Agrona held the man's gaze, his eyes glinting in conflict with himself. She watched as he opened his mouth as if to speak, though no words left him.

A wicked grin pulled at the corners of her lips as the man began to shake.

Anger invaded her expression as the sound of a bar fight erupted near by, her head moving to get a better look as the man who had recently entered engaged in the first full-fledged bar fight of the evening.

She watched with mild amusement as one of the humans was lifted into the air by an invisible force, his struggles rewarded with being thrown into one of the pub's walls. A small ring of onlookers had gathered a safe distance from them, their cheers egging on a second leather-clad human male as he lunged toward his companion's assailant with a knife drawn.

Agrona returned her attention to the Peacekeeper and leaned toward him.

"What do you say," she began, her mouth scarcely an inch from his ear as the sound of shattering glass filled the pub, "to finding somewhere a bit less... populated so we might continue our chat in peace?" She glanced around as seats were filled once more, conversations returning as if the supernatural events had never happened.

Humans, Agrona thought with disgust. Stupid and blind even when sober.

"I'm sure there's even a room here the dear bartender," she spat his title as the barkeeper shakily handed a refill to he who had caused the ruckus only moments before, "would allow us to use. It shouldn't take too much convincing, considering the circumstances." She smirked.

Shadowing Death

Salem grabbed his hand and looked Dontee dead in the eyes. "You can tell me! I promise I won't tell anyone or say anything! What is it?" she asked excitedly.

Dontee nods slightly. "Right, ok..." He says before closing his eyes and letting out a sigh to calm himself down a bit, not quite sure why he chose to even bring up secrets and such... though, she did seem like she wouldn't tell and wouldn't be able to tell many, so he has little reason not to. "Ok, don't laugh or think I'm crazy or anything... but..." He opens his eyes to look her dead in the eyes with a serious face. "I am not human, I am a dragon... it may not appear so, but that's because I'm currently in my human form as to appear human." He says, keeping his voice low as to avoid any others from overhearing his confession.

Shadowing Death

Salem blinked at him and dropped his hand. Was he pulling a prank? She started to become upset that he thought he could trick her when a thought crossed her mind. He was different! If he was actually a dragon, then she'd found something new! Right? These emotions crossed her face each in turn, frustrated, confused, excited, hopeful. She took a deep breath and tried to compose herself.

"What does that mean? Your human form?" she looked him over anew, appraisingly. Well, he had selected a very dapper human form, she thought to herself. "Does that mean you become a gigantic, scaly, fire breathing monster, dragon?" she asked and began scanning for hints of a scale, horns, teeth, claws, anything that would corroborate his story. Then her eyes widened. "Can you fly?" she whispered.

Dontee crosses his arms looking over Salem carefully. Every one seemed to react to such information differently, so he always found some interest in watching such a process of accepting him as a dragon unfold.

When she asked what he meant by his human form he shrugs his shoulders.
"Well, it means... I transformed myself into a human... I can at will change between human and dragon... and, to some extent, everything in-between... but mainly I have three forms... Human, Dragon, and my Hybrid form... which is pretty much the best traits of the two races..." He explains before frowning some on her second question.

"... Well, yes... but I am no monster... Dragons aren't exactly the creatures described in fairy tails... not all of us are these vicious monsters that kidnap/eat humans... There were and have been a number of bad apples that spoil our race's image, yes... but that doesn't mean we all are bad. It's as if I called your race barbarians, just because there were barbaric humans… or like if I called you a monkey, because of the Theory of Evolution. So, please refrain from the idea that we're some sort of 'monster lizards', please... it's a bit offensive." He says before smirking at her third question. "Well, not in my current form... but, yes... I am able to take flight."

He looks around. ”… Is there, perhaps, some place private we may speak… I’d hate for some one to over hear our conversation… you know, in case of dragon slayers or people that’d panic of word of a dragon…”

((OOC: Sorry I've been gone so long. I've been really horribly sick. Still am, but I at least got some sleep last night.))

Lael was still doubled over in laughter when Karinda agreed to venture into the city first. She didn't think it wise to laugh at a dragon but she simply couldn't help it - the little creature was not only glowing, but looked so stunned at this turn of events that it had stiffened and now looked to Lael something like a statue of sorts.

Wiping the tears from her eyes but still chuckling, Lael guestured toward a tunnel to the right of Karinda, before leading the way down it. At first the 'stairs' down the tunnel seemed rough and uneven, almost like the roots of the tree had chanced upon the shape. But as they desceneded away from the roots the stairs became more even. Wooden planks held the earth back. The air smelt pure here. Lael had always liked the tunnels leading to the surface. Not this one, exactly - a slide through a tree and glowing fungus wasn't exactly her thing, but the tunnels always smelt like the earth and sea together, fresh and vibrant and brimming with the potential for new life.

As they continued the fungus became less and less. The loss of the natural light source was replaced by torches. Soon, they would be replaced by the light of Templum. It had been some time since Lael had been here. It had never changed before, but she couldn't help but wonder if anything had changed by now.

Lael had forgotten just how far beneath the earth Chaim had hidden his sanctuary and as the tunnel narrowed she prayed that this long forgotten entrance hadn't caved in. With the silence spanning between them Lael sensed mistrust growing - not that she could blame the woman or her dragon. If a stranger had snatched Lael off an island, told her that jumping through a tree and walking down a darkened tunnel was 'safe', she would be mistrustful too. That was without the added uncertainty of having suddenly moved forward in time five hundred years.

Think before you speak. She told herself.
"Dragons are a rare thing now." She said. "I'm not blessed enough to have been born when they were a common thing - not that I think they ever really were, but I was born when I had the opportunity to meet at least four."
She paused, from here they would be forced to crouch. She really didn't like this entrance.
"There are two types of people in the world." She said, almost forced to her hands and knees to duck under a rock.
"The humans, that is, mortals, and us. That is, everyone else." She turned to offer a hand to Karinda to get under the rock.

"I didn't mean to offend you!" she apologized and then quickly thread her arm through his again at mention of a private place. "Sure, I know this abandoned coffee shop that we can go into for some quiet and space, if you don't mind going a little out of the way of the bakery...?" she asked and began leading the way anyhow. "I've never met anyone... like you," she whispered and peered up at him. "You have to answer all of my questions!"

Dontee nods with a small smile. "I know, I know... but it's just to inform you for future uses if you ever encounter another dragon... for some dragons would take more offense than others... I mean, I understand quite what it means to inavertedly offend... I have done it with many human encounters... you know, when humans was a new sight... so... I was quite young." He looks down to the connected arm before looking up and nod. "I see... I assume that walking with a linked arm at least means we're friends." He concluded, though still found it a little odd. He looks to her with a small smile once more when she insisted that he answer all her questions. "Well, alright... at least all that I feel I can answer."

Eve stared at the orb horrified of what she saw, such pain there was, she thought the world was past mindless killing and enslavement.
She wanted to look away but she could not convince herself to until the very end. The woman looked familiar to Eve but she was incapable of thinking much about it at that moment. Not much fazed Eve but when it does she just finds it easiest to shut down but shutting down was not an option with this situation.

"I......i have to go....back to town..." She stated stumbling over her words, The obviously frightened girl attached herself to Chaim's sleeve "Come with me." she muttered proceeding to pull on said sleeve. "It would be mean of you if you didn't after scaring me senseless."

Salem also looked down to their linked arms and nodded. "I would like to think we're friends, but mostly this is because I like to touch others," she put it rather bluntly. "I wasn't focusing before, but I like to try and see if I can read other's energies. Some new-age psychic once told me that if you could, you could see the color of people's auras..." she closed her eyes and began clicking her tongue ring against her teeth again. "As of yet I could never see, it may just be that I have no talent for that, but I'd like to think that no one's aura was strong enough! Probably someone like you might be different..." she concentrated and even in the dark of her eyes thought she saw a kind yellow color. But...

"Nope! Still got nothing! Anyway, earlier you said you offended humans upon first meeting them?" she whispered the word humans and threw a quick dart around, no one was watching. Good. "How can that be possible? You just a lived a sheltered like with other people like... like you?" She walked a little more turning abruptly into an alleyway and leading Dontee along. There was a doorway in the brick wall of the buildings that was covered by a simple piece of plywood littered with graffiti. She released Dontee and shoved the door open, stepping into the building was suddenly enveloped in dust that had settled after many years. It smelled musty, but it was away from any prying ears. "Ah, here we are!" she announced and leaned against the shoddy counter that was once used to brew espresso and display pastries. "What has made you come out amongst people, anyway? If you never had to?" she asked pursuing the line of questioning.

Dontee nods. "Alright." He says before smirking slightly at the mention of auras. "That takes some practice and some focus to do... I don't believe I can quite see auras fully, myself, unless they are drawn out to some point... you know, like before a fight. I believe then is an easier time to look for a person's aura." He says before looking forward. "... and yes... When I first started trying to live among the humans, I did occasionally offend others on ascendant... such as when I encountered humans 'of a different race'... you know, like I made the big mistake of confusing African Americans as humans that are part monkey... that is just one example."

He shrugs his shoulders before looking back to Salem. "Well... sort of... I can't go too much into things into my past, for there's an odd history in it... but, what I can tell you is that I learned to live among the humans, as do the other creatures... be it animals to mythical creatures... and I am a part of that system of belief... and then there are those whom only wish to rid of the humans, which rival that of those who just wish to live among them so much that they must, to some extent, protect the humans." He explains as he watches her lead them to into the alleyway and into an old building away from the public’s eyes and ears… as he requested. He closes his eyes to think of an answer to her question. ”Well…” He says before opening his eyes and looking to her to answer ”Honestly, it was partly to learn more of the human lifestyle… but one of the main reasons was because of the age in which humans went on a mass hunt for dragons… you know, live among humans to hide from dragon slayers… because the last place they’d expect to find one would be living with humans… another plus is that I could save a few humans, if something went wrong… such as if a creature decided to come out of hiding and try to go on a mass human killing spree.”

Salem looked down at the dusty floor beneath their feet. "Why would you care about the well-being of the very species that once hunted your people?" she pushed away from the counter. "And why tell me? I mean, you could have gone along this whole day without mentioning it. I would have just drug you along to any place I could think of-" she let that slip and blushed. "I-I mean I would have asked you to escort me to my errands and we would have part ways and probably have never seen one another again. Why tell me?" she asked and reached for another cigarette, out of habit, but then paused. Dammit... she thought but dropped the carton back into her pockets and began relentlessly, anxiously pacing.

Dontee shrugs his shoulders. "... Because I don't believe the answer to one species nearly causing the other to extinct is to cause the first species to due to let the second one survive... I believe there's room for both humans and everything else to survive in this world with less conflict... Besides, the majority of humans seems to be left in the dark on such a topic as dragons being slain and such and would protest if known it was real... but that'd lead to more problems. In short, I do it because I don't wish harm to humans due to past experiences they more than likely aren't fully aware of."

He chuckles, nodding. "Well, I realize that... but you seemed like one who can keep a secret... plus, your arms kept grabbing for my own and all that... that and... well, you seem like a woman who I wouldn't want to 'part ways forever'." He then crosses his arms to ask "So... drug me along to any place you can think of?... You didn't have errands, did you?... To be honest, I didn't have many places to go or much to do either... except the car almost hitting me bit, that I think I should report sometime later." He then notices her reaching for something, but then drops it with an anxious vibe. He shrugs his shoulders. "... You know, you can smoke... just... try not to blow it in my face, for I don't see the benefit of inhaling tobacco... only some of it's negatives."

”Come hither, Saiirin,” Karinda said to the still glowing dragon, a smile stuck on her lips. “’Tis time for us to depart from hence.”

The dragon turned her brooding gaze to Karinda as the girl turned to follow Lael down a tunnel to her right. Saiirin hurried to catch up, the sleek creature quick on her feet.

Karinda’s eyes glanced from Lael to the roots beneath their feet that served as stairs, leading them deeper into the depths of the earth where the scent of dirt became nearly overwhelming. Karinda’s smile faded as they continued down the tunnel in silence, the stairs beginning to look man-made as she questioned the sanity of her decision to follow the girl.

The lit fungus began to grow further apart until finally it no longer provided enough light to keep the tunnel well lit. Instead, shadows flickered on the wall from the changing light of flames contained within steel torches mounted on the wall. Karinda paused to finger the one of the perfectly forged pieces of metal before continuing after Lael.

“Dragons are a rare thing now,” Lael said, breaking the silence. “I’m not blessed enough to have been born when they were a common thing—not that I think they ever really were, but I was born when I had the opportunity to meet at least four.”

Looking to the ceiling as it lowered, Karinda bent over to keep her head from hitting the ceiling before replying.

“Two hun--" she stopped, inhaling deeply to steady herself as she corrected her statement. “Near the year of 1310,” she began, her voice quiet, “dragons were no rare sight. ‘Twas by their doing that their existence remained uncharted in more than tales used to frighten children. Sadly, by the dawn of the new century, the hunting of dragons was known as a sport, forcing them into hiding or else face extinction. I can only imagine how few still remain within this day and age,” she finished with a sad sigh.

Karinda’s ears again tuned to Lael’s voice.

“There are two types of people in this world,” Lael said, all but crawling beneath a rock jutting out from the top of the tunnel. “The humans, that is, mortals, and us. That is, everyone else.”

Karinda ignored the helping hand Lael offered her, easily ducking beneath on her own.

“Forgive me,” she said, “but your words make little sense. Not all humans have the leisure of mortality, while the simple number of thou and I is no closer to ‘everyone’ than a king is to a peasant of another kingdom.”

Chaim blinked in surprise at Eve’s fear as the girl tugged on his sleeve

“I apologize,” he said, his eyes echoing his apology and displaying his slight confusion at the girl’s reaction. “I had no intention of scaring you. My only desire was to give you a ‘convincing cause.’ It would be my pleasure to accompany you back into town.” With a smile, he properly offered her his arm, sparing her from tugging on his sleeve as he folded his wings into his back.

Shadowing Death

Salem nearly immediately fetched the carton of cigarettes from her pocket and lit one. She took a deep drag and made a point to blow it away from her new friend. "There are no positives of inhaling tobacco that's been so poluted with nicotine and rat poisoning and whatever else it is that they put into these things. They are gross and smelly and cause all kinds of cancer. But, I was diagnosed with anxiety, as well as a slew of other things, and this is one of the things that calms my anxious jitters." She clutched the lit cigarette between her middle and index finger as the smoke curled up into the air. She smiled too, as he called her out on letting it slip that she had no real errands to run.

"Sure, I have a lot of things that I need to do, just nothing I wanted to bring you with on. I didn't want to muddle getting to know you with responsibilities, that seemed so... I don't know." She smiled again and continued pacing, slowly now that the cigarette was clutched between her fingers. She didn't want to bring the smoke too near to him.

"But I'm glad that some part of you has decided that you didn't want this to be just another random, fleeting encounter," she took a deep breath after staring at the ground a moment before meeting Dontee's gaze head-on. "So, now it's time for me to admit something, since you were so brave. Here goes," Salem paused and took another drag. "Evidently... I am what other people refer to as a sociopath. I don't particularily agree with this. I-it's just that I think everyone is so boring. I guess that's why I was so desperate to keep you around. I could just tell there was something exciting about you. And I was right!" she exclaimed.

"Anyway, you're so kind, I guess my race should be really grateful that there are people, er, dragons out there that feel the way you do," she smirked and took another drag, before stubbing the butt out on the counter. "That's really lovely of you."
