Aiden was seeing stars. Pretty much, his life was nothing but a fussy, blurry effect with a ringing sound audible through his ear drums. His eyes were half open, but only enough to see what was a distorted image of the clouds in the sky and the glint of the sunlight. Relative to a movie in slow motion, Aiden looked from his peripherals to see fans shouting and holding their breath at what could be the ultimate upset for the aerialist. Aiden barely felt his leg being hooked until his eyes peered down slowly to see Jake covering him for the pin. One! It was like an echo. Each syllable being spoken slowly and near-hauntingly. Two! Repeat the process yet again. Aiden's mentality didn't set in that he was about to lose the match until he saw the refs arm raise up, then come back down for the third slap of the mat. However, something had to give. Putting everything he had into this, Aiden gritted his teeth and shot his right arm up to break the contact from his shoulders and the mat. Interrupting the pin count and squashing it in some act of a miracle.

The crowd was as bewildered as Jake was once Aiden found the last-second effort to raise his arm in the air. Nobody kicked out of the Empire Strikes Back. But in the grand scheme of things, Aiden would rather lose his head than kick-out while still conscious, and Jake would happily oblige. Roman grabbed the ref by the shirt and asked him with a concerned expression, "It was three, right? Why isn't my music playing? It was three!" The ref shook his head, confirming the efforts of Aiden Covell had surpassed those of the Kid's. The twenty-one year old was pissed off, his temper only one character flaw of his many. Roman, clenching his teeth together in a frustrated state, went to mount Covell and plant his right forearm into the side of his head half a dozen times.

Miraculously to even Aiden himself, he managed to get that very arm up to break the pin count. The same arm that had been lifted, easily fell right back to his side as Aiden maintained his lain position on the mat groggily. For a moment, Aiden thought that perhaps now that he still had something left to give, he could roll out of the ring or something and regain his bearings. But Jake on the other hand, had nothing of it. Taking the fight right on top of Aiden, Aiden's face was rocked from left to right with punishing blows. Impacting the side of his head, his cheeks, the side of his forehead, and his jaw. Hardly having enough strength to even put his arms up, Aiden barely blocked any of the blows he was given. If it were a percentage out of one-hundred, Jake would have easily connected with ninety of them.

Preserving the sanctity of this sport and showing mat gamesmanship wasn't important to Jake anymore. He was in a blind rage from not being able to end this match on his own terms. After getting to his own feet, Roman went to quickly lift Aiden to his feet by the arm and irish whip him into the ropes behind him. If he could catch Aiden off, Jake would squat down and try to behead him once more with a Swiss Death!

His face was being bruised in endless shots that felt like an eternity of pain. Aiden was practically defenseless and had ended up with a busted lip and multiple sections of both black and blue strewn about his face. Clearly not a display of 'open fist fighting', Jake's intentions to truly beat Aiden down were clear as day. Not even getting a chance to breathe, Aiden's legs were wobbly as he was stood upright from help by Jake aggressively standing the aerialist up. Being irish whipped across the ring, Aiden ricocheted off the roped just to find himself being lifted and suspended in air. Almost as if he were flying without any forward or backwards motion. Simply an upward ascent, then a downwards decent. The downwards decent however, would not be comfortable as Aiden was susceptible to Jake's uppercut which caught him under the jaw and flipped him in midair. Only to crash land on his stomach and chest, once again without quickness in his limbs or signs of motion.

The rookie with the current advantage then looked to the camera, crossed his forearms with flat hands over his chest, and threw them down quickly to signal that this was the end of Aiden. He was done for. It was over. Everybody who paid to see just this match could go home happy and possibly make money if they were as confident as Jake was. Roman looked to pick him up again in the same fashion, however, just to make sure. He went to shove his shoulder into Aiden's stomach and drive towards the corner to trap his opponent right where he wanted him.

Hardly keeping up the pace with what was going on around him, Aiden wasn't fully aware that Jake was building up an impressive offense. It wasn't until he was picked up and shoved in the corner with his body barely standing up that Aiden realized he most likely couldn't endure another pin attempt. Maybe, just maybe he could if he really tried. But two pin attempts, knowing Jake's strength and offense scheme? Absolutely not. Thus, the only thing keeping Aiden standing up was his arms draped over both adjacent top ropes while his back was arched forward and head dipping down as he heaved and breathed heavily from the wear and tear put on him.

A flustered and clearly upset Jake went to push his adversary's head down and meet his temple with a high knee every time he could force Aiden to hunch over even further. If he could succeed with his cold-blooded attempts, the next move would be to go to raise Aiden's head and clock him once more with a barrage of forearms to the face with his right arm, while holding his adversary's chin up with his left. He wanted Aiden exactly in the position he was in.

What was once just a bloody lip and random bruising, now became distinct bruising and a face of a battered male. That male being Aiden who now had the look as if he went eight rounds with Rocky Balboa. His lip was busted open, his cheeks were starting to bleed from cuts made from Jake's strikes. Lucky his nose wasn't broken, but it still bled from the bridge of his nose having a horizontal cut due to an elbow to the nose. From knee strikes to forearm shots, it would appear as if Aiden was losing the will to compete. Enough that the ref was overlooking the aerialist much more closely just in case Aiden would pass out. However, Aiden was still standing. For how long, Aiden didn't know. But he was still standing.

Perhaps the point of time when Jake hit the Empire Strikes Back, Aiden didn't exceed his pain tolerance. He felt so close to taking Covell past his limit and doing it with a finisher wasn't necessary as long as he brought Aiden to the point of miserable defeat. So a hobbled Jake attempted to lift the aerialist onto the top rope, and if he wasn't interrupted, he was willing to take the risk of a superplex as long as it discouraged Aiden from getting back up. Because Jake knew damn well there were times in this match he had felt he wouldn't emerge from this victorious, and he needed to make Aiden feel those same emotions to a higher extent in order to keep things in his favor. How could Covell handle under real pressure?

Curling his arms around the top rope, Aiden was getting weaker and weaker by the end of the match. His face was pretty much pummeled. His legs were shaky. His face was speckled with sand mixed with blood which tried to dry. Aiden was pretty much feeling the effects of what it was like to be jumped and beat the s**t out of, just by one man alone. Up to the top turnbuckle Aiden was placed after his arms were loosened from their coil around the ropes. Aiden's body doubled forward and torso breathing in and out deeply on display to everyone watching the match. He wasn't in the air for long when Jake had picked him up and over his head, but the impact of Jake taking him down to the mat and his back slamming off the canvas wasn't an enjoyable feeling. As a matter of fact, it rendered Aiden gritting his teeth yet again and rolling onto his back to protect it from being targeted again.

The back of Jake's torso stung as well. He had to risk it to get the biscuit, after all. But he couldn't address the mounting about of pain his body has gone through, he just had to put his fellow competitor away to show once and for all how superior of an athlete he was, and how twenty years of staying focused on one goal would serve him personal justice. Jake went to connect chests with Aiden, not bothering hooking the leg because the weight of his body on Aiden's recently tortured one would be enough.
One!
Two!

If there was ever a time in which Aiden could dig deep inside of him to gather a second wind, now would be the time. Not only that, but Aiden was in a position where each minute that went by in the match felt like hours. The heat exhaustion was taking effect and the feeling of his skin felt like it was on fire. The sunscreen could only protect the skin for so long. But for the extent of being out in the direct sunlight shirtless with just his waist-downward covered, Aiden was feeling the heat. Jake had once again went for a cover, and Aiden once again heard the sounds of echos. One! Time started to go by slowly as Aiden had blinked and squinted his eyes at the random pangs of soreness that throbbed. Two! Aiden had to understand that if he didn't put away the match now, if he didn't let Jake win, he'd probably pass out. The more damage he would take, the more his body would try to go into immediate 'sleep mode' to recover. He felt like letting Jake win, but AJ would have never forgave him if he did. Thus, as the refs hand was nearly two inches away from the mat, Aiden kicked out with both his legs miraculously.

Aiden's encouraging display of heart made the fans feel for him. This was a man who refused to give up, who seemed to understand pain was temporary but legacies were forever. How would he cement his? He wouldn't. Jake angrily slapped the mat in an absolute tantrum, the fans starting to feel less and less empathetic for the big man. Roman slid out from under the bottom rope nearby and dug under the ring for a weapon, which would turn out to be a steel chair. The same weapon that Aiden used to smash his shoulder in and help exploit Jake's disadvantage for the second and third match, both resulting in wins for the calculated aerialist. Jake slid back into the ring with his weapon in hand, and stood up at a moderate pace, hitting the top of the chair on to the mat in a rhythm. "GET UP!! LET'S END THIS, AIDEN. STAND THE ******** UP!"

The moment Aiden had kicked out of that pinfall, he wasn't aware of what he had done. Not until Jake had started to get pissed and slap the mat near Aiden would Aiden truly understand. He had endured punishment from the start of the match, all the way to the near finishes. He had endured what might be one hell of a sunburn and a handful of bruises and cuts. The blood on his face had fully dried up, but the sweat and sand that had stuck on his face ran down into his cuts and made them sting incredibly. Right now, was Aiden's last chance at trying to make a last ditch effort to win. Right now was Aiden's last chance he would have to put a staple upon his offensive and defensive onslaught throughout the match. For a few minutes, Aiden didn't even see Jake in the ring, Aiden thinking the guy was going to set up for some aerial move out of his peripheral vision. But that wasn't the case. Not only did Jake come back in the ring, but he came back with a chair and slammed it on the ground. Shouting, slamming the chair more and waiting for Aiden to get up, Aiden had put every last ditch effort and strength he had into trying to come up with a plan of attack how to make this last ditch effort worthwhile. But to do that, he'd have to get up first. Which he did manage to do, but not in any fast or non-sluggish way possible.
