Daring had been well pleased with how the fairies had reacted to her story the night before, she had tarnished her reputation with her attempt at thievery (it had just been so long since she had seen any treasures) and now it seemed she might have redeemed herself. She went to sleep with that peace of mind. She woke up to the smell of breakfast... only... her nose sniffed a few times, eyes still shut tight. It didn't smell like it was off in the distance, it smelled close. Daring opened her eyes, breakfast in bed? Wow, that was generous. She wondered if everyone had gotten that sort of treatment, it hadn't seemed like these particular fairies had been interested in giving them a relaxing vacation. Daring wrapped up most of the food, to put in her pack, but took a bite of everything first.

She popped out of her tent, stretching before getting ready to start the day's journey. The fairies were busy banging their pots and pans trying to get everyone else up, Daring was relieved that she had woke up to something more pleasant. They were up early, even for her standards. Daring was quickly on the trail with the rest of the pae, she stopped for a moment to admire the view, certainly beautiful to see her new home from up here. Daring Do was certainly an adventurous type, and would expect to have a lot of fun exploring the mine... but she did have her lantern taken away and one peak into the opening told her that she wasn't going to get very far without it.

Daring sighed. Then had an idea, that pae she had met... she had her lantern still. Daring looked around quickly for the pae, trying to spot her hat, but couldn't find her anywhere. It would make sense that she had already gone down, since Daring remembered her liking to explore as well. Bummer. Daring looked around the point where they had stopped to see if there was anything that she could use for a light source, easy enough after the fairies lit their fire. Daring grabbed one of the burning timbers from the fire pit and took it down into the mine. Her chest bubbled in excitement to be off exploring again.

Daring made her way along, pulling out her pocket knife from her pack as she did. Every once in a while, she would carve into the wall an arrow to help her find her way back. She would give herself so much time before she would turn around, that way she wouldn't go so far in she couldn't find her way out. Daring held up her torch to the walls, inspecting them for any drawings or notes of who had been down here before her. Daring passed an old lantern at one point and thought of picking it up, since she had lost hers, but this torch was working good for her. No, Daring was interested in things of a particular nature, treasures and historical artifacts. Especially in these mountains, which had been as far as she knew, not explored well by other pae.

After a few hours down in the cave, Daring was shining the torch near the floor when a small glint caught her eye. The faun made her way towards it and discovered that the torch had glinted off a small metal seal on a little chest. It looked old, Daring picked it up, it had some weight to it as if something were inside, but she decided against opening it in the hear and now, better to wait until she was out in the daylight, she didn't have a place to set her torch down after-all. Daring put the chest in her sack before continuing on, she was going to turn around soon.

Daring Do stopped to take a breather when she got a dead end, she would turn around soon. As she sat down, she moved the torch around to inspect where she was, the room was littered with tiny stones, Daring picked one up and turned it over, noticing the strange symbol inscribed in it. This was exactly the sort of thing Daring had been looking for, she crawled along the floor, holding the torch with one hand and flipping the different rocks to see which had symbols with her free hand. Daring collected as many as she could before getting ready to head back.

On her way back Sunny wished the spirit had come back to lead her back. Even with the map she was pretty sure she had gotten her self lost Since she did not know were she was on the map it was not much help. This was the problem with her power once the spirit was done they would vanish leaving her stuck were ever she was. She had been using the pickax to lave marks on the wall. That was until she noticed another more recent mark on the wall. "I think I still have time so I should see who is there." As she moved along the path for a few minutes she started to wonder if she had made a bad decision that was until she happened to come upon Daring.
"Funny metting you here of all places." when she noticed her torch she felt like a fool. "Sorry about not waiting for you I kind of was forced to go in." Yeah that was not going to make her suspicious at all. Sunny you are very bad about hiding your ability. "Anyway want to go back together?"

Today was not a good day for Crystal! Missing breakfast, barely keeping up with the group, becoming exhausted with the climb...she had enough. Using her map, the female made her way back to camp, wondering if there would be food left. To her surprise, other pae had the same idea! She ducked into an empty tent. There had to be some sort pencils, right? The angel yanked on a sleeping bag. CLANK CLANG! She jumped at the noise and simply stared at the sword mementarily. Oh no. Someone had left THIS?! It had to be missed! She grabbed it after a moment of thought before hurrying out. She had to get back and see whose sword it was. They probably would be frantic without it. In fact - wait. What was that noise? She looked to the side, clutching her new weapon. But nothing was there. Probably just the wind...

Navigating the terrain wasn't overly easy, and keeping up with the crowd of pae'il was tricky too, he often stopped to catch his breath. He was more then grateful when they stopped to listen to the Solamirs "Not sure whats so funny" Noteworthy said to no pae in particular before following the Solamir fairy inside. He dug out his lantern and turned it on, that was better he could actually see now. He saw the pae spread out exploring and shivered, he didn't really want to explore this alone. Not straying far from where the group was breaking up he didn't find much of real interest though he noticed a small mound of fabric, and sifting through it found it was some old warm clothing the sweater with the closure in the front was of particular interest and he decided to take it/

(( NW is taking a sweater ))

Sparrow had been enjoying her nap when a large, sharp noise startled her awake, threatening to knock her out of the tree in her sudden disorientation. Who in the hell was daring to ruin her (much needed) nap?! Why, she was nearly growling, certainly glaring, as she rubbed her head and looked down for the source of this. Her thoughts on just how she would make sure this pae would not disturb her rest again were far from pleasant, even as she saw the source. Leaning forward, clutching the branch, she called out, "Oi, Crystal! How about you try and keep it down? I'm trying to sleep here." There was certainly irritation in her tone, but after a pause to reconsider, she added with a smile, "Please?"

He'd awoken that morning with a mild headache, but a worse backache for some reason. He suspected it might have had something to do with the Solamir fairy sprawled over his shoulder and snoring that morning. He'd attempted to delicately remove the snoring Solamir without waking him, then painfully started stretching out his cramped muscles. It was a few minutes before Seiya managed to stand, immediately seeking out something to drink. Not spirits.

Once he'd had a chance to flush his system with some water, the starry Fae's head seemed to pound just a bit less. He didn't overdo things with breakfast either, settling for some toasted bread and more water, which seemed about all his stomach wanted at the moment. Note taken, no more Solamir spirits for this Fae. The rest of the camp was awakening all too soon, and before long, all was noise and clamor to pack and go. Seiya's head was eager for the prep to end and the travel to begin.

The hike could have been better, but it could have been worse too if the Solamir had kept up that nonsense beating on the pots and pans. The voices of the travelers spread out as they climbed the mountain weren't so bad, and the open, clear, crisp air did much to clear the Fae's head at last. The next campsite was a welcome stop, and it seemed preparations were quick to make something substantial to eat. Seiya's stomach had had time to settle by now, so food sounded like a nice idea.

Exploring cramped, dark mines in the mountain did not. He shook his head slightly when the lead Solamir asked for adventurers ready to explore. No thanks, he'd stay out here in the open air. Strolling to the edge of the plateau, the constellation Fae paused to look out over the land below. So far below. The sky was bright and open, the land below opened up like arms to embrace the mountain within. Seiya smiled. The only thing that could make the view better was if it had been night and the stars had been out. They were still up there, of course, even now; you just couldn't see them. Only during the darkness did the stars shine brightly to light your way. Of course, most didn't need guidance during the day when they could see best. It made sense. But, at night, when the darkness closed in and others lost their way, then the stars shone to offer guidance and reassurance against the fear of being lost.

When the food was ready, Seiya rejoined the group near the fire, smiling at the raucous crowd of Solamir. They certainly knew how to have a good time, didn't they? Some seemed to have struck up a game of sorts, but Seiya was more interested in food first. A large bowl of some sort of stew was shoved in his direction that he happily accepted. It seemed simple fare, but hearty. Good food for a setting such as this. He also got a chunk of bread, that he eagerly dipped into the stew to soak up the broth. His stomach was much more receptive to food now than it had been this morning, thankfully. Only when he started feeling full did he slow his efforts. He noted that many were still taking plenty of food, and yet there seemed little shortage. Perhaps, they wouldn't mind if he took a little extra. That bread was really tasty, while also being hearty on its own. Remembering something he'd seen in his pack, he started digging through his bag before pulling out the provided flask. Hmm...maybe some of the larger veggies wouldn't fit, but... After asking for a second bowl of soup, Seiya managed to spoon most of the broth and some of the smaller veggies and bits of meat into the flask and seal it up. There, now he'd have something warm and hearty to reach for later if they hit the trail again. Smiling, he packed two small loaves of bread and the soup into his pack, shouldered it, then went to check out the card game being played by the fire.

He'd watched for a while before he thought he got a feel for the game. It seemed simple enough, so when one of the fairies turned to look at him with a challenging look, Seiya nodded cheerfully. Sure, he'd play a game!

The night had been filled with boistorous challenges, sparring, and then more feats of outdoing one another with words over fists. All in all, it was more fun than the night guard had ever expected when he'd started out to track the wayward teenager. Late nights of rowdy competition followed by early mornings, with quick preparation and being set out on a quick march before most were fully awake yet...

Reminded him of basic training for guard duty.

By midday it seemed, they'd reached what appeared to be their next campsite. Some Solamirs began setting up a fire to make food, but others it seemed were about to form an expedition into the mines. He debated the choice for a moment, then figured, might as well check out the mines first, make sure there was no danger, especially with the kids about. He could come back and grab something warm to eat afterwards.

Following the Solamir leader down into the increasingly dark mines, at first Nightwing seemed to forget about his pack and belongings. As a Night Guard, his eyes were naturally quite gifted at seeing in low-light conditions. However, as the darkness increased further, even he was having trouble seeing. His eyes did well to take low light and amplify it, but when there was no light to amplify...well, he was as blind as the rest of them. Except maybe their fairy guides. Then he remembered his lantern and retrieved it from his bag. The low light filled the area surrounding the night pony, and though it wasn't much, it was more than enough to allow him to see his surroundings.

Like the woman standing just behind him to his left.

Tanyth clutched her furs tightly around herself, dual-toned eyes narrowed at the darkness. She had figured that the mines would at least be a break from the chilly winds out on the mountain face, even if they were dark and dank. She right on that account at least. She just hadn't expected it to end up quite THIS dark. She'd been able to see just fine until they kept going, following the little Solamirs by hearing long after they'd lost sight of them. Curse those fairies, especially the one who took her lantern! Grumbling, she'd shifted her layers warmly around herself, focusing on her other senses to guide her. She'd heard one of the others fumbling in the darkness and at the first sign of some light, she'd moved in that direction. She paused as he turned to face her, taking in the glimmer of light off his armor first, then the hooves and the bat-like wings. Interesting.

Nightwing looked the woman over for a moment, wondering first why she was standing so close to him, then second taking in her appearance. Another one with wings like his, hers even more similar than the teenager's. But her tail...it looked more like a dragon's tail than a pony's! Also...she was missing hooves. Ah well, not exactly a kindred spirit then. Still, she was wrapped in many layers of fine clothes and he noted she didn't have a lantern of her own. Even if she wasn't a Po-err...Fauny, she did seem to be a lady of noble birth. Ever a gentleman, Nightwing held up the lantern. "Do you require some assistance, Miss?"

Normally, Tanyth wouldn't have sought out another like this, but... With a sigh, she admitted, "I suppose so. A bit too dark down here, even for me," she admitted.
PostPosted: Tue Sep 03, 2013 7:24 pm

After some time of travelling as a pair, Nightwing halted, lifting the lantern high. Something had caught his attention, some oddly regularly shaped rounded stones lay in the path. Leaning over to peer at one, he noted that they seemed smooth, as if polished. Odd thing to find in a mine. He kicked one over with a hoof, surprised to see a rune of some sort carved on the other side.

He took a hasty step back, nearly bowling over the snake-like demon who was peering around the guard to see why he'd stopped.

"Ack! Watch it, you oaf," she snapped, stumbling backwards and flaring her wings with a snap to keep from falling. Her glare held venom, but the weird horse thing didn't seem to be paying her any mind. How rude. Fortunately for Nightwing, something sparkled in the shadows, drawing Tanyth's attention away. Was that...?

When no immediate trap or magic spell was triggered, the wary guard opened his eyes hesitantly. Hmm...not a trap then? But, the runes... He took a step or two forwards again, reaching out to kick another stone warily. He recoiled swiftly, but...still no reaction. Odd. Curiosity had him moving forward again, realizing that if he was going to be foolish, might as well go all the way. He picked up one of the stones carved with runes to look it over. Then another in a greyish tone. Then a green one. They didn't see to possess any natural magical qualities, at least as far as he could tell. And no pressure plate seemed to have been triggered. Maybe they were safe? Perhaps the Solamir would know what they were. He put the stones in his pack, then looked for the woman. Wait, where'd she gone? "Miss?"

Tanyth hurriedly tucked a large ruby beneath her layers with a grin. "Coming!" she called back, suddenly in a much more pleasant mood all of a sudden.

***

Some more time had passed, and Tanyth was getting tired. Sighing, she looked around for somewhere to take a seat. "I need a rest," she admitted with a hint of a whining tone slipping into her voice. Wait, that didn't look like a rock over there...

Discovering a pile of some sort of fabric, she bent down, eyes widening. Running her hand over the fabrics, she noted the rough texture...but it was thick. Therefore, likely warm. She could keep her soft and silken fabrics against her skin, but the thick rough clothes on the outside would help more in keeping heat in. Grinning, she shook out some of the thick wraps and warm clothing before placing them over her fine things from the City for extra protection.

Nightwing paused for the lady, though he grew interested when instead of resting, she decided to start...claiming clothing from a pile on the floor. "Hey, what is that...?" he asked, as she sorted through the pile and seemed to expose something different beneath. Moving aside some of the articles that she'd discarded, Nightwing was rewarded with the sight of a small chest, though it appeared it might be locked? Well, maybe he could take a closer look outside. Juggling the lantern to a couple of free fingers after he lifted the little chest in both hands, he looked back at the female. "Maybe we should be heading back? We've been wandering around for a while."

Already feeling warmer had made Tanyth more agreeable. Glancing up, she shrugged and stood. "Sure, why not?" She had what she wanted anyway.

Nightwing nodded, waiting for her to catch up and join him in the circle of light before the pair started on their way back towards the entrance. The night guard wondered if the Solamir could tell him anything about the chest or the rune stones that he'd found.

Now, which way was the group? Where...where...'oi!' The call brought her golden eyes up, settling on a familiar face. Instantly the rainbow angel smiled. "Sparrow! I didn't know you were on this trip." Her one an only friend! That was...sad really. Then the others words finally registered in her mind, making her smile turn slightly sheepish as she glanced at the sword in her grip. Her sudden noise had woken the poor bird-pae. "Oh, I'm sorry. I was looking for food..." Which she STILL hadn't found. Her stomach gnawed at her stomach, reminding her once again that she didn't get breakfast. "I'll try to be a little quieter about it" She spoke after a bit of thought. She wanted to get back to the group to return the sword, but if she didn't get any nourishment she might very well pass out before she got there. That wouldn't do anyone any good would it?

Yipes groaned. His head was pounding like those little fairies beat on their drums the night before. Hands coming up to hold his aching head, he slowly sat up. A roll of nausea swept of him and he flopped back down into his sleeping bag. Good gods, what had he done!?

He remembered a circle and story telling. And then some kind of drink. Then...it got really fuzzy. What on earth was in that stuff?! A memory potion?! Trying to get up again, he winced as another round of rolling thunder set off through his head. He couldn't take this. It was too early and the camp too loud. He was gonna head back to a quieter site. The one from the previous night.

Packing up his stuff, he rolled to his feet like a illy used puddle and staggered on his way. The other pae and avalon's were too busy to notice much of anything anyway. Not that they would care. Those evil little fairies were out to get poor Yipes. He just knew it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Groaning a bit, he finally managed to stumble into the previous campsite. It seemed fairly deserted. Which was to be expected. He leaned over to examine the old fire site. Maybe with a little sticks and engenuity, he could get it going again. Just as he was about to do that, he noticed something crossing his line of sight. Way off in the distance but still threatening, Yipes quickly jumped up and attempted to stare after it. IF only he could get his legs to work right and his stomach to stop trying to eat his eyeballs. Which were unfocused as hell right now.
Giving up on trying ot figure out what he saw, he shrugged and continued to try and start the fire. After a few failed attempts, he staggered wandered around the camp area. Maybe there was something here that could help him.
Coming across a pile of pelts, he stopped and stared at them. He didn't remember anyone with pelts. Then again, someone could have had horns and he would have forget considering the constant trob in his skull. Bending down, he collected the white fur pelts and put them in his pack. If nothing else, he could cuddle them at night and pretend they were his friend.
Walking further, he stopped again. There was something shiney under a patch of leaves and dirt. Bending down, he paused to vomit. Afterwards, he brushed the leaves and puke off the medal and stood. And promptly fell on his arse. This hangover stuff was worse than he ever could have expected. Then again, he never got drunk before so he was figured he was doing pretty good.
Glancing at the medal, he noticed the weird writing all over it. "Oh great..." he muttered. His puke had messed up the writing. Now he was gonna have to return it to the fairies and apologize. Well, he'd be damned if he did that. Shoving the medal in his backpack, he continued his search.
((Yipes is heading back to camp taking white fur pelts and medal with fairie scripts. I'll edit ina response later, when I have time. So sorry guys!!))
The bird's eyes followed her friend's, blinking as she noticed the sword. "Where the hell did you manage to find that thing?" She asked before leaning back and stretching her arms. Yeah... she probably wasn't going to head back to sleep any time soon. "It's fine, though..." there was a noticeable growling in her own stomach, "...food does sound pretty good right now. Want some company?" There was little pause before she stood up, flexing her wings once or twice before she jumped to glide down and walk over. Whether Crystal wanted it or not (which, why wouldn't she?), she now had a companion.
At the mention of the sword, Crystal glanced back down to it before looking at Sparrow again. "Well...uh...in a tent?" She shrugged her shoulders, slowly moving the blade up to rest on her shoulder. "I think it got accidentally left behind. After I finding some food, I plan on running this back to the group." The Guardians after all would be pleased with her generosity and good nature. As an Angel, it was her duty to act in a manner they would approve of. Her stomach growled again. "I'd like some company actually. I haven't had much luck so far so...two pairs of eyes are better than one!" Plus, that noise from earlier tingled the back of her head. She hadn't seen anything...wasn't even sure if she really had heard anything but...something just didn't feel right.
She blinked at him for a moment before laughing anew, shaking her head. "When I said wine and dine...oh never mind. Mayhap I'll help you with your sister problem later too." Giving a wink, the female started walking away, hips swaying. "Oh, and the name's Erylia. I'm a demon. Better watch out." The tie-die female gave one last laugh as she disappeared into a tent for the night.
Night passed all too quickly. When Erylia woke in the morning to noises outside, she groggily poked her head out. Breakfast? At this hour? The sun wasn't even up! Rubbing her face, she nonetheless stumbled out for her meal. So sleepy and groggy, her taste buds barely tasted anything she shoveled in and the jibberjabber of the fairies about their upcoming hike was lost to her. That is, until everyone started moving about and breaking down camp. It only served to be even more confusing to her slow moving mind - the female plainly not a morning pae. Before she knew it, they were leaving. Really, leaving! She scrambled to her feet, grabbed her pack, and ran after them. This isn't much fun at all...maybe I should have picked the cruise... That sounded much more fun now. Not this hiking, hard stuff. Not to be deterred though, she didn't mutter a single sound of her discomfort, slinging her bag onto her back and keeping the pace right in front. But one would hardly be surprised that the party pae chose the 'stay behind and relax' portion of the trip. Another cave? If she wanted to do that, she'd stay at home. "Deal me in." She liked card games. Always fun.
After a dull-blank night's sleep in a drunkenly-set-up tent, Caléndula is ready for adventure!
Well, in her mind she is anyway.
Opting not to try and fly the hike this time, as her wings are still achy from the last time, she plods along with the rest of the group. By the time they reach the top, her feet are sore and she's hungry and out of breath. Relieved, she sits down near the fire, noticing the pot hanging atop it. Soup! It sounded so delicious in this cold weather and it would surely warm her aching bones.
But before anyone had any, the Solamir fairies got together an expedition to the mines! And she couldn't pass that up! This is why she came on this trip, after all. She looks longingly at the soup pot before gathering her pack again and following the group to the mines. Once inside, she lights her lantern and uses it to look around. The flickering lights of the lanterns cast jumpy shadows on the stone walls. They almost looked like ghosts! The thought makes Caléndula gleeful.
When they're invited to look around, she immediately spots something red and glistening in the corner. Somewhat hoping it's dried blood, she is immediately drawn to it. Aw, she realizes, they're just rubies. Well, they're pretty anyway. Maybe she could set them into little skulls as eyes or something. She puts a few of them into her pack and continues to look around.
She passes over all the normal mining things: rope, axes, warm clothing...and she spies a book. A book? What's a book doing all the way down here? That didn't seem normal. Curious, Caléndula approaches it and picks it up, brushing what seemed like centuries of dust off of the cover. As she opens the ancient tome, she decides it must be a spellbook, since she can't read the language it's in. She'd have to find a warlock or something to translate it for her. Satisfied, she puts it into her pack as well and waits for the group to move on.
Summer had barely made it to breakfast before it was cleaned up and With some food in her mouth she quickly did her hair back up and out of her face. Being how her powers were she did not notice any change in the temepture when as they headed up further into the mountain Once at the new site she decided to go into the mines.
As she entered she pulled out her lantern and saw a blue Faun doing the same thing. Exploring would be more fun with someone else to talk to right? She saw her was putting on a sweater and waited for him to have it all fastened up before she spoke. "Would you like to go together? I mean we should stick together so it will be more fun." She said as she walked over to him.
