you better.

Well, I don't exactly see it as worshipping Hojo, but you have to think... Without Hojo, you would not have the figure of Christ, Sephiroth. Without Hojo's experiments, Sephiroth, SOLDIER, and stuff like that would have never come to be. Therefore, he is not a figure in himself to be worshipped, but a vessel through which the first coming and the son of Jenova were created.

Oh, how fun it is to argue about non-existing theology. Anyway, that's not official or anything, but that was how I interpreted the inclusion of Hojo into the Dogma of Jenova's church. Anyone who wishes to correct my doctrine, please do so.

Oh, and about the holy symbol... Just a Masamune on a chain?

WAIT NON EXISTING THEOLOGY MOTHER IS REAL!!!!!!!
PostPosted: Tue Aug 08, 2006 7:46 pm

Of course Mother is real, I never said that she wasn't. But until someone puts an official Bible of the Church of Jenova into print, all of the theology is considered non-existing and temporarily agreed upon by the members of the religion. True or not, it doesn't exist as concrete evidence until this happens:

Somebody: "I thought that it went like this..."
Me: "Yeah, well read the book, cause it's right there! GRAWR!" *shoves book into their face much like a catholic*

...Of something to that effect. You get the idea. xd

Jehobo - Very rarely will that happen, because that will lead to the religion in question dividing itself over their different interpretations of their theology. That's why they make books like that for religions, so that everyone is clear on the ideology of the religion, and nobody can interpret it differently, or if they do, it's within an acceptable scope.

Saerenna - Intriguing idea? Well, I'm just chock full of those! I'm too lazy to type most of it, but if you want to build this parallel to Christianity, I'd be glad to help out in some spots. Be sure to include the Jenova version of the Lord's Prayer that some of the fellow Witnesses used in the Cosplay contest at Anime Iowa 2006. I can find it if you don't know what I'm talking about.

Christianity has many different factions and it has the bible.

Yes, because they're all within an acceptable scope of interpretation for one story. They all (mostly, at least) can agree on one base story. The changes from fation to faction are within an acceptable scope to keeping with the same story, and that's why, while they may disagree with each other, their beliefs are so close that none of them will outright say "You're wrong" to another faction.

and christianity is a splinter faction of judaism and they both openly say that the other is wrong.

They both believe a different version of the story, though. Their difference is much more of a difference that that between Lutheran and Catholic, for example. Jews believe that the man who called himself Jesus during the first coming of the son was not really the son of god. Christians believe he was.

Sort of like if a faction of Jenova's Witnesses split off and said that Sephiroth was not really the first son of Jenova, and we're still waiting for the true messiah to guide Mother to this planet. Get it?

yes I get it but werent you just saying that such large deviations couldnt happen with a written faith?
