You've made it across the lake! The path is once again visible--only, this time it is guiding you towards the towering Candy Castle! Anyone familiar with the park might know that this is a giant playground, designed by a local artist who had both children and adults in mind. While not in the Holiday season, the wooden structure is open to the general public, but for this event only, the playground has been decorated to resemble a glorious Candy Castle. But that's not all--sometime in the night, thanks to an overzealous sprinkler system and some careful machinery, the area around the castle has been frozen into a thin layer of slippery ice. The ice has been colored; if it weren't cold to the touch, it would resemble sugar glass. The finish line is just beyond the castle--you just have to make it across the slippery floor! Quote: Roll two four-sided dice! The first roll is for speed and the second roll corresponds with one of the following prompts; prompts can positively or negatively impact your roll: 1 - Your shoes aren't made for this, so you find yourself sliding some on the flooring. Keeping your balance is difficult but not impossible. (- 1 speed bonus) 2 - You find the floor's slick but you're a pro at this sliding thing. You look like you're right out of the Tom Curse movie Risky Business. (+ 1 speed bonus) 3 - You moon walk all the way to end! (+ 1 speed bonus) 4 - You're worried running on the floor might crack the surface and make it harder to move. Instead you decided to move with care! (- 1 speed bonus) When you are finished filling out your post, tally your score (make sure to add or subtract the results of the second dice according the the prompt it correlates to). Please record the results at the bottom of your post in Bold Purple along with your Peppermint Forest, Gumdrop Way, Mudslide Slopes, and Gingerbread Lake score. Keep up with your scores as they'll determine where you finish the race!

The castle at the end of the way marked the last challenge. Finally, a way to make up for lost time. Aura made her way across the ice in one last burst of speed. Having the finish line in clear sight seemed to help with her poise. She flew past the final section with flying colors. But would that be enough? αPrompt #1: 1 Prompt #2: 0 Prompt #3: 2 Prompt #4: 2 Prompt #5: 5

Alerana Ikaros - rolling
Once Rana got off the boat, the end was finally in sight! The big candy-colored castle looked to be the destination of the path, so she hustled toward it, wondering what obstacle might be inside. She hadn't noticed the icy ground until her foot nearly slipped on it. After a bit of wobbling she managed to regain her balance, then looked down at the sugary-looking path. Hmm, how to cross this, then?
She started by stepping carefully, but found that would take far too long. So she instead tried sliding across it, kicking off with alternating feet like she was ice skating. That worked much better! She grinned and shoe-skated across the ground, getting confident enough to weave back and forth, briefly imaging herself to be a figure skater. She was almost tempted to try spinning, even. Almost. She didn't really want to risk breaking her neck. So she slid her way along towards the castle.

She had been doing so well so far- pacing herself had put some in front of her, and then she'd fallen behind on the candy canes and the mudslide slopes, but some with luck and focus on the bumper boats, she'd managed to pull ahead some. The end was in sight, which was definitely a good thing.
How she could run almost every morning, and still be getting tired... it was clear, by those people who were still ahead of her, that at this stage winning was impossible. So, to alleviate some of her exhaustion (and earn a few laughs), she had a little fun as she crossed the Candy Castle's frozen lake and the finish line, instead of just running across them, like a normal person.

Caelum Dawson || Competing
Caelum didn't have the strength for this anymore. When he noticed the structure in the park—something he too had the honor of climbing once or twice as a senshi—decked out as some kind of candy castle, he groaned. He thought he was so close to the finish line, but there was still one more thing to go through.
Oh well, he'd give it a shot.
He grimaced when he noticed other racers slipping and sliding on the ice before the castle. Carefully, he stepped onto it, and pushed himself away from the bank only to slid a few inches forward.
Yea, I don't think... this is gonna work, he internally sighed. Caelum kept up the repetitive stop, go, stop, go however, eager for the finish line ahead.

Kailey O'Carroll - Competing
While the playground itself looked awesome and really brought a grin to Kailey's face, the fact there was ice all around? Not so much. There was, indeed, a bit more cussing and she was forced to realize that her shoes? Were not the best for this part of the course. Great.
She managed to stay upright at least, but just barely. It was with a large sigh of relief that she finally made it across the area, and it looked like to the end of the race at long last!

Jericho Cross - Competing
Whatever speed and distance he'd gained through the race was blown apart by the ice. His shoes were not the suitable kind for this area, and Jericho had a hell of a time trying to keep his balance, much to his frustration. It was a hell and a half to make it through the playground, but at length he made it--at least the race was almost, finally, over.

Cassie Finlay - Competing
Why ice? Cassie groaned, going slow and painfully steady over the ice as she crept along. She was way too nervous about it breaking under her, and it turned the playground into a nightmare for a final section of the race. She got through it! Eventually. But she felt worn and beat by the time she managed to start the jog to the final section of the race.

Gigi Gennaro (competing)
Eventually, Gigi reached the far side of the lake, beaching her gingerbread boat and jumping clear of the murky white water. It couldn’t be that much further, she reasoned, as she started running along the path again. After all, they’d let kids participate.
Concentrating on keeping her breathing steady as she ran, Gigi barely registered the looming Candy Castle until she was practically beneath it – and then she came to an abrupt stop as the shine on the surrounding landscape caught her eye. She crouched down to tap the suspect surface, surprised to find not sticky candy, but chilly ice. It was colourful, but other than that, there didn’t seem to be any further complications.
Mindful of her centre of gravity, she stepped out onto the candy ice, sliding a little way with both arms out wide. The shoes that had been so inappropriate for running suddenly worked in her favour. It was less like ice-skating, more like sock-racing on a polished floor. It… was actually kind of fun, she had to admit.
Spirits raised, Gigi glided peacefully towards the castle.

Kirra Morrow (competing)
Kirra had been having such a good time playing with the boats that the racers were leaving her behind. Reluctantly, she hopped out on the far shore, following the track again to catch up. Now her legs had had a chance to rest, she couldn’t wait to see what was next.
The organisers didn’t disappoint. A genuine-article magical lolly castle was sitting right in the middle of the park. It was incredible! She wanted to climb all over it, and lick it to see if any of the candy was real. Forget pirates, next she would be the princess of candyland and eat herself sick!
When her legs both decided to slide in opposite directions, Kirra was taken completely by surprise, landing on her rump on the unexpectedly icy ground. It was so colourful! And so wet! And so… cracking…
Kirra scrambled backwards off the ice at the audible snap as a fine faint line appeared on the ground where she’d fallen. Uh-oh. Thin ice. But grown-ups much bigger than her were going across just fine!
With a pout, she stood up again, and took a step back onto the candy ice, placing her weight super-carefully. She went slow, one foot at a time, trying not to slide about too much. Her tongue poked out between her teeth as she concentrated on walking light.

Tom Wolf - CompetingAt least I'm finally on the other side Tom thought to himself as he looked over at the playground , his aching joints finally catching up with him. This wouldn't be fun, that much he could tell. It meant a lot more sliding, which Tom seemed to be good at considering he managed to make it out of the castle okay. As soon as he had gone over the finish line though, he practically fell to the sideline, trying to catch his breath and stretch out his muscles, hoping he wouldn't be regretting this for the next few days. Of course he didn't usually do obstacle-course races either, so this was pretty new to him. But as he came upon the castle, he struggled to navigate it, wishing once again he had worn shoes that were better for all of this ice climbing. But finally, FINALLY he made it across the finish line. He quickly spotted his brother, who had made sure to not be in anyone's way, and gave him a quick nod before also stretching out his muscles like him. They would probably be hitting a coffee place or a bakery after this. They deserved it!Quote: Result 1, Speed 1 - 1 = 0Result 3, Speed 3 - 1 = 2Result 3, Speed 2 + 1 = 3Result 1, Speed 2 - 2 = 0Result 1, Speed 4 - 1 = 3Total = 8

Pat O'Ryan - Skating through this challenge, Literally rolleyes Sadly Pat eventually had to continue with the race and once he docked his boat he was on his way, chilly and a bit wet from all the 'bumping' he did. It didn't take a genius to tell they were coming up on the end of the race as a giant castle came into view along with its icy path. The redhead could see others either doing well on the ice or struggle to remain up right and knew how he wanted to do it. It would either end up spectacularly fun or seriously painful but he was willing to risk it. Picking up speed Pat raced towards the ice only to hop slightly and go sliding across the colored ice ala Tom Cruise while humming 'Old Time Rock and Roll'. Sadly his glide had to come to an end but he didn't mind too much after all it was damn good fun. Besides Pat was pretty sure he could always go back and do it again after the race was done. Albert Wiley - competingAfter the debacle that was the boats, Albert was ready for just about anything. The candy castle, then, was a wondrous surprise that made him laugh in delight. Alright, yes, the floor looked slippery, but the inner child within him (the same child that had often made plans about how to conquer the world) loved the idea of sliding through a castle. Perhaps that was why he had no difficulty skating along, even though he wasn't really rushing things anyway. He definitely wasn't going to win the race after the boat trouble, so what harm was there in enjoying this last leg? None, that was what! None at all! Wheee! Quote: Total: 4Total: 5Total: 4Total: 0Total: 2 Joseph Ross - competingStill snickering to himself at how much fun the boats had been, Joseph was running a bit too fast when he entered the castle, and nearly fell on his face. Damn but that floor was slick, and his shoes weren't that great on traction. Slipping and sliding a little, he struggled to regain his balance before trying an awkward sort of skating-slide and continuing on. He was almost there, and once this race was wrapped up, he could go home and work on his latest project bike until the shenanigans of this event were long forgotten. Quote: Total: 3Total: 0Total: 7Total: 2Total: 2 Cara Stauss - competingAlright, now this obstacle looked like fun again. Cara was no ice skater, not really, but she'd done the socks-on-slick-flooring trick enough to have some idea how to hold her balance through this area. And while it might have been fun to slide around and laugh at the people who were having more trouble than her (and one or two who seemed to have fallen), she was far more focused on getting to the other side. Some of the other runners may have forgotten, but they were running a race, and she was going to get the best placing she could. Maybe even win, if she was lucky enough. ...but regardless, she was going to come back here and slide around again. This was just as much fun as the gumdrops had been - maybe more!
