Oh! So you filled it yourself! Sarad was glad he hadn't asked, it would have been really embarrassing if he had. he chose Sprite, which came out clear like water. if it weren't for the obvious bubbles, he'd never have guessed it was soda. a lid and straw later and he was good to go. "Sick?" they had, hadn't they? "not that i know of, i don't get sick often." but when he did, he got sick to the point of almost needing hospitalization. it was rare, though, so nothing to worry about. the last time he'd been sick was when he was twelve. "so i guess you are safe," Sarad knew Dale wasn't sick. he would have noticed symptoms if he was, "so do they bring the food out to you like other restaurants?" he asked as he spotted a small table off to the side that had two seats. he sat at one of the chairs and took a drink, "interesting-" the flavor was so different from Doctor Pepper it threw him a bit, but there was a lot more fizz in this one.

Sarad figeted with his cups slightly, "to be honest-" he glanced at Dale, but quickly looked away, "no. today is the first time i've had soda. well-that might not be true, i may have had some when i was little, but i have no memory of it so i don't think it would count." he shrugged a little, uncomfortable, "I-um, haven't been to a fast food place before, either. My Aunt and Uncle wouldn't stand for such things. i guess-i guess i was a bit spoiled growing up." there, he admitted it, but at least he wasn't rude about it like his cousins.

Sarad smiled and stood when Dale did, but he got the food before Sarad could help. "it comes in a box?" but Dale's was in paper. how odd.he opened it and found a sloppy mess, not really what the pictures had portrayed, but it smelled good. "so happy meals? i think i've heard of them, aren't they for kids?" he asked as he finally found a way to pick up his burger without slopping it everywhere. now to take a bite. he held it tightly and stretched out his mouth almost as far as he could before taking a small chunk from the burger. his eyes fluttered closed as he suddenly understood why people were willing to become hugely obese eating these. he carefully swallowed before wiping his mouth, "this is good-"

Sarad tried one of the fries and found he liked those too. He actually found her preferred them without ketchup rather than with it. the meal went like that, Sarad enjoying a bite of burger before having a fry or two and going back to the burger. sadly, the big mac didn't last as long as the fries and Sarad was left with a pile of them to finish off with his soda. "thank you, Dale. this-this has been exactly what i needed." he smiled at the other, really glad he'd made friends with his new roommate and that they had been made roommates at all. "Next time i'll-i get to pick, ok?" he almost said he was going to cook dinner for Dale, but he had to change it half way.

Sarad looked down, "My Aunt-" he sighed and leaned back in his chair, slumping down so his head rested on the back, his good posture gone for the first time in Dale's presence, "my Aunt said she is going to inform my Uncle Akash. he's-he's my primary caregiver, but since he is usually away with research, it was decided that my Aunt and her family would house me during the summertime. Growing up i was shuffled from one house to another, but my Aunt also lives closest to the school, so she made the most logical choice to be the one listed as my contact." Sarad opened his eyes to stare at the ceiling, "i've spend a few months with my Uncle total and they weren't pleasant months. If you think my Aunt is bad, my Uncle is far worse. he's excessively strict and stubborn. his punishments for failure are-harsh, those for disobedience more so..." he rubbed his eyes, only to discover his hands were shaking. "it's going to be bad," he said softly, "i'll be lucky if he only calls, he might even summon me to his home come Thanksgiving break. if he does-" now his voice was shaking, "if he does i might be a bit off for a while when i get back. it's-it's only fair to warn you now, so you are prepared."

Sarad glanced over when he heard Dale moving. the hand was warm and comforting. he shook his head and sat up, "No, it's ok. anything they say will only make things worse. this was my mistake and i must accept my punishment." he gave Dale a small smile, "if there is one thing i've become good at, it's accepting my punishments." he shrugged and gathered his garbage, "sorry, i've been acting a bit strange. let me take your trash too," he got Dale's and took them all to the garbage, breathing slowly to calm himself. Dale seemed good at breaking through the defences he'd placed or maybe his defences were weakened around Dale? it was something to think about. "ready to head back? or were there other things you wanted to do first?"

Sarad nodded, "i used to have one when i was a child, bu i grew out of it. I still remember how to ride, though." he walked with Dale out into the night air and shivered slightly. it was definitely getting colder and his silk shirt wasn't doing much to keep in the warmth. he knew that riding would warm him up, so he didn't worry about it too much. "i don't tend to need bikes since most of my classes are in the same building, i don't have to hurry from one to another." they reached the rack and he pulled out his card to pay for the rental, "you bought dinner, so it's my turn." he smiled and swiped the card, getting the keys for the chains of two bikes from the student working. "just riding around?"

Sarad groaned softly, "that won't be long-" he was never one for physical activity. Sarad lifted an eyebrow when Dale asked him what the brakes were, "i know perfectly well what they are, they're the 'stop' 'go' buttons." he smirked and pedaled forward, "see, go-" and hit the brakes, stopping himself, "stop." he started again and just leisurely rode down the trail, "it's getting dark, i don't think we'll be able to ride as much as you said." not that he minded, he wasn't looking forward to as hard of a ride as Dale had indicated.
