Rednal Ak'Thias

"Yo." Rednal said, waving cheerfully as he arrived. "Sounds like this place is about to get even busier than mine..." And thank goodness Yuno was having so much fun with Euphie. They could be occupied for quite a few hours, which would let him focus his energies on trying to help a friend... and take in everything he'd heard today. Strange days and strange events were something he was totally used to by now, but today had been completely insane even by his standards. Focusing on the mundane would be a good way to clear his head.

Sapphire Karakuri

"Emphatic Statement: I am more then capable of helping a student of her age with any homework that would be assigned." ...Were the first words of another guest. As a machine, Sapphire had no trouble at all connecting to content databases and acquiring information on pretty much, well, anything. Even those that stressed the importance of helping a child understand their work, not simply giving the answers to them. However, she sounded... just a little bit put-out, maybe? But then, she may have had her pride as a machine... and the suggestion that anyone else was needed had put her into just a bit of a huff. She'd still help, of course, but it was entirely possible she'd be a bit more pointed than usual when talking to Soji over the next few days.

Ciela Kuzunoha the I

Ciela calmly walked right into the house, wearing what was obviously a school uniform of some kind... but clearly not Yasogami's. She raised one eyebrow a moment later. "In the interest of honesty, I'm mostly here for dinner made by you." she noted. "But I'll see if I can help Nanako-chan out at least a bit."

Subject: RE: Gondor (Nanako) calls for aid!

We'll be there ASAP, Senpai. Don't start the journey without us.
With all of us, she'll get the job done in no time!

As Soji sent out his text message though, one could almost feel a slight chill in the air. Soji would inevitably feel a pair of eyes on him, as the other arrived.

It had been a quiet day. A little busy at the inn...having a few new guests, but in overall, it had been a couple of days free of the usual mayhem and chaos that had taken over their lives. It was nice, having a little respite away from everything, though the dark haired girl couldn't help the lingering question in her mind...How long would it last? How long till the Messiahs start attacking them again? Or...some other kind of monster or Shade appear? Disasters had been coming with such frequency that a quiet day just seemed strange. But perhaps she was thinking too much about it, wasn't she? She should enjoy the little things and relax when she could, was it? And if it meant helping Nanako chan with a little homework, and seeing the others because of it...well, she couldn't really complain now, could she?

And so, Yukiko arrived at the Seta residence and knocked the door lightly. She could already hear some voices inside, and trying the door, the onyx haired heiress found out it was unlocked. She slid the door open and invited herself inside, giving a little bow, and leaving her shoes at the entrance. "Good evening," she chirped, her gaze landing on the people already there. She greeted them with a little wave; a smile sent the silverette's way. "So, what is this homework about?"

Soji Seta, Investigation Team Leader
"Show me a hero, and I will write you a tragedy"

It didn't take long for the answers to his text to start pouring in from all over the town; idly he let his lips curl into a smile and a grateful feeling to radiate from him, knowing that he was quite lucky to have such a dependable group of friends willing to help he and his little sister in a time of need as htis was. Somehow he wondered if the teacher shouldn't be put under investigation for slamming such young students with THIS much homework AFTER the break because they had forgotten to give it out, but he put the thoughts aside, perhaps something to bring up another time, instead focusing on the fact that his teammates and friends would soon be getting here to do what they could for his precious Nanako-chan. Having promised some dinner as a reward, he was already in the kitchen laying out some ingredients and doing preparation work by the time the first of the guests began to arrive. Nanako was hard at work on some simple math problems that weren't the sort of thing that a girl her age would need a bit of help with, but the time for aid would soon be upon them. Creative writing, art, craft, and some comprehension were all on the table for the evening's homework bonanza. It wouldn't have been impossible for any one person amongst he and his friends to help her out with most of what was there, but then again, what fun was that? Having more friends over was always more...interesting. Usually, at any rate. At any rate he heard the door sliding open and the entrance of a silver-haired teen that he knew quite well by now. There was a simple, casual ease about him that Soji could always appreciate. And close behind him was another friend of his that he had seen far too seldom of late, though there was something in her voice that caught him strangely. Was it possible that Sapphire was...put out, slightly? He considered what she said, but didn't give it too much thought beyond that...hopefully a night of homework and fun might communicate the idea he'd had more than a list of explanations and excuses.

"Rednal, Sapphire...yeah, I've gotten quite a few responses already," the smooth Senior smiled faintly and offered a knowing smirk at the Great Summoner who had entered with her intention rather plainly stated...he didn't mind what she had implied at all, quite satisfied that a good meal was all it took to earn the assistance of one who likely asked a much greater price for her services, "Nanako-chan's doing some math right now, but I think she's going to do some writing next. If you guys could help her with some ideas for the topics, that would be a great start. ...Feel free to get comfortable in the meantime." His fingers gripped a wooden spoon and stirred a light broth gently as a sudden chill seemed to come over him; his eyes glanced suddenly over his shoulder, peering behind the counter, but despite the feeling of eyes on him he tried not to think about it in the interest of getting the meal done in time for the rest of the arrivals. And it was just with that thought, and the thought that he could use a bit of help, that salvation arrived in the form of an onyx-haired heiress he had hoped secretly to see tonight. Her formal bow was cute in all the ways he liked about her, and her question got right to the point of the matter, which would make it easy for him to strike up a conversation.

"Hey, Yukiko...Nanako's doing her math right now. If you don't mind, while she's doing that, could you come in here and give me--eeer..." and then his mind shuddered and rebelled against the request he had been about to make...a terrible and uncomfortable nausea settling into the deepest pits of his stomach, remembering horrors beyond imagining, beyond memory, things that he had wished to repress and bury so deep that he would never again recall them...and yet it was still so fresh it made his eyes nearly water...and he reconsidered what he had been about to say in an instant, "...give Nanako a hand with her writing? I think she needs a good topic for one of her essays, first. I'm sure together you guys can come up with something." He smiled, and hoped it was as genuine as he intended. Crisis averted. He hoped.

...

And all the while, Nanako was finishing up the problem for her math homework...setting it aside when she was finished, her warm smile at all her big bro's friends gathering around enough to melt the coldest of hearts.

"Um...thank you all very much," she beamed politely at each of them for their willingness to help her out, as her daddy had taught her to, before looking back at her papers and pulling out the one that she had decided to do after her math, "I need to write a...'narrative essay'...aaand my teacher said that she wanted the essay to be about someone that I know, telling an embarrassing story about their life. Do you guys have any embarrassing stories I could write about?" It was...a rather untoward request, to be honest, and one had to wonder about the credibility of such a teacher who asked for that kind of story. And yet, the innocence in Nanako's expression and her dire need made it difficult not to want to help her...indeed, everyone who had gathered likely would find themselves compelled to tell her an embarrassing story about themselves in an effort to be the MOST helpful of all. Such was the power of a cute little sister...and in the kitchen, watching her pop that particular question to the group, the silverette couldn't help but smile in appreciation. 'One day, she's going to have half the boys in this town wrapped around her finger like that,' he thought, fingers idly gripping the wooden spoon a little tighter as his mind began to consider the possibility of future Yosukes and Kanjis of the town ogling his precious Little Sis, '...and when that day comes, I'll be sure that every one of them knows just how precious she had better be to THEM, too...or else.'

Rednal Ak'Thias

The heck kind of teacher asked a little child to bring in embarrassing stories of other people? That was like someone who wanted to get a bunch of blackmail... but no, he couldn't be too paranoid about everyday life, or he'd end up driving himself nuts. On the other hand, his embarrassing stories weren't the kind of thing children should really be hearing, either. Proooobably best to sit this one out. Maybe let Yukiko take it.

"Observation: I do not have the capacity to feel that emotion. Addendum: I can, however, provide numerous sample stories from the internet." Which, of course, was the best place to learn anything from. Surely there would be no misleading stories located there, right? At least, one would hope her software could tell the difference between real ones and fake ones. Rather, the ones she deemed as real might be the sort of thing nobody ever wanted to have mentioned... but that was way more fun, right?

Zeo Zaggart

"I'M COOOMING BROOOOOOS!" Soji's room. Window. Shattered. Of course if someone had told Zeo ahead of time that they were studying downstairs, he would have probably come in through the door instead. The crashing sounds from upstairs continued, as if the new arrival had dove in from a helicopter...somehow...but nobody heard one of those outside, so that couldn't be it, right? The upstairs door opened, and a series of 'Ows', and 'Blasts!' echoed as someone rolled down the stairs, face first mostly, before finally crashing into the living room. "Soji, I got the message...where's the Shado-...oh...hey Nanako!" Why was he wearing an innertube? And in shorts? And holding a mojito? The answer definitely was not, 'party on a yacht'.

"So...uh...what's the emergency Soji? Need some Kirijo help? Broji?"

Faustus Necromonium
A short while after he'd sent his text to Soji's place, the sounds of an engine could be heard as Faust started to pull up to the familiar place on his bike.
Well, it would have been heard...if Zeo didn't have his usual, over the top extravagant [and likely very costly] means of appearing. It was almost comical at this point how readily he appeared in increasingly ludicrous fashion....But, Faust didn't mind.
A quick knock, and a turning of the knob showed Faust his way into the home of Soji, as he glanced over at those already present, and waved his hand.
"Hello." he called out quietly, feeling a sort of Chill in the air. Was...someone else around? He could feel a pair of eyes on him, though as he walked into the room, he tried to brush off the feeling.
"Hey Rednal. Soji. Nanako.....Zeo." he added lightly, trying to suppress a smirk on his face...before glancing around.
"Have...any of you seen Kusu today?" he asked, glancing around. "I..haven't seen her since....Well...Last night, and I was getting a bit worried.."
It was unusual for her to be missing for this long. Ditching school? Alright. Ditching Home? ...Not entirely unheard of, but still peculiar, but considering he hadn't gotten any messages of the sort..And the small crystal that normally showed him where she was was enshrouded in darkness....
Something seemed off..but he couldn't pinpoint what...
"So..what's the assignment you need done?" he added lightly to Nanako, trying to lighten the mood, and get his mind off of things. "I'll do my best to assist you, Milady."
A bit of a stretch on the title, but..they had to be silly to enjoy these things...Right?

Yasumoto KENSU
Bloods in the Rising Sun

As Kensu had arrived to where Soji's house was, he took a slight sigh. He had to make sure that he had all of his work done before he could help out with anyone else's, but with what uncertainty she had to finish for her work, he did his best to prepare. With a swift yet quiet knock and a turn of the doorknob afterwards, Kensu entered in the house. As he had entered in, he felt a chill in the air. Shivering a slight bit, he did his best to shake it off. Though he did feel a pair of eyes laid upon him, he shrugged it off, it probably just being the air being colder then his trek over. As he had viewed over the people that made it here before him, Kensu just waved and smiled. "Hello. I heard that there was someone that was needing of assistance with homework?"

"Alright, you need an embarrassing story, right? Well, I don't have many of those personally, since I'm such a bro, but this GUY I know..." Zeo glanced around a few times, before making sure that 'that guy' wasn't listening. "This guy I know wanted to confess to a girl, so one day he sees her at Junes. And he could have just walked up and asked her out, you know, be all 'Hey babe, lets make babies! Awwww yeah!'. But instead, he gets this incredible plan! He intends to go borrow the family helicopter, swoop in over top because what better way to show the babe he's literally and metaphorically heads and shoulders above other dudes, know what I'm saying? But he knows that's not enough, because this girl's really special, and they say that like 90% of your first meeting, well, it wasn't their first meeting but it was like the first time he'd asked her out...er, that day...anyways! He finds the former members of Journey, and while his butler Jee-uh, James, tells him that it's not a great plan and all, and that his family'll be super pissed, he pays them all a pretty exorbitant amount of money and gets them flown in on private jets for a one night reunion show...in helicopter...which they also complained was a stupid idea but SHUT UP JEEVES I have a plan! Uh..." Zeo sweatdropped as he looked around, hoping they didn't catch that last part. Uh, this was still about his friend, he was just projecting! I mean, no he wasn't! I mean, shuddup! "Anyways, so he gets Journey together, but he also hears that the best way to a person's heart is through the stomach! Which he'd argue is stupid, but then he's not exactly an expert on the human stomach due to uh...complications...so anyways, he calls in, get this; CHEF. Gordan. RAMSEY. That's right, the British jerk himself! But he's in the middle of filming the latest season of his famous show, so naturally my friend has to work things out with his producer, but money smooths everything over...and aaaaalso he had to bribe his bestest buddy Yosuke and a handful of workers to not inform his dad about all this. So things are set. He has the rooftop of the store redone overnight, Gordon Ramsey's arranging a special menu for the day for customers, and Journey's in a hotel nearby ready to arrive in a moment's notice.

That evening, after school lets out, the kid drops by Junes to scope out the babe-eh-heh, er, to take in the view...from the rooftop...when he spots his special girl. After a while sitting at the table, he can't work up the nerve to ask her out though...it's just, there are circumstances. Truth is, she has a crush on another guy, but my friend knows he's kind of a jerk, and that while they're not terrible together, my friend is her one true love! The only Don to be her Juan! You know what I'm saying? So he grabs a soda, gulps it down, and really begins to sweat...he imagines calling the whole thing off! But then he thinks back to something his guardian once told him. 'Damn it, did you buy ANOTHER helicopter!?'. It really stuck with him, you know. Because...yeah, he totally had crashed 8 helicopters already. And it was true she was mad he'd wrecked them...but he understood what she really meant. It wasn't that she was mad he'd crashed the helicopters...she was mad that he'd ever dreamed of not getting up again, and getting in that new helicopter! You see, that's what life is...it's just one big helicopter ride. And yeah sometimes you overload the thing with professional band equipment, and the motor burns out and you end up burying a half ton of steel and valuables in the Samegawa River, along with a priceless Ruby Necklace you planned to give the girl...but it's not about crashing. It's about getting back up again, dipping into your enormous life savings, and getting on a new helicopter! Or something.

So inspired by this, and with a dry glass of soda that Yosuke WOULDN'T REFILL for free even though we're BEST BUDS, and he should have TOTALLY done that, especially because I brought in freaking CHEF RAMSEY FROM ENGLAND to teach him to cook behind the grill, our protagonist finally went for it! Rising from his seat, he nodded towards the lights effects guy, and while the roof had a 'sudden power outage' except for one spotlight that focused perfectly on her table, illuminating the scene in a beautiful red tint that blended perfectly with her exotic hair, our friend got to the helicopter, which he made sure to properly account for the weight of this time, and took off! In a moment, he was more than four stories overhead, the accompaniment of Journey filling the air, with the sunset over picturesque Inaba at his back! He leaped from the doorway, landed at the foot of the table on top of Junes which I'll admit I realized later he could have just asked her and not taken a helicopter to, and knelt before the beauty!

It was perfect! The music! The mood! The meal! The atmosphere! It was like they were the only two in the world...partially because he'd made sure the rooftop was V.I.P. exclusive that day to help earn back some of the yen he'd spent hiring Chef GORDON. RAMSEY. ...and he knelt before her, extending his hand to the young lady. It was a moment so perfect, he hardly dared utter words to break the scene...but he was paying for both Journey and Gordon Ramsey and that was a lot of doe-per-hour down the drain. So he finally spoke, looking up at the beauty's eyes which reminded him why he'd known she was his soul mate in the first place...and he asked her, with all the joy in his heart, 'Will you go out with me?'. And you know what happened?"
Zeo paused. Because you know, apparently you didn't know what happened.

"She turned him down. Right there, in front of Journey, and Gordon Ramsey, he felt his heart crushed in the palm of her hand...and that's when he realized he hadn't worn a TUXEDO. DAMN IT, if I'd only worn a tuxedo I'm sure she would have said yes! Why did I let my fashion sense get the better of me, when I knew she was a classy girl? *Sob* Wwwhhyyyy....?" He was crying now. Oh, wow uh...this embarrassing story was over now though, right? They could...move on! "Rise whhhhhyy!? You were my soul maaattee. I know you care about senpai, but he's not right for you! HE'SNOTRIGHTFORYOU! Wwwwwwhhhhhyyyyyyy!? I even broke bro-cooooode. *sob sob*" Oh wow uh, okay, now it was getting embarrassing. Did he...wait, did he just confess to asking Rise out back when he first arrived in Inaba, despite promising Soji that he'd never do that because of the Bro Code? HE, who had once been a Bro Knight? Who could have imagined...

Soji Seta, Investigation Team Leader
"Show me a hero, and I will write you a tragedy"

It was already the middle of the afternoon, but it felt like it was late evening. It had been hours he had spent on the phone now, talking to other members of the Investigation Team, the Lodge that they would be staying at for the following evening, and of course, with his Uncle Dojima at work to smooth out the last of the details for the team's planned vacation to the Ski Resort that the Amagai Clan (and Genji, personally) had turned them onto. It wasn't exactly in the plans from the start to rent the whole lodge for themselves, but between the generous contribution (which made up the bulk of the expenses) from Genji and his father towards the plan and his own sizeable TV World fortune, they had more than enough to cover the costs for all of them for a single night. Minori had assured him that the food, the snacks, and the rentals would be taken care of between she and her berry-haired boyfriend, but there was still much to be done in preparation. Securing the rooms, making sure there would be enough rental equipment (and backups if they needed them) for the rest of the team, and the transportation were all still being finalized between himself and the other two who had taken on most of the work. But it was all finally starting to wind down as the day went on, morning shifted into afternoon, and he was on the first of two final phone calls leading into the trip that he had to make right now.

This one, he had to admit, was the hardest...

His ashen eyes shifted out to the streets of Inaba, lined faintly with the tinge of white snow all throughout the town, giving it an almost otherworldly look. He remembered how the snow fell after they had visited Nanako in the hospital last winter...how her pale skin in that tiny hospital bed had nearly matched the shade of the winter dew...and he pushed that memory aside for all the pain that it brought him. This winter...this Christmas...would be much different from the lonely Holidays of a year past. This year he would be surrounded by his friends, by people who loved him, and they were starting the season off right with this final chance to relax before things started to pick up in the world of the supernatural. Soji hadn't known this much peace in ages...constantly fighting, constantly struggling to stay on top of the enemies who constantly juggled for his attention and a chance at his life. How long had it been since he could just take three months and...rest? Relax? Sort out the things in his life that had become too complicated, spend time with the friends and family who were so precious to him, to figure out what his direction in a life without combat might actually be and with whom he wanted to spend it?

"...I understand. I'm sorry you can't make it," the silver-haired teen smiled a little weakly into the phone as he stood form the desk in his room, a sadness touching his eyes as he forced the uneasy smile on his lips into his voice, "I know things are busy for you, so I won't keep you. Still, it's nice to hear from you now and then. ...Teddie misses you too. ...Yeah, you know him. I won't mention what Zeo's been saying, though. ...Anyway, I hope we see you soon. Goodbye, Rise..."

Hanging up the phone, he watched the snowflakes fall slowly from the sky and thought about the events of about a month past, when one of the biggest loose ends of his life had finally been tied. Ever since his shadow had chided him back on the top of that Tower, it had made him think about so many things...not the least of which had been them, the two women who loved him more strongly than anyone. Though they were still teenagers, they had been through a lifetime of hardship together and come out closer, stronger on the other side of it. But unlike what his shadow had insisted, he knew that there was no good that could come from stringing out the decision any longer than he already had. It wasn't fair to create a competition between two friends, two people whose hearts were on the line, all because he couldn't make a choice between the wonderful thing he'd had and the beautiful relationship that his heart seemed to gravitate towards every time he let his mind drift to the possibilities. In the end, he had to choose...he wasn't the type to let it linger...wasn't cruel, or greedy, or selfish. He was just a young man, one who had lived and suffered and fought his share of battles and only wanted something precious to hold onto when it was all said and done...someone precious.

He picked up his phone one last time and his sad little smile grew just a little more genuine. His eyes again found the snow...and idly, he thought about the elegant beauty as he watched the flakes fall slowly go the Earth all around him. And he dialed the last number on his list.

"Hello? Yukiko, hey..."
