"Oh. Well I'm glad you didn't shock me..."
Hopefully that came across as the joke Belladonna intended for it to be.
In any event, she let out a small noise as Mort began to move, but shifted back so he could roll over. Misinterpreting it as an agreement to cuddle, Belladonna waited for him to settle before she squeezed herself into the crook of his arm, her head rested on his chest. The thoughts from before, the ones that threatened her with his lack of affection tried to return, but for the moment they could wait.
"I slept fine! Thanks." Partially confused as to why Mort was asking such a strange question, Belladonna only shrugged it off before she nestled a bit closer. "Well Lanna woke me, so I decided to wake you! I thought maybe you were used to waking at these times... But I guess not, sorry... You said you wanted to go back to sleep, so I decided I would too... But I thought maybe we could cuddle."

It was light, possibly imperceptible to the boil, but Belladonna relaxed her cuddle, her head coming off his chest by just the slightest of hairs. The thoughts from before returned, and since she had slept well, the witch figured it might be as good a time as any to question him.
"Is that ok? That I cuddle you, I mean... I know you, um... Don't really... Like it."
It wasn't said with any malice or in a tone of accusation, just said a little quietly. Moreover, it was said with a great worry that it was true. Their attempted make out session had failed horrifically, so maybe he really didn't want to cuddle or kiss or hug or anything like that. Which would have been rather devastating for Belladonna, really. Once depraved of affections from her sisters (and partially her parent's), she was bit starved for the love now. So if Mort really didn't want to participate, he'd better speak up now.

Wait, he'd said something prior? Huh. Mort blinked owlishly, unable to recollect the event but having no intention of debating it. "Would have better chance've shocking i-if had something conductive on: like Lanna's fur. Also, bad Lanna," he chided the foxfire, lifting his head briefly to give her a half-heartedly stern look. "Bad. Let people sleep or will punish next time."

Lanna gave a little affronted look in response, but her tail was still wagging. Her owner had never given her discipline, not really; it was an empty threat as far as she was concerned.

With a soft wumph Mort let his head fall back on the pillow, glancing at Belladonna as she spoke, frowning slightly. "N-Never said that," he answered. "Was just, ah . . . Didn't want t-to risk another 'event'. Wasn't so much cuddles than was fear've biting again. Thought keeping control, keeping distance, would be best." Also no bra doesn't help, he failed to mention, because it was probably rude to. In hindsight, though, his behavior probably didn't reflect well on her . . .

But a just woken Mort was more optimistic than a regular one and, well, it was a new day with new chances. What better way to start a day than with cuddles? So with a grunt Mort eased himself into a sitting position, yawned, and then lightly tousled the hair she'd worked to keep organized with a drowsy smile; not that he could tell without his glasses really. "But, cuddles it is. For future reference zombies, er, aren't morning people. Would probably sleep t-til noon if could help it. But know is day of prom prep, so . . . will give up nap for worthy cause."

Now would have been the time to pull her to his side, but Mort was still honestly nervous that he would, again, grab something he shouldn't. Actually he should've been fishing for glasses, but the zomboil's schedule had shifted to prioritize cuddling first - he didn't need to see for that anyway.

The wumph momentarily dislodged the witch's head so that she somewhat wumped back onto his chest, but she still didn't move.
"Well, if you worry too much about it, it'll just happen sooner. You'll get so wound up that you'll loose control faster." Here she inserted a small tap on his chest and a pout she hide. "But if you want to bite, just don't bite my face. My neck, perhaps..."
Oh, oh that was the opposite of what she needed to say. Whoops. To cover up this slight blight on her part, the witch flailed her hands a little excitedly as the idea of cuddles and buried her head further into his chest. Anymore happiness and she'd be boring a hole into him. Poor Mort, he'd have to get used to this whole cuddling thing soon. Or at least get over it.

"They're not? And noon! My goodness! I couldn't get a thing done if I slept until noon..." Belladonna replied with a sincerely shocked expression. Now that he was sitting up, she reached around and behind him to grab his glasses and offer them to him. Not someone who wore them, the witch figured they were needed as soon as one woke.
At the mention of prom, Belladonna couldn't help but bounce a little. A smile bloomed on her face and she tapped a finger to her chin.
"We should eat breakfast and then go back to my room. I can do some sketches and start doing the drafting. I'll need to take your measurements too."
The witch smiled up at him, almost silently begging him to hug her, give her a peck, anything. Unfortunately, she was a bit like Lanna in that regard. She was in constant need of affection, of any kind.

Bells did have a point: worrying overmuch made mountains out of molehills. "Will try not to," he agreed with a nod, taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly to calm himself. No biting. alright. He got dis.

The neck comment, however, warranted a small, squint-eyed scowl. "Am not a vampire: brains're so much better than blood," he stated with a huff, though when offered his glasses he warmed up again because Jackdamn, it was hard to stay even annoyed at that face. Ah, clarity of vision at last~ He felt vulnerable without them.

Mort rewarded her by curling his arms around her waist for cuddles - not that he had to hold tight, what with the witch practically burrowing into him in her quest for affection. He was pretty sure Bells could feel each of his ribs now, and . . . Jack, measurements? Couldn't he just give her the numbers and skip the removal of clothes? Give enough pressure and she could probably create a new hole, which he really didn't want to start the morning off with.

"Easy, Bells, easy," he murmured with a little smile, trying subtly to not let her press so hard. "M'not going anywhere. M-Might not have to breathe, but doesn't mean have to plaster to. Is cuddles, not bear hug've life or death." Lightly pushing back some of her hair, Mort planted a kiss on her forehead - which he had deemed safer than her lips - to try and assuage her need in case Bells tried even harder to breach through his shirt. "Now, er, m'not a-all that hungry, but if wait 'til showered then will come with. Something to bring to your room so can eat while working?" he suggested, ever in want of doing all the things at once. "Or, uh . . . you go ahead to drafting in room while I get us food."

Wait, he was close to broke. Jackdamn it.

"I-If take that option, lets you go and shower n' change n' stuff, have some time to self," Mort continued anyway. "Would, ah, want you getting sick've me so soon."

At his rather unhappy reply about vampires, Belladonna couldn't help but giggle quite a bit. She slapped a hand to her mouth to stop them, but it was just so funny. She hadn't meant that at all, but zombies were very proud folk so the witch figured it was alright to laugh. To express her apology, Belladonna pressed a kiss to the place his heart should be, though it was quickly followed by another giggle.
Yet finally, finally, he held her back and Belladonna relaxed her grip on him, somewhat. The feeling of having affection returned, of knowing that he didn't hate her, of the cool sensation of his arm around her... To say that Belladonna was a bit giddy would have been an understatement of the grandest kind. Instead, the witch only let out the tiniest sigh of joy and finally relaxed. Later on she would scold herself for being so forward, for pushing him so much, but for now... For now she would just enjoy it.

"Sorry... Early morning cuddler." She mumbled in way of explanation, but only relaxed against him a little more. Note to witchy-self: Don't death grip. OK!
As for all those options, Belladonna only smiled contentedly at the kiss.
But it passed quickly and she figured it'd be best to have a shower and prepare for the day. To that Belladonna gave one more tiny squeeze before she broke her grip on Mort and rose to her feet.
"It'd be best for me to head back and have a shower, so I'll do that. But don't worry about breakfast, I'll get it handled. There's this really amazing place that delivers to the dorms!" Here the witch paused and cast about for a piece of paper. "Do you know what you want, I'll take your order... They have any and everything you could ever want!" Oh, it was a delightful place full of scrumptious food. It would be difficult for Belladonna to resist all the candy dishes so early in the morning, but she would try her best!

"So, meet me back at my room in an hour. If you have a particular style of pants you'd like to wear for prom and have something similar, wear those. That way I can just take the measurements off them and not have to get all..." Here she inserted a hand gesture that was wiggly fingers in the vicinity of Mort, "Into your, er, space." Chest and shoulders were fine, but pants? She certainly wasn't ready for that area just yet... Plus taking the inseam measurement and out seam measurement was such a pain! Short girls had the hardest time with it...

"Early morning cuddler" was probably putting it lightly, but Mort smiled nonetheless. Ironically the less intensely she clutched at him, the tighter his grip grew. He didn't want to let her go now that cuddles had been initiated: sitting like this was one the few times they could look at each other eye to eye without height getting in the way. Maybe he should have shut his mouth about leaving and just enjoy it...After all, the only one who should be allowed to give death grip hugs should be the one actually had it as a racial ability. Still, Mort remained conscious enough not to actually death grip her (as it had no romantic connotation really), instead waiting until after her literal heartfelt kiss before allowing himself to sneak an extra in himself - on the cheek this time.

"Still had glitter," he commented a bit cheekily, no pun intended, as he reluctantly let her stand up. He followed soon after, several more pops accomanying the movement as he found the lightswitch and flipped it. "Ah...so have braincon then?" Mort asked, shuffling to the drawers to pull one open and hand her a fresh sheet of looseleaf, pen coming soon after. "Like bacon, but with grey matter. Would love whole platter of it as meal. Know that, er, is being generous, so...thanks."

He made a silent promise to be good during the dressing, seeing as he had no money to pay her back with at the moment. At the option of bringing clothes, he nodded, relieved that at least /that/ wouldn't have to be addressed. "RIght. Will go digging once you go. If am late, er...SLow feet," he added a bit sheepishly.

Suddenly reluctant to leave, Belladonna hesitated a bit under his hug before she finally slipped free. Immediately she wished she hadn't, but it was too late. Her acceptance to go was rewarded with a kiss on the cheek, so the witch decided not to feel altogether too upset over it. Perhaps it was a bit of a lesson too. The less she pushed, the more he come to her. Alright, fine! She'd try it then!
"Glitter never goes away." Mumbled the witch as she rubbed her cheek, slightly self-conscious. Hopefully she hadn't spread the stuff all over his bed and pillows too. "Err, I don't really know if they have braincon, but I'm sure they do! I just... Have never ordered it before..." Not wanting to deadpan into "Because I don't eat it.", Belladonna only inserted a small giggle. That seemed... Better.
With a few quick loops of the pen, Belladonna had the order all written down, even with little hearts by Mort's name.

"Its no problem! Sometimes my hair takes forever to dry, so if it takes you longer than an hour, no worries." Belladonna bundled up Lanna into one last quick hug before she put her down and turned toward her clothing. "Can I borrow this shirt until you come by later? I'd really rather not re-lace my corset again... It can be such a pain." A little belatedly the witch realized she shouldn't be discussing her undergarments with her boilfriend, so she hastily grabbed up her dress and looped the petticoat's band around her elbow.

"See you in an hour!" She chirruped with a nervous giggle, afraid she had undone all the work from before. No more being awkward! Quick on her feet, Belladonna pressed a kiss to his cheek (unwilling to kiss his mouth with unbrushed teeth), before she waved frantically and dashed down the hall. Surely, Binx would be a horrid wreck without her, all claws and spats as she got angry at her for staying the night (in a boil's room no less!) so Belladonna was eager to get back and get it all done and over with.

Given how much hair the witch had, Mort didn't question "forever". He never would have been able to keep up with long locks - his original hobo scrag (as Ramona called it) would have been snipped off eventually once he grew too lazy to keep it up. "Yeah, go ahead," he replied with a little nod, casting a glance at said corset and wondering how the hell someone invented such an article of clothing. "See you in a hour!" Lanna yipped her own goodbye before he shut the door, pressed his back against it, and pinched a cheek.

Nope, still there. This wasn't a dream.

"Watch for Brian," Mort told the foxfire as he went to his closet and began to dig around for more than just a spare set of clothes.

In the end it took Mort forty-five minutes to shower, deodorize, and change as he wanted to not reek Bella's room up (and even as a second year he still was antsy about completely submerging himself in water and thus scrubbed parts systematically normally; today he vigorously scrubbed each area twice), and an extra ten minutes to locate some things. In the end he settled for nondescript gym clothes, a gray shirt and workout pants he favored, and slid a pair of jeans among a few other things into the duffle bag that was then slung over his shoulder. Lanna was calm as usual, so no sig of the dragie then. He tousled her fur, murmured a goodbye, and set off to the reaper dorms across campus.

One hour and ten minutes after they parted, Mort knocked on her door, nostrils flared for the smell of brains.

Indeed, Binx had been a bit... Over-excited to see the witch return safely. His exuberance of emotion was expressed through his claws as he crawled up the witch's side onto her shoulder and only left once she went to shower.
Everything else went fairly smoothly, as was fortunate for Belladonna! She managed to get a stall and shower easily, her hair didn't feel like fighting her altogether too much and all the gobs of food she ordered arrived hot and steaming and smelling too delicious for her to ignore. So, she was a little bit bad and nibbled on a piece of toast before Mort got there.
What did not go well for the poor witch was her sewing materials. Her sewing machine didn't fell like cooperating, so when she turned it on, it only ignored her. When she tried to find her sketch book, it eluded her grasp. And when she decided to just grab a few sheets of drafting paper, they ripped right down the middle.
It was all so infuriating that Belladonna could scream.

So she did. Just as there came a knock on the door.
Binx let out a long growl from her shoulder, but didn't move.
"You be nice to him!" Belladonna warned as she darted to the door and threw it open. "UM. That scream was, um, me. I got... Frustrated. But come eat some fooooood-nooooo Binx!"
The little cat attempted to scratch the boil, but Belladonna only clutched him to her chest and threw Mort the most apologetic face she could.
"Just ignore him! Your food is on the desk... Come in!"
Ughhhh, this couldn't be worse.

The scream made him jump, and he still looked a bit surprised when she flung the door open; that was not a sound he hoped to ever hear again. "Errrr." He didn't even flinch the Binx raised his claws at him, only blinked as Bells kept the cat away. "Frustrated about what?" Mort asked as he stepped in, immediately drawn to the platter of food.

Oh Jack, brains. BRAINSSSSSS. How long had he gone without them now, a month? No no, something closer to two he remembered: as an experiment of willpower, to show that he was above his cravings. Really he shouldn't have asked for braincon since he was doing so well, but . . . biting her last night had made him wonder if he was subconsciously trying to find a replacement. And here he was, willpower crumbling at the smell. Better prepared food than his ghoulfriend's flesh, though, he decided. Just one platter. One day. He could handle a small taste, right?

He set the duffle bag down by his feet and began to munch on the braincon, trying his best not to give in and just stuff the lot down his throat like an animal.

"Sewing is going a bit... Odd today is all, no worries!" The witch replied in a high voice as she shuffled Mort in with one hand and kept Binx close to her with the other. He had stopped his growling, but his tail flicked quickly behind her in a manner that suggest he was not at all pleased. But there was little to be done in the situation as Mort did as instructed and dug into the breakfast. Unable to resist as well, Belladonna set the cat on the bed with a stern "Behave!" before she followed suit. Her own breakfast was a mix of various foods, some yogurt with granola, an egg on the side and a few pieces of toast drizzled in a candy corn syrup. Ooohhh, the witch could have melted with the deliciousness of it all.

She wanted to talk, but every time she tried, she only replied with mumbled phrases and incomprehensible words.
Instead, Binx took this time to complain.
"Have you any idea of the trouble you've caused?" He asked both of them, his eyes slitted. "You could have gotten in horrendous trouble for staying in the other's room over night. I am fairly certain that is against school rules." His tail flicked angrily, but Belladonna only replied with a garbled "Don't be so stuffy. It was fun."
She shared a smile with Mort, but only continued to stuff her face. Yay, food~

Normally Mort would be set off by the gruff cat, but today he felt a little more impervious to Binx's scowl than usual. "Baaah. Lots've people do it," he replied with a casual wave as he finished the last of the braincon, sighing with pleasure as he licked two fingers clean of residual juice. Mort remembered the time he had went to check on LW and had run into her boilfriend as well, and Jack knew Freya probably spent as much time in Herryk's room as she did in her own. He shared Bella's conspiring grin just to rile the cat up more. "Not like anything bad happened, right, Bells?"

After all, it wasn't like the boobs thing was something he could hold her against. Don't sweat the small stuff, right? Though nothing about that matter had been small . . .

"So, odd like how?" Mort prompted as the witch tucked her food in. "You, er, screamed right when I came. M-Must've been big deal. Holds up operations for today? Could always try taking look at it if not working." Did Mort know anything about the machinations of sewing machines? Nope. Was he going to pass up a chance to be Mr. Fix It? Also nope.

Suddenly impervious to his glares, Binx felt quite rightly miffed the Mort no longer feared the cat. Or even displayed any signs of hesitation about him. This displeased Binx greatly.
At the idea of nothing "bad" happening, his tail fluffed out into a strange, hair-on-end thing and he sputtered for a moment. Then he growled once, turned and darted out the window. Well, first he had to open the window, which didn't work and eventually Belladonna shuffled over and opened it for him. But once open he did quite a lot of huffing on his way out.
"Prude." Belladonna decided as she finished her last bite of breakfast. She eyed one more piece of toast, but instead turned to Mort.

"Ohhhhh. My sewing machine won't turn on. Its plugged in and everything, but when I flip the switch... Nothing."
Alright, just one more piece of toast. The witch nibbled at it for a moment, but paused when Mort offered to look at her machine.
"Oh, please do! Without it, I'll have to use the machine back in the home eekonomics room and they're nice, but... Not my machine." Hopefully her understood the complexities of having one's own machine that one knew backwards and front. Sewing machines were all vastly similar, but they were all slightly different too.
As for everything else going wrong, Belladonna finally lifted a plate from her desk and found her sketchbook. With a shout of glee she brandished it to the boil, then flopped onto her bed with a pencil and quickly started sketching.

"Any specifics you'd like on your outfit?" She asked with a cheeky grin as she hastily sketched up their outfits.

The sight of the flustered feline made his grin all the more devlish. Aw yeah. One cat wasn't going to ruin it for him. He actually did a fist pump once Binx fled out the window, because even little victories like this boosted his confidence.

"Not really," Mort said as he stood to go take a look at the machine. Turning it this way and that, he pondered over the possible problems - it reminded him of the broken coffee machine Gene had given him, only...less outwardly messed up."Only...Was thinking, knight might be hard for pulling off. Don't want to buy breastplate for prom, y'know?"

m
"
More like he didn't want to stand out. Or use more of her seeds than necessary.

"Maybe should just stick to t-typical gentleman attire, let you shine for the night." He pressed a slot on the sewing machine open and peered at the wires, touching one lightly to check...something. He wouldn't say, only continued to touch the wires one at a time, feel for some sort of vibe before, at length, clenching a couple and delivering a small shock. The machine sputtered.

Satisfied, Mort placed it back on the table and plugged it in. "Try now. How old is it? M-Might have to get few replacements soon, it looked overworked."

A small chuckle escaped the witch at the fist pump as the witch quickly finished off her toast. Alright! Time to work!
"No breastplate, got it!" The witch twittered as she threw more lines on the paper. Not once did she look up at the boil, her sole focus the idea of sketching out their outfits. "That's very kind of you, but I'll shine regardless. I am a beacon of light, no matter what I wear." She had meant it as a jest, but it came a bit more... Dramatic than she had intended. But really, she sort of was. When things got rough, or people got hurt, she reached out to them and helped them up. Even if this was all fanciful thought, Belladonna liked the idea that she could shine despite the darkness.

Yet when the small shock electrocuted the machine, Belladonna hopped up and rushed over to the machine. She situated herself on the chair and placed a delicate toe on the pedal. The machine whirred softly and after a heavy moment of uncertainty, the needle began move up and down. The witch let out a triumphant shout before she jumped up and pressed a heady kiss to Mort's mouth.
"You're the best!"
Since she didn't need the machine quite yet, she returned to her sketchbook, but didn't immediately resume her sketching. "Yeah, I do a lot of sewing... That one's starting to get worn. I might try to save my allowance and get a new one soon..." It would take a lot of saving, but Belladonna was sure she could do it. Just no shopping for a few months! That was easy, right?
"Hmmm... Is blue and black a good color combination for you?"
