Hesper had gotten to the hatching promptly, but had taken a spot near the back of the group of candidates. She was not as well put together as she would have liked, there was a dusting of flour in her hair and her hands, while clean, were stained with redfruit juice. None of that seemed to matter, since it was pouring rain.

She stood at the back while the gold impressed, followed by a brown and a green. There were several dragons on the sands, though some of them seemed restless as did the older dragons. It must be the weather. The weather was absolutely wretched - there was nothing about it to like. It had the effect of dampening some of Hesper's excitement.

Jemi froze and glared daggers at the Silver Blue. If that hatching dare touched her partner she would destroy it with out mercy. Keep your mouth shut, you ornery little blue. She huffed, looking over the pair of greens, the bronze, and then to the rocking egg and then back to the blue.

This was rather alarming. Wen stepped back slightly, so he wasn't staring crosseyed down the muzzle of the blue dragon. "Hello," he said quietly, looking at the expanse of blue hide over the nose instead of focusing on how many teeth it had. Which was quite a few.

The Frosted Green made her way over to the candidates, pushing her way through them, then, she turned and did it again. She scratched at Elsi, then Roc, and at Anri. Huh. They weren't playing with her! She gave a playful growl, bouncing in front of the sisters, and then in front of Roc.

Yay! Life!

Elsi to Anri

She hadn't been expecting it. The green moved so quickly that Elsi didn't have time to rush forward to protect her. Instead the younger girl was knocked to the ground, Elsi's hand still tightly wound into hers. Elsi was dragged down, her face hitting wet sand as the lightning screamed above them and the rain pounded her back.

"Anri!" Elsi screeched, her hold on the girl's hand still tight as she tried to drag herself upright. "Anri, are you alright??"

She put her arm around the crying girl, trying to shield her from the rain, the dragons, the world. When another dragon made her appearance and pawed restlessly at them, she tried to put herself between the dragon and Anri to protect her from further damage. However, the green's scratches were heedless of their cowering, digging furrows into their legs. "NO!"Elsi screamed, hoping to deter the dragon from further injuring them.

-----
Fiolen to Naressa

He nodded dumbly to Naressa's words, eyes wide as dragons were suddenly everywhere! They were pairing off with great speed, and he could hardly keep track of them any more.

With a dragon once again amongst the females Mairin's attention switched to the dragonet in question. There was no one on the boy's side she was deeply concerned about so it was fine to focus on the little green who was attempting to engage them in a bit of play. There was shallow puddle that had formed nearby, if the green came close Mairin felt it'd be safe to give that one a friendly splash. For now she was just observing her and the trio of girls the hatchling seemed centered on.

Kaimi

Oh, was that another egg hidden under the sands? Was this something that happened often? Kaimi could not recall having heard about hidden eggs before, and she found herself wondering if the queen had buried the two eggs deliberately. It wasn't as if they could have buried themselves, after all. So who would have done it? But her thought process was interrupted as the Frosted green cavorted into the crowd of girls. Would that one finally calm down enough to impress? It seemed as if none of the dragons on the sands seemed particularly interested in bonding with a candidate.

He gave a wet snort at Wen’s comment. Was that all he had to say?! The blue shoved his head into the boy’s belly to knock him out of the way. Not this one either his actions clearly said, though he didn’t try to lay fang or claw to Wen. He turned his head back to the girls side. Was he ever going to make up his mind?

Rusted Egg finally gave a soft crack as it gently split open. Another green emerged slowly from behind Ocean Egg. She stopped with a foreleg lifted from the sands as she took in those on the sands. Oh my. There was so many here. She ducked her head shyly. What was she suppose to do now? A soft, barely audible, chirp was directed at her Frosted green sister.

R'yn to Tic and Tiry

"Fiesty bunch, isn't it?" R'yn commented, slipping his arm around Ticene's waist. He smirked playfully, ruffling Tiry's hair with his free hand. "I don't envy the Weyrlingmaster. He's going to have his arms full with these. Look Tiry! There's a bronze, like Daddy has!" He removed his hand, reluctantly from the toddler's black mane to point. This way, he could distract his daughter from the green playing rough. He didn't want to instill a fear of dragons into his daughter. "See Hyweth? I bet she's the most wet of all of the dragons hear." He grinned. What a difference this hatching was to the last!

He still remembered the one before that, where it had been in the middle of the night. This one didn't look altogether different, for all that it was middasy! The clouds saw to that. He gave his Weyrmate a squeeze. "Think Joleen's alright down there?"

Apart from all of the other eggs there was a conspicuous sand shaped lump. Considering how many hidden eggs there had been already, it should be no surprise to the candidates when the suspicious lump exploded with great urgency, as if the creature had been fighting beneath the sand, as packed and wet as it was.

The blue was not small by any means, rivaling a small brown and pale in color save for a few stark markings on his face, limbs and wings. Though his color was not the most interesting thing about him. No, it was how almost.. avian he looked, even more gangly than many of his siblings. However his eyes were sharp and intelligent, and currently burning flashes of fiery red with lightning bolts of yellow shooting across them as if to mimic the angry sky above.

Who had done this? Who decided to bury his egg and half drown him?? Someone would PAY for such transgressions! His heaving sides contracted to emit an angry screech, showing off his row of pointed baby dragon teeth at the candidates. His head swung to and fro, flaring his impressive wingspan as he stalked the remaining candidates.

But within two or three steps, his ire was seemingly forgotten. He could see no guilt in any of their eyes! Perhaps none of them had done it after all. Confused, he stood stark still save for his head, which he held high and swiveled between the male and female candidates. Worrying hues of yellow and white touched his facets. Where? Where was his? Were they here? Was their mind open and waiting for him?

It was with great pleasure that the newly bonded pair watched the Wicked green find hers. Yes, this is what was meant to happen. The young one had just been distressed and was in need of reassurance, and nothing more greater than your very own lifemate to get the job done. The pair was so glad that S'aen even turned to Becka in order to congratulate her, and hoped that the little green would heal up well.

S'aen had fed Jaecath until he seemed resistant to eat more, and once he wiped down his hands and the brown's muzzle (what? he was used to taking care of younger siblings!) the two of them sat quietly, merely soaking in each other's presence. This feeling, it was incredible - S'aen had never felt, well, so loved before. Was this what it was like to fall in love? To feel so completely and utterly tied to someone? It was something he never knew he was even missing. At the very instant of their Impression, he knew that he could and would never go back to the way he had felt before. There was no life without Jaecath, but rather, life was Jaecath.

Mind caught in a fog, his eyes followed the other hatchlings as if on autopilot, but came back to focus as some of them had decided to become physical. The dark haired boy felt his shoulders stiffen, and he looked to the brown, puzzled. "Why are your siblings so violent?" Oh, oops. Speaking out loud from reflex, he only paused for a moment before continuing, I heard hatchings can be dangerous, but these hatchlings seem particularly riled up.

He felt a mental shrug from the large brown, who was watching his newly hatched bronze sibling. Some of them are just like that, I suppose. But they are my siblings regardless, and I will make sure no harm comes to them. Jaecath rumbled, a pleasantly soothing sound. My bronze brother seems to be on task, though. I'm glad.

Wen folded easily, moving with the hatching to keep his wind from being knocked out of him. He took a few deep breaths before slowly standing up again and shook his head. The blue could have been a bit more polite about it.

Cai frowned at the newest hatchling, the oddly shaped blue. That did not bode well. So many eggs buried! Did the golds intend to kill some hatchlings that way? Such as the misshapen or those who wouldn't hatch? Or di they just not fear some candidate walking over the egg and crushing it during the touching? He furrowed his brow. Next clutch he would have a talk with the goldrider about dredging the sands. It didn't seem safe or right for eggs to be buried and have to fight harder for survival.

Anger knotted in the healers chest making him squeeze too hard on a candidate's bruised arm. "Hush." He scolded absently, adjusting the bandage he was applying. Other healers were tending to the wounded and hissing at candidates still on the sands who could walk to come backand get bandaged while they still could.

Jemi moved forward, eyes hard when Wen was pushed down. She stopped after two steps, watching her partner clamber up unharmed and settled back. She was still peeved, but Wen was fine. Babies, they were babies.

Back among the girls, Silver blue flipped his wings. He wanted something! The small male looked around. His eyes landed on Hesper. Slowly he stalked up to her and began eyeballing her with one eye then the other. He didn’t seem as though he intended to bite as he put his muzzle close to sniff deeply. What was he looking for?

Quiet as she was, Rusted didn’t draw much attention to herself. She looked at her fellow hatchlings. Some had riders and were being fed, others still walked the sands. Again she gave a soft chirp. How was she to do this? Her eyes whirled anxiously. She wanted to do this right for Hers. The green sat by Ocean. She was suppose to go to the candidates right, not Hers come to her? This was so confusing!
