Adelaide looked at Adrian confused. "I'm a knight on top of being a princess. I know little to nothing about being in a kitchen." She clutched her shield tighter when he mentioned that she had nothing to worry about with it. "It's not that I'm worried about it being stolen. . . " She glanced over at Lia, her features making her look a bit vulnerable. "I feel naked without it. I always have it with me." She looked at Adrian again and held the shield tight to her chest.

Adrian sighed to Adelaide, "Do you have any skills besides being a knight? I'd rather not send you to Cookie, if ya can't cook." He then shrugged about the shield, "Whatever you do, if ya can't do it while holding the shield, ya can put it in the cabin. Or find a way to tie it your your back or belt perhaps."

Tahlia watched in bemusement as the exchange went on between Adrian and Adelaide. Her question about what she could help with was worrisome, since her skills weren't suited for the sea at all. When he mentioned the shield, Tahlia stiffened slightly, recalling with sharp clarity the mirror hidden in the cabin, and the responsibilities it represented. Jumping down from where she stood onto the deck near Adelaide, she rested her hand on her friends shoulder as she made her vulnerable expression.
"Hey. We're safe here." She gently removed the shield from her, leaning forward and whispering into the girls ear. "The mirror is stashed in the room. For the sake of things, I've hidden it. I'll hide your shield as well, and be your shield in the meantime." Hiding the whisper behind a friendly kiss on Adelaide's cheek, Tahlia headed below deck to hide the shield, unaware of what she'd just done to her friend.

Adelaide blinked and looked very confused as Tahlia took her shield from her, and then her face relaxed as her friend explained. She was about to make a comment about how she didn't want Tahlia to be her shield, but that was when she got a kiss on the cheek and her friend walked away. Adelaide felt her heart quicken it's pace and her face heat up. Quickly covering her face, she turned away from Adrian. "I'll find something I can do in the mean time." It came out in a small voice unlike the louder tone she had just been using.

Adrian caught the blush before she turned and he smirked walking up to her. "Adelaide, before you go, I have a question." he said walking next to her. "What is the relationship between you and Tahlia? Are you two just friends......or is it something more than friends?"

Adelaide uncovered her face, blush still prominent. "What are you talking about? We're the best of friends and I protect her. Nothing more." She frowned softly, then looked at him. "And whatever you think you know, you don't." She huffed and walked off, going to go to Tahilia. Maybe she would know something useful she could do.

Returning to the deck, Tahlia glanced around to find Adelaide, who was walking towards her. "Ela(what's her nickname again DX)? What's wrong, why's your face so pink?" Worried the storm might've given her a fever, she rested her palm on Adelaide's forehead. Glancing over at Adrian, she tilted her head. "Did you say something to embarrass her?"

Adrian shrugged, "I merely asked what the relationship between you two was? I think she misunderstood, what I said." He said with a smirk, "I merely wanted to know if you were only friends, or if you had the deep seeded friendship that is more akin to sisterhood. I guess she thought I meant something else." he said. He had an inkling that Adelaide had more feelings for Tahlia than that of a bodyguard or friend. Her actions just now had all but confirmed his suspicions. Could Tahlia not see it herself?

Tahlia blinked a bit at him as he mentioned a deep seeded friendship akin to sisterhood. She smiled softly, an honest emotion, and glanced at Adelaide. "I'd certainly like to think we're that close." Tahlia rested a hand on Adelaide's shoulder, before glancing back at Adrian, placing a hand on her hip as her smile faded. "Twasn't fair of you to put her on the spot though. We aren't exactly the most conventional example of friendship." Tahlia was referring to their difference in class- the daughter of a privateer, and the princess feeling close enough to be sisters seemed like a plausible reason for Adelaide to be embarrassed, at least through Tahlia's eyes.

Adrian smirked at Tahlia, as playing with words was a pasttime of his, and she left an opening for him. "You are right. But, if I am not to put hje ron the spot, then where am I supposed to put her? She doesn't seem to know where she is supposed to go herself. She herself has mentioned that she has limited skills. So where should these limited skills be employed? Hmm?" he said with a small smile, looking between the two.

Tahlia blinked at him a moment, and then glanced up, before smiling. Brilliantly, beautifully, and for the first time in seemingly years, a full, unsurpressed smile lay upon those lips. Pointing up, she glanced back at Adrian. "Does your lookout need a rest? Adelaide's not scared of heights, has an eye that rivals my own, and a pretty loud voice when she needs it. The crows nest would suit her well." Tahlia put her hands on her hips, smiling over at Adrian, almost daring him to come up with another retort. Almost. The pride she felt at coming up with something was evident in the rare, beaming smile, and it almost seemed to radiate off of her.

Adelaide flailed a bit when Tahlia commented on her face being bink. "I'm fine Lia, I'm fine. No need to check." She sighed out when Lia haad turned her attention to the Captain. Ela kept her mouth locked tight when Adrian explained himself, having a feeling that he was misinforming her charge. Then Tahlia spoke of how she'd like to think they were as close as sisters, and it hurt a little bit, but she shoved that down. Her eyes showed the small amount of sadness before she smiled. "Oh Lia, you know we're close like that." She let out a small chuckle and then looked back at Adrian. "They can be employed anywhere, but the kitchen." She knew she wasn't much help, but she wanted to offer some sort of service. Then Tahlia spoke again and Adelaide nodded. "It's true. I could be of some use there."

"The Crows nest, it is then. The current lookout can tell you what to keep your eyes open for." He said giving her a small smile, "I guess I was wrong to think this voyage would be boring. If anything, its been......enlightening." He said as he gestured for Adelaide to climb her way to the crows nest, "Tahlia, I'd like you to stay on the deck, if you would. You seem to have a wealth of knowledge, should I see another ship with unfamiliar colors."

Tahlia's smile took a slightly smug slant when he agreed with her, before fading as she turned to Adelaide. "Knew we'd think of something. Stay safe up there." Turning back to Adrian as he mentioned her staying on deck, she tilted her head. "Somehow I got the impression it was more a fluke that I knew colors you didn't than any lack of knowledge on your part. Nonetheless, I intended to stay on deck as long as you'd let me." She smirked and tipped an imaginary hat. "After all, Cap's the boss." As Tahlia strode over to the edge of the deck, staring out at the sea, she took only a moment to be appalled at how comfortable she was getting on the ship. This was the goddess' will. It'll all turn out okay.

Adelaide smiled. "Alright. Thank you." And then she began her climb to the crows nest. Once there, she awed a the view for a minute, then turned to the lookout. "Tell me what I have to know, please." Really Adelaide? Using please on a pirate ship?
