Stretching slightly, Shiori shook her head as she looked over the drinks on offer. Most of them just seemed a little too weird. She'd heard stories about what showed up at parties, and she had no particular desire to accidentally consume something that was going to hit her like a freight train. Best to stick with water for now.

After getting another small drink of water, Shiori casually shuffled over to hear the music better and see if she could suggest something a bit more... peppy. For various reasons, she was hesitant to head out onto the dance floor, but she could at least nod and stomp along a little if a good tune was playing.

Unfortunately, it seemed like the crowd was going to have only the most limited control over the music. That was fair enough, though - too many people shouting suggestions and you wouldn't make anyone happy. Instead of continuing to push her will, Shiori relaxed against the wall for a little while, pondering her options.

Maybe it was time to at least say hello to people. It was hard to deny that she had social issues - all those perverts on the train made her instinctively hesitant to approach others - but it wasn't like everyone out there was such a problem. The only issue was... who should she actually go talk to, and how did she do it in a way that didn't suggest something weird?

Okay, first step, avoiding the weirdness. Some people might say she was being oversensitive about this sort of thing, but given the way so many of her interactions with strangers had gone, it was better to be safe and careful about things. Otherwise, who knew what sort of ridiculousness would happen?

With that in mind, it might be easier to talk to a girl. She hadn't always had the best luck with that - many took one look, judged her, and moved on - but it was definitely more likely to succeed than talking to one of the boys. At least, that was true if history was anything even vaguely close to accurate here.

All right, so she was starting to narrow it down. Female and around her age would probably be the easiest to talk to... maybe look for someone who wasn't in a group already? People hanging out with friends could draw an instant boundary against anyone else who came up to talk to them, and for someone so socially awkward, that could be hard to overcome.

Continuing to narrow it down... someone who was dressed well, but not overdoing it, would probably be good. Fashion could be kind of strange in Japan, especially around the Harajuku area, but one thing that tended to be the same was that the more extreme a girl's clothes were, the more... distinct... her personality might be. Those decked out in tons of jewelry tended to be snobby, and she wanted to avoid someone like that.

Gulp.
Afterschool activities she could handle, but... talking to people really was kind of hard for her. No matter how much she rationalized it, stepping that far out of her comfort zone was something else entirely.

She went to squeeze the tiny being close to her chest, mostly to keep the fluffy, perverse shrine maiden off of her.....

Arimina Wolfgang Arimina slowly sauntered out of the smoke beside Shiori, and, managing to pick up on the girl's awkwardness, decided a different approach than usual was in order (maybe the usual needs to be changed, considering how often she strikes out...), as she moved within speaking distance of the pink-haired girl. "Hi there, sweetie. You look a little lost. Are you feeling alright?"Her concern was genuine, as the look on Shiori's face had her worried. She may be almost as amourously lecherous as a rabbit in heat, but Arimina had moments where she cared for those around her.
