You know Rath is probably going to play FE5 anyway, eventually. I think.

He's gotta beat FE4 first. razz

Anyway.... Yeah. Because of all the FE5 flying around, I felt as though I was in the dark a bit on the subject, so I took a little more time to think.
I was writing something bigger up, but since I'm on a bit of a time crunch now I'll give you the abridged version.

Point 1: Best: FE10 Haar

Point 2: Worst: Eda

Point 3: How the heck did Jill get worst last time. I must have been asleep that week.

Tiki I need to ask which version of Haar because there are votes actually for both versions of him.

Not to be such a flip-flop on the issue, but I'm changing my vote for best back to FE10 Haar.

You ever have those moments when you have two choose between awesome and awesome. That's what Haar vs. Dean was. They're both super good. And their contexts are very different. But Haar's game is kinder to him, even if Dean makes the most out of his own.

Hey guys man this one was a close topic I was hoping for a tie between FE10 Haar and Dean, but it didn't happen. Oh well.

This weeks topic is: Unit, but with a twist. Since Fire Emblem has a couple hundred characters, I don't want 1 vote for best/worst. I want 3. They can be in any order. The top 3 in votes will get the spots on best/worst. This is a topic I have been wanting to do for weeks now. The possibilities are endless and this is a VERY wide open topic. Enjoy.

I know Seth is getting a best

I also think Arden and Wendy are both getting worsts from me.

Just need to figure out what else to vote for.

Oooh, this is gonna be tough.

Best: Donnel, Tiki (FE11), Tibarn (FE10)

Excluding level-grinding on random encounters, Donnel's stats are the most likely to cap before Endgame due to his high growth rates. Keeping him alive in order to level him up that much is the only downside I can see.
I hate FE11, but I remember that, once I got Tiki, I would use her almost constantly. It really helps that she could use Bantu's firestone, which I used for level-grinding so her divinestone would still have plenty of uses by Endgame, where she's one of three characters who have a significant advantage against Medeus.
Despite the limited chapters that you get to use him, Tibarn is a powerhouse. He gets points over the other laguz kings because he's usable in a few more chapters than Caineghis and can actually hold his own for a bit while unshifted (I did this to level him up faster) unlike Naesala. In my opinion, he combines the best of the bird tribe's speed and while having strength and defense comparable to the beast tribe.

Worst: Fiona, Sothe (FE9), Wendy

Fiona was the first unit I put down for worst because of her horrible stats, the lack of maps for her to level-grind on, and just all around unusability. Even with stat-promoting items, she still sucks.
I think that Sothe can be useful in FE9, but due to Blossom, he grows too slowly. And by that point, you usually have Volke, who can actually promote while still retaining his ability to pick locks.
Vika suffers from the same problems Fiona does, though to a lesser extent. However, she's available for even fewer maps, and is nearly a necessity if you want to save all the villagers in chapter 1-8. Keeping her alive while saving the villagers was a pain in the neck. @.@
Changed Vika to Wendy.

GOT IT!

Best: Robin (FE13 MU), Chris (FE12 MU), Seth

The first two are MU-types, but they're still units with perfect availability and huge versatility and power. Seth is Seth is Seth. Levin!Arthur is right on their heels, I think, but I do think the fact that you have to pair his parents together in Gen 1 and he has to reach a certain level before he gets a horse should be considered. I might replace FE12 MU with him though.

Worst: Wendy, Arden, Karla

Arden because FE4 Knight, 'nuff said. I also don't think he gets credit for getting the Pursuit Ring; you never have to use him in combat or have him affect you playing at all to have him do that. If you give him points for doing that, he's no longer the "worst". Wendy I thought about for quite some time, but yeah. She's pretty ******** awful. 4 move, lance locked, in a game with lots of cavs and joining right before some seriously axe-heavy parts. I think Sophia is garbage, too but at least she'll always have decent 1-2 range for chip damage and better movement.

I'm hesitant about Karla, but will put her down for the time being due to her requiring you to use Bartre whether you want to or not, feed him a promotion item more important, and not be good after that. I'll probably replace her when I think of an appropriate candidate.

Funnily enough discussing the worst unit ever is quite the discussion on SF right now... Wendy's winning... by a lot.Funnily enough discussing the worst unit ever is quite the discussion on SF right now... Wendy's winning... by a lot.

Now that I think about it, yeah, Wendy's really bad. It doesn't help that she's horribly under-leveled when you get her, and her Defense stat sucks (especially with a 30% growth rate).

I changed one of my votes for worst from Vika to Wendy.

I see FD's post and realize one detail I forgot to add. I didn't want MU's and Morgan to be considered because of course they are THAT good, and you can make them whatever you want. So, almost everyone would vote for them. Not exactly what I wanted when I came up with this topic. -facepalm- I am a derp. Sorry guys.

-lurks in-
Alllrighty then! Best unit eh?

Best: BEHOLD THE MOST BIASED CHOICE EVER. Seth. If you want my reasons, go look at FD's character analysis. Not much to say about him. FE10!Haar. He's a beast. He flies, he smashes, and really does not give two s**ts about physical attacks. And with as much HP as he gets, he can tank a magical hit or two. 3rd's a bit tricky, but I'm gonna have to give it too Dieck. He's one of the units in FE6 who in my experience has constantly turned out good. In a game where the level up system is very unforgiving, a character like Dieck is a godsend.

Worst: ARDEN. Oh my god Arden. Your tale is sad. You are an ARMORKNIGHT in a game clearly designed for people with 6 movement. AT LEAST. Your one saving grace is getting a pursuit ring that is quite literally immediately moved to some one else ASAP. Poor poor Arden. That face doesn't help either. Fiona is second. Her stats are crap, she comes with okay skills, but overall her usefulness is EXTREMELY hampered by the fact that her growths are not okay, and that there are just so many better options than her. Third is fairly hard for me...Hm. I'd give it to Sothe. Why the heck would you use him? You have Volke. On top of that, he can't promote and his growths are only good because of Blossom. Do yourself a favor and bench this green-haired wimp.

Her growths are fine. Some of the highest in the game, overall, in fact. That's not what hampers her. What hampers her is how badly she's punished in the Dawn Brigade by her class and availability. She's around for two maps in all of part-1, one of them being 1-Endgame, both of them being indoors, so her mount is largely moot. Which makes her incredibly difficult to raise to second tier for Part 3 without basically feeding her most/all of your Bexp the DB has earned at that point. She'll need to be fed kills on those two maps, too, because her bases ARE pretty terribad and she's very easily killed.

Even if you DO give her all your resources and Bexp because, dammit, you want to use this b***h, first map she's available for, which is an exp-fest, she can't move out to reach much of the combat because she's on a horse in a swamp. After that, it's just kind of hopeless unless you continue to feed her tons of more Bexp, but she's very wasteful with it since she has 360% growths overall, anyway, and the game is wrapping up by the time she'd ever be able to shine.

She'd be great if the game allowed her to be. But, alas, it instead made her virtually impossible to raise. And so she is awful.

Using Fiona is like trying to get to the top of a mountain by mountain-climbing without any safety precautions when there's a perfectly good escalator available that will take you to the same destination.

But she has Earth affinity, which is the reason I don't consider her for absolute worst. Supporting someone with an Earth affinity, even if you have to avoid combat, must be worth something.
