, looking to check on her but then his eyes went to the other cats looking for Sunsong.
