He was getting the hang of her attacks and really starting to anticipate when she would use her demonic abilities to get the advantage on her...and if he could do more than use his instincts to stay alive when she used those, he could begin to attack in those moments rather than defend and really turn their sparring session in his favor. Her weapon bounced off of a solid block and he struck through the area where her midsection had been a moment sooner...whirling around to swipe her descending weapon aside with an aggressive strike that pushed CuChulainn's mentor off-balance and nearly saw him land an overhand strike that would have been a duel-ender...
...But she moved out of the way just in time, forcing him to twist and raise his blade overhead to block hers short of his face, stoic expression and perfect control in-battle allowing him to counter what should have been a fight-ender on her part. They were a good match...or maybe she was just enjoying teaching him, maybe he was a beast who wouldn't lift the door on the cage to what he could really do. Only time would tell, but this? I'm glad to see my decision to invite you to return to us was the correct one," Yamato greeted the swordsman as he trained from the door, hands in his pocket, smiling curiously as he looked down the hall over his shoulder where he needed to send reports to the remaining Headquarters around the country, "If there is anything else you need, let me know. Otherwise, keep up the good work. I will be sure to call upon you when I need you." Offering one last nod to the former Human Weapon, Yamato Hotsuin continued down the hall, earning little more than a nod from the swordsman who was focused on his training right now and regaining his control over his own instincts and body.
He appreciated what Yamato had done for him, and he would return the favor when the time came that he was needed. For now, he needed to get to his best condition...otherwise, when things hit the fan again, he would be more of a liability than an asset. And Kei couldn't let that happen...not this time. Parry, attack, attack! Half-step, quarter-turn, attack! Quarter-turn, parry, counter attack! His focus was razor sharp at the moment and his control was finally starting to feel restored to a level resembling where he had been before all of the chaos had broken out with the initial Earthquakes of this Calamity. Training together with the demon Scathach had done wonders for him in a way that only training with Kaori had ever surpassed, though to be fair, she had always had an effect on him that nobody and nothing else could have managed. That the master of the great spear-wielder had proven capable not just of pushing him physically but helping him to mend himself mentally was a boon that he was grateful for. And that Yamato had seen fit not to call upon him yet to do anything too major yet gave him time to repair his fractured sense of self through these intense bouts of training.
"Let's take a break," the former human weapon commanded his devil who simply disappeared back into his App to restore magic power and recover vitality...meanwhile the swordsman took a drink of the bottled water that he had been permitted to take from the JPs pantry. It was a luxury that he hadn't had almost at all during his time away...he was thankful that he could again function at near his full capacity on every level. Although he knew that came with expectations...expectations he had to meet. He did not intend to let anybody down. We're starting again," he commanded his devil, not at all worried about wearing out or getting exhausted from a simple training regimen like this...he might sweat a little but as long as he stayed hydrated he could do these for days without ever truly becoming tired. That was one of the perks of their training back at the HWU...and now it was helping him to extend his focus, to give him time to zero back in on the mindset and the stability that he needed in order to truly function at his best. Even though the memories of the place and the intentions they'd had for him were not pleasant to recall, he had gained much from his time in that unit as well.
He had gained discipline, endurance beyond his ability, the best version of himself in terms of skills and focus and training, and more than any of those things, he was grateful for one thing in particular from his time at the Human Weapons Unit. It wasn't a mystery, as it was the lynchpin that kept him together...the rock that he could rely on through thick or thin...the one person in this world that he trusted, and cared for, implicitly...Kaori. And by training the way that he was now, refocusing, he could fight with her again and cease to be a liability. That was invaluable right now, to both of them. Because my time is short, I'll kill you..."His first mission out hadn't been a successful one; it was nobody's fault and he knew that Yamato wouldn't hold it against him, still it stung to realize that there were things out there that even his instincts for combat couldn't entirely prepare him for. One Spore falling from the sky wasn't all that difficult to avoid, but a second Spore and a third Spore all exploding in a certain vicinity had the ability to rap someone within a radius that not even seeing them coming would allow them to entirely escape. A triangular trap...a void of death...he knew on instinct that he had been in a fatal situation, but even so he wasn't ready to give up the life and control that he had only just managed to regain.
...And that was where his latest demon had come in, the great swordsman and samurai Yoshitsune. Because he had summoned his demons to travel with him out into the investigation of the nearby neighborhood where several JPs agents had stopped reporting in, his samurai ally had been able to pull him away from a situation that might have ended him otherwise. And they landed together in a combat-ready stance, out of the danger zone, his even expression belied the relief he felt at having an ally so reliable to watch his back. It wasn't Kaori...but it was something.
And now, he would be able to go back to her where she awaited at the base. Kaori Sakurazaka, the Wild Cherry Blossom of the Human Weapons Unit  She felt caged inside of the base. It was a safe place where they could regroup and patch up; and it was a place where Kei could meditate and relax without having to think of the chaos outside, but... Kaori found herself roaming restlessly through the corridors, her hands twitching with pent up frustration. The violet haired walked outside to get some fresh air and some time to think their options before they were sent back into the field on missions.
She hadn't been out more than a few minutes, when one of Mizar's bodies fell and crashed right before her. She tensed up, getting on her offensive stance. There was no respite... no rest.

Because my time is short, I'll kill you..."The night had been long and most of it had been spent meditating, training, trying to get himself completely ready to face a new day with all of the heavy implications of Yamato's announcement and the threat of another Septentrione lingering overhead. And when he had emerged from the training facility feeling much more himself than he had yesterday and leagues different from the day before, he had immediately gone to find his companion from the former Human Weapons Unit...only to find that she had stepped out of the base for the moment. Immediately stepping onto the elevator he ascended to the lobby of the Diet and exited with a smooth gait, spying Kaori just as she finished off the Septentrione Body before her.

Kaori Sakurazaka, the Wild Cherry Blossom of the Human Weapons Unit Kaori turned when she heard the familiar voice of her companion, a small grunt and a nod the only answer she could give. She breathed heavily, that purple bubble b*****d really putting up a fight. In the end she had been able to destroy it before it could multiply, taking quite a toll on her. She would be fine, though. Nothing a few deep breaths wouldn't cure.
"I am. One of those Mizar bodies was wandering too close to the base. I couldn't let it duplicate." She looked at Kei, a little smile curling at the corner of her lips. "I see you are doing better. I am glad."

Because my time is short, I'll kill you...""I am sorry to have worried you," the swordsman apologized firmly as he moved out of the building and set a hand on her shoulder, letting her know that he was controlled enough to do that...that he had restored the person that he was, the person that she cared about, "Relax now. Let me help you." His expression softened as he looked at her, but as he had opened his lips to say something else there was a ringing in his pocket that stole his attention away. A call? He opened it swiftly, lifting it to his ear as the person on the other line explained the situation. "I understand. Raise the kiosk now."
He flipped his phone shut and nodded, turning to his companion with a solemn expression, the reunion moment broken. "Yamato has asked that I act as a medium to channel Lugh so that we can defeat today's Septentrione, Mizar. This won't take long. Eiji "Gin" Mishima  "Nix? I've just arrived in Tokyo. Things are more quiet than I anticipated, but that must mean they're preparing for something big. If something happens to me...nah, never mind. Just stay safe in Inaba, alright?" Before he decided to come to Tokyo Gin had debated calling those he knew to let them know he planned to weaken the Tokyo team, but he thought he'd already overcome that worry when he decided it was better for them to remain in Inaba, safe. But now that he was here, he was hesitant. There was a lot he had left unsaid when he chose to come alone, and though he didn't want them to follow him, he didn't want to leave things as they were either. He wouldn't put them in danger though, and there was no telling what risks there were in Tokyo. When he thought about Nix and the others though...he wanted to be sure they were safe. To hear her voice one more time. "I know you're probably upset that I'm going into enemy territory, but Tico made it very clear; Polaris will simply keep sending threats our way if we don't unify humanity. Since fighting seems to be the only way to do it...I'm going to bring them back. Don't worry about me...and, I'll keep you in mind." Gin moved towards the main street, taking only enough precaution not to get ambushed. He wanted an open battle, and if they confronted him, that would play right into his hand.
"You shouldn't be here, Mishima. You know what's going on right now, and...the Chief won't show you mercy." It wasn't a surprise when Gin finally encountered a member of JPs, just for it to be Makoto Sako. She probably wanted to talk him out of the fight, but at the same time he knew that she was too honest of a person to follow this idea whole heartedly. There was something holding her to Hotsuin, and he didn't know what it was...but he trusted her, in spite of their differences.
"I should be saying that to you, Makoto. I'm here because a world based on stepping on the weak isn't worth this! It shouldn't even be considered. I know you owe JPs, but I won't ask...just think about what you're doing." His message wasn't particularly strong, but she reacted to it immediately, showing just how true his words were. She was divided at heart, but Hotsuin must have done something for her, something which impacted her deeply. He could relate to that feeling, but he couldn't approve of turning on your friends for it, either. And the end result was even worse than the means, when it came to Hotsuin's plan. "I won't ask. Just step aside, or summon your demons. I won't stop until you're all defeated. The world should go back to the way it was...and I will make it happen."

So you guys work hard, while I live it up, got it?""Don't touch me," the drummer easily swatted aside the attack of one of the so-called Egalitarianism Faction men investigating the capitol city and headquarters of the Meritocracy Faction, having encountered and dealt with him in equally-effortless fashion. Touma didn't have time for small fries like this lot...he didn't care to waste his time on anybody right now, really. It had happened this morning...waking up, searching the base, not finding that familiar head of white hair...after all that had happened yesterday she had left without a word. She had followed her own beliefs...and they weren't the same as his. But whether she trusted Hotsuin after last night or not, and he himself didn't truly trust the man even if he was endeared to the ideals of the Faction they fought for (to a degree), there was unfinished business between the two of them. Her slow recovery last night hadn't given them the chance to really talk.
Now, unless he beat whoever was placed in front of him and found her to bring her back over to their side, he wouldn't have the chance to talk to her at all. He would find her before someone less forgiving...then they could hash this thing, and a lot of other things, out together...not separate. She hadn't saved his life all these times and vice-versa just to end up dying somewhere without him, after all, had she? Sano Gallen  It was him, that no good piece of trash. Sano rubbed the mark under his eye, feeling the scar that he covered with ink. Just seeing that wannabe rocker made his blood boil with hatred. Though this was the opportune moment to exact revenge. Normally he would just kill the guy but dragging him back to Yamato would give him more leverage in the rankings. Plus he would enjoy seeing Gin's punishment for turning against JPs. "Heh.. If Yamato kills him then I'll get take what's left and drop it on Nix's doorstep." The man had to quickly flee his hiding spot as a certain creature came floating around.. Sano Gallen Sano returned to base to report his findings but was faced with a different task at hand. Yamato had found someone conspiring to turn traitor and leave to another faction. They couldn't have that could they? After the trash was disposed of, the two men had conversation. They had a lot of ideals in common so it was surprising that he was able to talk without yelling for more than a few minutes. Though that didn't mean he was going to drop the plans he had in mind..
