Deciding it was now or never, Xashowd spoke his mind. "Well...Have you seen an Astrolabe around here by any chance?" He inquired. The Jabberwock chuckled. "What use would I have for an artifact that charts the stars? Unless it were made of precious metal or magic, I would not desire it. Nor have I roused from this spot since those humans brought me here..." It replied, a sneer tracing its words at the end. Humans? It must be talking about the previous owners... Xashowd thought. "Then, has anyone come down here in the past few days? A thief stole an Astrolabe from a museum, and we were hoping to retrieve it." "Hmmm...I could not say. I was in grand slumber 'til this bauble struck my claw..." The Jabberwock replied, rolling the Lumosphere in its claw. "An intriguing bauble, yet I already have three. I've no need of another." It stated, flicking it at Xashowd. He reached out to catch it as the dragon continued. "Search if you will, but take nothing other than what you seek. Lest you wish to see my insides..." Its throat rumbled with laughter. "That goes for you as well, radiant maiden..." It said, turning its head toward Sammy. "It would displease me to be forced to rid the world of your...interesting glow." Finished with its words, the Jabberwock laid its head back down upon the floor, seeking sleep once more.

Xashowd sighed in relief. "Thank the benevolent Winds...that could've been disastrous." He walked around the great creature, hoping to aid Sammy in her search. He scanned the area but found nothing that looked like an Astrolabe. He hoped Sammy was having better luck.

Sammy turned to the Jabberwock as it answered Xashowd's question rather thoroughly. "Oh, well, thank you." she replied as it laid its head back down. "I don't know if you've heard, but this place has shut down. If you need any help getting home, just ask." She smiled at the creature and gave it a thumbs-up. "Wonder what it meant by glowing..." she murmured to herself as she turned and finished scouring the old trunk she was looking through.

Gwen had followed along up until the hatch, having decided to stay above in case things went bad down there and she could just leave. No need to risk her neck with a potential threat, right? She eventually hops down after the Jabberwock settles down to sleep, rolling her eyes at Sammy mumbling to herself. "Ya do realize that you randomly glow sometimes, right?" The werewolf calls after the magical girl, cautiously walking past the Jabberwock, "Cause that's probably what it means by glowing." She starts to look around, eyes glowing a faint gold in the darkness.

Sammy glanced back at Gwen, the light she was emitting cutting off in an instant. "What? No I don't." She went back to resume her search. "Wait, did it get darker in here...?"

Xashowd looked up from his search at the ladies' statements. It was true, Sammy did glow from time to time, but Xashowd hadn't paid much attention to it. Now that the subject had been brought up by Gwen, he thought over it while looking for the Astrolabe. Sammy glowed on occasion, and when she touched the Lumosphere it grew brighter. Then there was the incident where she lied about not knowing of the Astrolabe...They connected somehow, but he wasn't sure where they led. He'd need more information, but given the earlier lie he had a feeling Sammy was very secretive on that subject, so directly asking her would merely cause trouble. He'd have to watch her actions and words carefully in the future.

It had grown darker after she'd stopped glowing, so he walked over to the duo, returned Lumosphere in hand. He said the command word and the light shone once more. "That it had. Does this help?" Xashowd inquired cheerfully.

...Meanwhile, Thanaphyr was floating by the hatch door, looking down at the trio as they searched. He'd heard all that transpired, but he still didn't feel safe about going down into a Jabberwock's lair. "Man, I hope they finish up soon. I don't wanna be near that dragon any more than I have to be..." He said to himself.

It had taken some time for the news of the missing ancient artifact to reach some parts of the stellar circle. Even when it had, the red head hadn't paid much mind at first. Gaia was well known for its antics, and the search for a relic stolen from the museum as well as the prospect of a treasure hunt, though a thrilling concept, was more along the lines of an adventure she expected of her blond haired sister-in-law, not herself.

That was before she learned what the artifact was. An Astrolabe, and a magic one at that. With the amount of celestial beings now calling Gaia home, she should have guessed something like that would be here. But stolen, and possibly hidden in a place such as this...? She looked about her surroundings, the dark fairgrounds casting shadows that may seem almost eerie to one without a light. As if catching onto her thoughts, the small companions floating about her seemed to shine to light a bit brighter, half a dozen stars illuminating a small radius about her as if it was the middle of day.

She gave a smile and nod of gratitude to her companions. "If it is here, we should be methodical about this." She tapped her chin thoughtfully. "The reports suggest that the culprit threw it away while escaping. If they had any intention of coming back to it, they may have thrown it aside in an area that is not easy to sift through, while in the same breath, not impossible for them to navigate. That way they could escape, while also being able to backtrack later."

The stars about her bobbed and flickered in response, weaving around in a sort of rhythmic dance that somehow showed that they were thinking as well. After a moment, one broke away from the others, moving Eastward and flickering to capture its mistress's attention. She followed the star's gaze, finding what appears to be booths in in the distance. The longer she stared, the more she was able to make out specifics of the closest of the booths. Balloons on walls, hanging teddy bears, pyramids of glass jugs.

"The game booths?" She considered the suggestion for a moment, before nodding. "That seems like a good idea. You and I shall start there." She gestured to two of the other stars, "See if you can find other booth like areas--food sections, or anything of the sort. It may have been tossed into one of the vendors stations." For the last three, she paused, thinking about the other areas. Though she seemed to have difficulty sensing the Astrolabe itself (how she wished she had the keener senses of her older brother!) she could sense another star close by. Going with her logic earlier, chances were it was Rai and Ravena. The princess and her star companion were more than enough to cover that area; if it was there, they would find it. She doubted an escaping thief would take the risk of getting lost in a room of mirrors of a haunted house, but it was better to be safe than sorry. She gestured to the last three. "Explore the walkthrough and any indoor attractions. I don't expect it to be there, but you can't be sure. All of you report to me with your findings once you are done." Each of the stars flickered in response before five of them darted off, palm sized twinkling lights dashing to their respective parts of the fairgrounds. The last stayed loyally by its mistress, drifting just slightly ahead as she made her way to the game booths.

Gwen lets out a soft, aggravated sigh as she picks through a few more things. "I don't think it's down here... I doubt the thief would have gotten in here without the jabberwhatever noticing." She grumbles and heads for the ladder, eyeing the Jabberwock as she walks past before scrambling up the ladder. She glances at the reaper thing before heading for the entrance, calling over her shoulder, "This place is too damn dusty for me anyway, I need cleaner air." She works her way back through the maze and back to the entrance, thankful that she had scratched marks into various walls to help backtrack. She pulls her scarf down and takes big breaths of non-dusty air. "Oh, thank God for fre- shiny sparkly bits." Her gaze snaps to the 'shiny sparkly bits' (stars for those actually good with words) and starts to chase after it like a dog chasing a car or squirrel. Just not on all fours.

The star was busy zipping to and fro, searching for any sign of the lost artifact when suddenly...it had a friend. It paused only for a second before continuing as if this was a normal part of its young life. Which, strangely enough, it was. Honestly, you'd think planet bound people had never seen a star up close before. It's not like they didn't cover the entire cosmos! The star flickered once, the only outward sign of its aggravation, though it came off looking more like a twinkle. Then it drifted towards a building and under a sign, illuminating the words "House of Mirrors" before entering.

"Wait up, shiny sparkly bits!" The werewolf keeps chasing the star, hesitating a moment before entering the house of mirrors, pulling her scarf up over her nose again in case of dust. She glances around as she trots along, trying to follow the real star and not a mirror. Which wasn't hard since the mirrors are covered in a thin layer of dust from disuse. "Where ya goin', sparkles?"

Well this was probably its mos brilliant idea ever. As soon as the star entered the house of mirrors, there were other stars everywhere as the light from the one bounced off all of the mirrors, making the room very bright and twinkly. While this would have been a great idea for being able to see, now there was a slight problem: exactly where were did the walls end and the halls begin? Stumped, the star instead flew over to the person following it, the one calling the star "Sparkly bits", deciding to let her do the walking while it hitched a ride on her head. Or that was the plan at least. It knocked into reflection of Gwen three different times before actually finding the real one.

The girl blinks as the shiny sparkly bit bumps into mirrors before landing on her head. Her first reaction is to reach up and grab the star as that would obviously be the first reaction anyone would have. "... I caught it, but now what do I do with it?" The age old question.

Well typically, if you catch a falling star, you should put it in your pocket and save it for a rainy day. That's on most occasions though, when the star in question was there to be caught. This was not one of those occasions. This particular star had a purpose, a mission! It needed to scour these buildings for the astrolabe. If the person felt a need to hold it, that was fine, but she needed to move. But with the curious look on her face, and the words she uttered aloud, the star doubted she would be going anyway immediately. With a strong tug, the star lurched forward. If she was holding on tight enough, she might just find herself being pulled along for a somewhat fast paced ride.

"W-whoa, hey!?" The werewolf yelps as she's suddenly dragged through the house of mirrors, clinging to the zooming star for dear life. She really shouldn't have grabbed it... "What's you're rush!?"

Sammy nodded at Xashowd. "Mm! Quite." Things were a lot easier to see, but in doing so, she started to realize as Gwen did that this was, if anything, the least likely place for the astrolabe to be. "Gwen's right. Besides, if the thief can't stand something as predictable as the heat of the police on his tail, why would he brave coming in here?" She followed Gwen back to the ladder, but paused, suddenly realizing something else. She glanced at her broken arm, then the ladder, then her arm, then the ladder... "I...should've thought this through..."

AlwaysFadingAwaySlowly
Lady Ravena Vauville

"I see. "
It was rather obvious she didn't want to continue discussing what that statement she made reminded her of. Thus he let it be and, noticing Rai dim, he gazed at the star again.
"Sounds like a helpful and faithful one. Breathing on us? I wager he then has more than just a case of forgot to brush after a garlic heavy meal breath?"
His gaze stayed on the star a moment before returning to her.
"I shall give it a try. Be ready to get out of the way and possibly out of here should this seem to jeopardize the stability of this place."
One couldn't be too sure of things when the place already seemed to be in decay. Making himself solid, he carefully tested the backing. Pressing and pushing a little, he found it did move and revealed a small mirror-less space.
Shifting to get a better look, he could see a few blankets, pillows, and.. Were those names enclosed in a heart? His gaze shifted about more and written in several spots in marker were similar such things.
Standing, he chuckled and shook his head.
"If we found nothing else, we can say we found a make out spot."
With another small chuckle, he moved so she could get a look. This particular spot seemed a less than likely hiding spot, if in only that one could not be sure when someone might come to frequent it. It could be checked, but he doubted this particular part of the House of Mirrors was where they would find the astrolabe.

"Stars don't need to eat. Let's just say you don't want to be too close to him if he takes his face mask off.." Her voice trailed off as she watched her horned friend move the mirror backing away, coughing into her sleeve a the dust stirs up. Actually, she brought a bandana should something like this happen. Fishing it out of her pocket, she secured it around the lower half of her face until the dust once again settled. Now it looked like the bottom half of her face was partially skeletal. She could deal with it not matching the reds, blacks, and whites of her outfit as long as the dust didn't affect her breathing.

Snorting in disbelief, Rae crunched through the broken glass to stand beside him, peaking around the backing to examine the space inside. Well, he wasn't pulling her leg like she thought. "Wow, you weren't kidding." The local teens must have found it and made good use of it from the looks of things. No telling what had gone on in there in days past, and the princess didn't really want to know. Rai hovered just over her head so he could also examine the space. According to him, the astrolabe wasn't here, either. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

Stepping carefully away from the hidden space, Rae opened her mouth to no doubt make one of her famous one-liners, when she heard something far off in the distance. It sounded like a monster howl. Thank you enhanced hearing, you do actually come in handy aside from giving her the occasional migraine. Well, that was when she forgot to turn that function off, as it were. Tilting her head to the side, the princess listened carefully, but heard nothing more. Was there something really big and really bad hidden here? Shaking her head, she put it from her mind for now. No need to worry Toby with it, either.

Rai flickered gently near her ear, prompting another headtilt and curious look. "Really? But I didn't call for anyone else.. how curious. Keep those senses open, okay?" Rai flickered an affirmative. Turning back to Toby, she clapped the dust from her pants and gauntlets. "We might have little visitors soon, but I wouldn't worry. They're here to help." She was just about to elaborate, when sounds of stumbling, crunching glass, and distressed yelling caught her attention. It was nearby, too. Possibly in the same building, though she would have to be absolutely sure before assuming anything else.

"I think we have a visitor now, actually.." she whispered, casually putting a hand in her pocket. Once more, Rai flickered in her ear. Apparently, it was one of the celestial visitors he told her about earlier, plus a friendly guest. If that was the case, violence was definitely not the solution. Taking her hand from her pocket, she smiled. Maybe the stars were on their side after all. Had she access to her sister's thoughts, she would say it was more pink than blonde these days. Maybe a nice strawberry blonde with light pink mixed in. If one were to get technical, ombre was the correct term. Either way, she was happy another little one was nearby, maybe they knew something she didn't about the whole astrolabe situation. Besides, two stars were better than one, no offence to Rai.

((Looks like things are picking up. I'll try to respond more often if that's the case. Poor Rae.. once she learns about the dragon, she'll be so heart broken. u_u ))
