Lavender BurninghamLavender didn’t know what possessed her to actually come out to this shindig…but after staying in for the past few days an eating far too much and watching every Halloween-ish movie that she owned…kind of made her realize that perhaps she was a bit lonely. So, out she went, donning as many black articles of clothing that she could find, and picking up her…well. She supposed she could just call it her handbag for the recently deceased.
There. Now she herself was strange and unusual, and heading to what she hoped would be a fantastic part as the one and only Lydia Deetz herself. When Lavender finally got to the party, she navigated her way to the snack table almost at once, picking up a plate and filling it before going and standing against one of the walls, simply watching, lifting the camera she had around her neck from time to time to snap a picture here and there.
There was a pretty good vibe about the place, and the costumes were fun to see…she was glad that she had left her apartment, though she kind of wished she had called Levi and invited him…but…well. Hindsight was always twenty twenty, after all.
Her eyes landed on hair the color of…well. Not something she could describe, but regardless…she knew it well. With a sigh, Lavender closed her eyes, pulling her plate closer and stuffing two small pastry wrapped hotdogs into her mouth at once as some sort of a distraction.
They didn’t taste quite as good as the last few had, and with a sigh, Lavender glanced around, hoping to find someone else that she knew. Someone else that she could focus on. Anything.

Jada (Mother Gothel)
A vampire and a Spanish cardinal. What a pair costume choice- even if incidental. "I find it very appropriate, she assured Genevieve with a laugh. "And you went a nontraditional route with it. You look very nice."
A brow rose at Christa's joke, and Jada shook her head with a small sigh. "Unfortunately there's no saving that one. Clearly we'll be having to double-team her next Halloween to get her into something that doesn't look like a blood-covered raincoat." No one expects the Spanish Inquisition... no, she wasn't going to dignify it with even a chortle.
"Giulia's never been to the Gardens, so I told her we could come for the event. It probably is a good idea to keep close if we can. She's Rapunzel, so naturally I got to dress to match. She wanted me as a Princess, not a Villain, but Mother knows best." Hey, if Christa got to make terrible jokes, she could too. "It makes sense, of course. We can stalk your parents through the maze and use the seven-year-old to try and not to look too creepy."

Giulia (Rapunzel)
"Bonsai!" she thought she knew what those were! "Those sit on desks, don't they? Do they get big too?" But- "Oh, you said little boxes." she pursed her lips, trying to consider. "If Bonsai are little, shouldn't they live inside where it is safe? Instead of being outside in the garden? Because winter is coming, so won't they get sick and hurt?"
"Well, I don't think it means lettuce, but you can eat Rapunzel! It sounds kind of weird. But her daddy stole the lettuce, because her mommy was pregnant and wanted a salad. The witch was mad, and took her and locked her up!" her voice rose, her hands gesturing wildly. "Her daddy wasn't a good king, he was- he was a sneaky witch-thief!"
But her irritation with Disney's historical inaccuracies probably wouldn't engage Farmer Nat for very long.
"I came with Mother Gothel," she admitted with a grin, tongue peeking out from her teeth. "She went to go say hi to some friends though. Did you come with a friend? If not, I can probably find Jada and introduce you and you can hang out with us! You can tell me about the plants."

Roddy – dressed as a lionman
Roddy seemed rather chipper himself as he followed behind Delilah and Julian this evening, staying close to them both. After the rather disturbing night he and Julian had experienced not too long ago, his protective side was in full gear, though it was hard to tell given his outfit. He was the fuzziest purple lion anyone had ever seen, complete with hair wild and combed to blend with his beard to make a mane.
“You’re right. Too much candy will make you sick to your stomach. Make sure to eat other things too. Staccato would be so upset if his friend came home too sick to go on a walk.” Sadly, his beloved pup was made to stay home today, which was fine. Julian had both him and Delilah with him for protection and guidance, so that would be just fine.
“And thank you for coming too, Delilah, for letting me come along.”
--------- Anxo - Dressed as a Scarecrow
Anxo was a true lover of holidays, even if they were crazy and insane here in Destiny City. There was always some sort of craziness happening, but not all of it was bad. Especially not when this year he had something a little bit more special to look towards, that being spending time with Arian and Saffy.
Over the past few months, he seemed to have gotten closer to the two, Saffy as a friend and Arian as the boy he absolutely adored above all else. Just the thought of his darked haired sweetheart had him wanting to sing words of praise and adoration to him and seep him off his feet as often as he could. This time, however, he refrained, given the fact that Arian was eating, and it wasn’t very easy going about in a silly Scarecrow outfit, not when straw seemed to want to leak out everywhere.
“She’s right you know. I’m sure we could have fixed you up real man. Maybe be the crow to my scare crow.” He chimed in with his ever-cheery tone, leaning over to give him a quick peck on the cheek and stealing a bit of his sandwich. “I am really happy you came though. It’s going to be a lot of fun, promise. And if anything goes down... Don’t worry, I’m here to protect you both!”
-------------- Nischal seemed almost a little shy in his costume; it squeezed him tightly in places he just wasn’t used to. He certainly wasn’t the skinny young man he was years ago, and it was evident in the way that the costume hugged his arms and legs, showing every muscle and curve he had. He hardly did the costume justice as he couldn’t compare to the latest Aquaman…. But that look that he caught Jason giving him every now and then seemed worth it, and he grinned back at the other.
“I think you have, and I think I’ll say it again, thank you. You’re looking quite fantastic yourself!” It wasn’t the first time Jason had donned the green lantern gear in front of him. Well, not the costume specifically, but the symbol was seen atleast a dozen times since they had known one another. When Jason suggested they go in matching costumes, he was quick to accept, loving any reason he had to spend more time with the other, especially given the chaos they had already gone through with mirrors not too long ago. A nice, slow event that was just pure fun was more than enough for him.
“Do you see her yet…? I’m so nervous… Do you think she’ll like me?” Nischal could only imagine so much while he waited anxiously to meet the ever famous Kailey, Jason’s best friend… What a time to meet her too, looking like… Like this. “This is going to be so awkward… I hope she doesn’t stare as much as you do… You might wanna pick your jaw off the floor.” Even with the whole situation being less than ideal, Nischal was full of jest, and gently nudged the other with his elbow. They could continue with their flirting and chuckles later, for now, they should really try to find Kailey.

Rhona Lee -- Dressed as Winnie SandersonRhona's eyes met the man that Xi-Wang was standing with and she smiled warmly around the cookie she was taking a bite from. s**t... she was trying to be more considerate... this was the opposite of considerate... she should have looked harder. Should have been better. Should have. Would have. Could have. Ignore it. Fix it. Move along. Rhona shifted her plate of goodies over to one hand to free one up and extended it to the gentleman at Xi-Wang's side. "Rhona Lee," she offered, noticing but not mentioning the way that the man pulled Xi-Wang towards him. It made her wonder what happened to make him feel the need to protect him from her. It was her costume, wasn't it? Too scary? Probably. She wiped a bit of frosting from her plastic bucked teeth before filling in the rest of her backstory. "Xi-Wang and I work together. Forgive me for not introducing myself first. Ask Xi-Wang, I am famously unobservant. And equally famous for being accidentally inconsiderate. I beg pardon." She bowed deeply at the waist, the weight from her hair done up in curls and knots heavy suddenly. When she came back up her eyes gravitated towards a shadow on the outskirts of the party. For a moment, she thought that it was only that, but upon closer inspection... Rhona murmured a quiet curse and slid a step or two backward. "Sorry to have... disturbed your evening..." She tore her eyes from Lavender across the room and forced another smile "Again, my apologies. Feel free to slug me if we ever meet again and I fail to mind my manners..." Orangeish Sherbert Rhona is trying to make herself smaller so that Lavender doesn't see her and also escape from this accidentally awkward situation oops

Lauri Virtainen (Simply dressed nicely, with hair down; looks normal - but is carrying a red leash.) Archer's attention on the leash he carried did not go unnoticed - it was the point. He had been neglectful, this was his punishment. Prior to the event, there had been a selection process that Archer had absolutely no say in and Lauri had very nearly ended up carrying a sparkly pink leash with rhinestones rather than the comparatively austere red one that had finally been chosen. "Historically, aren't these things just bait for some tragedy or other? Large groups of people together in Destiny City always seem to call trouble." The Finn's fingers tightened imperceptibly on the leash as he watched Archer's agitation - even without ears and tail, he was easy to read. " Seuraa-" Command to heel hissed low but firm, a command that Archer would know well to obey. It was more of a command to calm his agitation than to return to Lauri's side, "I trust nothing about this set up, nor should you." Too many people, too many chances for damage - some crazy goddamn American terrorist with a semi-automatic or a home-brew incendiary. Some new magical monster lurking in the heavy fog or the rain. It didn't matter, Lauri disliked it. It was, after all his nature to dislike such things.

Virell deVilliers“Lavender!”
Virell had not intended to attend a plant party, but at the risk of dealing with the rain, he had decided this was as safe a place to hide out the sudden storm as any. He hadn’t spent an hour and a half on his hair and makeup to let water ruin it.
He had been attending another party not too far away with a group of ‘friends’—or, at least, other models he worked with who he simply could not allow to show him up. He didn’t want to go to this stupid party, but turning down an invite from any prestigious name could hurt your career. So, he’d agreed, and he’d outshined all of his competition.
They had all scattered in different directions when the rain hit, and Virell wasn’t even upset to be alone. As far as he was concerned, he was already ahead tonight.
He intended to simply look like he was interested in some flowers and then leave as soon as the rain stopped, but he hadn’t expected to see a familiar face in the bunch.
There were plenty of costumes; he himself had arrived in an outfit very reminiscent of a stereotypical Arabian genie—no doubt blatantly ‘I Dream of Jeannie’ inspired. Only, instead of her dainty curves, he had a fine set of toned muscles to show off. If ever he had the opportunity to dress in this style, he’d take it. And red? It was his favorite color. He had gone above and beyond with his costume; it was as much a work of art as he was—if he did say so, himself. (He did.)
“Lavender, is that you?”
He knew it was her, of course, and moved to her side. “You look fantastic. It’s been so long, I was starting to forget that pretty face of yours. Where are your videos? You know I check every other day to see if you’ve posted any new ones. I was starting to get worried when I noticed it was taking you a little longer to get them up—is everything okay?”

Tobias LiebelIt had taken nearly an hour of convincing to get Evan to agree to come out to this event at the Botanical gardens, and at least another hour to convince him to wear the outfit, of course that was before Tobias told him that he would be wearing one as well, and he supposed that had been the tipping point. So, here he was at a very large, very populated event wearing a giant oversized pair of monster pajamas, holding Evan’s hand loosely in his own. “You know, you should get some more of these, Evan. You look utterly adorable…and they’re honestly pretty comfortable…I’m just glad we didn’t end up getting caught in that rain, that would have made these costumes…”
He glanced around then raised Evan’s hand to his lips. “Quite uncomfortable…though I suppose we could have just gone home at that point and cuddled or something equally ridiculous, but…I’m glad you came out here with me. I think we’ll have fun. I hope, anyway. And it’s all for a good cause.”
Tobisa had already bought a few hundred entries into some of the raffles. There was something satisfying about winning things that made him have to go all in. Sure he didn’t need the giftcard to take Evan out to dinner…and he was quite sure if he did take him to dinner, Evan wouldn’t like it anyway…but it was the fact that he won.
Well. When he won. At least.

Malcolm Everly
Technically, Malcolm could have dressed up, and now that he’d arrived he sort of regretted that he hadn’t. He tried to remind himself that he was here for business—at least, sort of.
He’d hit writers block a few days ago and was getting desperate to get his creative juices flowing somehow. Usually, when he hit a block he could meander around town and try to take some inspiring photographs, and ultimately that was all he was doing here. He had been neglecting his news based blogged and decided a nice, relaxing evening covering the festivities of the Bootanical Garden might at least give him something to focus on so he felt like he was doing things. He had arrived with a notepad and his camera and had taken a few interviews from employees, spokespeople and activists as well as a few good shots of the décor, the plants, the presentations—and, of course, the costumes. With permission, of course, because this was also Malcolm’s excuse to be social.
He was staying out of the way for the most part but he was far from a wall flower; he was feeling a bit reserved, but he’d run into a few friends he’d volunteered with in the past and was feeling right at home. Except for the fact that, without a costume, he felt like he stuck out like a sore thumb.

Nathaniel Parrish ( dressed as a farmer )
"They do," said Nathaniel, with a wide smile. "They're like l'il trees y'can take care of, and they're real low maintenance. I have a few at my apartment - and yeah, they sit in l'il boxes," he added, just to reassure Giulia. "They have 'em here at the gardens but they're inside, jus' like you said. There's a sun roof to give 'em a l'il bit of light, and they make sure to keep 'em safe."
She was a bright kid for her age; Nathaniel wondered just how old she was, possibly no more than seven or eight, likely, but perhaps older. Sweet and innocent, the way children should have been, and the way his own childhood had definitely not been.
"That's very rude of her daddy, then," said Nathaniel, with a bob of his head. "And who's Mother Gothel? Is she your - " He'd been about to say mother, but the first name stalled him. Hastily, he continued, " - friend? I didn't come here with anyone, but y'can introduce me if y'like."Archer Wren ( dressed ironically as a black dog )
The selection process for the leash had been a combination of humiliation, anger, and the inevitable ending to which it always led. It could have been worse; Archer still wished he could throttle Lauri with the damn thing, but at least it wasn't ******** pink.
He wasn't Dia.
"Bait for what, exactly?" said Archer in annoyance, although he had to agree with the sentiment. Having this many people together was always a call for some sort of incident; Archer just hoped it was going to be one that benefited him in the end, otherwise the pointless evening would just be even more pointless.
Seuraa had him halting instinctively, a burn of red flashing across Archer's face; he gritted his teeth together against the snapping remark that longed to retort and bit back, swallowed down. He couldn't afford to mess up the facade he'd already put on this evening just to be here, the guise he generally used when he visited Lorne.
"You shouldn't trust anything, at any time," Archer growled instead. "Trusting is weakness."

Evan Harper
Evan sighed loudly; he felt incredibly silly wearing the costume Tobias had picked out but he had always been one to succumb to peer pressure, especially from his friends. Even in the size Tobias had picked out it seemed oversized on him; he debated pulling the hood down further to hide more of his face.
…Tobias was right, though. The costumes—pajamas—were rather comfortable. Not that he was willing to admit that right now.
“It’s just plants,” Evan griped. “I didn’t even know you cared so much about grass. Or,” he glanced at one of the pictures of some plant on the wall. “Fancy grass, or whatever. I don’t care about plants unless they’re vegetables. Or fruits. Or herbs, or spices. But not, I don’t know,” he gestured to some strange flower on the wall. “Whatever that is.”
Evan was entirely out of his element, and surrounded by strangers, and wearing a stranger costume than even then one he usually went out in late at night. He kept fussing with his outfit with his free hand, and shuffling around and pouting. He had gripped Tobias’ hand tighter when they entered the room and, while he kept his head down, his eyes skimmed the room as if trying to isolate any sort of trouble before it could reach them.

As the evening went on, the room began to grow colder; it was easy to assume it was just the weather, but there was something strangely off about everything. Maybe it was how the employees kept glancing to the windows, or some of the security guards had begun to quietly whisper amongst themselves. Maybe it was the thickening wall of white that began to cling to each window. Maybe it was the distant, discreet scuttling you might have heard over the murmur of voices. If anyone had any questions about if something was going on, their question was quickly answered when the light flickered and, suddenly, the room went black. A few glowing decorations just barely illuminated the room in any capacity, and one glowing red beacon could be seen—an ‘Exit’ sign. There might not have been any cause for alarm with a simple blackout—but this wasn’t a simple blackout. The sound of metal straining echoed throughout the room and then, suddenly, the sound of shattering glass. Screams erupted in the room but there was no telling who—or what—has just arrived at the party. Either way, given how things go in Destiny City, you might not want to stick around. At the very least, you need to get to somewhere where you can see—and the ‘Exit’ sign is just calling to you. Quote: Get ready to roll some dice! At the top of your next post, please bold your character's name! Get a move on!You don’t know what’s going on, but you don’t want to be trapped in the dark; you have to head towards the only way out—the single glowing exit sign! Roll a ten sided dice to determine how your escape goes! If you roll a 1-3 you wind up having a bit of trouble; someone keeps stepping on your foot and you’ve suddenly become acquainted with a lot of elbows. If you are unlucky you might trip—or worse, find that you have bumped into something large and hairy that quickly scuttles away. If you roll a 4-7 you manage to make your way towards the exit with minimal difficulties, but you find yourself bumping into people and things along the way. If you roll an 8-10 you arrive in one piece without any difficulties. In fact, your vision seems so good that you can almost make out a few large, oddly shaped figures rapidly darting across the room behind the crowd. Remember, there is no powering up during this event—it's simply too dangerous and you risk being seen! Even though it is dark now, you don’t know if the lights are going to flicker on and risk you outing yourself. You will have a little more than 24 hours to respond to this prompt before the next one, so act fast! This RP is still open to new posters (and will stay open for people to join!) but if you miss a prompt, your character will automatically be sorted into the lowest rolling tier and you will be expected to respond as if you rolled between a 1-3! There is no need to tally points; this is not a race! You simply need to respond to the prompts as they are posted. You can stick with a group; the dice rolls will only affect the severity at which your character is affected by prompts and will not ever force you to separate from your party.

Myles Fischer
Myles barely needed an excuse to get out of his house and put on a costume, but Halloween was always the best time to do so and be considered normal. While Myles certainly had no issue going anywhere alone with the intent to make new friends, he had at least tried to invite his brother.
Jeremy was lying on the couch and groaned miserably at the invitation—which was a pity, because with a groan like that, he’d have made a great zombie.
Myles dismissed himself, alone, and dressed in the perfect Halloween costume.
Last year, he’d been attacked by giant bats. This year, he wasn’t going to give them the opportunity to sneak up on him again. This year, he was prepared.
In his giant, arguably too cute to be scary, bat costume. It was comfortable, and fluffy, and soft, and he loved the long sleeved ‘wings’. He was certain that if there was any more bat mishaps, they would have no choice but to accept him as one of their own and leave him alone.
Arriving at the Botanical Garden had been fun; Myles had been deeply invested in learning about the conservation efforts they were making, mostly because it was easy for him to become passionate about something while listening to someone else express their passions for it.
He would have been happy to keep spending his evening like that—and snacking on candy, of course, but then things happened. Of course.
Myles was not a fan of the dark—or of people breaking in, so when the crowd started to move towards the exit door, who was he to fight against them? He wanted out of this place, away from the falling glass and darkness just as much as the next guy.
…Probably more, actually, but he shuffled along politely, trying to make sure he stayed safe and didn’t accidentally hurt anyone.

Lauri Virtainen (Simply dressed nicely, with hair down; looks normal - but is carrying a red leash.) "That it is." And yet, dear Wolfe, you trust that I will not break our agreement, do you not? Which is why I can command you now, and you hate it and love it. Anything further he might have said was moot for the lights flickered and then died out. Lauri thought about ordering Archer to guard, but it was unnecessary - the Wolfe was attentive and aware even without being told. It was dark, there was the groaning-shrieking sound of metal being strained and broken, then shattering glass. Then screaming. "It never ******** fails.... In the dim, the crimson glow of an EXIT sign stood out starkly, he went to make his way towards it but someone - Archer? no, too...furry? The ********> bumped him-stepped on him-got in his way. It was ridiculous how many sudden elbows met Lauri's body, how many costumed heels hit his dress shoes, how many unexplained skittering things brushed against him as he was herded - for that was what was happening, clearly - towards the exit.
