Lil-Jo Well... I think it is time for a positive feedback.. My son and the girl I set him up with here on Gaia are still doing great. He is currently in NY visiting her and her family for 9 days. It looks like either sometime this winter or in the spring he is planning on moving out there to be with her. YEA!!! Possibly another internet marriage in the family in the near future. 4laugh 3nodding

it shows us all the possible error of our ways, while i do have my possible beau on the other side of the Atlantic, i certainly wouldn't want to do the online dating thing, if either of us finds someone who sweeps us off of our feet, the other is just going to end up having to deal with it rolleyes i know i shall be hurt if he does find someone he really wants to settle down with, but i'm so ultra sensible about these things that i wont throw a wobbly about it emo

You know, the great thing about having residents from the Greater British Isles in this guild is learning keen new phrases. So far, I've been working on adding Alleira's "Wind-Up Merchant" to my vocabulary. I think "Throw a Wobbly" is going to find its way in there, too.
I hope we Yanks have been salting your speech a bit, as well.

heh cool
The problem with that is that your phrases do, in general, sound very American, where as ours just tend to make no sense lol If you have any personal favourites of your own Harbone i'd love to hear them, i have an infant thread in my guild for just such utterances, but i haven't mustered the willpower to work on it yet rolleyes

Knickers in a knot is one we use too, though we tend to say twist instead of knot, i LOVE stuff like this, would it be worth starting up an eccentric phrases thread here? I really would enjoy seeing what delightful family and regional terms everyone has stashed away, plus myself and Alleira could share some more choice British ones with you 3nodding It would help me in my quest to compile a goodly list in my guild too sweatdrop
Maybe we should give ourselves personal challenges to find situations to use these 'foreign' phrases each day, i have a friend in Indiana who regularly uses Englishisms that he picks up from me on his work colleagues, he loves seeing their baffled expressions xd

Great! Do it. I've got some mid-western ones I've been dying to sling around. Maybe we can get some of the folks in from the Scandinavian countries to drop some of theirs, too.

Sounds like a great idea ~ we'll leave the thread setting up to Jellie... and then see if Pixie can share some great Ausie ones with us as well.
