Gabriele caught the end of the machete hard in the stomach, and rolled away coughing. She thrust her palm out for one last desperate attack.

Takizawa collapsed. He was still conscious, but unable to continue.
"I'm finished," he said, struggling to push himself to his feet. "Despite my loss, I'm reassured. Surely someone as powerful as you can accomplish what has to be done. I'll leave it to you."
He bowed deeply then hobbled out of the arena.

"Fight!" roared the troll-like referee.
Vicente wasted no time. He used Sonido to avoid his enemy's gaze, and slashed diagonally.
"Espada del Este - ¡Fuego!" he cried as flames stoked by his reiatsu danced along the edge of his Zanpakuto.

Mariko glanced around in a panic as her enemy seemed to disappear from before her eyes. She turned as she heard him shouting, but it was too late to dodge the attack. Hot steel sliced into her shoulder and she cried out in pain, jumping away from the weapon.
Spinning on the spot, she aimed a high kick at Vicente's jaw.

Vicente's Sonido carried him away from the girl's counterattack. He gave a hearty laugh.
"¿Se queman, hija?"
He charged a quick succession of Bala and launched them at her before she could reply.

In a flash, Mariko had her throwing axe out and began swunging it to and fro, blocking the sphere's of energy. Not a second after she blocked the last one, she flicked her wrist and threw the axe at the Arrancar. It flew in a horizontal arc, aiming to hit him in the knees.

"Ay, lo que es una bruja!" Vicente hissed to himself as the weapon tore through the flesh of one leg and embedded in the other. He wrenched it free and tossed it aside as his Hollow physiology repaired the damage.
"Espada del Sur - ¡Tierra!" Vicente stabbed his sword into the ground, breaking up the stone of the arena into a a series of crevasses with jagged edges. He waved goodbye sarcastically to the Youkai as she fell in.

When the Arrancar threw the axe, instead of falling to the ground, it flew back to Mariko. She deftly caught it in one hand.
As the floor began to break apart, Mariko recognized the only safe area would be close to the enemy. She rushed forward at top speed, dodging the crevasses, and vaulted herself over Vicente. Without missing a beat, she spun around and swung her axe at the Arrancar's head.

Vicente snarled and caught the axe by the blade, his Hierro keeping it from doing him harm. He pushed hard against the girl, aiming to hit her on the end of the nose with the blunt end of her own weapon.

Mariko caught on to what he was trying to do and reversed it on him by slamming the handle of her weapon into his jaw. She immediately threw a punch at his face, hoping to catch him off guard.

Vicente took the hit, and grew angrier than ever.
"Espade del Norte--Viento! Espade del Oesto--Agua!" The Arrancar slashed the ground twice, first sending forward a powerful gust of arctic wind, and then a splash of water which became shards of ice in the cold.
