Before Deryk could get an answer from Lizzy on the matter, there was a slow clap from somewhere around. Just as he turned around to see who was doing that, he saw an orange flash before feeling a surge of electricity that brought him to the ground immediately. What the hell had just happened? Oh. There was a runic dagger in the ground nearby... though it didn't look like the standard issue ones. Not quite. There was also a foreign voice. So it had been a double trap, but furthermore... who was this guy and what the hell was he on? "W-woah! Wh-who are you?" he managed to stammer out after twitching for a moment from the shock. He hadn't really felt what it was like to be disabled by a runic dagger before. "What mess... y.. you're crazy.."The stranger wasn't making much sense.

The uncomfortable atmosphere gave way to slight terror. The voice, the strange clap, accented by the sudden jolt of electricity and pain. Mot crumbled to the ground, twitching in white hot pain, barely able to take in what was going on anymore. It was all so alien, despite being in such situations before. Wasn't that Mike? Wasn't he one of them? Why was this even happening?
He didn't understand the what or why of what was going on. It was as if Mike was speaking in a code that no one let Mot in on. Once again, a simple field trip had turned into a death trap.

Random a** clapping was not a good sign. It was never a good sign. Marcus had watched enough movies in the last year to know that when anyone did the slow clap, s**t was going to happen. And indeed, s**t did happen. The sound of runic daggers, the feel of something go up- and pain. Hunter tech was designed to contain, provide a barrier, and drain. This was real pain, and the daggers were not the ones that he knew of nor had any knowledge were even in existence. Whoever it was that had trapped them, they had done it well, and crazy aside, Marcus was hoping that their ending would be something like that of Hollywood. That the ‘good guys’ won. Only- he hoped the other part, the part where half the party dies, didn’t happen. <********.” The brick missing his head had blue eyes at the figure. “Revenge and Hate or maybe -" pain lanced down his arm. "-You're just ******** nuts. But then things aren’t simple if you call it a ******** iceberg.” He cursed again, looking back to the daggers. All the runics he knew of could be disabled. The nets could be worn down, the chains broken, and the dagger barriers removed. Remove a dagger, the barrier weakens. Remove enough the barrier fails. The only problem was that even if he wanted to, he couldn’t move. At most, he could do was look to the others and the daggers, hopefully sending them the message.

Ofelia was listening to the exchange, a bit relaxed that this person backed off and wasn't going to try to harm anyone. She was listening to the questions, the answers. The group, the PETA. . . or DETH, whatever, had been led here by someone? That made sense, them suddenly being gone didn't make much more sense, and then came the fire and the drunk hunter guy?
Part of the teen wished she was writing this down because it would have made for an awesome story.
A story that didn't end well, since as soon as Ofelia heard the clapping she turned and before Rue could be summoned saw the daggers come her way. They were orange - a pretty color okay - but the electricity that came with it was not as pretty. Ofelia collapsed downward, her entire body numb, and she would have cursed but her jaw seemed shocked too.
". . . . whelp. How come Ah always end up knocked down?" Okay, maybe her jaw wasn't broken.

As if the burns weren't enough, Lizzy soon felt herself dropping to the floor; the encounter with whoever had put a blade to her back had put her on edge, and she simply was now too tired to talk or move - not that she could even if she tried. Everything was too loud, too bright, too painful... So she stayed there, eyes opened, staring up at the figure who was looming above them.
He looked familiar - sounded familiar - and as she continued to stare, it dawned on her that this was the person who led them here. Through the underground sewers. Into that abandoned building. Left them there. Her lips moved, and she tried to say something, but she couldn't vocalize it. Instead, she tried to catch Deryk's eyes, all the while mouthing 'Mike', over and over again.
-
Ariane was, to be honest, wondering why that one girl was being so obedient; it sounded like she was giving them information much too easily, although she kept it to herself. After all, Deryk seemed to trust her, and she saw no reason for them to lie.
However, she definitely did not see the runic dagger coming; it wasn't the first time she had seen runic daggers being used, but it was the first time that she had been pinned down like this... The runic daggers that she had used were used to generate a protective shield. Besides, they definitely had a different colored rune on it. As the attacker spoke, she grimaced, trying to push herself off the ground to no avail; her body could hardly move... If only she could kick the runic dagger...
To be honest, despite the situation they were in, she couldn't help but think that he sounded to her like one of those cartoon villains... The type of villain who spend a great deal of time doing a monologue rather than destroying anything, resulting in their eventual downfall.
She was waiting for the downfall part.

The assailant bowed, shaggy brown hair falling at strange angles, the gleam in their eyes betraying exactly how far off the deep end they had gone. He suddenly snapped his neck sideways. "Oh, I wouldn't do that if I were you, naughty naughty Hunter."
d**k had pried himself from the barrier- even as 'Mike' admonished him - placing the sharp point of his sword right against their back.
"I would think again about your current situation," d**k managed, rather smoothly, keeping the weapon pointed and ready, "Unfortunately for me, I really do have to insist on asking you where you got the equipment, you see-"
-"I know, clever isnt it?" Mike did not turn around, but he didn't seem threatened either. "They don't just make Runic Weapons for everyone these days do they? Tell Clarice I said hi."
d**k frowned. "Ah, a runaway then, that explains a lot. Well, you'll get to visit her yo-"
"WRONG." And then the assailant shrugged off their cloak. Wrapped around them, tightly strapped through chains were hundreds of glowing blue wires strapped around his arms, legs, neck, face, all attached to very familiar objects. Explosives. Mike started laughing uncontrollably. "You can't kill me, or you can, but I wonder which part of me will set it off? Why don't you try it, cut me apart, chop off my head, I wonder where the trigger is to go- BOOOOOM."
d**k boggled. "What is wrong with you. You're a Hunt-"
-"Was." Mike corrected, "But then you-know-who took it from me, so easy now isn't it, one second a glorious hero, the next second a failure, all because of one mistake - ONE MISTAKE -JUST ONE AND THEY TOOK PRECIOUS NANA AWAY PRECIOUS-" He suddenly paused.
And then something begin to tick.
Silence. d**k backed up, unsure as well. He kept an eye on Mike as he reached for his cellphone-
-"PSYCH"-
-It all happened so fast. One second the Sun Hunter was standing, the next he was face-down on the ground in a slowly growing pool of blood, a glowing dagger protruding from his side. He didn't move or get up again.
Mike laughed, and laughed, and laughed even as the daggers around the students and Hunters finally crackled and gave away. He snorted, turning towards the Halloween students. "Now see, see I personally have nothing against you guys. I understand you, ya know, that power rush, the moment you go in for the kill," he twisted his arm in the air with an invisible dagger to make the point, "How easy it is to take a life, all bones and flesh, BONES AND ******** FLESH."
Pause. Mike leered closer, even as he steadily ticked, the blue wires moving on their own coiled around him, like an automaton. "So what do you say? How about I let you guys kill these Humans. Taste some REAL FEAR MAN."

What. Just. Happened. Junko was struck speechless by the events that had just played out before them, backing away a few steps and just staring at the insane as all Jack Hunter with strange devices attached to his body. "Wh-what are those?" She squeaked out, shooting distraught looks to each of the other somewhat saner Hunters around her and her friends. BOOM!? Explosives!? What was wrong with him?! He'd take out his own comrades! Apparently that had been his plan all along..
Why?
She swallowed hard, frowning and ducking behind the nearest body for cover. Junko still peeked around them, eyeing the psychotic Hunter with a look of discomfort. "Nothankyou. I-I don't agree with hurting humans...I'msorry."
"Why are you apologizing, you twit?" The Mistress grumbled. Junko squeaked and looked to Lizzy, desperately seeking the answer from her soulmate with looks alone.

Mot watched the scene unfold with horror. What sort of horrid internal conflict had the students found themselves in? Mot held his arms out a bit as Junko hid behind him, if nothing else keeping the ghoul out of some harm.
Kill the hunters?
Mot leveled his timid gaze at the crazed hunter, trying not to shake as he formed words. Or tried to. His lips twisted as if his own body prevented him from speaking. Like some kind of defense mechanism to keep from getting shanked. He had no interest in a power trip. He didn't care to turn into something like Mike. Killing the humans would bring him no peace, no happiness.

Deryk watched in horror as Mike killed d**k right before their eyes. The guy had defected..? Well... it certainly was looking like that right now. From the way things were, it sounded like he had lose his weapon. Was it because of Caelius? Trembling a bit, he stared at the insane man who had strapped himself with explosives.
When the offer was given to the students to kill all the hunters, he looked towards the small group. There was some relief in Junko's words. She didn't want to kill him or the others. The cowboy was pretty silent though. With a sense of uncertainty, he looked towards Marcus, Ariane, and Ofelia.
He still couldn't move right now. And even then, he wasn't really sure how they could stop this madman.
"Wh-why are you doing this..? Why?" he asked. Well. The guy kind of told them already. Having what sounded like his weapon being taken away may have a lot to do with it all but... maybe he could buy them a little more time.
"L-look.. you don't have to do this. N-no one else has to die. Ju.. Just calm down man... calm down.."

Ofelia had been listening, waiting of sorts, and as the air around her crackled with the daggers finally deciding to give way and somewhat release her she flexed her hand to see if it worked. Yes, she could move her fingers. Yes, she could still certainly hear Rue bitching a million miles an hour in her head. Her eye darted back and forth to Deryk and the other hunters, and then to the group of students who seemed just as put off by all of this. Eventually her gaze settled on the dead body of 'd**k' and a thought at the back of her mind suggested that when they leave his body comes too.
Better to place him in the cold, cold Earth back at Deus than to leave him here to rot or face a much worse fate. He was a Sun Hunter after all, it would be better to take him home.
Yeah. . . so much better.
The sarcasm in her own thoughts was painful.
Seeing as her fingers could flex she tried to move and found a pleasant enough army crawl was a good response. It let her get closer to the person she wanted to speak with anyway.
"Deryk. . . we need ta get the students outta here." Ofelia didn't whisper, but she was exactly shouting either. Her voice was strong despite the clear amount of uncertainty that laced the words. "If he's a crazed former hunter, s'our business ta take 'em down. The actions'a a rogue hunter fall on us, dontcha think?" It could have been and likely was nothing but bravado - Ofelia herself and possibly the others had their shields damaged by that fire and if this guy blew up - could the scarce last bit actually protect her from having her limbs torn asunder? What about if she tried to move in front of a student, would her body shield them or would it be a moot point?
Asking the students to try and fight with them was an option but she didn't really think on that.
Another thing she didn't think of is why would someone go crazy without their weapon? Did some people treasure the link that much, or was it more of a dependency after a while and after everything that was seen?Zoobey cause ofelia's not really whispering

"Well," Mike was solemn in an entirely wrong way. It was the type of voice and tone of someone who had rehearsed each and everyline in front of a mirror and convinced themselves this was the way, there was no other way, "In that case, how about we all go out with a little bang, huh?"
Everyone else happened in slow motion. The defect pulled on a wire sticking out from his waist-
-There was a loud ticking noise
- Silence
- And then a roar so low, so loud that it nearly burst the eardrum of each Hunter even remotely nearby, a loud hiss and fizzle as the explosives licked at their feet-
-Threatening to consume them. OOC DEFENDING FROM THE EXPLOSIONThe Hunters are closest to the explosion. Their weapon's Fear shield will just BARELY deflect them from imminent death, sending your HP to 0. Roll a 20-sided dice. This determines how much damage you take at ZERO HP. - A reminder! Negative numbers in HP value = potentially comatose Hunter! If you hit over -10 ( or lower) YOU ARE DEAD. - Please see below for student part before coming to a conclusion of your total HP value! -HOWEVER! A student can try to BUFFER the damage for them. Roll 3 20-sided dice. This is the damage THEY TAKE from the blast. They may now choose to SACRIFICE THEIR REMAINING HP to protect the Hunters from hitting below 0. That means: - I am student A, I roll 3, 15, 18. I take 36 damage, I have 4/40 HP remaining. I sacrifice 10 HP to save Hunter A who has -10 HP ( from their roll). THEY ARE NOW SAFE/ buffered at 0 HP. HOWEVER, this brings me to -6 HP. I am on the verge of dissipation (at -10 you fully dissipate)

"Don'tthinkyoushouldhavesaidthatrighthere..."
Though Ofelia did have a point. The hunter just would have preferred if she whispered instead. Less likely for Mike to overhear and all.
It seemed they wouldn't have a chance to try and take the guy down, one way or another. Seeing how he was going to try and take them all out with him. Deryk's eyes widened before he took the blast full on.

And just like that? d**k was down. This guy- d**k hadn't been a bad guy. He'd been amicable. Nice even for their brief encounter. Dis- Dis was a low hum. Waiting, calculating things he wasn't picking up on maybe, but in the end- rely on himself. Crazy pants was crazy, rambling, likely unreasonable, likely to kill them all. If he could get his daggers then maybe, maybe-
The change in tone had blue eyes looking back at Mike. No, no just get the daggers up. Move, anything anything anything-
White noise. There was sound, he was aware there should be sound but- he couldn't pick it out. It was a roar. It was no sound at all. There was fleeting recognition as Dis was said something. Marcus missed it by a mile.

Well, Ofelia didn't really know what was coming next. Her shield had been weak from the fire, Rue had been laughing about the situation like it was some kind of ridiculous joke, and then came the explosion.
She wanted to get up and run, to protect anyone if she could or maybe at least escape from of the radius, but she was too close, much too close. Everything washed over her like a white wave and next thing Ofelia knew was the sound of Rue's cackle leaving her mind.
If she'd screamed, she hadn't heard it. If she'd coughed up blood as her shield failed, she didn't know it. All she was aware of was pain, endless pain, and then everything turning white.

Ariane had decided that this ex-hunter had lost his marbles a long, long time ago; how a crazed murderer like him managed to avoid detection, while in possession of runic weapons, was beyond her. When he offered the Halloween students a chance to finish them off, she tensed up, eyes narrowing as she eyed d**k's unmoving body; as much as she sometimes pitied the students, she still did not trust them. They might not be much now, but in the future, who knew how many humans they would scare into insanity simply by existing?
Maybe that's why the way they turned down Mr Crazy's offer surprised her - just a bit... But only because one of them had already established that they're here with PETA-for-humans, which probably meant that they weren't for killing humans.
Due to her wounds from before, she barely had time to react when the explosion happened; all she heard was Kintama yelling something-
-and then nothing.
