Vyntyr felt her mind trying to wrap itself around the tumultuous feelings and thoughts that a normal person should be obsessing about. Who was the Sith in her vision? Why did that duel speak to her so deeply and confusingly? Why did the duel apparently supercharge her meditation, and were the two connected in any way? Should they be? Should she not have been able to see a connection between those two things when she was in the trance? Should this be bothering her this much? Should...Will...is...
Breathe.
A soft breath, and her eyes closed. She drew another deep breath, the thoughts driving away like fog before a strong wind.

Meditation (1d20+4 vs 10)
Health: -2 Stamina: -2 Attunement: 8
Vyntyr drew another deep breath, her concentration coming slowly to terms with her haphazard curiosities. There was nothing that she was trying to focus on, per se, but much that she wished to clear from her mind. She chose to train her focus on the Force as a focal point, and began to meditate on the nature of the Force as an actual force, guiding the universe by manifesting itself as energy to push and pull the events it saw as important. She pondered this for a moment and she drifted to the idea of an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object. If the Force was the ultimate unstoppable force, perhaps... An immovable Force?

A young woman sat meditating outside of a training arena, refusing to participate in the crowd's rubbernecking. The boy shows promise.. But he is reckless. He cannot be a jedi if he does not learn to guide the force rather than letting it control him.. This was something Cabndani understood well; the force is a powerful factor in her life, and she worked every day to work with it, rather than letting either of them take the reins. The power that the boy displayed was incredible for one so young, but she seemed much more interested in the diminutive fellow that he'd been practicing with; one who held himself in control of his emotions, and functioned as a conduit for the force, rather than as a font of energy through which power flowed unchecked.
Still, though... Combat training shouldn't be left lacking.. Diplomacy may be the goal, but sometimes you simply can't reason with people.. She wondered how well a powder keg like that boy could be managed without combat.
She immediately strode to the droid control console and punched in orders for one unarmed droid of a reasonable combat level.

Cabndani entered the ring and watched somewhat nervously as the droid emerged. She was uncomfortable with this; combat was most decidedly not her center of focus, and she could hardly remember the last time she voluntarily subjected herself to combat training, having only recently even bothered to check her lightsaber for battery life. She realized that it was fallacious to believe that just because she was safe now that she would continue to be safe, in hindsight. There were situations even in diplomacy that combat training would be useful.. Among several tribal clans, combat was used as a mark of pride and status. She supposed that that would be her rationalization for this.. The droid didn't really wait for her to spend too long thinking, though, and charged her with a flying punch. The girl spun away from the attack, overwhelmed by the assault and acting on pure instinct alone. She aimed a punch at the droid's body with her eyes closed.

Vyntyr pondered the thought for a moment. An immovable Force implied that the force could be made solid. She did not know if that might work, but perhaps she could improvise. A technique she had read about in the library and had discussed in class might be exactly what she needed. Instead of making the Force solid, one focused on making a constant, contained explosion of Force energy that repelled energy and physical blows to protect the user. There were even stories of Jedi that might repel blaster fire with this technique. It was close enough to the idea she'd had. It was certainly a useful skill, if she could get a handle on it. She decided that she would try, once she regained her composure. She had a mission now; to become more intimately familiar with the Force. The noblest mission.

Meditation (1d20+4 vs 10)
Health: -2 Stamina: -2 Attunement: 16
She'd gotten distracted. She redoubled her efforts to clear her mind. She needed to focus on nothingness. To become nothing and everything all at once. To become a part of the Force and through the Force become everything that was good and pure in the universe. She closed her eyes and imagined the picture of a leaf. Such a small, fragile thing, but the source of all life to the tree. A small part that fed a greater whole and that was in turn sustained by the whole. Without the tree, the leaf was nothing but a vessel of energy left to wither and die, and without the leaf the tree was a starving font of energy that went unused, waiting for new vessels in which to imbue its power. Every autumn, the leaves with wither and die, but every spring the tree would come back more beautiful than ever. It was a mutualistic relationship, and each became stronger for their connection. She endeavored to become the leaf. One vessel of power among many.

Vyntyr knew that in order to utilize the Force in such a controlled way, she would need to focus herself on the idea of the powers at play. There were a lot of factors to consider to keep the powers from simply exploding, like that other youngling had demonstrated earlier. She needed that sort of power, but she had to maintain it. It required a strong understanding of how the Force moved and flowed to contain it as a sustainable sort of shield. She needed a visual image to focus on. Something to instill the idea of the technique in her mind and allow her to form an idea of what she was attempting to accomplish. She searched her mind for an applicable metaphor.

She imagined that the power would feel similar to moving an object with the Force, which was a simple enough proposition, considering what she already knew of the Force. She simply needed to draw upon a simlar imagery to envision this power. It was always an intimate decision. Picturing a power in her mind typically formed a bond between that image and the power, allowing her to access it more easily by picturing that same image at a later time. She attempted to clear her mind an allow an image to come to her, since searching for one was proving futile. She allowed images of the Force to wash over her. Water, fire, earth, air, all had their own intimate details that influenced the decision to use them as the focal point of her workings.

There were a myriad of images flowing through her young mind, elements and metaphors all jumbled together, each appearing and shouldering the others out of the way in a vie for attention, as if orphans begging for adoption, or younglings competing for a master. She smiled at the comparison. The idea of all of these images competing for her affections was amusing, and she would have to remember it for later when she was going through this same process for another power. She cleared her mind and instead focused on one image at a time. Things that she already knew. When she was sensing the effects of the Force, she was in the middle of a body of water, observing the ripples and waves of the Force as it moved about and influenced the world around her.

When she was imagining the Force directing her toward a goal, such as in combat, she pictured herself as the spider in the center of a web, each movement and inclination causing a unique vibration in her domain, allowing her to register and react to stimuli without conscious thought, merely allowing her instincts to guide her and advance on the intruder to silence the threat. When she was moving an object using the Force, she imagined the Force acting as a cushion, gently cradling the object an lifting it gingerly from the earth. When she was throwing an object, the force was a propellant, condensing a strong blast of energy behind the object and exploding, propelling it forward with the force of a slugthrower.

When she was meditating, she allowed the Force to wash over her and represent itself as whatever it chose. This approach opened her to visions that the Force might grant her, whether they be metaphorical or historical. She thought back to that image of the Sith that she had seen in her previous meditations. She would need to bring that up to a master, to muse on the possibilities of the sight. She may merely have tapped into an unremembered dream she'd had before. Or it might have significant implications. That was not for her to decide, she figured. She would allow someone with more experience to make that determination, if any determination could indeed be made.

Vyntyr was getting sidetracked. She needed to focus on the Force workings at hand. She needed to understand the nature of the beast she was attempting to control and to understand the intricacies of what she was attempting to accomplish. To allow the Force to form a barrier around her body and protect her from damage was a powerful tool, but one that she had no personal experience with. She'd been told about the basic idea, of course. But she had been left to her own devices as to finding a mental focus for the ability. There was a sudden lack of ready imagery, and she was frustratingly blank on possible ideas. She supposed she would just have to go at it and hope for the best.

Vyntyr decided that it was about time to actually try the technique. She focused her mind on expelling a steady stream of Force energy, while controlling it. It was a bubble of energy that hugged her like a layer of plastic. An impenetrable barrier of power that she might focus into a sort of shield through which she might suffer no damage in a disaster or during a battle. She imagined the day that she gained proficiency in the ability, perhaps even imitating some of the ancient stories of Jedi who could repel blaster bolts and ignore potentially fatal damage by focusing the Force into a barrier. She smiled as she imagined the possibilities. She felt something begin to surround her.

There was a certain peculiarity about the sensation. It enveloped her, but it did not suffocate her. It was warm, and she almost imagined a hum of energy around her. It was not entirely unpleasant. Instead, it felt somewhat comforting, and she began to welcome it. There was a distinct lack of sensation from the outside world, though. She realized numbly that she could not feel the wind on her skin, and that she was isolated somewhat from the outside world. It appeared that she was alone in a bubble of Force energy, separating her from the small an typically unnoticed matters of the physical realm. She might get used to this. She felt alone, but not afraid. She imagined that she could meditate quite effectively like this.

She focused on the sensation of the shield. She felt like the energy was constantly flowing, rather than being rigid. She figured that it might solidify upon impact, like a hard impact against the surface of a body of water. She followed the lines of energy from deep inside herself to the outside. But then she noticed something strange; the power then flowed right back into her. It's a feedback loop! She realized all at once why there was so little drain on her energy reserves; the shield recycled power to save energy. The Force flowed through her like an electrical circuit, flowing from positive to negative and forming a stable field around her.
