I'm more in favor to The Clue aspect since we can have everyone make thestory of what they are being blackmailed for. But I'm also into the Horror aspect as well, with that we can figure out what they did and how each character has a part in the terrible tradegy that happened..

I like the 'Clue Scheme' and the 'Adventure Scheme'. It sounds interesting and more original than the 'Adventure Scheme'. It also seems more plot twisting than the others.
Although the Adventure Scheme isn't that original, it seems just as plot twisting. x]

Thanks for the message, Kiakat! I've been kinda semi-lurking in this thread on occasion just to check for any major info like that, but I appreciate you keeping us all informed!
I kind of really like the "Clue" idea(seems that came to mind when this whole event was first announced). We the roleplayers would have to invent something new for the characters who didn't have anything in their backgrounds to use, but that won't be so hard. Plus, it kind of gives reason already as to why some of the characters will be disappearing. =]

Sorry it took me so long...D//x;; I-I woulda posted sooner, but I wanted to study about the character before just blindly posting something that had no relation to our assigned character...I hope whoever wrote the character I was assigned to liked what I did with them! >///<;;;

Not a problem! I was talking to Palantine and peppering him with questions one night and when I got the gist that it was up to US, I wanted to get everyone on board.
Not everyone had popped in here or not often so I wanted to let everyone know what was happening since Round 1 is quickly whipping by.
Thank you all for coming in and giving your input.
I like that not only are we in a competition but we also get to work together.
It is fun! XD
Personally, I like the Clue type idea.
I'm a big fan of old fashioned mystery and often the sillier the better.
IE Nights go out, bangbang, lights come on, dead body.
Like Siren mentioned, the old eye holes in the portraits, secret passageways, etc etc.
So I like all of that.
If someone really couldn't think of anything that their character could have been blackmailed for, it could always have been a parent/grandparent/cousin that was being blackmailed but the evidence could ruin something for the main character. For example, their father murdered someone once. By accident but he covered it up in a panic.
The father is now old and frail and if it came out it would surely kill him,and probably the mother and the shame, etc etc.
But I'm totally open.
I'm going to sift through everyone's responses tonight and see what was most popular but I really think that we should start this soon so we can get some writing done with it by the end of the Round.

Alright, I went back through and gave each approving mention of a theme a 'vote'.
Even if you named two that you liked, you got a vote in for each of them.
Going by that logic these are the results:
Clue - 6
Adventure - 5
Horror - 3
Practical - 1
So, if you have any strong feelings about one or the other, say so tonight.
Tomorrow I'll announce which one had more 'votes' and that will be the one that we go with!
Not formal, but it will have to do.
Now that we understand the format of the contest more, those that make it to round two can make their decisions for plot points from the get go and have a week to expand on that.
If I'm still around I'll make voting polls for the later decisions so we can all see the results.

Alright, no one has voiced in opposition.
So the common thread between them will be the 'Clue' theme.
Which means that all of them are being blackmailed for something.
I think that the best way for this to be revealed is to have the butler, er, I mean the man reading the will, inform them. That way it will be quick and everyone will know at once and we can proceed.
However, Palantine, are you having total control over that NPC?
Is that how you are going to end Round 1 is that he comes in reads the will and the lights go out and come back up and people are dead?
I guess what I'm asking is, can we control the executor of the will to get this information across?
Or do we have to discover something to figure it out?

So everyone is agreed on the blackmail scenario? No, I wasn't planning on playing an NPC in the contest. There will, however, be preludes at the start of each round that tie things together a bit. I will be closing the Round 1 threads tonight, probably sometime around midnight EST. If you want to post again in Round 1, you need to do so before then.Either tonight or (more likely) sometime tomorrow morning, a PM will be sent out detailing the next step of the contest. Good luck! I am sooo sorry I didn't get to post before the thread closed!! We headed to my aunts for Easter weekend so I was packing and washing clothes and a whole bunch of crap I had to hurry and do after I slacked off and had a sleepover with our guild Captian (she's catching up on glee :3)
But I think it's left off at a good point for the next players so we can see how new Raina does with our grown up babies [/proudmamatears]

Yay, I has people worried bout me.
And no one is getting killed off this round so someone will have them...I just hope they post for them cause I feel like not all the characters showed up this round for some reason. But I am excited to get a new character and I really hope that maybe you'll get Giselle. OH! What if we get each others characters!! Wait...no I don't want to smear your babies name

Still, I can't wait to see what the next person assigned Raina frames her with. If you do get her with her background I'd suggest: evidence of drug/alcohol abuse and or maybe an undergound porn tape or something that she didn't know she was part of in her wilder years. ...just some thoughts
