And Shun was glad that Ziggy was tucked away. Though, he figured that if he came home without a single scratch from that cat before then, it'd be a miracle. On the way back to the train station now so they could continue on with their journey, he nodded lightly to Mitsu's suggestion.

"That sounds nice," he said, "She seems to like orchids, so perhaps we could give her something that has to do with that."

He wasn't too certain what else the woman liked. It seemed like a pretty safe route to go regarding the flowers.

Once back at the train station, he paused by the map, looking it over once more.

"Do you see Howling Crest now?" he asked.

"She did like my necklace I think." Mitsu pointed out touching the pendant. "Maybe we can find her something similar?"

They had made their way to the train station again and Mitsu regarded the map thoughtfully. It went a lot further north than the last one and it was easy to see where the towns and cities tapered off. The stops were less frequent and as her eyes continued to scan she was starting to lose hope. Once or twice her eyes lit up like she might have found something but the names were only remotely similar. Howl's End or Howlers Hallow. She checked over the map a few more times but there really was nothing. It wasn't there. Had all her father's tales been just that? Stories.

"I...don't see it." Her voice sounded slightly defeated.

"We could try for sure," Shun agreed, while looking over the map curiously. He wasn't sure what to look for exactly, but he did see trains head further north. Unfortunately, it seemed that those didn't take them to Howling Crest.

Frowning lightly, he turned towards Mitsu and placed a hand onto her shoulder.

"We'll find it. One way or another. We could still travel north. Perhaps someone in one of the northern towns will have information on the place."

He did notice, looking at the map, that it seemed like towns were more sparse up there. They were likely going to have to travel on foot a fair bit once they reached their initial destination.

"Alright," Mitsu said softly placing her hand over his but from the tone of her voice it seemed she wasn't very confident they would find it. Regardless they waited for the train paying for tickets to one of the towns furthest north called Shallow Deep. It was a pretty lengthy ride but with few stops in between. By the time they reached their destination the climate had changed from slightly cool to chilled.

Shallow Deep itself seemed to be a small place with a very country feel to it. Nothing was new and everything had a slightly worn edge though it was kept up as well as it could be. It looked like there was even a Saloon. Or maybe it was just a pub trying to pass for one for the tourists.

Stepping off of the train after that rather lengthy ride, Shun stretched out before letting out a frosted breath. The temperature up here was quite a bit cooler than where they had come from. His leather jacket helped fend off some of the chill, but not all of it. It was bound to get colder still as they continued north.

Looking around, he noticed that they were in a fairly small place. It didn't look like this place was all too heavily populated at all. But, perhaps they could find some information on Howling Crest nonetheless.

"Think we could find someone at the.. Saloon looking place?"

The bartender might know a thing or two.

Hopefully. If not, they were going to need to try and take a shot in the dark.

Mitsu looked around to see where Shun was indicating. She knew very little about Saloons other than it was a western thing. With a light shrug she headed in that direction. It was worth checking out at any point. If they couldn't find information there perhaps someone could point them in the right direction.

As they made their way toward the building in question Mitsu paused for a moment as a group a scarelings ran right in front of her and out into the street laughing as they played and chased one another. She watched them for a moment a long forgotten question surfacing in her mind. It wasn't something she had given much thought to, especially after everything that had happened for one and....they were still in school for two but it was still something she wanted to ask but for now she waited continuing on until she was at the door of the Saloon.

Turning the knob she entered a room that was much more updated than its exterior. It was indeed a pub like setting with a bar still set up in the back but everything looked fairly new and not as outdated as the rest of the town. There were a few patrons eating at the tables set up around the room and only a few looked up to see who had come through the door. Their gaze lingered when they found the couple to be strangers and Mitsu felt leery to go further holding the gaze of a few in the room.

Shun saw the scarelings as well, but didn't think anything of them. They were just kids and they were doing their own thing, so he didn't pay them any mind. He just continued on to enter the Saloon, looking around as the interior had a more modern touch to it.

His eye narrowed for the moment as he felt the gaze of several of the patrons fall on them, but he pressed onwards towards the counter where the bartender stood behind.

"Do you, or anyone here, happen to know where we can find a town called Howling Crest?" he asked calmly. The strangers watching them made him a little uneasy, but he wasn't going to let himself be intimidated by it.

Mitsu stood at the door a moment longer only startled into moving when she realized Shun was still on his way to the bar. She quickened her step to catch up her eyes still lingering on the random patrons but it seemed their staring was merely out of curiosity. After a little while they went back to either eating or chatting and paying the students no mind.

The bar tender seemed to be busy holding the counter up. He leaned against it lazily playing a crossword puzzle in one of the local newspapers. When Shun spoke he didn't even bother to look up to see who was speaking to him. "Can't say I has." He said gruffly, filling in a few squares vertically with letters.

When the man gave no further reply Mitsu spoke up quietly. "D-Do you know where we might be able t-to find out?"

The man lifted his eyes for only a moment to look at the pair but that was all the attention he could afford on them as he went back to his puzzle. "No one here is likely ta know. Mostly local folk who barely travel. There is a Circus about two miles out ta the east set up in a large field. Might ask them, they seem ta travel a far number of places."

"C-Circus?" Mitsu tilted her head and looked at Shun. She had never been to a Circus before.

There was a twinge of annoyance as the bartender was sort of brushing them off. But, Shun was satisfied that they managed to get some sort of answer out of him still. He looked towards Mitsu, then started to leave the Saloon.

"Looks like we're going to the circus," he said. There was a pretty decent chance one of them would know something. Most circuses spent a great deal of time traveling and all. It was a bit of a walk from where they were, but it should be worth it, he figured.

Other than that, he didn't have a great deal of interest in the Circus, figuring they would get the information and move on.

Mitsu didn't think they were going to get anything else out of the man and Shun seemed to think the same thing. He was already on his way out of the Saloon and Mitsu was quick at his heels.

"What's a circus like?" Mitsu asked curiously.

They were back outside and on a path to the east heading through town. The little scarelings caught Mitsu's attention again but she only paid them a little attention this time before she moved on.

"I had never been to one personally, but they seem like a silly place to be," Shun said while he looked to check where east was, then began walking in that direction.

"Clowns and all that nonsense," he added. It seemed that he didn't have a very high opinion of the circus. Though, in a way, that made sense.. given his demeanor and outlook on what 'fun' was. Which, was pretty much nonexistent.
PostPosted: Mon Nov 26, 2012 1:37 pm

It didn't really answer her question but if Shun had never really been to one then she probably wasn't going to get a detailed description. Oh well, she could wait. They were on their way so she would get to see for herself. If Shun thought it was silly though she wasn't sure what to expect. What exactly was a clown like?

They walked a little further the town falling behind them before Mitsu decided to ask another question. "What do you think about scarelings?" It was completely unrelated.

Shun was walking at a fairly steady pace, not wanting to tire them both out while they made their way to find this circus. The sudden question regarding scarelings caught him off guard though. Glancing to the side, he blinked at Mitsu, wondering what brought that up.

"I don't have much of an opinion of them. I often don't know what to do with one around, so I'm fine if they leave me be."

If for whatever reason, one was intent on dealing with him... well then he felt a little awkward.

"Why do you ask?"

Mitsu found herself blushing a little and focusing on her hands as he directed his attention to her with his own question. It felt a little strange talking about this so early on but Mitsu was still curious about the matter. She thought about brushing off her question for now by simply answering with 'no reason' but something pushed her to say more though her words came out in a whisper.

"I just wondered what you thought about them...and if you might want some someday." So that he knew she didn't want scarelings now. That was not in the picture. They weren't even married yet but she wanted to know about their future. For the first time in a long while she was thinking about her own future again and perhaps she wanted something to think about. A dream to reach.

At that, Shun paused. He got that she was talking about in the distant future, likely sometime after they got married, but it still caused him to come to a halt briefly. The reaper grimaced inwardly, then began to continue walking once more.

"I would make a terrible father.." he said quietly. It wasn't exactly a yes or no to the matter, but that really was how he felt on it. The only real frame of reference he had was his own father, who definitely wasn't the greatest role model. There was also just... the way he was.
