Ariane accidentally bumped into someone on the way to a familiar face, and decided to give him a mock salute together with a "Hi, sorry about that!" before continuing on her way.

"Hi Deryk, Judy!" The former would receive a greeting smack on his back. It might or might not be intentional, but at least she didn't use her full force.

"AH!" Deryk winced as he took a smack to the back. That hurt! Cringing, he shifted while the pain lingered a little while, before he grinned weakly to the culprit.

"Hey.. Ariane.. Ow.. Didyoureallyhavetodothat? Still tender..." he whined.

"Aww, sorry Mr Bond, here, I'll make it up to you," She didn't look apologetic at all though, as she smacked him on his arm in a friendly way, "There, that should distract your body from that pain with this new pain."

Candace had done what others had done and tied her coat around her waist, tugging at her shirt a little to keep it from sticking to herself. The temptation to just take it off and walk around in just her bra was very strong; perhaps Robert had the right idea with his shirtlessness. But she decided against it, the presence of certain people making that choice for her; namely Gale, Jerry, William and Caelius.

Tablets...weapons with no hunters..

Her eyes widened. It's okay, Candace. I won't be demonstrating that anytime soon, or ever. Candace frowned. I'm not immortal, you know. Atropos made a sound of surprise. Aren't you? Apparently one of them didn't understand what the other was implying. Sighing, Candace simply looked around and let the others do the attention grabbing; after her behavior on the last mission Candace was just going to be quiet for this one, she didn't want to draw more eyes to her..for once. If she was going to get attention it needed to be for the right reasons.

See? She was learning.

Jude saw Molly wave and smile at him and he waved and smiled back as well though the smile didn't look happy in any shape or form but at least he smiled at her, right? He tilted his head toward Deryk when the lower level trainee came toward him and blinked a bit, "I'm as ready as I can be for anything around here. I think I'll be fine as long as I don't need to do another sudden costume change," he said with a small nod.

It was probably no preparation for anything ever during missions.

"Hi Ari-berry," he said simply with a small headshake as she smacked Deryk's back. The trainee had his sympathy it always sucked having a wound on your back. "Don't worry Deryk, when she tortures you it means she likes you."

Deryk let out another whine as Ariane smacked him again, though this time it was in the arm. Why did she have to hit him!? Rubbing his arm gingerly, he turned to Jude while furrowing his brow.

"Whaaaaat? But hitting hurts! How is torture a good thing?" he pouted.

He did not understand this line of logic, no. But hopefully Ariane won't be smacking him in the back again today. And hopefully nothing else will. He had a slight feeling there were some dangerous critters in this cave. Yes. There had to be.

Tropical paradise. Finally Otto's attire made all of the sense. Warm and muggy it might have been, the small hunter trainee seemed at ease.... ish. As at ease he could be considering his grumpy disposition.
Otto listened halfheartedly to the instructions, taking note of their purpose for being there and whatever equipment was around.

Cool beans, says Otto.

"Well," Sandy began slowly, unsure herself, "There shouldn't be people in there any more..." She trailed off, attempting to baton pass the question to her division leader who just did not quite ******** care at this moment. Working with him was similar to repeatedly running along the Deathsweeper tiles hoping everything would be okay: one never knew when one of the tiles would end up in an awfully horrible death, and it usually was the first tile anyway. Sandy cleared her throat, giving the trainees one last smile that she hoped would somehow answer all remaining questions. "Sir, I think everyone is ready."

Without another word, Caelius simply stalked off in the direction of the cave, pretty much forcing everyone to chase after him to even try and match his pace. He was well inside the and past the entrance by the time the two Hunters got their flashlights on and working, Sandy gesturing to the trainees to please hurry up.

The cave was dark. In all honesty, if the trainees had been expecting some sort of magically lit spelunking area with thousands of glowing stalagmites As Seen On TV, they were about to be severely disappointed. It was pitch black, a blind darkness that robbed everything of appearance, cold, wet, clammy. Trainees who had forgone some of their heavier clothing would suddenly regret their choice: if the light was any clearer, they would have been able to see their own breath turn into visible mist. The ground was uneven and narrow, allowing only one person to file through the crude imitation of a path. A strange fluttering noise could be heard from above.

Sandy and Barney were still pressing ahead, giving the trainees not much time for second thoughts, or regrets really. They continued to press on for a good five minutes before the path tapered into a large circular room: a dead end.

Of course the Death Division leader was standing there, with no flashlight other than Circe in her de-summoned form, the weapon flickering past him just quick enough to catch an expression that probably looked a little more terrifying than it really should have. Caelius said nothing though, as he followed his weapon step-by-step, Circe hovering a few seconds over each glyph etched on stone slabs against the ground, slabs that decorated the circumference of the "room". He waited until she made a complete circle around before his weapon took its scythe shape again, blunt end burying into a glyphed tile. The second tile choice was almost halfway across the room, and the third and fourth chosen just as deliberately, though with no discernible sequence.

A loud, holllow click followed, as the ground practically dropped from under them: the only saving grace was that the floor moved only an inch downwards before stopping again. A pause, and then:

"Sandy, Barney, hold down the levers."

Both Hunters moved their flashlights around the room, attempting to locate the fabled levers, thankfully they were not disappointed. On opposite ends of the room were two simple contraptions sticking from the ground. They each took one and hesitantly pushed them the only way they moved: downwards. Immediately, the floor began to drop again, though this time at a reasonable pace, much like an elevator.

The hallway below was thankfully, still lit with torches, though why the fires were still burning was a rather unpleasant mystery. Thankfully, the area seemed much more polished, the floors and walls made entirely of paved stones. Occasionally, something glittered against the floor or ground: a precious stone perhaps, or just the glint of metal surfacing.

There were a couple of things the trainees were probably noticing by now. The first being that this hallway, though much more developed than the beginning entrance area, was oddly still very cold and dank. The second were the ominous etchings along the walls that were really rather graphic considering their crude style. Most depicted some form of what had to be the horsemen, literally, oversized fire-breathing steeds laying waste over a series of different panels, from farmers and crops plagued with locusts to soldiers pointing at a falling star in the sky. At one point, the etchings stopped entirely, leading into instead, a series of large, even holes against both sides of the wall.

It was at that point right before the panels tapering off that Caelius stopped, re-summoning his weapon again as he carved out a piece of rock from a particularly angry depiction of a fire-breathing horseman and threw it in the general vicinity of the hallway in front of them.

The rock hit the far end, nearly twenty feet away, with a small clack.

And then, the walls directly in front of the group began to hiss, as a volley of endless arrows that seamlessly traced the rock's trajectory from wall to wall. They came to an abrupt stop just inches from where the rock lay unmoving. All-in-all it seemed like something that would have been much more comforting to watch behind a screen, perhaps with a tub full of popcorn, and maybe even perhaps taking bets on the couch as to which of the characters would die first.

Caelius gave the trainees all a look, daring them to back away as he took the lead first, weapon still summoned as he broke into a run. There was a hiss immediately behind him, the arrows beginning their chase, though halfway through the gauntlet he simply dropped his weapon, disappearing into an arc of blue, only to reappear at the far end. The barrage of arrows came to a short stop.

"You have got to be shitting me." Sandy was next, looking at Caelius and then the wall of magically generating arrows and then at the trainees. She sighed deeply, summoned her own weapon, a simple rapier, and began to run for her life's worth across the twenty-foot projectile range. Most of the arrows hissed behind her, though the last few seemed to collide against her Fear shield, one of them scraping against her arm in a particularily nasty manner. She inhaled sharply as she made it to the far end, one hand pressing against her bleeding arm.

"I'm- I'm okay! Just, one person at a time, so you don't hurt anyone else."It wasn't exactly the most reassuring thing the trainees were looking for at this point. "Just run as fast as you can, and keep your weapon summoned, these arrows are Fear based." Sandy called out from the other side. It was too bad the trainees couldn't see her rendition of an encouraging smile from that distance.

OOC: OBSTACLE 1: THE WALL OF ARROWS

- Your trainee has to cross the 20-foot expanse of walls that create a seemingly endless rain of arrows, triggered by any motion they sense nearby. Arrows pour out from both sides of the wall, though they seem to reintegrate with the other end of the wall, instead of clattering against the ground. The cold air leaves a chilling effect: reducing your weapon's power. As long as your trainee has their Fear Shield up (weapon summoned), and continues to run as fast as they can, it should be okay.
- Roll a 100-sided dice and subtract the damage you take to your total HP value.
1-20: You run as fast as you can, the equilibrium of your weapon throws you off balance, an arrow grazes right past you, scraping against you. Ouch! - 10 HP
21-40: You manage to keep pace, but the last few arrows throw you off as you take a little bit of damage, but mostly to your Fear Shield. -5 HP
41-60: You get a good head start, but trip over some uneven footing, though the arrows mostly shoot past you, one of them manages to graze your arm. -15 HP
61- 80: You are either very lucky or very very lucky. You make it past the entire ordeal without taking any damage. -0 HP
81 - 100: You falter, and this causes the arrows to catch up to you almost immediately. Your weapon yells at you at nearly the last second to MOVE, and you do so, hauling as fast as you can, but not without taking minor damage. -10 HP.

Clerise let herself be tugged along by Sasha after the shock wore off.

Well well. They were making progress yet.

She listened to the diatribe of everyone, mentally dubbing "Blah blah blah" over every other word--

Then, made her way into the temple.

What a terrible idea.

The redhead slipped on some rocks, arrows shooting by and zinging far too close to her fear shield, one or two sliding against her arm.

Ugh. NOT A GOOD START.

Jude just smirked at Deryk and then shrugged, "It is just how she ticks."

Then it was time to move forward and so he did wandering with a sort of mechanical purpose of someone just going through the motions of survival which wasn't going to suit him well for the task ahead. He'd summoned Yom just out of precaution as his hands held onto the weapon and he let out a breath to prepare himself before he moved to get across the arrow filled path.

He wasn't going to back away.

Jude had no reason to be careful.

Thus with this in mind dove in and while he made it through for the most part he also got grazed by an arrow causing him to hiss a bit under his breath as he stared down at where he had gotten grazed. Stupid arrow. Stupid everything.

Traps. What a big, amazing surprise. Jordan did blink when Caelius pulled something that looked like teleportation - what would actually explain a few things, really. He made a mental note.

When it was his turn to cross, he summoned Ferros and sprinted across, fighting the urge to glance back and check how close the arrows were. He could hear them slicing through the air, sounding closer with each step, but looking back would slow him down. Three sharp stings as he crossed the line of safety told him he hadn't been quite fast enough - but it could have been much worse. Ferros rumbled quietly as Jordan moved aside, watching for the others to cross.

The arrows reminded her of Izy, Syd thought as she stretched lightly before taking off as fast as she could. Once, twice, an arrow nicked her FEAR shield, but she came out with only a tiny scrape and a pounding heart that threatened to make her pant as she reached the opposite side.

She moved to a safe place and turned to watch the others.

Rep was off at a run to try to keep up with Caelius as he sped off into the cave. Wow, seemed like it'd be one of those missions, no waiting. Business. Would certainly be a change from the easy going preparation of the others. The cold and dark eerieness of the place got to him immediately, the whole lot of them cramped into single file as he tried very hard not to think about how cold and damp and ******** this whole place was.

At least for once the angel's words kept him calm and collected, he was right, there was nothing to worry about in here for the time being, he couldn't afford to make an arse of himself in front of all these other people.

And then there was the arrows. Holy ******** HELL. They were expected to get across there? He wanted suddenly to drift to the back of the crowd. Let other people get stuck like pincusions, maybe jam up the mechanisms with blood or something. Anything that might make survival more likely.

< Trust me for a change William? I'll get us across.> Rep wasn't hugely heartened but there wasn't really much room to go back, nor could he at this point. So as his turn came up, he summoned the axe, hefted him in both hands. "Okay then." he said in an undertone. "Dont' ******** let me down then."

And fighting back his apprehension he charged across, arrows whistling unnervingly close but through some miracle making it with only a few dents to the fear shield, trying to go from panicked scurry to nonchalant strut at the other side.

Sure he hadn't thought he was going to die or anything.

Wash gathered his supplies after everyone else, and started to walk away as someone glanced off him and kept on walking.

"Hey-" he began, but she was gone by the time he could protest. He sighed heavily, flicking on his flashlight and following Caelius into the cave- at which point he immediately paused to re-don his jacket. What were they doing spelunking anyway? Weren't weapons MADE, not spontaneously popping into existence in places that look like they could host some awful B-movie horror flicks? Or maybe a nature documentary...

The level of crude yet oddly sophisticated technology was confusing too, an observation he found especially poignant given their ride down the elevator. What was this place used for anyway? The revelation of the 'obstacle course' had him immediately groaning though. Scratch horror flick, they were clearly in the realm of action/adventure.

Get that stick out of your a** and get a move on! Oooh, I bet this will be fun!

Obediently, he summoned his weapon and took his place in line to face the gauntlet of missiles. At least it was just arrows, and not, say, bullets. Although that would REALLY throw off the theme.

And then it was his turn. He only managed to take a few hesitant strides forward when the toe of his boot caught on the rough stone floor, and he stumbled. He could hear the rumbling of mechanisms that heralded a hiss and then-

WASH! I NEED YOU HERE! THIS ISN'T A GAME!

The first arrow tore through the shoulder of his jacket, leaving a long shallow gash across his back as he lurched forward on all fours, regaining his feet and running for his life- literally. He crossed the line of arrows to the far side and fell against the wall, panting. The whites of his eyes showed all around as he glanced at his fellows.

This s**t was for real?!
