Jordan squinted in the sudden brightness; as his eyes adjusted, his expression went blank, falling into a neutral mask. His eyes flicked to Cass, then to Dakota and Wilson and the tiny hand on Dakota's leg. There was dark liquid splashed on the floor, but no body and no blood.
"Who were you expecting?" he asked the girls.

Dakota literally got the chills as the hand moved up his leg and paused there. Shaking it off, he sighed in relief as Cass and Jordan appeared, no longer leaving hiim alone with the stupid death trainee and-
Three girls?
"Seriously what the ******** is even going on right now?" It seemed with all the hand getting its jimmy's, Dakota had slowly reverted to pissed off and very unhelpful mode.
"Somebody tell me why I just got my leg molested by three little girls please?"

“…” Wilson remained silent as he let his gear clatter to the floor. He gave the little girls skeptical looks while he tried to let his eyes adjust to the light. When he looked down at the liquid he tried not to imagine what it could possibly be. Instead, Wilson stared at the severed hand then back at the children. “Why…do you have a severed hand?”

"Uh, duuhhh? They were hanger ons anyway." One of the girls said loudly in the direction of Cass, rolling her eyes in an exaggerated fashion. "And it's obviously not you. Thanks for ruining eeeeverything," she added to Jordan, crossing her arms and summoning an icy glare. Which, on her, looked completely ridiculous in her attempt to be Very Serious. "And don't be such a BAY-BEE" She added to Dakota before marching over and snatching the (fake) severed hand. She proceeded to wiggle the hand towards Wilson as she added, "What does it look like? You were supposed to frrrrrEAK out when you saw this. Good job failing at that. You guys suck." One of the other girls came forward and moved in front of her. "No, wait. Wait. Wait guys, I got this. I'm a professional. You might want to... ah... Turn around."
"What? Why?"
"Just do it!"
"No!"
"Do it!"
"Make me!"
"I won't help you get back at your sister!"
"Fiiine." The first girl whispered back fiercely, marching over to the third girl. She grabbed her armed and turned her around until they were both facing the wall, abet sulkily. The girl who remained facing the hunters grinned. It wasn't a natural grin. In fact, it seemed to stretch wider and wider as the room began to darken. The darkness seemed to gather around her as she began to levitate, her skin growing pale as her mouth grew wider and wider. Her teeth grew sharper, eyes blackening into two prinpricks of yellow light as her simple yellow night dress seemed to decay, pieces dropping off of her and falling to the ground. The pieces of fabric began to twist and morph, turning into maggots that squirmed and crawled towards the hunters. With a voice that reverberated and bubbled with a disgusting hiss it spoke: "Boo."The OOC Not-human child attempted to use scare! On a scale of 1 to 100, it's not very effective. What will you do?

The transformation wasn't unexpected, and while the maggots made Jordan grimace, he wasn't particularly alarmed. He rested Ferros over his shoulder and gave the girl a flat, unimpressed stare. "Do your parents know you're here, kiddo? If you're scaring without a license, it's not gonna be you who gets in trouble. It's gonna be your family. And I sure as hell bet you're going to get your butt tanned when they find out you ran into Hunters over your little prank."
Risky. And risky pulling this on Cass, all things considered, but if they could get out of this without more of a fight ... and he wasn't completely sure all three of the children were Halloween creatures.

Cass's brows lifted at the given sarcasm aimed at her. So basically the kids weren't going to be pulled back into the crossfire, were they?.. But wasn't one of the girl's still missing? She passed a look towards the boys, shrugged a bit, then just pointed Nicodemus and fired.
It wasn't a real shot, but more of a warning shot, meant to just fly past the head, graze. Not to damage, but Cass's level of tolerance was starting to wane, and if these kids wanted to see her running scared, they'd chosen the wrong girl, the wrong location.
"Not very original, hun. I've seen worse."

Wilson leaned back as the girl wiggled the arm at him. “Sorry…?” he answered, looking taken back. He turned toward Jordan and Cass, hoping that one of them (or even both) would have an idea of what to do next.
The girls began to talk to each other and he intently watched the one in front smile. His expression barely changed even when her teeth sharpened and the maggots crawled toward them. Wilson idly kicked a couple of the bugs away. “I think it was a pretty solid attempt.” Not really.

"So sorry I didn't appreciate the hand job." Dakota seethed before sighing.
He watched them as they turned away and then, even as they turned around to attempt to scare at them. Of course...it was really nothing compared to what they dealt with before.
"It could use a little something more..." he whispered and stuck his hands in his pockets. Dakota pout on.

As Jordan addressed the girl-that-was-a-monster, the girl herself tilted her head to one side and stared. "Uh... what? What are you even talking about? And for the record, "hunters" is a pretty lame name. It's like, whoo we're gonna hunt and stuff, yeah! Not.. very impressive." The child-like creature attempted to return the unimpressed stare, failing and cringing when Cass fired her warning shot. The Fear in the area dropped down dramatically as the child retained her ghastly appearance, yet it felt more... contained around her. The creature shot a pleased look towards Wilson and ignored Dakota completely. "Okay. Fine then. I'll try again." This time the creature's eyes rolled up into its head as its body seemed to rapidly decompose. The lightens flickered before going out, followed by the sounds of many tiny mice-like feet skittering. A shrill, high-pitched scream sounded out from nearby before suddenly being shut off. In a moment, the lights flickered back on. The girls were gone; the house was quiet. It was almost... too quiet, save for the loud creak of the door opening slowly behind them. The OOC Not-human child attempted to use scare! On a scale of 1 to 100, it's enough to make you stop and take a step back while feeling cold. And now they're gone. What will you do now?

A chill shot through Jordan's body, and he tensed up, taking an involuntary step back; Ferros growled softly in response to the jolt of emotion. When the lights came back on and he saw that the girls had vanished, he grimaced and opened his mouth to say something.
The creak of the door interrupted him, and he turned quickly, bringing Ferros down off his shoulder into a ready stance.

The scream didn't get her. The light's turning out didn't get her, and yet the second the cold chill shot through Cass's body, a different instinct suddenly shot on as well, her eyes narrowing as her hand gripped Nicodemus more tightly, turning to look towards that door that had just begun to creep open.
She turned towards the door, then gave another glance back towards the room. Looking towards Jordan, she noticed he was paying attention to the door, which prompted Cass to keep her attention in towards the room.
She wasn't going to have anybody's back exposed.
Keep your head, Cassandra. Keep your head......
Was she telling herself that or was Nicodemus reminding her that she kind of was prone to flipping her s**t when ghosts were involved?
"I know this sounds stupid, but I think right now our best course of action is to close that door. If the kids are still in here somehow, that keeps them trapped with us, if they're out there, we have a second to think of a battle strategy before the door opens again..."

The sudden scream jolted the moon hunter, his eyes narrowing as the lights blacked out. Goosebumps spread over his skin as Chama was out again, held up and ready for defense.
Of course the lights came back on and the girls were gone, the door creaking lightly. Dakota looked over at it and sighed.
"s**t s**t s**t." Dakota mumbled over his breath and looked at Cass, "I got it." The stance was purely defense as he slowly made his way over to the door. hand reaching for it.

[Anklebiters. All of them.] They’re not…that bad. Wilson stared at the girl as she gave him a pleased look before the lights went out. He heard the soft skittering and he murmured to himself. That was wonder— Wilson nearly jumped at the scream before it stopped suddenly. [Not bad.] Wilson frowned. Once the lights flickered back on he searched the room for the children.
“Dakota, be careful.”

Cass didn't relax, despite the fact that nothing was happening, her eyes darting to every corner of the room. Okay. So...
"There's a real possibility the staircase is still gone. If so, our options are scour the upstairs to see if they're here, or see if there's a window we can open and possibly climb out to go back to the first floor." she frowned. "Or do one then the other."
Or she could see if there was a lighter in her bag and check to see if burning the whole house down was an option. Somehow she had a feeling Aria wouldn't really like it if she was burning down at risk local, though.
