"Marzena." Gabby's voice was a foul hiss as the selkie threw the water balloon, wrapping one arm around Shine the moment she tried to hide against him. "Was that really necessary, Jack." Shine had already been worrying him, and now the ghoul had all but crumpled, which made him think she was going to faint again. He really did not want that. "Come here." He dragged Shine just far enough away from the booth to have a quiet conversation with her, and bent his head down to whisper. "Come on. It's no big deal. Marzena is a brat. Besides, it's just water. I dunk water over people's head in my booth. Do you want me to go ice her? I will." He sounded a little too hopeful. "I swear I will, if it makes you feel better."

Demoonica Darkmoon Nova manages to fish up three Sealed Evils, he gives them a cuddle as they are counted, then let's them beck free into the cauldron. Wingseagle He was beginning to really enjoy fishing seals out of the cauldron here. No he wasn't going to hurt them, but he might try to find himself some in the future. Maybe. For now he ignored the little net and stuck his hand in, carefully feeling around. They were still good at avoiding him, but he was able to pull three out. gently though, not too tight, he didn't want a water balloon to the face. phantompanther13 Trisha waited. She stared into the pool, hardly moving, hand lowered just a short distance away. She was so still it looked like she was stone. No wait she actually was stone. Weird. Suddenly she struck hand reaching down and catching the elusive devil seal. "I got it!" she wrangled it and gave it a hug. "Fishy fishy fishy." Ok it was a seal and not a fish but Trisha seemed rather pleased. yylaayl Quillan was getting better at catching seals with the net! This time, he managed to catch five of them, but there was always one that eluded him...... Lady in the Golden Wood Well, his luck from the day before didn't seem to persist today, but he still managed to snag three sealed evils. musicaloner7 These fishing booths seemed to be quite abundant and popular. Finding a new one to try out, Qui took the little net as directed, and got busy scooping!
That was, until she got to splat a ghoul at her feet.
.... Oh Jack, they had to be kidding her.
"I don't discriminate." Marzena said dryly, her lip curling at Gabby in particular. "I brief every prospective player on the rules, and if you accept them, you play. If you don't want the risk, then don't."
Also, it was just water.

Despite the efforts to calm her down, getting such kind attention from him caused the dam to break. Shine sniffled and began to cry, letting out two or three good sobs before she tried to contain herself. She scrubbed at her face with her fists, which still held two lollipops and a little bat, and opened one eye to look from Gabby, to Marzena, and back to Gabby again. It seemed as if she had calmed down, considering the more even breaths and the general lack of sobs, but her answer sort of implied otherwise. " Uh-huh."

Despite the fact that Gabby agreed with Marzena (perhaps for the first time ever), it didn't change the fact that he was trying to cheer Shine up - and, let's face it, Marzie had never liked him anyway. He grinned, and extended one hand up, towards his lips. "Sorry, Marzena. The ghoul wants what the ghoul wants." And yet, he was grinning as though he wasn't really sorry about it, as he blew Marzie a kiss - and his breath came out as a frost storm, icing up all of her clothes and hair and face. And popping all of her water balloons.

What.
The thing was, she was a selkie, for gods sake, and she was used to swimming in the coldest waters ever since she was a little seal pup. Frost and water didn't faze her much, but the sudden attack did, and Marzena gave both Gabby and the ghoul (she had asked it of him after all) a glowering look.
Oh, she was absolutely pissed. He had ruined her work of carefully filling up all those balloons. And all because some little ghoul couldn't take a water balloon being tossed at her feet, what kind of a halloweener was she, really--
She did not say anything.
But a dark glare was fixated on them both as she slowly bent down and picked up a bucket full of water-- if Gabby thought she only had water balloons for ammo, he was sorely wrong; she was always prepared-- and threw it...
...Right at Shine.
"You know I'm a selkie, right." She said in a deadpan tone.

The bucket of water came right for him (or so he thought). He'd been throwing buckets of ice water over people all day long, and yet he wasn't going to let Marzena show him up on the one thing he thought he could do well (which was getting people wet.) His hand, still at the level of his mouth, rose up to the water, which froze all around his hand. It turned into a giant, spiky glove, covering his hand in a lumpy mess that had come narrowly close to piercing Shine with the tips of the water. He dropped his hand down, still covered in a giant ice glove thing. "And you know I'm an ice dragon, right?" He growled, clearly put out by the fact that he was now wearing a super ugly ice glove. "I would love to continue this riveting chat with you further, but if you haven't noticed, we're starting to cause a scene, and I've been to detention, I'd rather not go back. Maybe you and I can go have it out later in private." His smile returned, if only because he thought the idea of fighting with Marzena sounded a lot more fun than it probably should have.

"I tried." Marzena said dismissively, as a few little seals popped their heads out of the cauldron to see what was going on. She had almost caught him off guard though. It came so close. So very close, and really, that was an accomplishment of itself.
She wouldn't have minded dragging this out and landing Gabby in detention (Marzena did not care a rat's a** if she had to risk herself as well; she had been to worse places), but she did not intend to abandon a cauldron full of seal minipets entirely.
"I will look forward to that rematch then." She said, giving him a cold smile, and raising an eyebrow at the ghoul he had seemed so protective of.
"Watch out, kiddo~" Marzena called out in a sing-song voice.
"The big strong ice dragon can't watch your back forever~"
She never forgot anyone who had incurred her wrath. People could call it petty, but Marzena called it looking out for herself.

A happy little gurgle emerged from a tear-stained Shine as Gabby really did as he had offered to her. The gentle splintering sound that the balloons made before bursting this time was much better than the first pop, and she seemed entirely satisfied by this turn of events until Marzena moved to throw a bucket of water on her. The flinch was instinctive this time, and it took her a while to open her eyes, expression heavily crossed with confusion when she found that she wasn't drenched in water. When her gaze followed Gabby's arm and she discovered that he was the reason that she'd managed to avoid it, she launched herself to hug him tightly around one arm, and gave a heavy frown to the ghoul across the booth. "Big...big and strong ice dragons can do anything," she grumbled, sure of this fact.

"Oh, you little coward." Marzena said with a derisive laugh. She had no ounce of respect whatsoever for Shine, not when the ghoul had relied on someone else to get 'revenge' for such a petty little thing that Marzena had already warned her of beforehand. "I know he can't be your shadow forever. And I'll be waiting. I'm a patient person when it comes to these things."
With that, the selkie disappeared momentarily behind her booth to stock up on water balloons.
((If you're reading this and want to play the booth, take it that Marzena's already back with water balloons! She also seems sort of wet, but it's best not to ask, since she seems... to have a malevolent spark in her eye....... ))

The Roc peeked into the booth. No sign of the ghoul, he thought. he snuck over to the cauldron and watches the seals again. Finally he stuck his hand in quickly, three times in a row. Out came three sealed evils. "Aren't you guys cute? And tasty looking?" he asked. And then realized he was hungry. he hurriedly stuck a lollipop he'd picked up from another booth in his mouth before he actually thought of trying to eat the things. Oh. There was a booth composed of simply seals. Maple decided to try her hand at fishing for them.
And didn't do too badly. But then realized she was rather full on her ticket winnings for the day.

Marzena didn't seem grumpier, in fact it seemed as though she was smiling more... though it certainly was not a smile that could be deemed as comforting...
(Marzena just really liked planning revenge.
