Akaya watched the compassionate green work to comfort those concerned and fearful by the events prior to her eggshell breaking, breathing a little sigh of relief. A mellower green was good. Even if she might accidentally be disappointing those she was trying to help but making them think she might be Theirs...well, it was more good done than bad, anyway.

Aaaaaw, the little green looked to be just as sweet now as she had seemed back at the Touching. At first, like many, Roeline had thought that she was Impressing the boy she first greeted. As she moved away and did the same for another, however, the true nature of the little dragon's encouragement bcame clearer. So so cute... Was she allowed to give her a hug back if the other were to come and hug her first? Perhaps she should have asked these things of the Candidate master before the Hatching...
She sniffled and wiped her eyes dry once more, casting a final glance after the boy who had been carried away by the Healers. She didn't personally know him, but... she really hoped he would be ok. She'd never actually seen anyone get injured enough at a Hatching to be in danger of death before. It made the injuries sustained among the girl Candidates seem rather light in comparison...

The green waddled around, nosing hands here, rubbing against legs there, touching and comforting and encouraging everyone she came into contact with. With a whirling blue and green gaze and a look of concern in her features, the new dragon seemed to know hers was out there but was taking her very sweet time finding him or her.

Lena was still betting on a healer for this green, or perhaps someone just inclined to nurture. At least she did not seem to want to go anywhere other than wading amongst the candidates. Even if she took her time to find them, at least she was seemingly assured they were present? It was bad enough to lose one dragon in this clutch. To lose another would be disastrous.
---- E'lai smiled softly, to see the green so personable and so intent on comforting others. Even if the hope of Impressing her might fade for those she'd moved on from, at least they had the memory of her touch and friendly churrs to continue to comfort them? He just hoped there wasn't much violence in store in the rest of the hatchlings remaining, but one was hardly ever that lucky...

Despite the dark turn that the Hatching had taken, S'koi had to give a faint smile at the green walking around trying to cheer everyone up. It was a valient effort and one that was very much necessary. The Weyr was very much in need of more compassionate and caring individuals. It also helped that this dragonet didn't seem to be in any distress herself, so it seemed unlikely that she too would be disappearing Between.

Allaxon had to prevent himself from keening along with the gold at the little green vanishing between, it was too bad she could not find hers among those assembeled. The loss was slightly balanced as another more cheerful green hatched and trailed goo all over her mother.
Allaxon watched the other eggs too, wondering which would hatch as he glanced at the new green on the sands. He was really sorry for the boy who had been taken out on a stretcher, his moment on the sands of Pern postponed until he could stand again.

Siano had stepped swiftly out of the way of the violent green and so avoided a mauling. Her eyes never left the poor hatchling until she went between. Saddened but knowing the hatchling may be better off there instead of living a half life without hers here.
She looked to the other eggs and hoped fervently that they stayed and found theirs.

"She's a sweet one, isn't she?" Akaya said to S'koi, noticing his slight smile. "Morale boosting is certainly a full time duty, in our times." Threadfall had only just begun - if the green and whomever she chose could stay this kind, the weyr could only benefit.

Yes, that one is a good hatchling, Pipith agreed, mostly for the sake of agreeing. But it is a pity about the other. He preferred the feisty, exciting ones, who were far more entertaining to watch. He appreciated the sweet ones much better later, when they were older.
Still, the green was soothing the Candidates, and there was something to be said for that.

Well, one this was for sure, this Hatching certainly wasn't dull. G'brel watched the nice green wander around the Sands with mild disinterest, her mind instead focused on all of the recent action that had just taken place. It was never pleasant when a dragon went between, but boy must it suck to be one of the Candidates down there who had been injured in the morning's events. Good thing Lifth had been born a few years back; even if the circumstances of the time around his clutch were not necessarily all that great in of themself.
There will always be trouble and strife in some form or another. I don't think it's something that can be avoided.
Fair enough, the brunette agreed, glancing briefly up at her blue. Doesn't mean we have to let it keep us down though, right? There wouldn't even be happy of fun times if everyone always focused on the tragedies.

The green rose up on her hind legs after searching the nearest ranks and crooned, having spotted Hers at long last. She didn't move however, Impressing from a far as she caught Allaxon's gaze and chirruped at the boy. Allaxonmine! Here is your Empreth! Do not be so sorrowful! Yours is here. At that, she bounded on over and, upon meeting the boy, offered him a big dragon-hug, Yours is very hungry, Mine. With the last dragon currently hatched Impressed, all gazes turned towards the protective gold and her still half-unhatched clutch. A few heartbeats passed, then another and then moments passed and no further eggs cracked to reveal any dragons. Either half the clutch were atypicals or half the clutch were duds! Irritated, and satisfied that the clutch was finished, Brakiath thumped her tail against the ground hard enough to leave a cloud of dust and sand in the air. It caused the eggs to bounce and tip of her tail smack against the Erupting Egg, breaking it. There was a sickening splat and ooze flowed out onto the sands. Startled, Brakiath lifted her tail and found nothing inside - at least not now - and gingerly flicked the dud out of the way with a snort. It sailed through the fair and shattered upon impact, landing a short distance before the candidates. She rumbled again, eyes whirling orange once more. Around them, unrest settled into the ranks. Without Abigail, this was trickiest at best.... how would the odd eggs be handled?

The light colored green had been moving about and finally it seemed she impressed...to HIM!
Allaxonmine! Here is your Empreth! Do not be so sorrowful! Yours is here.
A beautiful pressence entered his mind and he knew he would never be alone again. As a dawning joy filled his heart. The beautiful green bounded to him and offered him a hug which he took gratefully and with so much joy. She was the most precious, caring little thing and so full of life and happiness that it brought tears to his eyes.
Yours is very hungry, Mine.
"Oh! Yes of course, right this way my beautiful princess and we shall get you something to fill your emptiness straight away." Allaxon finally let his pretty girl go and stroked a loving hand over her neck. He couldn't believe it! He got the sweetest dragon in the clutch! She had chosen him of all people. He was delighted and escorted her to the meat tables where he found only the best cuts of food for her, trimming any nasty bits because they certainly wouldn't do for his green princess.
"Empreth, I'm so glad you are here!" He said with glee as he filled her open mouth with a correct sized meat for her to enjoy.
Oh yes mine, I found you and I love you! And oh! That one over there, yes that piece looks delightful, if you please would you get it for me?
Allaxon hopped up and quickly grabbed the coveted piece that had caught her eye. "Here you are my sweet," he said as he cleaved it in two, giving her the first half with an adoring smile. He was whole. with her he was whole!

It was...it was a dud? There was nothing but ooze inside the smashed egg! How was that possible, when the presence inside had been so clear at the Touching? Shouldn't there be something inside it but goo? Nawa was absolutely mystified, but at the same time, she was glad. She wouldn't have wanted to see a stillborn dragonet laying on the Sands.
But what was to happen now? She swallowed hard and waited.

Lena was as surprised as most of the others in the Stands when the clutch was still...silent, even...after the green's Impression. That was half the clutch still lying there! Yes, it'd been a short Flight by all accounts and the eggs were overall quite small, but... She couldn't help but wince as the mother queen's tail struck one of the eggs quite hard, enough to send ooze out. But...no dragon? A dud then. One sent sailing through the air to smash into pieces, and Lena hoped the Candidates below had the sense to cover themselves from possible shell debris. The last thing anyone needed was an injury from that.
"...will she hit the rest of them, d'ya think?" Lena mused, brows furrowed. Or someone brave could attempt the Weyrwoman's usual shovel trick. Or would the eggs have to Impress from within, as she'd heard some of them could in certain situations - that white at Malvren had, right? - and then Brakiath might allows Theirs to extricate them from their shell prisons?

Oh good, it looked like the nice green had found Hers! Perhaps she could claim a hug from her another time then.
After the green's Impression, all eyes turned back towards the remaining eggs as they waited for them to hatch. ... And waited. ... Were there really so many atypicals in this clutch? Before Roeline could begin to question what they should be doing next, Brakiath thumped her tail on the ground and accidentally broke one of the eggs herself. Except-- ooze?! But... but how? She remembered that egg searching her so intently at the Touching-- surely it couldn't just be a dud! But, there was no dragon inside... Needless to say, Roeline was now very much confused. Was it possible she had been feeling an egg other than the one she was touching? But that didn't really make much sense either... So many questions now.
