Maria continued to sniffle and tear quietly, letting Lucy comfort her best she could. The kendo captain tried to relax and take small breaths. Eventually the tengu managed to calm down, looking up to Lucy with her bright red eyes," Lucy... Your hair.... " She hesitantly reached and took one of the once-blonde's locks in her hand, gently letting it run through her fingers, even with her bound wrists. "L... Lumine...?"
She blinked and shook her head, burying it in her face into her palms. Her thoughts felt erratic, so much racing and tumbling over one another it was hard to stay on a single topic. So she came to a simply latent question,"Why do you smell different? Did you, change perfume? Its smells very good-" So good, it bothered her as a matter of fact.

A shower later, Noraneko came out feeling refreshened and renewed. She wore a t-shirt with the "Ar" in its periodic representative in its back, and a molecular diagram of it over her chest. Her pajama bottoms where plain black and she wore some slippers. As she walked down the hallway , Nora dried her hair.
"Hey, Yuuka! What'cha want for dinner?" the student ask, hanging the towel around her neck. "Is there anything left to put away? I feel much better after the shower."

"My hair..?" Lucy reached her hand up to touch Maria's lightly, as she played with a lock of her hair. "I don't know why I changed too... This didn't used to happen, only in the fights... And now..." Lucy sat back, reclining onto her rear and stared at the bit of floor between them. Her attention was torn away with Maria's comment, a light rosie color appearing on her cheeks.
"Ah, what an embarrassing thing to say! No, I didn't change it, I'm not actually wearing any right now, u-unless you're smelling a trace from yesterday...?" Lucy shifted slightly, looking towards the side. She didn't notice Maria's personal distress. "Even when you're normal, you still say weird things...!" She sat forward, pushing up to her feet and offered a hand out towards Maria. "C'mon, the floor isn't any place for a couple of cuties like us! Let's get you back in bed so you can rest... I'll stay by your side, okay, Maria?"

Yuuka was busy looking through the strange comic book and only partially heard Nora's question, and it didn't register that the teen was on her way to the bedroom either. Another page went by, and she mumbled to herself, "Honestly, the proportions these girls are drawn with are absurd..!"
"Ah--" She looked up from the book momentarily, turning towards Nora as she entered the room. "I hadn't thought of dinner, I suppose..." she then returned her attention, "And everything's put away... Say, Nora, what's with this... thing? And these glasses?" Yuuka held the glasses up with her other hand, eyes still glued to the book. "Are you holding them for someone? Miss Magdalene, perhaps? Though I don't recall her needing glasses... perhaps it's just a fashion statement."

"Are you sure?" Maira gulped a bit, feeling her throat catch a bit as Lucy offered her hand. She nodded and took the blue hair'd girls hand in her own bound palms, using her help to get up. Her new wings threw her balance off though , and she ended up swaying back and then forth in her attempt to stay on her feet. The motion did shift her momentum; forward, into Lucy's arms.
As her hands got pressed between the both of them, she was brought far too close to Lucy for comfort. The real Maria blushed while something else in her flinched with the closer than ever scent. As quick as she was in her arms, Maria pushed back, once more letting her wings' weight carry her back, till she bumped into Lucy's desk.
Immediately she brought her hands up and cupped them over her nose and mouth, her wings tensing while the black feathers that got lose from the whole gesticulation of trying to get up danced down to the floor.

Nora's face ran white then a bright red. She was lucky Yuuka was somehow interested in the book she had just found!
"Wh-what? " Great, Yuuka thought they were Lucy's," I dunno Magdalene, but they are Lucy's. She left them at the little group thing we had going in math , so I picked it up! Since it's break, well I haven't seen her. I haven't been able to give 'em back to her." The student took the towel from her neck and draped it over her arm. "Yeh! People are all up about wearing glasses just for the fun now! They aren't real, y'know, but they think it makes them look smart or somethin' like that! Y'know how Lucy's about following trends and what not."
Quite content with her cover up story Nora walked over waving a hand idly,"Didn't know you were ito reading stuff like that Yuuka! Why don't you go wash up or get ready for dinner? Unless you Really Wanna know how that dumb book ends, uh?" She laughed, taking the glasses from Yuuka, pretending to just be playing around with her.

"Positive!" Lucy smiled, grasping Maria's hand as she pulled her up, albiet somewhat aided by the girl's powerful wings. She didn't realize just how much they weighed poor Maria down, and was just was shocked as she was when she stumbled forward. Lucy reacted quickly, catching Maria's by the shoulders and bracing her with her body. She felt a little bit stronger now; she must be, if she's able to hold up both Maria and her wings so easily.
"Maria, are you okay--huh?" And just like that, the girl had torn herself away from Lucy's embrace. She had a strange look on her face, one Lucy couldn't discern the true nature of, but it made her feel awkward, like she had done something wrong. "W... What's wrong? Do my clothes smell? I thought you said I smelled good...?" She took a couple steps closer to Maria, though slightly more in the direction of the bed. "C-C'mon now, easy does it. Climb back in bed and I'll tuck you in, okay? Then, I'll see if Mrs. Kazuko has found out anything..."

Yuuka chuckled a laugh, "Lucy is Magdalene. That is her last name, silly Kitty. And didn't I just tell you? I washed already!" She smiled, closing the book. "Mh, this really isn't my thing. But maybe I should hang onto it; after all, I will surely see Lucy before you! I can return it to her on your behalf, I'm sure she'll be very pleased to have this back! And these as well," she said, snatching up the glasses back from Nora and tucking them into the center opening of her blouse, resting them in her cleavage.
"Now then, about dinner~" Yuuka turned to Nora with a smile, the book clasped behind her back. "How about a nice stir fry? Or did you have something else in mind~?"

"Ah O-okay--...." Maria shifted uneasily, her hands over her face still,"No you smell good- Really- Really good." Her wings twitched uneasily, but after a few minutes she somewhat relaxed and inched towards Lucy again, letting her guide her to the bed. The kendo captain sat hesitantly wiggling her hands in the bindings before conceding and letting the pseudo-celestial tuck her in.
"Ms. Kazuko? She is still around?" She tried to get comfortable and ignore Lucy's alluring scent. "Where is she? Did she leave?"

"Well that explains a thing or two," Noraneko muttered idly,"Hey, I am not Kitty! I am Nora." She however, stopped her complaining to blush more visibly, especially when she noticed was staring at the glasses in Yuuka's cleavage. "Ah no need Yuuka ! I am sure ... Lucy won't mind waiting a little more!" The student quickly said," She is careless and all that!"
And suddenly she realized it was all very pointless. Noraneko sighed and looked around awkwardly. The baseball player held her hand out, " Just, ... can I gave the glasses back please? I don't like using contacts to begin with , and ... I sort of need them..."

"No, she isn't here right now," Lucy said as she carefully tucked Maria into her bed, taking care not to put pressure on her wings. She didn't want to risk hurting them, as she wasn't quite sure exactly how they worked yet.
"Mrs. Kazuko left to go look for clues that might help us out, and maybe find a way to get you back to normal... She was really worried about you, we both were." Lucy sat next to Maria with her back turned towards her. She stared idly at the floor as she recounted the night prior. "You came to my room wanting to sleep with me, and then later that morning, you yelled at me and left suddenly... You were really kinda scary, Maria. I called Mrs. Kazuko after that, and she wanted to check on you, and then... we found you like this. But it's okay, I know that everything will turn out alright!" She turned to Maria, smiling brightly. "So don't worry, okay? You can count on us!"

"Wh-- so they are yours?" Yuuka paused, her face full of genuine surprise. A little embarrassed herself, she quickly reclaimed Nora's glasses from her bosom and handed them over. "My apologies, if I had known I would have never teased. Ah, sorry if I smudged them..!"
"So, when did you start wearing glasses...? I've never seen you with them, even when I used to tutor you, and you never complained of having trouble..." She toyed with a lock of her hair nervously, arms crossed. A thought occurred to her, "Does this mean the book is yours too? I don't really mind if you're into that kind of stuff, I was merely curious...!"

"Sleep with you, uh?" Maria stared at the ceiling or right through it rather. Her thoughts seemed to wonder but she quickly brought them back into focus. "I didn't think something like this would happen. I thought it was just tension, and stress. I just had to take some medicine and the pain would go away, so I didn't think much of it. Now, I feel much better. Like... I hadn't felt in a long time."
"It's not like when we are in the duels, it feels much more like my own flesh and bones. Not like some thing magically tacked on by magic, it feels real. It feels mine." Maria wriggled her wrists in the belt subconsciously, "And I don't know is Master Kazuko will have an answer but part of me honestly doesn't care. Then again, part of me wants to be a cannibal." She rubbed at her face with her hands groaning in annoyance,"It's very confusing!"

"Yes, they are," Nora sullenly admitted, taking the glasses and wiping at them with her sleeve," yeah yeah, don' worry 'bout it." The black haired teen blushed furiously,"Well it developed a bit after You were my tutor. It was weird I guess, some defect that progressed slowly enough I didn't notice till it was hard to read boards. I quickly picked up contacts when people would poke fun at me in school for my glasses. I never wear them in public. At home I did wear my glasses because I can't stand contacts."
"And the book is mine too... I am like Lucy in that respect... " she sighed crossing her arms again,"No one but Mousetsu knows. He'd get me manga when he had time and stuff like that." She sat at her bed walking around Yuuka. "You must think I'm a dork now!"

"Yeah-- w-w-well, not sleep sleep with me! Um, you had a nightmare or something, and wanted company! That's all!" Lucy waved her arms about frantically. She quickly settled back down, politely letting Maria speak her piece. She fumbled with the bedsheets next to her while listening, only speaking once Maria was finished. "I guess... I can't say I know what you're going through. My changes were never so drastic, only changing my hair a little! I mean, I felt stronger then - and I kinda do right now, too! - but it was nothing compared to you, Maria... Erm, I don't know what feeling like a cannibal is like, and I hope I never find out, but it shouldn't be so bad! I mean, you're still you, right? You have the common sense not to go around eating people!" Lucy laughed nervously, which slowly subsided. "....E-eh, who exactly do you want to eat...?"

Yuuka chuckled softly, "My, that sounds too much like a classic cliche. Honestly, in this day and age, many people wear glasses, and admire Japanese culture. Why would I think you're a dork?" She waved lightly, leaning against the nightstand. "You were always such a tough girl, I'm surprised you let a few name-callers get to you. That's nothing like the little girl I used to know! And besides, you're an adult now, so there's no need to worry about that petty social stigma. If someone's gonna judge you just because of a pair of glasses, would you really want to get to know that person in the first place?"
"Besides, at least you don't leave lewd books and magazines laying around like Lucy does! You wouldn't believe the things I've had to clean up after the girl...!"

"Let's hope you don't know what that is like, Lucy, even with common sense it's not nice," Maria responded eyes still on the ceiling. The last of Lucy's questions made her turn a bit hint of pale, a tad noticeable even with her pale skin. Instead of answering she simply rolled over and used the pillow to cover her head. Rolling over caused her wings to pop up out of the blanket her friend had so carefully tucked her into.

"I... I guess you do have a point,... I just didn't like being teased for something I could avoid. I really REALLY don't like contacts though..." Nora played with her glasses. "I am not a hard core fan, I just like reading and That's about it, ..maybe attend a convention now and again. I don't do it often because going alone is no fun."
She stood and went over to the book case, she pulled out two of her textbooks revealing a few manga tucked away behind them. "I guess if you don't mind there is no real point about being awkward about it," the baseball player slid on her glasses.

"... Maria..?" Lucy turned just as the girl turned, catching a face full of her wings and feathers, nearly knocking the once-blonde off the bed. "Waah--!" She tipped backwards but grappled with the feathers, barely managing to keep her balance and stay on the bed. Lucy then peeked over the exposed plumage, spotting Maria with her head hidden from the world.
"W-What's wrong? Was it something I said? ... Wow, your wings are really soft...!" Lucy ran a finger along the bony structure underlying the soft, downy feathers.

"If going alone is an issue, why not go with Lucy? I know for certain that she attends - why, even now I believe I heard her planning to attend one later this summer. You should ask to go with her, I'm sure she would enjoy the company! Now then," Yuuka approached Nora with a smile, using both hands to lightly adjust the young woman's glasses a bit more properly on her face. "Enough of this ridiculousness, I don't mind at all! We've plenty of concerns to worry for aside from our appearance and hobbies. If we're to protect the school and its students, I'd like to know that your aim is adequate~"

Maria chose not to respond or move. That is, till Lucy's hand found its way into her wings. If having wings wasn't foreign enough, the intruding touch was; albeit, Lucy's warm fingers were oddly soothing to her strong wings. Maria shivered, but she uncovered her head enough to stare at Lucy run her ringers through the black feathers. "D...Do you mean that?" Maria raised her upper body a bit, twisting enough to look at Lucy but not so far as to take her wings from the soft touch.
"That feels really nice... "

Nora blinked as Yuuka came up to fix her glasses. She wasn't able but to smile at Yuuka and her sense of humor. "You do make a good point. Maybe I will ask Lucy someday, and don't worry about my aim, that's what contacts are for!" The teen went around , took her manga back and placed it back onto her nightstand.
"Now then, we can focus on dinner and what is up in the school grounds , right?" She came back to Yuuka, walking out to head to the kitchen,"So we know Farona has cards, that chick from the Thespian Club. Who else again? A basketball player?... Uh, I know a few of the girls in the team..."

"Mean what?" Lucy asked, continuing to stroke Maria's wings idly. "That they're soft? Well, yeah!" she reached another hand to pat the thicker part of the wing, where most of the feathers were. "They feel really soft, like a really comfy pillow or a nice soft marshmallow!" Nearly cradling a wing, Lucy began to rub her cheek against the soft plumage. "I'm really jealous, you know! I wish I had wings like these... they're so pretty and amazing, and... and--" Before she knew what she was doing, Lucy had begun to nibble lightly on the ridge of Maria's wing, giggling childishly. "Hehehe~"

"That's right, there is much to discuss. We only know a handful of currently active card holders. Referring to Seijin's notes, they are as follows;" Yuuka began to recite the names of all the children as she lead the way to the dining room and kitchen area. "Lucy, Maria, Samantha, Farona, Tabitha, you, Seijin, Taisei and myself." She paused to ponder a moment. "I may have missed a name or two. We know Hazumi possesses some as well, but nobody has seen her in a while... I don't believe she's involve with the current incident, or even wishes to be."
"We still don't know the purpose behind the sudden revitalization of magic, either. With the closing of the last incident, all had assumed that the card's power was gone for good. The last time, the incident served a purpose, and that was to open a supposed 'gateway to paradise'... Even if we can't find anymore gate cards, we can't rule out the possibility of repetition."

Maria twitched, blushing as Lucy petted and ran her fingers into her wings. She blushed even more as the pseudo-celestial began to nibble at it and giggle like a child. "L-Lucy--!" Maria wiggled from the sensation , her face rosy ,"Do-don't eat my wings--"

"Mh, you have a point," Nora began to gather the ingredients and prepare the kitchen appliances,"We are yet to know why the cards chose to activate again. Maybe there has been another flux in their source of power? Up to now we haven't heard of anything bad happen. The cards haven't caused the mess they did last time. Maybe they are just... fixating themselves?" She began to stir and prepare the chicken,"You heard Seijin. Her cards' entity is communing with her. Maybe all the decks wish to achieve that?"
Noraneko turned to Yuuka pushing her glassee,"All I mean to say is that perhaps these time the cards are not trying more than to connect to their wielders. It may sound farfetched, but its an idea."
- - - Later, that night . . .
Seijin walked down the hallway to her door, rolling her shoulders and giving a deep sigh. Tabitha had proven a bit of a challenge. The girl was down in the deep end of the magic, and likely to be their new antagonist. There was much to think of, much to consider, and much to do.
Finally at her door she inserted the key into the door knob and opened into her room. She made no noise however; she could see Samantha's figure still fast asleep in her room. Seijin placed her keys in the small hook next to the door, removed her jacket and was about to pull out a sleeping bag when an odd sound outside of her room. . .
It was like the noise of nail gritting down a chalkboard, yet more... flesh like. Seijin took a bat from next to the door and opened it. A step outside was all she took-

Yuuka's cellphone began to ring in the dead of night. Not even the stars shone outside, this cloudy night.
"H-hey... *pant* Yuuka, I need a -... a little he-help... *pant* I am- ... sort of stuck-... outside the dorms-... S-something got me, Yuuka-... *pause, heavy breathing* I - I-.... I don't know how bad my leg is-.... Would you... mind coming to see, p-please? ... Sorry- b- *a longer pause* I need to-- rest a second--"
The line itself didn't die, no, the call continued, but all that could be hear was the howling of the wind.

Yuuka awoke with a start. She hadn't expected her phone to ring so late a night, and nobody she knew would call her at this time unless it was an emergency. In other words, this must be the case. The teacher rolled over sleepily in her bed and took her phone from the nightstand, answering the call.
"Hello? Who-- Seijin?" Yuuka sat straight up upon hearing her fellow colleague's distressed voice. "Seijin, what's wrong? Where are you? Seijin? Seijin!" There was only silence afterward, save for the dreadfully morose wind. Yuuka nearly leaped out of bed, the phone still held to her ear. "Don't worry, I'm coming for you, just hang on okay? We'll find you and -- NORA!!"
In the span of the next minute, Yuuka quickly changed out of her pajamas and into casual wear, and in the second minute she burst through her guest's bedroom door. She still carried the phone with her, with the line still connected. She went over to the girl's bedside and shook her shoulder roughly. "Nora! Nora, get up! Something's wrong with Seijin, I need you to drive me to the school! Nora, wake up!"

"Whawhawhawhaaaa-!" Nora woke up to being shake around,"IAMUPIAMUP!" She quickly sat up, her brain finally absorbing what was going on and what was being asked from her. She jumped up and changed as quick as Yuuka had,"The keys are next to the door, go ahead and get them!"
Trusting Yuuka would do so, Nora slipped on a large sweatshirt and glasses as she hurried behind Yuuka, trying her hair up as she walked. For the time being this would have to suffice as her disguise. The large hoodie held most of her features. The baseball players took her keys from Yuuka . She jumped onto the drivers sear and ignited the motor.
After Yuuka climbed on behind her, she would warn, "Hang on."

The drive to the school was done in record time, if anything because there was absolutely no traffic. Soon enough, Nora stopped her bike, letting Yuuka get off before she did. "Where is Seijin? What happened ?" she'd finally ask, before simply following Yuuka's lead.

Seijin was on her side. It appeared she had been trying to stop her bleeding from her leg with her hand, as her right hand, the one on the "top" of her body, was so covered in blood.Her hand, limp next to her, still had her cellphone and her head was rested. The wolven features were still visible, albeit a side of her tail was bloodied from being rested in the pool that had formed around her leg.
The wound itself was difficult to see, the blood had covered much detail of it. One thing was sure though: It was deep, and it covered most of her knee and calf. The rest of her bare skin had scrapes and already visible bruises, and she seemed to be completely unconscious, no doubt from the blood loss and perhaps shock from the attack.
"Oh god--" Nora was frozen in place at the sight.
