Noting that everyone seemed to be either holding back or struggling a little bit (eyebrow raise at Lydia as she ineffectually swung but was then sent stumbling away several paces), Finn stepped in with a broad, sweeping blow of his lance, breaking his defense for just a moment.
Gale made a disgusted sound in the back of his throat.
"The bloody hell did he just take," he said, a million questions running through his mind. He raised the rifle - but instead of shooting their opponent, Gale flipped his weapon over, grasped it by the barrel, and swung it like a baseball bat, slamming the hilt of it against the man's side with a sharp smack.
Chance gave Finn a sidelong glance and a faint smirk, finally giving at least some of his attention to his partner. The feeling of dissatisfaction about distancing himself was unpleasant, but necessary, he kept telling himself; he needed to do this for the good of Finn and Ripley's relationship, so that he wasn't getting into anything.
Or maybe he was just attempting to convince himself of that for other reasons, absolving himself of the things he didn't want to admit.
"I'm not gonna miss," said Chance lightly, pulling back on the bowstring and letting an arrow fly.
While the assailant may have not noted the blood trickling from his lips, Lex most certainly did. The erratic motions and the weaker swipe were taken into account, and Lex booted the hooded figure away from him and towards another Hunter in a sick game of Hot Potato.
Lex had seen this sort of thing before - not to this extent, but an overdose of narcotics. Too much heroin and you thought you were invincible, until your high came crumbling down. This was just an extreme version of that.
Soon, the man would be choking on his own vomit.

There was no way he could possibly lose, not to these people. They didn't have the stuff, they didn't have any way of pumping themselves up they weren't him he was a god and he was invincible dammit even if their knives and bows and bullets stung. Like bees to a wall of iron. Nothing could touch him nothing could touch him nothing could bring him down.
Warm Crimson streamed from his mouth and ears, but that didn't matter. His power couldn't be contained.

The Dealer's systems are beginning to shut down! He is now at 30 HP and does 4 auto damage!
Lex backed away, blocking the erratic and weak dagger slash with his forearm. He'd never seen an overdose take effect so quickly, and had to admit he was mildly enthralled by the effects. Lex made a few mental notes, reminding himself to list this in his mission report.
Lex just hoped the assailant didn't die before they could get him to the island.
His eyes were the first to go. Blurred vision at first, outlines of these irregulars and their weapons blending into glowing silhouettes that rushed him and stayed still. Then they were pink, just a light dusting of sprinkles before they and the world around them turned deep, deep red. Red flowed from the sockets, painting his face in a crude pattern of two vertical lines that sentenced him to death.
Blood flowed from his ears and mouth, leaving their marks and proclaiming it to the world; the god was dying. Furious, anguished swipes were taken at the party, but he made no contact. Erratic arms soon became too twitchy to move and his trembling hands dropped the dagger and clenched into half fists, unable to fully close.
The heart palpitations stopped next, the entire heart stopped for a second. The figure convulsed, knees buckling, before narrow slits of pupils set in bloodied eyes dilated completely, a gunshot inside the chest cavity preceding. More blood came from the mouth, then the figure fell face down.

While the more enthusiastic and more experienced hunters leapt to follow their assailant, it took Oliver a minute to get over the shock and follow them. To his credit the dark didn’t phase him, nor did it even occur to him that running around outside in a dinosaur shirt and boxers was not a thing he ever wanted to do. He bravely charged out there with the rest of them, intent on catching their attacker.
However, the mad chase provided just enough obstacles to trip up the hapless kid in the darkness. All of Finn’s assistance learning to run was wasted as he clumsily stumbled over items in the alleys, fell over the fences, and practically tumbled down those beachfront stairs.
The poor, battered kid arrived just in time to witness the final conclusion, what was clearly a gruesome death. He immediately retched in the closest thing he could find to a corner.

Lex made a face, mostly disturbed but a little distraught, when their assailant died from what he could only think was an explosion of the heart, or something. Something had gone boom, and there'd been blood everywhere. So much for questioning and examining his brainwave patterns.
A disgruntled sigh, he wouldn't even bother to check the boy for a pulse. Instead he knelt down and picked up the glowing runic knife, wiping the blood on his undershirt before realizing that he was in fact in his pajamas. Oh God...
"Mission's over. Back to the hotel, get your stuff, warp home." Lex ordered quietly, walking away from the corpse with a hazed look in his eyes.
Should he have taken the body with him? Probably. It was just another testament of his failure as a Hunter, though. A trophy of his lackluster performance. Besides, anything of importance in the bloodstream was long gone and all over the pavement.
