In spite of the trouble it was giving him, Darren was glad he'd found this pool of water. He hadn't even thought about how there were aquatic rock types, so they were bound to be attracted to the incense as well. Peering into the pool again, Darren caught sight of another new pokemon coming to the surface, a turtle by the looks of it. Darren backed up, scooting his incense back a bit as well. A smart tactic considering that the turtle climbed out of the water and proceeded to walk towards them until Flynn stepped up to battle. As they fought, Darren scanned the turtle with his pokedex.
Tirtouga, the Prototurtle Pokémon. Tirtouga can dive underwater to half-mile depths, and can also attack onshore.
Darren looked unamused. This information... It was very clearly ascertainable by just being around the pokemon itself. He swore, if he ever became a professor, he would update the dex entries with little known information that might actually be.... Helpful. He sighed, turning his attention back to the Tirtouga as it was quickly knocked out by Flynn, unsurprisingly. Darren tossed a pokeball at the downed rock type and as soon as it was caught, he added it to his ever growing collection.

It seemed that there were no longer any pokemon coming up in the water. That or his incense had finally burnt out. He was still a little sore about that, but he wouldn't blame the aron. With a sigh, he stood, planning to head back towards Sable, however a hair raising screech echoed throughout the cave, and Darren whirled around to see a massive flying pokemon heading straight towards them. "F-FLYNN!!!" Darren yelled, but the charmeleon was already on it. Out of nowhere, Flynn was plummeting down on top of the ancient rock type and gave it a good hard smack of his iron tail, sending the beast to the ground. Darren shakily checked his pokedex as his other hand fumbled for a pokeball quickly before the dino got back up.
Aerodactyl, an extinct Flying Pokémon. Its hard fangs suggest that it was a carnivore. Its sharp claws were probably used to capture prey.
Darren paled. Once again his pokedex was NOT proving to be very helpful. Nevertheless Darren was able to grab a pokeball and throw it, but the ball only bounced off of the aerodactyl's rock hide and caused it to start to stir. Had Flynn not completely knocked it out yet...?! Darren hastily grabbed another pokeball and sent it flying at the fossil, this time successfully capturing it, much to the boy's relief.

Darren had to take a moment to calm down after that attack. He breathed a long sigh. Researching was dangerous work! He had no idea! A few more breaths, and Darren finally managed to calm down. There were what seemed to be no pokemon in sight, and his incense was almost completely burnt out. There were still faint fumes, Darren doubted they would be enough to attract any more pokemon. He would be wrong though, as a little rock pokemon approached them. "Oh... Hey there little guy." Darren gave a nervous smile. He wasn't sure if he'd seen this one yet or not. It was hard to tell, after all, they had seen so many all at once. Before he could check though, Flynn was already engaging the roggenrola. Darren would have objected, but it was kind of late by then, so after the rock type was knocked out, Darren gave in with a shrug of exasperation and caught the little pokemon. He could sort things out later if it ended up he'd accidentally caught two.
With that, he made his way back to Sable with a tired smile. "Arceus.... Remind me not to do this again for a good long while until I've recovered from this one. Those incense take a lot out of you." Darren groaned, flopping onto the ground, clearly not caring if he got dirt all over his clothes or not. "How are you doing? That headache go away yet?" He asked, glancing up at her from the ground with a tired smile. Hercules followed suit, flopping down next to Darren and snuggling up with him while Flynn preferred to stand, rotating his arm a few times to loosen it up.

It took a while longer before Darren could actually get over to where Sable was sitting. During that time, the teen had to keep alert so that no other wild pokemon would ambush her. No more approached, though, so the teen didn't have to worry about any other injuries until Darren came to sit next to her."Seems like it, given how tired you look,"she replied, not really having been able to see much of what happened after her own pokemon attacks, although having a vague idea given the amount of screeching and rumbling. She couldn't help but give the teen a frown when he asked about her headache."It seems to have been replaced with a bruise on my side,"she answered with a bit of irritation, and it was somewhat true. Even though the headache was still around, it wasn't quite strong enough to register since that sandshrew had slammed into her pretty hard earlier.

Darren brightened, scrolling through all the new entries on his pokedex. "This is the pay off. This is what makes it all worthwhile. I mean look at this. Did you know that Archen has a unique combination of egg groups? No other pokemon is in the monster and water 3 egg groups." Darren flipped to another random page of his pokedex. "Amaura's sails change color depending on it's mood?" He asked, glancing up at Sable again with a big grin on his face. For a moment it seemed as though his fatigue from earlier had completely washed away. "And look at this. It says that this pokemon... Carbink, is related to the legendary Diancie. Diancie itself is actually a rare mutated Carbink! I never knew that. I wonder if the one I caught might have the mutation..." Darren wondered aloud.
He paused from his excited chatter to ask how Sable was doing, hoping that his loud excited blabbering wasn't giving her another headache. Thankfully it seemed her headache was gone, but a new issue had arisen; a bruise on her side. Darren frowned and sat up. "A bruise? What happened?" He asked with concern. "I thought we agreed not to get another extended stay at the pokecenter." He chuckled, though it was a bit forced. "How bad is it...?" He asked, struggling between wanting to inspect and play doctor himself and knowing better than to mindlessly reach towards a girl's waist.

Sable quickly grabbed Lily and held her close as she felt herself fall, curling herself up as best as she could so that when they hit the ground, at least the little fox pokemon wouldn't have to deal with the direct impact. Although her impulse was to scream, and certainly Lily's was as well, Sable instead gritted her teeth on the way down so as to avoid shouting in the pokemon's little ears.
Even though she didn't scream, Sable certainly let out a yelp when she hit the ground below. She shuddered from the pain of the impact and cringed as she tried to quickly determine some of what worked and what didn't. She had just decided that her arms managed to survive the impact when she heard voices around her."I told you I heard something going on up there!""Yeah, yeah. So what do you think? Should we bother?"Sable's head was still feeling rather fuzzy from the impact, but she thought she heard some sort of impact, not knowing that one of the people had lightly kicked Darren to see if he'd react or not."Eh, might as well. Their starters should fetch a good price at least."Those words registered a bit better to the teenage trainer, and she didn't like the sound of that at all, so she let out a groan as she started to get up.
The teen's movements were met with a chuckle."Well, looks like one of them's active. Good."The comment might not have done much to make Sable move any better, but the sharp sounds of three pokeballs letting out their contents cleared away quite a bit of the desert trainer's daze."I was hoping to get a bit of fun,"the speaker, a woman wearing some sort of black uniform with a large red "R" on the front, sneered as her bronzor materialized in front of her. The other two people Sable had heard were wearing similar uniforms, although theirs were designed more for their male figures, and had their own pokemon, a golduck and an emboar, at the ready.
Sable grimaced and quickly let out a few pokemon of her own as she finished standing up, specifically her servine, pidgey, and ekans. She didn't want to be caught with just Lily and Frizz to defend her if things degraded into a battle, and it looked like that was the way it was going to go. The trio around the teens sneered a bit before one of the two males started speaking."I wouldn't try that if I were you, kid,"the guy started as he sized up what he could see of the teen's pokemon, including the weird fox thing she was holding onto."It's three against two, and that's assuming your buddy over there is in any shape to back you up,"he warned, then had a rather nasty smirk as he looked the girl over again."Either way, you rookies just won't be able to handle an extended battle, and that's exactly what you'll be getting into. So, how about you just hand over your pokemon without any fuss, and me and my buddies might be willing to be a bit nicer?"
Sable let out an unamused snort and scoffed at the offer."Riiiiiight, and that just means you'll beat us within two inches of our lives instead of just one,"she snarked, causing the third guy to let out a snort that was from amusement."Sounds like this b***h has your number,"she could hear the guy mutter jokingly to the one that had been trying to play peacekeeper, causing that one to let out a sigh."Guess we'll have to do this the hard way..."he lamented sarcastically before waving his hand dismissively."Knock out that snake with a Heat Crash,"he ordered boredly, certain that the fight would be a fast one.
Unfortunately for these three, Sable wasn't exactly concerned by the unfair odds."Oaken, Growth! Amethyst, Bite!"the teen quickly commanded, and although the ekans did get hit with by the rampaging boar, the poisonous serpent managed to sink her fangs into the only opponent that'd actually get hurt by the attack: The floating hunk of metal, of all things. Meanwhile, Oaken glowed a bit as he absorbed nutrients from the earth around him, which wasn't that hard to do given the type of cave he was in. The teen frowned a bit when she saw that Amethyst's attack didn't quite knock out the bronzor, since she had a bad feeling on what would happen next.
The two older trainers weren't pleased with how things were going at all."Weaken their defenses with a Tail Whip!""Get that thing off you with Confusion!"Both commands came rather quickly, and while the reactions to the golduck's little bit of but wiggling came as no surprise, the fact that the ekans still hadn't fainted yet was a bit of a shock. Unfortunately for them, that also got Amethyst out of the way, and that meant an opening was available."Now, Heat Wave!"the teenage trainer quickly called out, and to the shock of the three thugs a burst of hot wind blew forth as the pidgey flapped its little wings furiously. Being a fire type, the emboar was easily able to take the attack, but the bronzor's durability only went so far and the floating hunk of metal fell to the ground with a thud.

I figure she'd try cooking it herself first, but the combination of her poor baking skills and the pressure on her nerves to try and get the meal just perfect would result in the baking portion being quickly messed up, and then it'd cause her nerves to become worse so she messes up the portions she'd normally have no problem with, and on and on until she just gives up and dips into her savings to treat Darren to a nice meal. XD
Apparently, those rolls were waiting to try and give a couple of Rocket grunts a celebi and a groudon. >_> Gaia's dice are jerks.

Darren was certainly glad Sable actually seemed genuinely interested in the things he was saying, and particularly interested in the Carbink he showed her, wondering what the crystals were made from. "Well, it says that Carbink are born from immense pressure underground, and that's generally how things like crystals and diamonds are formed, so I would speculate something along those lines." Darren explained, nodding in agreement as she commented how pretty it was. Darren debated if perhaps she would like to have it, but before he could ask, Sable commented on the bruise at her side, and his attention became completely focused on Sable, though he wasn't exactly keen on going around lifting shirts, even if he had seen Sable in a bikini before. He was just raised that way, and couldn't help but blush a bit when she lifted her shirt for him. Nevertheless he moved closer to inspect. Her side was a bit red, but she clearly wasn't in great pain, which meant that likely there wasn't any sort of severe internal bleeding or breaks. With a nod, Darren rose again. "Well that's good... I'm just glad it was a sandshrew, rather than something bigger." Darren thought back to the rhyhorn that'd charged him earlier and shuddered.
However, the shaking didn't seem to stop, even though Darren was certain he had stopped moving his body. Had he really been that terrified? Wait... Darren heard a loud crack, and Sable had picked up on it as well, starting to suggest they move, but by then it was too late, and before Darren knew it, the floor had fallen out from under his feet. He was in such a state of shock that he didn't quite know what to do as he fell. It was as if he were frozen with the same shocked expression on his face as when he realized that he no longer had solid footing. At first everything seemed to move so slowly as he tipped over and fell through the air, then suddenly he had jumped forward in time, hitting the ground with his side. He couldn't breathe, he couldn't think. He just lay there in pain until finally a kick from behind elicited a gasp of air and a few coughs out of him, and finally he was able to assess the situation. They had fallen through the ground, voices that had spoken up earlier were now playing back in his mind, though he was hearing them for the first time.
Were they the ones who had caused this...? Darren forced his eyes open. It seemed Flynn and Hercules were okay, they were able to get back on their feet without too much difficulty. The same couldn't be said for Darren unfortunately. He struggled to try and sit up, but ended up falling back to the floor with a weak cough as the grunt who had kicked him earlier now stepped on his back to keep Darren down and make a point to Sable as he explained that it was essentially three against one since Darren was unable to currently back her up. Thankfully it seemed Sable was more than willing and able to hold her own. Oaken, Amethyst, and... Was that the pidgey Sable had caught on the train...? How did it know Heat Wave? Darren's dazed confusion was once again distracted by the familiar feel of a boot digging into his back. Darren shot a glare at the grunt, managing to finally find his words. "I would get off of me, if I were you...." He wheezed, which only earned him a smirk from the grunt. "Oh...? Just what do you plan on doing if I say no?" He challenged, and Darren gave another weak chuckle. "Oh, it's not what I'm going to do. I was referring to him." Darren's eyes glanced in the direction of his charmeleon, who had closed the distance between where he had fallen and where Darren now lay, and proceeded to slam into the grunt's stomach with a solid headbutt. It was enough force to knock the grunt off of Darren and onto his butt a few feet away.
Flynn gave a self righteous snort and then moved to help Darren back to his feet while Hercules hopped over. "Thanks bud...." Darren nodded appreciatively to Flynn before turning his attention back to the recovering grunt. "Why you little--!" His threat was cut off as two more rocket members stepped into the area. "Sounds like trouble Chris.""Make that double Kris." They both flipped their long white hair. "Who's this cutie?""I don't know, but he sure gave Ford a hard time." The one on the right commented, looking down to the grunt on the ground as he stood and brushed himself off. "Want us to take over?" She offered. "Be my guest." He grumbled passing them by so that he could focus on Sable and his emboar. "Ooh he looks mad Kris...""Heya cutie pie, what'd you do to him?" They asked Darren. "You better not make us mad!""Yeah, or we'll give you the cold shoulder~" They chimed together, sending out a Sneasel and Weavile to fight. "I'm afraid I can't make any promises...." Darren gave a haggard smile as Flynn stepped forward on his own, and Darren sent out Mei to fight, keeping Hercules back.
"Well at least he's honest.""I can dig that." They shrugged and shot Darren a double grin. "But let's see how you can handle,""our double Quick Attack!" The two dark ice types rushed forward, striking Flynn with surprising speed. It looked like it would have hurt a lot, but Flynn's thick hide seemed to have protected him, and the rocket twins looked taken aback. "Kris, it didn't do a thing!""Don't act like I can't see that myself Chris!" Ignoring the twins' squabble and borrowing from Sable's tactics, Darren turned to his pokemon. "Mei, use Dig, Flynn, lets make this quick. Heat Wave!" He commanded, and the charmeleon opened his mouth to spew forth a fiery heat wave that knocked the two ice types unconscious.

It didn't help trio were trying to rob Sable and Darren of their pokemon by force. But stepping on her friend's back? To say that Sable was irritated about that would be a severe understatement. That made her decision to fight back no surprise, and from the way the first clash looked, it seemed she had a bit more than raw anger to bring to the fight. Between Amethyst's ferocity and a fiery assault from the pidgey, the first casualty of the battle would belong to the grunts. It seemed that, although the type of pokemon was rather intimidating, the bronzor just couldn't take the attacks brought against it and was forced to be recalled by its trainer."Lucky shot,"the woman spat as she swapped out the hunk of metal for a nincada."Let's see you try to burn this bug,"she taunted, not that she expected the little bird to last long enough to try.
Sable had other plans at the moment, though."Amethyst! Get back here! Pidgey! Give us some cover!"Sable barked as she pulled out one of the pieces of chocolate she had gotten last year. Sure, it probably seemed silly, but right about now they were more useful than a potion, so the teen knelt down and held out the restorative candy for the ekans to gulp down."Oaken, take out that golduck!"With her last command, the servine gave a nod before sending a flurry of leaves at the water pokemon.
"Snack break's over! Flame Charge!"one of the grunts snapped as he dug his heel harder onto Darren's back like the guy was some sort of improvised stress ball. The boar pokemon opted to try and attack its previous target, but as requested, Sable's pidgey got in the way and took the hit to avoid risking her trainer getting caught up in the attack."Blow it back with Gust!"Sable quickly commanded as she got back up, her ekans feeling ready to head back into the fight now that it had something to snack on. The pidgey obliged, and as luck would have it, managed to time it so that the emboar got blown into its trainer just as the male was knocked onto his rear end by a pissed off Flynn."That's for being stupid enough to threaten us,"the trainer growled as the grunt shoved his emboar off of himself.
Unfortunately, it seemed the trio members weren't quite dumb enough to challenge the group without any backup. Another pair wearing similar uniforms stepped into the area. Sable shot them both a glare as the offered to deal with the "cutie" whose charmeleon had just knocked their peer onto his butt."Think you can handle Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum over there?"Sable asked her travel buddy, but soon had to turn her attention back to her own fight as the nincada on the field started scratching up her pidgey. Thankfully, it was only able to get in a couple of hits before the bird pokemon could get out of reach, but they were still decent hits, meaning the pidgey would need a boost pretty soon if she was going to stay in the fight.

Whoops, had to fix something in the battle details. Not that it really matters, but I forgot at the time that Sable's pidgey was in the center position, so the golduck also got hit with its attack. Again, not that it really matters since Oaken's gonna knock it out either way this round. XD And then had to check multi-battle rules on pokemon being knocked out mid-turn. Lots of stuff to figure out.

It seemed Flynn couldn't have timed things any better, as soon after he'd knocked the grunt off of Darren, Sable added insult to injury by knocking his emboar into him soon after. Darren would have been more amused if he weren't in so much pain. Flynn however was able to give a large taunting smirk for them both. Two against three was looking like pretty good odds after all, but unfortunately it wasn't to last as two more grunts showed up to deal with Darren, or perhaps just to see what was going on, but either way it seemed like they were dealing with him while Sable took on the other three. Darren let out a hoarse chuckle when Sable asked if he though he could handle, as she so affectionately called them, tweedle dee and tweedle dumb. "Heh... Yeah, I think we're good over here." Darren affirmed while the twins visibly puffed up at Sable's insult. "Did you hear what that b***h called us Chris?!""Yeah, who does she think she is?!""Right?! She needs to be taught a lesson. It's rude to insult people you know!""Absolutely, but first we have to take care of the cutie.""Oh, that's right. Okay, we'll deal with him first, and then she's next!"
Seeming to have agreed on a plan, the twins attacked with their sneasel and weavile, but Flynn was able to burn them out, quite literally. "This isn't good Kris... All we have are ice types...." Chrissy whispered to her twin. "That's why we have water and rock dual types stupid! Send out your lapras...!" Kristal hissed back. "Oh... Right, duh." Chrissy laughed, sending out her lapras as instructed, while her twin sent out an Amaura. "So you have a type advantage. Well I'd just like to see you try and pull that stunt on these two!" Kristal said confidently. "You don't honestly think I rely just on type advantages do you....?" Darren chuckled. "Flynn, Iron Tail on that lapras." The charmeleon was a bit confused at first. Amaura was critically weak to a steel type attack like that. He figured perhaps Darren was just trying to make a point suggesting that he could win without type advantages, but that was only half of it. As Flynn knocked the Lapras out with a hard smack of his tail, he was reminded that Mei was buried underground, poised for an attack on the amaura. The eevee popped out of the ground from underneath the ice type and headbutted its stomach hard, knocking it out as well.
"s**t... Kris this cutie's strong...""Too strong... But we can't just quit!""Right!" The two sent out their next set of pokemon, a jinx and a froslass. "You better not blowtorch these two or I'll slap you!" Chrissy threatened. "Make that a doubleslap!" Kristal added. Darren thankfully had other intentions. "Mei, give that froslass a good bite. Flynn, change things up a bit with a dragon rush." He commanded his pokemon calmly. Again, the twin's pokemon fell, and this time when Flynn and Mei returned, Mei began to glow and evolve, much to Darren's surprise. When she finished, she was a pokemon Darren had never seen before, and he quickly fumbled to pull out his pokedex, which only ticked off the twins even though they were also a bit stunned by this interesting eeveelution. "Hey! The least you can do is pay attention to us!""Seriously, how ru--""Shh, hold that thought, I'm trying to read this." Stunned and angry, the twins opened and closed their mouths long enough to gather information on his new pokemon.
Meleeon; the Riot Pokémon. Meleeon are a relatively new discovery, this particular Eeveelution went unnoticed largely due to the method through which it's evolution is achieved by an Eevee. Meleeon is a breakthrough in the studies of Eevee's genetic makeup, being one of the first dual typed Eeveelutions to be discovered. These territorial pokemon are nocturnal, and therefore more aggressive at night.

As Mitsu walked into the proximity of Mt. Moon, he looked up at it and tilted his head a bit. This would be a decent place to train Asuka at least. Maybe Hanataro could hold his ground against some of them, too. A bit of an emphasis on "maybe". He was ultimately weaker than the Pokémon on the mountain, but if Mitsu planned it right, he should be able to train Hanataro as well as Asuka.

This Sandshrew was a bit too strong for Hanataro, so Mitsu decided to send out Asuka. Alright....Now that he thought about it, was this his first battle with Asuka? He used Rapid Spin, though it wasn't very powerful. Mitsu was about to have Asuka used Double Slap again, but then he smiled. This would be perfect!"Use Encore! Trap him with Rapid Spin!""Fairy~! Fairy Clefairy~!"Her spell seemed to work as Sandshrew used Rapid Spin again. Yes! Perfect!""Lets use Pound from now on, Asuka. This should be over soon."Asuka nodded and attacked with Pound. It didn't knock Sandshrew unconscious, though, and he attacked with one final Rapid Spin before he was taken down by another one of Asuka's Pound strikes.
Mitsu smiled and picked Asuka up, hugging her as he dug into his bag some potions to treat her."That was amazing, Asuka! Really! You're amazing!"Mitsu knelt and let Asuka down, spraying her with the potions before patting her head. He stood, and decided to put Rao and Duke back on the team in place of Kyo and Kaiden. Those two were a lot stronger than the rest of his team.
