His attention didn't linger on the strangers for long. Shun looked back to Riley to reply. Of course she wouldn't have shoes. She never wore shoes. But she was going to need some sort of --

And then she was handed a lit firework.

Swiftly, he got up and rushed to make his way over towards the virgin who was holding the damn thing up to her face. At least Mot was able to act quickly and launch the explosive away before it could actually go off. Relaxing, he just stared at Riley, frowning, but soon turned his attention to the vendor.

"Are you insane?" he hissed at the guy. Shaking his head, he started to make his way back to his seat so he could continue inspecting his weapons.

"Terra, when you're done there, could you help Riley get some proper footwear? We cannot allow her to go into battle barefooted," he stated. He figured that the girl would know where she could grab something for the virgin.

Did he actually care about the one who frustrated him so much? Maybe just a tad.

Fireworks! How amazing! How many times had Etzer sat outside his own house, wishing he could be in the gardens watching a beautiful sight such as this?

And then the fireworks started. He glanced up as someone grabbed a firework and threw it in the air, an awed look on his face.

He remained staring at the sky, his mouth wide open. He could catch flies easily.

He didn't stick out his tongue at Shun's retreating back. He wanted to, but he didn't. Instead West grumbled something indecipherable and circled back around instead of continuing his retreat, looking into the sky at the fading remnants of his work. Flawless, as always.

"Hey, kid," he said, prodding Etzer's shoulder. "Help me set up?"

Rosy was beyond confused and would have pushed farther would have to addressed the King, had the sudden appearance of a familiar face caught her attention. With her red eyes going wide, she all but tackled Spinar as she hugs him. Her face hidden "I thought you were dead, I'm so sorry." pulling back, she looks up at him only to then look at the King feeling down right foolish for acting in such a manner.

Standing she bows her head only to look up as the fireworks went off. A grin forming across her lips before she holds a hand out towards Spinar "Guess they are having a celebration." she smiles to the other Silver before she holds her hand out to her so they can follow the King.

Right now, she didn't want to think about the Silver Kingdom, or this tournament that seem would be happening. Right now, all she wanted was to relax and just not focus on anything.

The candle was ripped out of her hands, and she looked hurt for a split second, troubled that Mot would take such a thing away from her - until he threw it up in the air, and..

It exploded.

She spoke this as if to share the information with everyone - as though nobody else had seen it. She sounded suddenly interested, staring at the beautiful display.

Really beautiful.

There was no visible reaction to how close she'd come to being hurt.

Mind coming back down to earth, Etzer started at the prodding of his shoulder, rubbing it subconsciously. Another thing he hated about being weak was that he bruised easily, too.

Looking at the fireworks, Etzer's eyes widened as he jumped at the chance. "Absolutely!" He was eager to help. How cool would this be?!

"All right." With an amused smirk and shake of his head, West started back toward his boxes. Thankfully, none of the explosives were lit this time, although he couldn't help but continue to be curious as to whether or not Riley could take a firework to the face with no ill effect. The Tiger and Qilin didn't seem to think so, at least.

He dragged his supplies away from the pillar he'd placed them near, lifted out a couple more rockets, and brought them back to Etzer. "These need to be tied to sticks and propped upright in the grass. Make sure they're far enough away from each other so someone can light them all in a row without bursting into flames or getting their fingers blown off." The pyrotechnician's long, bright braid was visual proof of his attention to safety, even if he had just tried to hand a lit firecracker off to a nun.

Levi sipped the tea, feeling the trickle of the liquid bring the sharpness of ginger but also the warmth of heat. Truly, it was a drink befitting her and the kingdom alike. Mmm~ delicious ...and such words; I could not have place them better myself. Gene's words kept the task at hand fresh in her mind. They'd be going off to war and this might be the last time she'd get to enjoy such a scenery of her home.

Opening her mouth to continue on the philosophical proverbs, the Queen's white ears shot up in alarm when a BANG! sounded in the sky behind her. Levi stood abruptly, yes darting around when she realized what had just been set off. That man... Gene, will you excuse me for a moment? Thank you for your wisdom and soothing treat. I'll hopefully return shortly... First she had to get a handle on that fireworker to see what this early release was about.

Taking out her fan, the Phoenix came within a few feet of West and Etzer before raising it. It looked harsher than it was, but the whack on the boy's head made a smack! sound that echoed slightly. Explain what that was about, Westus. Were you playing games in my court? This was no time to be experimenting with new blends. I thought you'd be releasing them together.

"First of all, ow!" demi exclaimed, started by Terra's roughness as he made pouty faces at the handmaid. "Your bedside manner is lacking today." he stated with a grumpy harumph and turned from the girl and her work.

They were setting the most wonderful example for Than, the visitor to their red kingdom.

"Yes, it exploded.... it certainly did." Mot replied back flatly, though a small sigh of relief passed his lips afterward. She had come so close to having her face blown off, and she didn't even know it. Good grief.

He smiled and rubbed his neck.

Xiu finally seemed to have collected herself, offering the newcomer a polite bow as she struggled to keep the grin off her face. "Welcome. I hope that you are unharmed?" And ah, it seemed as if one of the other Silver Kingdom citizens recognized the newcomer! Friends, then? She gave them a moment for their reunion before smiling and speaking up once more. "My name is Xiuying. As the Red Kingdom's King, I humbly welcome you here."

She cut herself off at the whistling noise that passed by overhead, which was followed by an explosion. Glancing up, the corners of the girl's lips pulled up in a smile when she realized that they had started the fireworks. "Yes, after the news, we thought...that it would be good to give ourselves some time to celebrate and enjoy ourselves," She murmured, and the smile faltered on her face slightly. However, within a moment she was smiling again, turning to gesture towards the palace. "You three are welcome to join us! Shall we?"

Xiu made her way across the bridge and through the palace building, moving through the familiar halls until she reached the door that led to the garden. Stepping into the garden, she immediately noted two more unfamiliar faces among her people--two figures who were clothed in Silver Kingdom clothes, like the ones that stood behind her.

Ah...

After a moment of consideration, she decided it would be good to address all of the newcomers together and cleared her throat. "To our visitors, I am deeply sorry to hear what has happened to your Kingdom. I...I fear that war between the remaining Seven Kingdoms will break out soon, but until the battle begins, you are welcome to take refuge here and make yourselves at home." A pause, and then she turned to look at her own people, a small, fond smile on her face, "And I expect everyone will make them feel welcomed."

She didn't want to look away. Lights were exploding into color in the sky above them, and it felt like heavens light was shining down. She couldn't look away, and her eyes rimmed with unshed tears.

Is this what it's always like? She whispered to the man whose arm she now held clutched unknowingly, fear and excitement stabbing through her like blades cutting into a weak heart. I used to hear them. But I've never seen anything like this before. She felt like a sinner just saying such things. Did not the enlightenment her years of ritualistic purification bring give her heavenly visions more beautiful than a simple firework? Were those not the most beautiful things this mortal world had to offer?

She turned to look down at Mot for a moment, her expression enraptured with emotion, and tried not to answer that question just by looking at his face.

"I did not hit you hard, and your head is much harder than a ball of gauze," she told Demi. Then glanced up at Shun, nodding. "I will get them now!" she said, looking at Demi expectantly. "If I am over-prepared, you have knowledge of how best to tend to his wounds!" she told him. "Please?" she said, offering him the kit. "I would not like our honorable Tortoise to hurt herself! You are my hero, Demi!"

Then she ran off, leaving him with the bag--because she trusted him to do the right thing! Brat.

Mot watched her, his eyes lidded as he found her awe more amazing than the bursting lights above. Seeing someone watch something like this for the first time, having never once seen anything like it before.

"I suppose.." He answered first, though fireworks were not a daily thing, the lights themselves did do much of the same thing any time they went off.

He smiled warmly at her emotional expression, patting her lightly on the hand that held his other arm. "Just think.. if all goes well after this.. you can see this sort of thing again and again. Won't that be fun?"

In truth, just the tiniest bit of her worry over the future ebbed at that thought. Yes. She answered with a sigh of relief, looking back up at the fireworks. I think, perhaps, this would be worth living for. Her expression softened, as the world grew hazy in her eyes. If she came back to the Kingdom, even if she could not serve the King, she could stand in the gardens, and wait for the fireworks to return. She would stand forever, if it took that long.

Thank you. She hesitated to look back at Mot, choosing instead to watch him from her peripherals. She felt a dangerous thrill at the sight, and chose to keep her eyes on the sky, where she knew it was safe. If she looked at him again, there was always the chance she wouldn't be able to look away. You've given me something to live for.

She felt the soft grass beneath her feet, and her toes crunched them playfully. It felt so squishy, so foreign. She laughed when they tickled her toes, and then looked back down at her bare feet. Shoes. She remembered now. I suppose I need shoes. Shun was always so knowledgeable about these things, she trusted his advice.

Where does one get shoes?

But she had no clue how to follow it.
