Making Tea!

Ryou tested using green tea this time and a jasmine flower. He didn't know why putting in a flower would make the tea any better but since tea was just leaves and water anyway, a flower would make it prettier, right? He then poured it into a light blue tea cup and got an orange dolly with the A on it.

However, there must have been something that he had done wrong with the tea because it turned out tasting vaguely like sewer water. Awks.

Making Tea!

Back again, tonight Lusine decided to try the rose hip tea. To it she added some mint and set it to brew. She picked out a pretty green teacup, her favorite color, with yellow flowers, and the white doily again.

She tried to watch the tea carefully to make sure it she was doing it right.

"Ready for Tasting!"

Success! Sort of. Tonight's brew was drinkable, and even tasted pretty good. She felt that it was the best cup she'd made so far! She waved to the nice ghoul running the booth to show her how she'd improved.

Had Mia known creole were mistaking doilies for napkins, she... might have had a fit, on a regular day. But this was a special occasion, and she had to make a good impression, which meant she couldn't be as stingy as usual.
She smiled at the two boils, encouraging them to try again later, because practice made perfect, a point that was proven by a ghoul who seemed to have trouble with it before.

"You're improving! Goes to show you can do it if you put your mind to it."

Making Tea!

Something about this booth simply called out to the Shrinking Violet persona in Ruth. It was dainty, it was delicate, it was something that a connoisseur would deign worthy of their time and attention. Ruth inwardly thought it was all ridiculous and unnecessarily tedious but as the Shrinking Violet would love, she was forced to participate.

She chose everything at random, making snap decisions at the first go while pretending she was taking her time and carefully studying every little decision. Ruth was rolling her eyes behind her blonde bangs but was outwardly looking pleased and delighted by everything the booth had to offer.

In the end, the ghoul chose to use white tea, and some chocolate (definitely Ruth's choice because she was going to drink this thing so it might as well have something she liked). There were no gray cups or white cups or black cups, which was why the blue cup, being the first thing she laid her hair-hidden eyes on, was the one she picked. At least the doily had a color she liked, and the white doily was selected.

Ruth realized that she preferred coffee over tea if staying awake its purpose. Even though she'd picked one of the booth-owner's favorite designs, the tea itself? Apparently too bitter for their taste, though Ruth herself found she didn't mind it. She would have preferred something blander though.

Making Tea!
Pleased with his tea results yesterday, Judas decided to return. This time he would do something different, and see if it was still good. He was experimenting, learning. At least that's what he told himself. The tea leaves he used this time looked a bit different, but he still added chocolate because, hey you always need chocolate. He couldn't find the green teacups from yesterdays so he grabbed some purple ones decorated with what he called swirlies and a matching doily. The teacup had enough swirlies, he just hoped the bit of cloth under it matched well, instead of being too much purple.
Patiently he waited on his tea to brew, but tapped at the table. He had no idea how long it was supposed to be in that pot.

When he guess-timated the tea had been on long enough he carefully poured out three cups. He nervously arranged them in a line and waited for his work to be tasted. Picking up the last mug in line he sipped at it himself. He didn't think it tasted too bad, but who knows, he hadn't tried to make or drink tea before yesterday.
"How did I do?"

Mia vaguely remembered Ruth, and greeted the fellow reaper with a smile. She couldn't help but make a face though, when the ghoul started adding chocolate to her tea. She was going to have to talk to Marcy about the kind of condiments they made available.
Still, even though the tea didn't come out as she would have expected, Mia thanked her for dropping by, and encouraged her to try again later.

To another, she actually let out a sigh (apparently chocolate was really popular), but the tea ended up tasting decent. Perhaps Marcy knew what she was doing. At least, more than her.
"Not bad." She smiled. "Perhaps boiling it a tad longer will give it more flavour, but you did well."

He heard that sigh and it said disappointment. The ghoul's words contrasted a bit with it though. Not bad? Was the time it boiled really that significant? he took another sip of his cup to taste it again.
"Was there anything more than boiling?" Judas asked, "I... I've actually never made tea before."
He wondered if revealing his clueless-ness was a good idea. It might make him look un-cool, less desirable. He really wanted to get the hang of this because he was sure it would be useful later, it might impress someone he wanted to flirt into dating him.

Hopefully that someone wasn't her. Mia was done with the whole dating and relationship thing, thanks to a certain boil.
At least, his eagerness to learn left a good impression with her, as she was always more than happy to show off what she learned (or really, just... showing off).

"There is! And no worries. To be honest, Marcy's more of the expert, but I do know a thing or two about making tea."
Her familiar only sighed. At least she was enjoying herself.
"As you may know, you need to boil the tea long enough so that the flavour from the tea leaves goes into the water. If you don't boil it long enough, it'll taste like water. Boil too long, and your tea will have too much flavour, and while sometimes it can be a good thing, in the case of tea, it can make it bitter.
There's also accents, which is, as its name suggests, adds a hint of flavour to your tea, which can compliment it. While it's common to add something similar to your tea blend, contrasts can also spark some new interesting flavours. It's all about knowing which goes with which, and balance.

And the last part..."

She gave a knowing smile.
"While the type of teacup and colour you use won't directly affect the taste, colour contrast and mood can also affect the outcome. For example, for black and oolong, you would choose a bold strong colour, to match its equally strong taste, and for milder, soothing tea, softer colours and delicate accents would be the way to go."

Not at all!
I am... sorry for the essay LOL
(I actually have no idea what I'm typing)

Judas was pretty sure he looked a bit confused. "So they all boil the same amount of time? And chocolate is not good on everything?" He would ask about how colors and moods later, because he was pretty sure he could get by with alternating black, white, brown, and cream. Those colors he could handle, but his idea of 'spice' would have been to add red polka-dots or stripes.

He had failed quite epically last time, so Ryou decided to give it one last shot with the green tea. This time he added some mint. Green + green = good right? All started with Gs, makes perfect sense. He then poured it into a light blue cup and served it with a lavender dolly. Hopefully, the cool color scheme would help him some.
