Lily Lily nodded in agreement with Ren's words. "She was one of my closest friends here in the Re," she said. "Essy and I both liked her a lot. Essy even asked her to join in some of her 'games'. We need to check this out before jumping to conclusions. It could be some kind of coincidence." She took her mother's hand and lead her out of the room, taking her to Morrigan's. [Exit]

It had been about two years now and he found that a bit strange, for some reason. Two years since the disaster of a battle. Two years since he'd shown up here. Two years since he'd fallen in love with Lily, the new leader of the Re. Two years since Ren's final death. Two years since the attack that had left the slave, Dev, alone, lost the Re one of their best generals, and left Esabel even more unpredictable and unstable than usual. Even now, as Nalyne laid in the bed he shared with Lily, holding her as she slept, he could hardly believe it had all really happened. It had taken him a full year to get the blocks in place in Dev's mind to allow them to wake him again. Even now, though, he still had to stay in Lily's spare room. Nalyne had to be the one to tame the shifters cats, with Lily healing Dev after each session. But things weren't getting better for the slave. They were getting worse... The length of time between sessions was getting shorter, the duration of the sessions was getting longer. Too much more of it going on like this and he worried about having to discuss with Lily the possibility that they might have to kill the slave. Truthfully, though, Nalyne just knew that Dev really just needed what had been taken away from him: A master, someone to claim him... Unfortunately, there weren't any takers in the foreseeable future... But how was he going to explain it to Lily? And what were they going to do about Esabel? She was getting more and more unstable as time passed...

Lily Lily was enjoying the sensation of being in her lover's arms. She had woken up quite a while ago, but she didn't want to have to get up. Nalyne always helped her to feel better when she was down. She knew things were bad with Dev. Even if Nalyne didn't want to bring it up, she could tell how bad it was getting. She didn't want to have to lose Dev. He was special to her, even if she was with Nalyne now. But thinking about that made her think about losing her mother again. That was something that still hadn't gotten better. Losing her again so soon after getting her back had made things so much worse. The only thing that had balanced her back out afterward was Nalyne's presence. She shifted a bit to let him know she was awake and sighed softly. "I guess we have to get out of bed eventually, don't we?" she asked quietly.

Nalyne tightened his arms around her and held her even closer as he buried his face in her hair to inhale her scent, "Not yet, Princess... We can take as long as you need today," he whispered to her softly. It was his way of letting her know that Dev was safe for the day. He hated that he couldn't do more to help. But he knew that they couldn't keep things as they were for much longer. Dev kept trying to get them to claim him. But they weren't the right ones for him and knew it, just as Dev had known it that day in the Pillow Room. Who could they trust with him, though? Who could take the very rare Tiger on and keep him happy and safe? Nalyne thought it better to find someone to keep the shifter safe. Lily wanted to keep him happy. Together, they were trying. Unfortunately, the few people they had interviewed so far hadn't been the right fit. One or two, they'd had to keep Dev's Hellcat from killing the idiots... He pushed the thoughts away for now and let his hands move over her tempting curves slowly and enticingly, fully intent on distracting her from the proverbial pile of elephant crap they would have to deal with. He wanted to lose himself in her rather than have to tell her that the next session with Dev would likely kill him. He knew Dev was special to Lily. Hell, the tiger had become special to him as well. So how was he going to tell her?

Lily Lily closed her eyes and tightened her grip on him. "If you keep saying things like that, we won't leave the bed at all today," she said quietly. She sighed again and moved her head enough to look up at his face. "The only one who has ever been able to give Dev what he needs is Allistair. Even if he can't remember Allistair, there isn't anyone else who measures up to him. And while I do want him to have the best Master possible, I just wish it wasn't so hard to find the one for him." She blinked several times as a new idea began to form. "Nalyne, if we could find some way to bring Allistair's body back to life, would there be anything we could do to get his soul back?" It was obvious that she was starting to get a bit desperate, but she needed to try something different than just interviewing someone that she knew Dev wouldn't like. She needed to feel like she was actually trying something. But even if it was desperate, it was obvious that she had what was definitely an unusual idea.

Nalyne gave a soft sigh and knew that they were finally going to have this discussion. But she'd brought it up, so he knew that he would talk about it with her. He wouldn't lie or try to candy-coat any of it, knowing how much she appreciated his honesty with her. "The only one I know of that has the skill for what you're suggesting is Ilea. But even if she managed to find his soul and return it to his body, you'd still have the problem of Hal being gone. We might be able to bring one back, but not both. I know you're desperate for a solution, Lily, but we have to find one that is fair to him and gives him a real future," he explained softly, saying the words out loud for the first time since he'd woken the tiger up. "I hate to say it, Lily.... I've come to care about him too... But I'm not sure..." now that it was time to say it, he still found himself hesitating... Meanwhile, Dev was still sleeping off the last session with Nalyne. Lily had healed him afterwards, but his body was still sore and tired. The main problem, as far as he knew, was his newest tiger. The Hellcat took alot to wear down and yet was still not tamed. Even now, as he slept, he kept shifting around the bed in what used to be Dancer's room. Even as exhausted as he was, that particular cat was still restless... And he knew that his time was almost up. If they couldn't tame that cat, he knew what was in store for him...

Lily Lily closed her eyes and tightened her grip again. "There has to be something we can do," she said quietly. There was suddenly a loud bang as a stack of books on a nearby table fell over, causing Lily to jump a bit. She released her grip on Nalyne and sat up, looking down and seeing a book that had fallen near her side of the bed. She picked it up and examined it for a moment. She opened it and flipped through it, not understanding most of what was in it. But a few words caught her eye and gave her an idea. "If we can't have Allistair, maybe we can make someone of our own," she said. "When I've healed Dev, I've felt a tiny bit of Allistair in him. He told me a long time ago that Allistair gave him a piece of his soul. I'm guessing that even if he tried to take it back, he didn't take every bit of it. If we could find another soul that fits, we could fuse it into it. His demonic soul should override the human qualities, even if it's only a small piece of him. It wouldn't exactly be Allistair, but it would be someone similar. Obviously we would need Ilea for this plan, but I think it has potential. What do you think?" Lily was onto something interesting, a plan that could work. But there were questions that Lily didn't think to ask. What had caused the stack of books to fall over? And where had this book come from? They had checked the stack several times, so it was unlikely that they had missed it before.

Nalyne looked at the book over Lily's shoulder and had to admit that she was right. He knew that that particular book hadn't been there before and did wonder where it had come from, but knew that he couldn't question it right now. It would have to wait a bit, after they discussed what it was giving them: A chance... "We'll need Ilea for it for certain. Her necromancy is only rivaled by my brother, who is very thankfully dead. But I think we should get the body prepared for her first. We can use Gin's lab for it. That will keep everything contained in case it doesn't work. I think he had a secure room in there too that could hold Dev if we need to, until we see if this will work," he said softly to her. He knew that he had to voice caution as well as hope. That way, his Lily would be prepared for whatever happened.

Lily "Then let's get everything set up," Lily said. "Send a few people to go get Allistair's body. You and I can get Dev and head to my father's lab. We can get everything ready in there." She pulled on a robe and moved over to the door. She opened it and looked at the guard standing watch. "Go inform everyone that we need to step up our search for Ilea. Get the teams ready, and inform them all that the bounty for her safe return will be doubled if they can manage to get her here before tomorrow. And send someone to get Esabel and have her meet Nalyne and I in my father's lab as quickly as possible." She closed the door and turned to look at Nalyne again. "I suppose we should get dressed. We have work to do." She seemed so much more lively now than she had a few minutes before. She knew that this plan could fail. Hell, it probably had pretty high chances of failing. But having any sort of plan gave her enough hope to get moving.

Nalyne gave a simple nod and got up as she issued her orders then turned back to him. He could never resist that look on her face and didn't bother to try to this time. He simply walked up to her and cupped her face as he leaned in to kiss her very thoroughly. He only pulled back when she made a whimper for him and grinned at her, "Now we can get ready..." he said simply and moved to get dressed. He dearly loved teasing her like that, knowing that she'd be thinking about him all day because of it then would tackle him at her first opportunity. It certainly kept things interesting for them. He moved out of the room while she dressed, knowing that they wouldn't be leaving it if he stayed to watch. So he was in the sitting area when the guard returned with bad news about Esabel then ran, leaving Nalyne to give the bad news to Lily...

Lily Before Lily had a chance to say anything else, Nalyne was grabbing her and kissing her in a way that made her forget everything else. She returned the kiss and kept it going as long as possible, until he finally released her. She watched him move away to get dressed and then got dressed after he left her alone, mumbling about how he was a tease and an a** the whole time. Once she finished getting dressed, she went to the sitting area in time to see the guard running off. "What was that about?" she asked.

Nalyne gave a heavy sigh as she asked that question. He really didn't want to answer it but knew he had to. So he looked right into her eyes and ripped the proverbial band aid off. "Esabel is gone. She's either wandered off for a bit or..." here he did hesitate for a moment before forcing himself to continue, "It looks like she was taken... One of the slaves saw it and said it was Gurzil's pet lackey," he finished softly. They'd spoken about the insane demon several times, about the danger he posed to the Sandman base and to themselves. They'd also spoken about a truce with the Sandman alliance when Lily found out that Alice's twins were still alive. The twins were family to her, cousins after Ren had adopted Lily. But the decision to open up negotiations on the truce was up to Lily. He'd kept himself as her advisor rather than a co-leader, something she'd thanked him for a time or two.

Lily Lily listened to the news and simply took a deep breath. "There's always something," she stated. "Time to make a decision, then. Normally, I would have a guard send a message, but there's no time for that. I need you to send a message directly to Ash. Tell him that it's time to negotiate a truce and ask him to meet me somewhere we won't be disturbed. Tell him it's urgent and I need his answer as quickly as possible." Lily seemed calm, but there were a few signs around the room to show that she was enraged. All of the lights had gotten significantly brighter and seemed to have a slightly red color to them. And not only were these reddish lights extremely bright, but they seemed to be putting off quite a bit of heat, causing the temperature in the room to rise quickly.

Nalyne gave a simple nod then moved to take her in his arms, pressing a light kiss to her hair. After a moment of simply holding her, he pulled back and lifted her chin to look into her eyes, "I'll send the message after we take care of Dev. But you need to calm down first, my love. He'll react to your anger and push for what you can't give him. He's done it before," he said softly to her and placed a light kiss to her lips. That hadn't been an easy session with Dev. It had also frightened Lily so they'd been very careful with their tempers ever since. "We'll get Esabel back. Trust in that, Princess," he added, softly reminding her that Esabel was going to come back and be the usual nutcase that they loved so dearly. "I need you calm before I pull Dev out of his room," was his reminder of what they needed to do now.

NPC A guard knocked slowly on the frame of the door. Once he was allowed entrance. He advanced towards the pair, with his head down. Then came to a stop about four feet away, where he dropped to a kneeling position. " My Lady, there is a man in the Entrance hall. He claims to have a bounty for you.", After that he waited to be dismissed, and then got out of harms way.
