Egan laughed at Elena's mention of the absorb war. "Yeah, I was honestly afraid we'd be there for ever," he said, patting Popo ontop of his gelatinous head. "Luckily this guy was a little stronger." He hadn't be sure how battling with a Ditto would work out, but Popo had proved himself time and time again that day; he was proud of the little guy. A gust of wind began to blow through the meadow once again, carrying with them the plentiful yellow petals of the flowers that made up the majority of the scenery. Despite how hot the journey to the meadow had been, the breeze there was pleasant; up near the summit it felt less and less like a blowdryer being aimed directly at his face. "It's definitely a welcome change," he agreed as he glanced around the field.

"That's strange," he remarked, pointing at a cluster of flower petals that seemed to be gliding through the air. "I've never seen them cling together like that before. It's almost like a whole flower got caught up in the wind." As the yellow mass got closer, Egan noticed something was amiss; among the golden "petals" were two splotches of deep purple. Before he could react, the mass was carried directly into his face by the breeze, squeeling with joy as it clung to him. Egan attempted to draw in a sharp breath, only for it to be muffled by the cotton-like fure that he'd earlier mistaken as petals. Unleashing a torrent of muffled curses that would make most men blush, Egan managed to pry the offending mass off his face, holding it at arms length in both hands. Now that he was able to see what had clung to him, Egan's anger was quellled and replaced with wonder and an almost primal need to squeeze the pokemon he was holding before its cuteness bewitched him. Two brilliant green eyes peered back at him through golden fleece-like fur. The pokemon squealed happily, its eyes curving into what he assumed was a smile.

Egan held tightly to the pokemon with his right hand, while his left retrieved the pokedex from his pants pocket. He flipped it open and checked to see what the encyclopedia had to say. "Cottonee, the cotton puff pokemon. Cottonee is blown around by the wind because of its lightweight composition. The only circumstance in which it cannot be blown by wind is when it has been soaked by rain, which weighs it down and makes it soggy. Afterwards, this Pokémon will stay under a tree until it dries, so that it may be blown by the wind again. During the mating season, Cottonee blow in the wind in large groups. Its cotton can be used as a defensive mechanism that aids its self-defense." Egan glanced back and forth between the picture and the cheerful pokemon he held in his hand. Sure, they had a similar appearance, but the one in the pokedex was green and white, not golden and deep purple like the one that had clung to him. He throught about it for a moment, and decided that the pokemon need to be his. It might be rare. And it was cute. Egan signaled to Popo and the battle began.



Egan walked over to pick up the Pokeball that contained his shiny, new friend. He knelt down, gingerly picked up the Pokeball, shrunk it, and placed it on his belt. As he was about to stand up, he noticed a small green object resembling an acorn where the pokeball had dropped. Egan shrugged, grabbed the green apricorn, and stashed it into his pocket. He stood up and walked back to where Elena had been standing before spraying Popo with a potion. "Well, I'm getting a bit peckish and the sun looks like it's going to start setting soon. Do you want to head back to town and find a palce to stay?" He asked, jerking his thumb in the direction of the cave.
