He closed the wounded hand and made what was probably the most painful thumbs-up in history with it, grinning all the while. "Yep! She should be fine, assuming the moron shooting arrows at hands survived the much more sensible bullet to the chest," the Ace of Knaves quipped, looking at the wound again. He was curious how much blood he had lost so far. He had been hopped up on adrenaline the whole drive, so he hadn't really noticed then.
With a chuckle, the Joker added, "Even an arrow to the knee would be more effective than this! Anyway, I'm pretty sure he did live, because the way he fell, I'm pretty sure he was wearing a vest. And he was talking like he didn't want to let me take you, so I don't think he was simply jealous of my impeccable fashion sense."

"Hm... I don't know anyone who uses arrows." Gossamer said. And she didn't. Vice had his blades, and he only used them when he really had to. If it had been him there... Joker would NOT have made off with her.
She puzzled over that detail for only a moment or two, then focused on the fact that her child was likely alive and well. She was... thankful for that. Joker could have just as easily killed her.
"...do you need me to see to your hand again?" she asked. Keeping a cautious awareness that the other woman was still standing nearby with her gun still drawn.

"Hm, I'm not sure..." the clown said, tapping his chin with a finger from the injured hand, "Let me ask my happy, bubbly, not-so-moral conscience."
He turned towards Harley and held up the hand for her to see, asking her with the most innocent of smiles, "Harls, should I let her heal up my hand, or do you think It's fine as is?"

"Doesn't look that bad to me, Mister Jay." Harley replied. "You've had much worse scrapes than that. If it starts bugging ya, I could patch it up for ya."

He turned back to Gossamer and said as cheerily as could be, "You heard the beautiful jester! No voodoo healing for me, thank you!" He turned and walked towards the entrance to the building, saying as he did, "Now come on, before that fool archer comes back and ends my days as an adventurer. Not that it matters."
Habitually, he took Harley's arm and kept walking, just expecting her to follow, like she always did before.

Harley looked down as he took her arm, but instinctively began walking with him. Gossamer watched them walk towards the old magic shop for a moment, then looked up at the building. She gave it one last, leery look at the building. She hoped there were no relics or anything of the sort inside. She hated fighting that Zatanna woman. It wasn't much of a fight.... she had been placed in a bubble then locked in an anti-magic prison.
With a sigh, she looked back down and followed Joker and his older ex into the building.

As they entered the building, it became clear that it was in no way associated with the kind of magic that Gossamer had thought. There were old card decks and gimmicks everywhere, promising to give buyers the ability to shrink a whole deck into just four cards in front of spectators, turn pennies into dimes, make signed cards appear inside water bottles, and all sorts of other illusions. The Joker said, by way of explanation, "I know, it's not much, but it's the closest thing I could think of to something that you'd feel at home in, since I can't legitimately magic things out of thin air like you. On the bright side, Rosie's had a blast tinkering with all the cards and gimmicks."

"Has she now?" Gossamer asked as she looked around the room, relaxing more as she found extremely little that could harm her magic. That wasn't to say that there was nothing in this building that could harm her... but at least things seemed non threatening as of yet.

The Joker stopped in front of the door to the back, and said, "Oh, yeah. And why shouldn't she, considering she gets to learn them all for free? It was so good of the previous owner to let me buy the place from him. When he heard my offer, he just DIED! HA!" Anyone who knew anything about the Joker, which the two ladies in his current company did, would know exactly what that meant.

"Not a bad deal. Can't imagine you had much trouble getting it with how worn down it looks like from the outside." Gossamer replied. Man must have either been too old to do much to care for the shop, or didn't make enough to put up much of a fight for it.

The Joker blinked, then laughed, saying, "Oh, that? No, no, that was Rosie. She sneaked outside with some of my explosives. She was fine. The building, though, as you can see, was not so fine. I've moved them to the basement, and she hasn't messed with them since. Well, not without permission."
The clown put his injured hand on the door knob, and said, "I'm sure you'd like to see her." There was enough sarcasm in his voice to bludgeon someone with it; he still clearly thought she didn't care about them anymore.

A small smile curled around the woman's lips as she listened to what had really happened to the outside of the building. She couldn't help it, the explanation was just too cute. And sounded like something the Rosie she had been gathering into one girl would have done too. Granted, they didn't have any explosives at their little place. Far too risky, and far too hard to get a hold of anyway. The child HAD been playing around with Vice's knives and chain. Put a hole through the wall a few times. Broke a window. Pinned him to the wall by his jacket. She'd also made off with one of the small spell books Gossamer had found. Because Rosie was born and made from magic, she had a natural nack for it.
But... her inexperience was the equivalent of a second grader preforming advanced mathematics. Gossamer still couldn't get the middle wall separating the living room from the dining room to turn back into a wall. Suppose it was just forever going to be furry and rainbow colored and growled the moment anyone walked past it. Think the child named the wall Pixi or something like that.
Suppose she gave her child a little bit of an ornery streak. No matter how many times she duplicated herself.
Gossamer blinked once when Joker made the sarcastic comment before opening the door. "Why wouldn't I?" she asked. Her tone as serious as his was sarcastic.
He must have truely thought that she abandoned them both. She knew that's what it looked like when she was summoned out of that Lex Corp building. Absolutely the worst possible timing... Then she was locked up in that anti-magic sell long enough that... well she found out that she'd been up there for days Earth time. Then she couldn't find him for the longest time and...
... yeah. Guess it did really look like she'd just left them both.

The Joker snidely said, "Don't act like you don't know! You just left Rosie without a care in the world! She could have been killed! By ME! You know it's never been beneath me, and if it you weren't aware of that fact, Harley here can fill in the blanks for you." He jerked his head towards the harlequin on his arm as he added, "This is what a real woman looks like. Hit her, beat her with giant fish, throw her out of a building... I've done all that to her and more, and she still stayed by my side. The only reason she and I aren't an item anymore is because I got with YOU."
At that moment, he actually became conscious of the fact that he, in fact, was arm-in-arm with Quinn. The clown sighed, and let her arm go. "If I had realized then that for all your power, I was still trading down, it would have never happened."

Despite the bubble of anger that suddenly formed in the pit of her stomach, Gossamer merely arched a dark brow back at the clown. She wasn't sure what caused her to want to snap back at him. What he had said rather. Him insisting that she just abandoned Rosie to the wolves... when she had actually made herself physically sick worrying about the child. Calling her a downgrade compared to a costume who must have had such a low self esteem that she'd allow herself to be in such an abusive relationship.
Or... maybe it was because he thought she had more magic capeability than she actually did.
"Well then, it's a good thing I didn't kill her like you told me to when she came to visit the first night we were together." she said calmly, looking over at Harley. The clown girl had been looking at Joker, her own brow arched upwards at him. Harley had looked back over at Gossamer once she spoke, but didn't say anything herself. Come to think of it, Goss didn't think she'd heard more than one reply out of the girl the whole time. The news that she'd been told to kill the girl didn't seem to phase her either.
Harley was being abnormally quiet. Though in her defense this was a rather difficult conversation to try to pipe into. Plus... she and Joker weren't an item anymore. She didn't need to bring her claws out, nor did she really want to. Especially after Joker had brought up all the abuse she had taken from him just to be his girl. Just in hopes that he might realize how much she loved him... or even love her back. Seemed like he had finally realized it thanks to this other woman. Too little too late though. She had someone else in her life now. Someone who was... gentler.
Besides, the psychiatrist part of her brain was winning out on anything else right now. For all the years she had known the Joker, inside and out, this was a rather unusual situation. He should have been gloating, had her tied up and dragging her through the halls, have an entire room set up just for her. But he was calm... had put his gun away, no sign of any tricks... and seemed... she wasn't sure how to classify it. And this woman, for how dangerous and uncaring Joker made her out to be, was calm and going along with them.
So she was just keeping quiet, carefully observing both Joker and Gossamer. Trying to keep her mind focused more on them than the fact that she'd just walked in arm and arm with the Joker. Or... that he actually sounded like he cared about her for once.
Gossamer sighed heavily and crossed her arms. "And for all my power..." she said. Her tone laced with sarcasm, as thought that seemed like it was a bit of a joke to her. "I might have been able to actually find you when you went into hiding. Rather than nitpick through each and every building in this city. I might have been able to ignore what binding contracts I have out still. Or at the very least grab you as I was being yanked away. Hell, a little warning that I was being summoned away would be helpful. I also might have had better control over who came out when I... wasn't myself." she said. The Joker did catch on that she had a bit of a multiple personality disorder when they were together. They were supposed to talk about it when he came back from Kingpins, but they had company right afterwards. There was... a lot about her that they never had a chance to talk about. They had very little time together that wasn't bat infested, going out, or entertaining company. Perhaps he'd forgotten all about her lapse in personality... or maybe that just wouldn't matter with everything that had happened. Or lack thereof rather.
Perhaps it was all for the best though. It sounded as though abusing his other half was a normal thing. Some things she could take, and some things she actually got a bit of a high off of. But... she wouldn't have taken it for very long. It would have only taken a few angry slaps from him for it to be a physically heated relationship on both sides. And thrown out of a building? She would have classified that as an attempt to kill her. And that... was her way of breaking up. Once they tried to kill her, it was officially over.
"Like I said... there's a lot you don't know about me. A lot we never had the chance to talk about. Suppose we'll get that all out of the way today, if you care to even bother with it. I'll explain what happened at Lex Corp when we have our little talk. Whether you care to believe it or not is up to you. I know what it looked like happened... and you have every right to be angry. But I, did not, abandon either of you on my own free will. I searched all over for the both of you the moment I was able to get back. I couldn't find any trace of you."

The Clown Prince of Crime was... Speechless. He blinked twice, and finally parroted back with no smile, "Yanked away? Binding contracts?" Clearly, this was an avenue that he had never even thought to consider: that Gossamer had been taken without her knowledge or consent. He had assumed that she had every intention of leaving, and never questioned it.
She had been correct about another thing, too: There had been a lot that they had meant to discuss, but never did. He had a recollection of noting signs of Multiple Personality Disorder in her behavior, but that could be discussed later.
Come to think of it, he wasn't behaving like himself, either. Why had he let her keep her weapons? Hell, why had he not tied her up and gagged her? He wasn't behind the curtain right then. He should have been in full character.
The same went for Harley. In his experience, by this point, she should have been gloating right along with him, and acted proud when he referenced her devotion. Instead, she did neither.
A visible confusion erupted across the Joker's features. Normally, such a feeling would have resulted in a fit of rage from the clown, but it didn't, and he didn't know why, which only served to confuse him further.
