Five minutes. It wasn't just Rep that was being protected, here. While they killed bugs, the other trainees were counting on them for time. Water, supplies, bandages, equipment. They took care of the skirmishes. The other guys had to make sure they could stay out here another day. It was probably what was going on bigger-picture. And the full Hunters were having a long thirty minutes.
He had been sweating earlier, and the heat was oppressive, but now it was - cooler, almost.
And like Allan had said, it was getting darker.
...That...was from the sun? Right? The hum was back, so loud Harrison thought he could feel the buzzing. When he looked up, what he could see of the sky through the sand was black. They'd barely made it through the last one. This was worse. He couldn't freeze up. He couldn't hack and slash at everything that jumped at him. They were both tired, but he'd told Rep he was going to guard him. He needed Rep to make it back. It was on his shoulders.
They descended.
Harrison fought. Cleared a path. Jabbed, chopped, kicked, anything to keep what he could off the other Hunter.

"H-he's right, you do need to get back." Saya jumped into the fray, her hand gripping her bow-sword with a deathly pale grip. her fingers were white, her grip so tight, it temporarily drained all blood and feeling.
Allan-taichou. He had been hurt really bad. Anxiety ran through Saya, partially because of the sun leader's injuries butt he other part was what they were up against. She feared, what if this was the easy parts?
Prompto couldn't answer her.

Exhaustion was almost overwhelming by now, his body had been pushed almost to breaking point by the patrols, the fights and the state of half-recovery he was currently in. It took all his effort now to just swing the axe through the jabbing pain in his shoulder, throwing more of his effort into his good arm. Just a little further.
Harrison was reassuring, as the swarm closed in all around them claws sweeping in too close, way too close, several times he was aware of the creatures coming right at him only to be slashed aside by the moon hunter before they could reach him. He was amazingly grateful, he hardly deserved to be forgiven let alone defended.
He set his jaw and swung again and again, cutting a swathe through the bastards, even as they assaulted both of them, always aiming for the big guys, always trying to trim down the swirling mass of death. He'd lost at the church. He would NOT lose here.
As the swarm receded, retreating back wherever the ******** they came from, there was nothing but the sandstorm left behind. There was no more. He waited a few moments just in case it was the eye of the storm. But nothing.
He was struggling to catch his breath, hands shaking, body pushed pretty damn far. All he could do was lean back against the other man slightly and pat his hand in a subtle little gesture of "I think we got them all"

The trainee for once decided to listen to its advice and, oh it was just Reine. His legs felt heavier - did lead even feel his heavier or maybe even heavier than lead, more like thorium at this rate as he dragged himself forward, slow enough that the Life trainee was more than capable of catching up to him. "S'up."
In the wind it just sounded like wind, and then the sound of a Mist trainee gagging slightly at the taste of sand. At last he got a handle of the don't talk in a sandstorm idea, and simply kept his eyes down: at the most the Life trainee got a really noncommittal shrug, as he kicked another backpack out from the sand.
Apparently sad kicked puppies liked to kick sadder objects, who knew.

Squinting against the wind and sand, Eva wondered how she was going to find anything when she could hardly even open her eyes in the first place. Her lips were pressed together in a tight line--she was not going to risk the possibility of having sand fly into her mouth, thanks--as she trudged along, head lowered and hand held over her face as she attempted to shield herself from the bothersome weather.
As she continued onwards, something suddenly caught her eye--an object that the wind had suddenly unveiled. Pushing herself forward, Eva stooped down to retrieve the object.
A cell phone, and one that still seemed to be working too. Good. She pocketed the item before continuing her search.

Oh, was there something...?
Eva could have sworn that she had spotted something a few paces in front of her, but when she reached the spot, there was nothing in sight. Crouching down, she brushed aside the sand with both of her hands, her fingers grasping, but...no. All she felt were grains of sand trickling through her fingers. No items to be salvaged here.
Time to carry on.

This time, Eva nearly stepped on the object before she spotted it. Fortunately, Chara was not quite as distracted as her wielder was, and she was quick to helpfully--and loudly--demand that Eva not take another step lest she wanted to break a Fear Scanner.
Good thing Eva had listened. She picked up the Fear Scanner, turning it over in her hands and trying to determine whether or not it was still working. After a moment of inspecting it (as best as she could in this weather, at least), she tucked it into the pocket.
If she were to guess, she'd say that about 15 minutes had passed. That meant that she only had another 15 minutes to continue looking. Better not waste that time and get on it, then.

There was a surprising ache in her heart, a sort of 'why does it hurt', when Justin barely acknowledged her. More surprising, probably, was the fact that she'd mentioned raiding, and he wasn't immediately staring up at her with his huge puppy eyes, or dragging her along to who-knows-where.
Maybe it was the sand in her eyes, well, there was sand everywhere- that explained why she was actually tearing up.
Mission mission mission, she reminded herself. And on the other hand, Justin. The last time she tried to take other peoples' feelings into consideration, they had wound up practically dead, so clearly it was better to just focus on the task at hand. And when you were sad, as Justin clearly was, having work to distract you helped, right?
She could be excited enough for the two of them. Braving the sandstorm, she forced a grin, stepping in front of him and pulling him towards her.
"This way," she indicated, jabbing her thumb towards the wide, sandy unknown. "Come onnnn, Justin, we've got, um, mats! Waiting to be found!" As she tugged on his sleeve,dragging him away, she promptly tripped over a tablet-- well, what did you know, apparently Justin was her lucky charm.

...Goodness, there certainly was a lot of stuff out here, wasn't there? When Eva picked up another working fear scanner, she could definitely see why they had been requested to come out and salvage what they could. There was a lot of equipment out here--a lot of equipment that they needed. That being said, even if they hadn't been in dire need of supplies, it would have been a huge waste to just leave this stuff lost out in the desert.
Eva tried not to think about what happened to the Hunters who had been carrying this stuff in the first place.

Nope, nothing here. She was digging through random spots in the sand in search of any hidden equipment, but Eva ended up coming up empty handed each time. There wasn't any shortcut to doing this, she had realized--you either got lucky and spotted something in the sand, or you got lucky and just so happened to randomly dig something up.
She hoped that the other death trainees were having more luck than she was.

Time was up, so she knew it was time to head back and gather with the rest of the trainees. She certainly hoped that the others had managed to find some supplies--god knows that those back at the tent needed it--and she let her legs carry her back towards the others.
But not before she felt her shoe knock into something solid in the sand. Frowning, she leaned down and dug through the sand with the fingers. Was it--yup, another cell phone. Like the other objects, her last minute find was also slipped into her pocket.
Well, that was that.

Tedan grinned at the Moons that showed up then, showing his teeth in an almost feral sort of grin. "Yea I know we need to get back soon, but we've gotta keep these damn things off the others just a bit longer!" Panting, he took out another bigger bug, then fell back toward the group a little more.

One more ... just one more mob then he'd head back no matter what... Yelling, the Sun trainee rushed another group of enemies, then finally moved closer to the main group as they started heading back. He had no idea what exactly was going on anymore and he felt a bit dizzy but ... hopefully he helped.

If the sun hunter wanted to go on longer then Saya had his side. She couldn't say she would fully accomplish protecting that side but if it was for Allan-taichou, then it would have to be done. Even as Tedan retreated, the mobs were still on their tail with a vengeance.
it was unsaid that the moon trainee would cover Tedan's retreat as well.

Bix was attempting to dodge the swarms when Dakota appeared in front of him and absorbed some of the hits. "I'm good. Thanks man!" The albino used the window of opportunity to let loose a volley of arrows into the skittering monster that was headed back in their direction. The arrows nor the defense stopped the bugs from coming and Bix was hit hard by something large and slimy. HP: 39 / 50 Damage Recieved: 17 - 6(buff) = 11 Mobs killed: 9 Time Remaining: 25 / 30
