"I'm....numb," They had apparently given her something, the pain she felt before was nearly non-existent and there was nothing in its place other than an odd numb sensation. "Will you lay with me?" Mitsu did her best to scoot over on the bed though she still found it hard to move. The smallest action seemed to take a substantial amount of energy. Energy she really didn't have back yet.
Once she was settled she pulled back the blankets a little so Shun could join her under the warmth of the covers. It probably wasn't the most comfortable of beds but at the moment it felt like heaven. "What did the doctor say about you?"

Looking her over, Shun nodded. There wasn't much room on the bed, but he'd try anyway. Carefully, he crawled in with her, wincing as it strained his leg a little while he moved into position.
"Not much. Needed a few stitches, and might have a minor concussion but nothing serious," he replied while laying down.
A few seconds of silence.
"I'm.. sorry about what happened back there. I shouldn't have pushed that badger."

"Ah, are you okay?" She had seen him wince, moving carefully to give him more room on the bed. Luckily she was able to turn in the bed and lay on the side that wasn't injured to face him. "You're not playing it down are you?" Mitsu knew the reaper was prone to brushing off his own injuries as nothing and it made her worry. A few stitches and a minor concussion probably meant he had nearly lost a limb and had a serious head injury or possibly broken something.
The apology was a little unexpected after the silence, her eyes trained on the reaper's as her brows furrowed in confusion. "Shun....I don't think there is a need to apologize. I think the badger would have chased us out of there whether you had a weapon or not." It had been angry for sure, there was no way around it.
Her head was still trying to clear from the fog of the medication they had her on but it looked like she was acting normally. "Really, I should apologize." Her eyes looked away for a moment, shame on her features. "I panicked...and jumped to conclusions. Everything was so distorted and foggy I just thought...I thought you were gone. Just like Ginji."

"No. That's really what I have," he said while holding up his arm to show the stitches there. Letting his arm back down, Shun fell silent as he heard her speak up, bringing up how she had jumped to conclusions earlier on. It made him wonder just how much faith she had in him.
"You really should realize.. those with a strong will are a lot harder to kill off for good," he sighed while staring towards the ceiling, "Really.. just.. don't write me off so quickly... I'd like to think that I'm not that weak.."

"I don't think you're weak." Mitsu said softly, a fury of bad memories flooding back. "I never thought Ginji was weak either." She closed her eyes for a moment, her fingers touching the necklaces around her neck. First the one Shun had given her, her finger tips lightly tracing the orchid before they slipped away to grip the ring dangling from the other one.
"He was the strongest person I knew. I knew he was having a tough time with something but he did his best not to let it bother him. He only ever encouraged me, telling me to keep my head up....and then without warning...he was gone." Her memories of the event were foggy and distorted. Almost like they had been in the woods. It was a sickeningly familiar feeling that she didn't know how to place.
"So...I'm sorry ...I never meant to think that way, I just...I worry. I don't want to suddenly lose you too." At those words she huddled closer, her head resting against his chest.

Grimacing at the answer, Shun let out a sigh while thinking about what she said. It didn't seem right for someone to just up and disappear like that. It really made him wonder what happened exactly. He would ask, but it was apparent that Mitsu really had no clue either.
Resting his head lightly against hers, he mulled this over some more. It did kind of explain why she seemed to worry so much over death. He hadn't exactly lost anyone completely before. Well, there was his mother he supposed, but he didn't actually know her, so it was hard to relate on that front.
"You won't lose me, Mitsu. I swear it.. " he said quietly.

Mitsu remained quiet as she continued to lay there, Shun's reassuring words only helping to ease a bit of her worry. It was something that was always going to plague her no matter how she tried to think differently. It wasn't that she thought less of his abilities but because there was just something out there she couldn't explain. Something beyond their control and the Hunters were a good example. How long had they been coming to Halloween anyway? Was the time at school one of the first? No, no they said something about the teacher on the staff.... Could it have been possible Ginji had been taken by them?
Her questioning thoughts would have no answers. She had no better idea today than she had when it first happened. The mystery continued. Maybe it was her mind finally giving up on the thought that he was just simply missing and had truly died. If he was still around he would have come back for her right? He would have taken her away from that horrible house and they could have stayed somewhere else. A small house, an apartment, hell even a cardboard box or a cave would do. Mitsu only lacked the courage to take the initiative and run away on her own.
Somehow her thoughts managed to reel back to Shun and his promise, her thoughts going over the mysterious letter and how she had found him hurt. "You....will always be in danger won't you?" She asked softly. Not that they all weren't in danger of some sort but for Shun it seemed that was how he lived. That was the world he was trying to keep her separated from.

"There's always danger around," Shun said quietly, "It's always one thing or another."
There was the constant threat of the Hunters after all. Not only that, but as this trip showed, Halloween had its fair share of dangers as well. There was no escaping it. He didn't really believe it was possible for there to be a completely and perfectly safe place to be. Some places or times might be safer than others but there will always be a slight amount of danger.
"But no matter the danger, I will come back. Believe me when I say this.."

It was true what he said but Mitsu couldn't help but feel that he was hiding something worse. After a long moment of silence Mitsu took a deep (and somewhat pained) breath, "If you say you will come back. I believe you." She tilted her head up enough to look him in the eyes so he could see her conviction. "I won't doubt you again."
She relaxed against him again, nuzzling against his cheek. "Just know...I will follow you anywhere....No matter where that will be."

Looking into her eyes softly, Shun let out a breath as he rested against her.
"I just hope I won't end up getting you hurt again or anything like that," he said quietly. It was very possible he'd end up leading her right into danger. But somehow he had a feeling that he couldn't get her to not follow him in those times, even if he asked.

"It's not so bad," Now who was the one playing down their injuries. "I should heal quickly enough. I would follow regardless." And that much was true. Even if she knew she would get hurt she would risk it to be beside him. It was just her nature, that strong personal loyalty she had for the reaper had been the only thing that had kept her going in the woods, searching when she should have been resting.
Eyes closing for a moment Mitsu realized how tired she still was. The blood loss was still taking its toll and in her weakened state she only wanted to sleep. "Will you be here...when I wake up?" She wondered if he would stay, Mitsu liked having him close to a selfish degree.

"I see..." Shun started while thinking. It was a little strange to have someone so loyal to him. He hoped it wouldn't end badly for her.
"And of course. If they won't let me stay on the bed, I'll still be in the room at least. I will be here, regardless," he said quietly, "Go ahead and get some rest. You need it. We'll head home afterwards."

"Mm..home," Yes, the one place she actually considered a home. While she liked to be outside she would be glad to be back after this. It had been a long and rough trip on the both of them. Hopefully it wouldn't be like this if they tried to come out again.
Reassured that he would be there when she woke again Mitsu settled down to rest a little longer. Her eyes drifted close as her hand gripped the softer fabric of his temporary top. Just a little extra contact as she drifted off again, getting much needed sleep before they both headed home.
