She looked at him for a moment. "Politics are going to be a big part of your life in the future, being the king and all. It won't be as difficult as your books will make it seem and most of it will be learned along the way. Though you will never be without someone to look to for help."

"Now, which weapon would you like to begin with?" She moved so he could get a clear view of his choices, bows, knives, swords, kunai, shuriken, nun chucks, and a few other options like spears and double edge swords and the like.

"Very well." She said in a slightly irritated voice.

"Ok, first off let me see your stance for throwing." She paused ad waited for him to take a stance. "First lesson, proper stance." She kicked his feet apart and turned his shoulders. "Feet shoulder width apart. Now throw with your whole body and you should hit where you want. We are going to practice until you can hit the center every time. Then we'll start with bow and arrow training."

After three or four hours of trying and a lot of missing Ritic had finally started to hit the center each time he threw. "Let's take a break and let your arms relax. Twenty minutes then get back here."

She left him to do whatever for the next twenty minutes to let Kassandra know how he was doing his first day.

After not finding Kassandra in any of her usual places, Ephira headed back to the training room. Much to her surprise she found Ritic shooting arrows and hitting every new arrow straight through the previous arrow.

"Well I see how well you can take direction." She couldn't help but smile as he jumped and turned toward her looking like a small child who got caught sneaking sweets before dinner. "I believe I told you twenty minutes of resting and then we would begin with arrow shooting." She stood just inside the door with her arms crossed.

She took her bow and one arrow from her back and let it fly. It went completely through the target and had stuck into the wall on the opposite side of the room. "Now I can see you need little to no training on these, but if you would like to know how to do that," she gestured toward the hole in the target, "Every time you shoot I would be more than happy to teach you. But we are here to learn new things today, in a few days or weeks we will move to sharpening all your skills."

She picked up a batch of kunai and started to chuck them at the wall. They formed a series of shapes. After a moment of pulling them free she handed them to Ritic. "I want you to copy my shapes. The key to throwing kunai is to hold them as loosely as possible and to throw them as hard as you can." She demonstrated once or twice more before letting him start. "Please begin."

Ephira watched as he grew more and more frustrated, she remembered those feelings. "How am I to teach you if you do nothing but get angry? It's not as hard as you are making it out to be." She took a kunai from the table and threw it straight into one of her previous holes. "Just try to find a place in your mind where it isn't mad at your failures, but one that is more in time with feelings of serenity. As cliché as that sounds it will help you improve."

She went and pulled the tiny knife from the wall and handed it to him. "You'll make this one." She smiled at him, she remembered showing her sister before they moved here as a safety net for when she wasn't around to help her in a sticky situation. She had also started off getting angry every time she missed. It had always made Ephira smile, mainly because she tried so hard and all sh needed to do was relax a little bit.

She nodded, "And yet you have finally hit one of my marks."

She patted his shoulder. "You have so much potential, sore muscles are what happens when you try your hardest at what you want to be better at. I would be very proud of myself if I were you. You think I'm so good? I am three hundred and thirty nine years old. It took me at least twenty years to get half as good as you are after only a few hours."
